Fuck fugga

by Anonymousreply 1February 25, 2019 2:55 AM

Ah why John Lewis? Not Hollywood

by Anonymousreply 3February 25, 2019 2:55 AM

Poor Bradley.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

At this rate, he'll be tying Peter O'Toole for most nominations without a win.

by Anonymousreply 4February 25, 2019 2:55 AM

Did John Lewis have a stroke

by Anonymousreply 5February 25, 2019 2:55 AM

GO GLENN

by Anonymousreply 6February 25, 2019 2:56 AM

Just seems like The Oscars are filling quotas these days. Black Oscars check Gay Oscars check etc etc etc

by Anonymousreply 7February 25, 2019 2:56 AM

No Frances no!!!

by Anonymousreply 8February 25, 2019 2:56 AM

by Anonymousreply 13February 25, 2019 2:57 AM

Floppy Poopy Turds’ collapse is complete if it went 0 for 4.

by Anonymousreply 14February 25, 2019 2:57 AM

Exactly R7. They're trying so hard to include everyone that it's less about the actual quality of the movies and more about giving everyone an award for just being 'you'.

by Anonymousreply 15February 25, 2019 2:57 AM

Freddie was bi but everyone seems to be ignoring that, so.

by Anonymousreply 16February 25, 2019 2:57 AM

here we go!

by Anonymousreply 17February 25, 2019 2:57 AM

by Anonymousreply 20February 25, 2019 2:58 AM

by Anonymousreply 40February 25, 2019 2:59 AM

Never saw The Favourite. Anyone here see and enjoy it?

by Anonymousreply 41February 25, 2019 2:59 AM

She won in the hideous dress?

by Anonymousreply 42February 25, 2019 2:59 AM

Olivia WHO?

by Anonymousreply 43February 25, 2019 3:00 AM

Shit, finally an upset!

by Anonymousreply 53February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Glenn, it sucks. Have a drink

by Anonymousreply 54February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Glenn is so cute laughing.

by Anonymousreply 55February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

British trash

by Anonymousreply 56February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Ha! I just won my Oscar pool, cunts. Seriously, I figured the ACTUAL "favourite" would win, not awful Glenn or hack Gaga. (Though she deserved it more than Rami did.)

by Anonymousreply 57February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

This is fantastic.

by Anonymousreply 58February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

R41 - it's a not to be missed. Loved it.

by Anonymousreply 59February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Glenn must be really hated in order to lose seven out of seven times.

by Anonymousreply 60February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Olivia’s dress is very beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 61February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Glenn needs to run up on stage and snatch the Oscar and tell her it is hers...cut that bitch if necessary

by Anonymousreply 62February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Can't we find something for Glenn?

by Anonymousreply 63February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Tonight’s votes were tabulated by the accounting firm of Streep, Streep and Streep.

by Anonymousreply 64February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Gaga said OMG

by Anonymousreply 65February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Glenn is the epitome of dignity in her loss. No surprise.

by Anonymousreply 66February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Olivia is wonderful. So glad she won.

by Anonymousreply 67February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

So nice of Olivia to mention G in her speech. Good consolation prize.

by Anonymousreply 68February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

That is the shittiest speech.

by Anonymousreply 69February 25, 2019 3:01 AM

Glenn laughing! I suppose the Xanax must've just kicked in.

by Anonymousreply 70February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Glenn is Hillary Clinton. As I said on an earlier thread. But to be fair, Olivia isn’t Donald.

by Anonymousreply 71February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

They have to give glenn an honorary one , right?

by Anonymousreply 72February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

I was first choice for The Favourite

by Anonymousreply 73February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

This speech is hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 74February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Glenn will get an honorary next year, I'm calling it now

by Anonymousreply 75February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

I love Olivia but feel sorry for Glenn.

by Anonymousreply 76February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Damn! Damn! Damn!
They have to give glenn an honorary one , right?

I think they should... just... geez, lol.

by Anonymousreply 78February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Goddamn son of a bitch!

by Anonymousreply 79February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

R60, try 18.

by Anonymousreply 80February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Fugga looks ridiculous with her orange tan

by Anonymousreply 81February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

OMG what a damn nightmare for Glenn!

O M G!

by Anonymousreply 82February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

First Trump is elected and then Glenn is FUCKING robbed...I don't want to live in this world anymore

by Anonymousreply 83February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

STUNNING. omg

by Anonymousreply 84February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Olivia was adorable

by Anonymousreply 85February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

I love Olivia

by Anonymousreply 86February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Who gives a shit just so long as Lady Fuckface lost.

by Anonymousreply 87February 25, 2019 3:02 AM

Lucy cried when Rami won! She’s so happy for her man!

by Anonymousreply 88February 25, 2019 3:03 AM
Glenn needs to run up on stage and snatch the Oscar and tell her it is hers...cut that bitch if necessary

At her age? Poor dear would break a hip if she tried it!

by Anonymousreply 89February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

god, I'm exhausted with this white woman

by Anonymousreply 90February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

Glenn will just have to work harder.

by Anonymousreply 91February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

Netflix strikes again. Colman is the queen in the next few seasons of The Queen! Conspiracy!

She is awesome though!!!

by Anonymousreply 92February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

Was she on drugs? drunk? That was embarrassing

by Anonymousreply 93February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

These Walmart ads are so contrived. Jesus, enough.

by Anonymousreply 94February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

I would have rather Glenn won and Rami lost.

by Anonymousreply 95February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

Glenn and Bradley can now hang out together.

by Anonymousreply 96February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

At least CaCa didn't win