FYI / 2017 post on Reddit Albert Dekker was a noted character actor who worked for 40 years on stage and screen and built up a filmography of 110 credits, including such movies as “Dr. Cyclops”, “The Killers”, “Kiss Me Deadly” and “East of Eden”. In 1968, the 62-year old Dekker completed his final role in Sam Peckinpah’s classic western, “The Wild Bunch”. On May 5, after not hearing from him for three days, Dekker’s fiancee, Geraldine Saunders, entered his Hollywood apartment and found him hanging dead from a leather belt inside the bathroom.

The circumstances of Dekker’s death were very, very strange. He was found nude in the bathtub with a scarf over his eyes, a ball gag in his mouth, and his hands were cuffed behind his back. In addition to the belt around his neck, Dekker had an additional belt around his waist, which was tied to a rope that also tied his two ankles together and was wrapped around his wrist and clasped in his hand. He also had a dirty hypodermic needle sticking out of each of his arms and there were two hypodermic punctures on his right buttock. Above these punctures, the word “whip” had been written on his buttock in lipstick, and a picture of the sun had been drawn. Lipstick was also used the write a lot of words on Dekker’s body, including “make me suck”, “slave” and “cocksucker”, and there appeared to be drawings of sun rays around his nipples and a picture of a vagina on his lower abdomen. The initial ruling was suicide, but after S&M pornography and bondage equipment was found in the apartment, the ruling was changed to accidental death caused by autoerotic asphyxiation (reminiscent of the death of David Carradine).

However, Dekker’s fiancee believed there had to be someone else involved since it seems impossible that he could bound his hands and feet together behind his back and hang himself. In addition, Dekker was keeping $70,000 in cash in his apartment in order to make a down payment on a house, but the money was never found and some camera equipment and a tape recorder were also missing. The most baffling aspect of Dekker’s death was that the bathroom door was locked with a chain from the inside and there were no other exits. Theoretically, Dekker had to have locked the door himself, but could he have gotten himself into that position on his own?

R12, the cash and electronics could very well have been stolen by law enforcement or others at the scene.

Not sure it's urban legend or true, but the story of a guy who was found naked in a dolphin pool. It was suspected that he had a fetish to have sex with the dolphin and he got stuck in the fish's orifice (male or female?) and got pulled under water too long and drowned. That's plenty sordid.

It is thought Murray additionally accidently gave marilyn 10 times the dose Greenson told her too as she was completely unfamiliar with medical procedures. Montgomery Clift died in July 1966, when he was only 45 years old. The official story is that he died late at night, alone, in his own home in Manhattan, and was discovered the next day by an assistant.

My friend insists that Montgomery Clift had been staying in Cherry Grove that summer and that he died there. He died in his cottage there and because this was 1966, those close to him did not want it out that Clift died on Fire Island, as it would confirm all the gay rumors that swirled around him. Late in the night following his death, his body was carried out to a waiting boat and whisked back to Long Island to a waiting car and taken back to his home, where it was "discovered" by his assistant.

My friend insists that he, too, was in the Grove at that time and that he saw Clift there, right up to the time of his death. I have no proof of it, but few people ever have actual proof of these things. At least iit is all plausible and it fits squarely with the era in which Clift's death occurred. This story about his death is not half as weird as the fact that Clift is buried in the Quaker Cemetery in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. And that is easily verifiable.
