I'm a proud gay man in his 30s but I cant help but twing when I see a fellow gay rocking a dress or halter top (looking at you EJ Johnson and Billy Porter). For some reason this annoys me. Maybe i need to get a life, who knows? But is me not celebrating these fashion choices wrong? It sort of gives this idea that gay men just want to be women afterall.
How do we feel about men dressing in womens clothes?

by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 2, 2019 2:22 AM |
It does bother me. It doesn't usually look good, but it doesn't bother me. Actually, if more designers started creating skirts and dresses specifically for men, with men's bodies and male clothing angles in mind, some of them would probably look pretty good. I know a few houses have done that, but most runway stuff is costumey instead of wearable. Think of it this way, OP: skirts make for way easier access than flies.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 2, 2019 2:25 AM |
Doesn’t bother me. A lot of gay men are on the trans-spectrum. Most? Maybe. So many are into straight men and only straight men (or “straight”). That’s how I determine the trans-spectrum.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 2, 2019 2:25 AM |
Attention hos. Look at mostly who is doing this and ask yourself why? These aren't guys going to the office or operating on brains for the most part.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 2, 2019 2:25 AM |
As long as they're not claiming they're women, they should knock themselves out.
Men wore 'skirts' through history a lot longer than they have worn pants. I don't find it attractive personally but I'd defend anyone p's right to do express themselves how they want. Plus I definitely believe in demolishing 'gender stereotypes' rather than reinforcing sex ones with transing everything that moves. Skirts and dresses don't have to belong to girls.
Though, money on, it'd mainly be straight men who'd wear them anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 2, 2019 2:38 AM |
It’s fine. Recent studies have shown that a lot of gay men are discovering that they identify with a transgender identity more than they do with a gay male identity. It’s only been been in recent history that non-heterosexual males had more than just gay as a choice of identity. Now that the spectrum has opened up, they’re exploring new options.

Funny how gay men post shit like this because most straight people think gay and trans is the same thing anyway. To them if you are a gay man you might as well be a woman anyway, doesn't matter how much you try to distance yourself from trans people. Btw, most straight men think it's "crazy" for men to be attracted to other men

Bugs Bunny in drag gave many a straight boy their first boner. This may explain the hetero male fascination with trans. It’s not millions of gay men who are watching those MTF pornos, ladies.

I feel we've come a long way from the days when gay men were closely associated with drag queens and cross dressers. I remember a strong stereotype back in the 1960s of the effeminate gay man. I was raised in San Francisco and gay balls were often in the news, Halloween balls were front on the front page, and many saw gay men as exaggerated in mannerisms and in stereotypical fields like design, entertainment, hair stylists etc. Finocchio's was a popular drag night club in North Beach. Everyone went there, gays, straights etc, the shows were really fun. I went there as a teen. We had a gay columnist, Count Marco, in the Chronicle who wrote about society ladies. doings. Gay men were pigeon-holed and labeled just as women were.
As the years have passed and the gay culture has been integrating into the main stream I observe young gayer men out and about looking handsome, put together and enjoying the arts and culture with other nice looking men. You might recognize them as gay, but they fit more into the young urban look than any exaggerated effeminacy. All the colorful extremes still exist, but the stereotypes are dissolving as more gay men are seen just living their lives as human beings.
Personally, I enjoy the joyous diversity of gay culture, the mainstream guys, the leather boys, and men in dresses, but I wonder if their numbers will shrink.

I do not think of cross dressers as gay men. I have never known a gay man who was a cross dresser. Don't transvestites usually think of themselves as one of the girls. The way things are now, it just seems like a popular trend and for a trend, they lose their cock and balls.

[quote]Men wore 'skirts' through history a lot longer than they have worn pants.
Men who wore skirts also girded their loins. We didn't get where we are today by free-balling it through history. Women couldn't wear pants until the invention of modern sanitary napkins. Take away their tampons and the female sex's claim to gender equality leaps back a century.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 2, 2019 10:09 AM |
R28 the issues many people here have with trans is fuck all to do with what they wear. Clothing is irrelevant. Wearing a dress does not make you a woman.
Wear what you like, be as over the top glam or homely as you choose. That is freedom.
Invade women’s spaces by claiming to actually *be* a woman, demand lesbians suck your cock, gain scholarships or win sporting events reserved for women because you like dresses? Fuck off. That IS a problem.
Men can wear whatever makes them happy, if that includes lingerie or heels so what, hope they’re happy. Just remember nobody else has to validate you or accommodate you.

Gay men who pursue only straight men are on the trans spectrum. You don’t have to fill your body with hormones or invert your genitalia to br transgender. Or, even dress like a woman. There are variant levels of transgenderism. For example, gay men who imagine themselves to be the woman emotionally and sexually with a straight man. Or who just watch gay for pay porn or straight porn. Gay men on the trans-spectrum tend to show disdain for out gay men. It’s a relatively new research.

by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 2, 2019 2:06 PM |
I have always thought men's and women's fashion should be completely switched. Women tend to feel colder than men most of the time especially in formal wear but women often wear a low cut or maybe backless dress that exposes a lot of skin and is open on the bottom, while a man in formal wear has a tight tie around his neck long sleeve shirt and a suit coat. This makes no sense, but I do like both looks.
There is something about a man in a dress that is shocking while a woman wearing what is essentially a man's suit, not so much, but the reason for that is because we have become accustom to women wearing what would normally be considered men's clothes. We have not become accustom to men wearing women's clothes.
The exception is a man in a Scottish kilt, we have become accustom to that and most feel it even looks manly. I feel everyone should be able to wear what they want, we will become accustom to it after some time has passed.
I however have never wanted to be a trend setter, so don't ever expect to see me in a dress.

by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 2, 2019 3:08 PM |
Because of the amount of awful hate and homophobia directed at openly gay men and the lust and admiration for straight men by gay men who obsess over straight men — and that is a lot of gay men (on the trans-spectrum), R75. A lot. Gay men who lust after straight men alone, don’t even view out gay men as men. There is a lot of homophobia attached to the trans movement and A LOT of hatred and homophobia attached to gay men who obsess over straight men. Some of these men don’t even think of themselves as gay. The parallels are just far too strong to deny. You don’t have to go to extremes to be trans, hence the trans-spectrum. When I see gay men lusting after straight men here, I don’t see them as gay men, I see them as trans. Again, you don’t have to chop off your body parts , alter your hormones, wardrobe, or even feminize your body through extreme dieting and exercise to be trans. It’s the illusion of being the “woman” to the straight man, which I believe the medical profession should embrace and encourage as opposed to hormones and cutting up.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | March 2, 2019 3:29 PM |
The dress-like-women folks have always existed in the gay community. I don't like the style, but it's a small minority of gays that dress like that, and for the most part, every gay finds and hangs out with his type, so just let people be, you know?
The trans issue is different. When you are actually claiming and demanding that you ARE the other sex, that can create real problems with sports, women's spaces, etc. Doesn't mean that they should be bashed or anything, but total acceptance is problematic.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 2, 2019 3:44 PM |
Like this thread, R75. Some comments state that two gay men together are like “lesbians”. If they as gay men don’t see gay men as men, then what are they? Women perhaps? Not male. They see straight men as men though. Real men. It’s transy to me, all homophobic. These gay men who lust after straight men are transwomen.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 2, 2019 3:51 PM |
I get aroused by hot men regardless of whether they are gay, bi, or straight, but am not on the “trans spectrum” whatever the hell that is, R76. I also have drag queen friends who are perfectly happy and confident with their manhood, and would laugh at the thought of being called “trans.”
As a matter of fact, wimpy, effeminite, straight incels outnumber gay nellies because of their sheer population size. Even proportionally, however, I would say the number of masc gay men is equal to that of straight men. Seriously! Perhaps we can blame video games and Cheeto diets for the plague of womanly straight men. But yet we overlook this thanks to confirmation bias fueled by stereotypes.
That does not mean I’m on the “trans spectrum” whatever the hell that is. There are PLENTY of masculine gay men to choose from where I live, though, It also does not mean

Have you read that thread I posted? If you agree or relate to any of the hate and homophobia directed towards out gay men in that thread, or any anti-gay male, pro-straight male thread posted on Datalounge, then you are in fact, a transwoman. That theory is wrong altogether. It presumes that most gay men dislike their own penises and wish they didn't have them. Most gay men in the real world love to be penised people and would not lose their own penis for anything.
There is a better theory that trans people all suffer from severe mental illness.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | March 2, 2019 4:43 PM |
Thanks, R90. I’ve been a believer in the trans-spectrum for years. What got me thinking abour that was I knew a guy who was extremely feminized due his dieting and workouts, he was leaner than women but feminine at same time. He would wear tight clothing, midriffs, he would stand like a woman. He shaved off all his body hair, no arm hair. Was always working out around straight men. I would mistake women for him and think “oh that guy is here” but it was actually a woman wearing a hat. I asked him if he was gay and he said “no” he was “straight”. But, he would pursue straight men and only straight men. Guys with girlfriends, wives, etc.. But, it got me thinking maybe he’s not gay, maybe he’s trans. Maybe you don’t have to remove body parts or take hormones to become trans. Maybe you can do it through extreme dieting and exercise and male clothing that’s very tight and revealing. You can give off the illusion of a womam to attract straight men.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | March 2, 2019 4:47 PM |

R78 The “straights” (in the porn referred to on your linked thread) are either closeted gay men married to women or straight men who are desperate for a decent blowjob - the kind most Frauen can’t or won’t perform. These taboos are what makes this porn so erotic. Bonus points if you add the shocked and horrified wife discovering her hubby being sucked off by Manny the landscaper.
Some guys get off on blasting their load on a man’s face in front of his GF or wife just to get back at her for the merciless nagging and haranguing she subjects him to on a daily basis. Why on earth do you think a gay man would want to transition into one of these pathetic women?

OP here. I was just asking a simple question about gay men dressing in womens clothing. I didnt intend for this thread to become an anti-trans thread. Sorry for those who are offended.

Is it even a gay thing? I think it's just how fashion is going. Young men are wearing ever more feminine style clothes and young women, masculine style. Nothing to do with being gay or straight, it's this gender fluid nonsense

Some trans i saw in a video transitioned because "she" thinks" most gay men are effeminate and only a few are masculine. "She" also considred it a "lesbian" relationship for two gay men as together. It is in spanish the interview so it will be hard for most of you to understand. Her part of where she said that it is lesbian for two gay men to be together is stupid but the other part where most gay men are feminine is kind of the truth. I am no gay man but a MASCULINE guy into anything feminine. And those DL polls in which half describes themselves as feminine in varying degrees and that 60% of gay men were correctly identified by people by just looking at them in a study sheds truth to this. Just admit that the feminine gay men and masculine lesbians are on the trans spectrum.

Uh, wrong, most young men do not wear "feminine style clothing" - some of you must live in a WEHO bubble.
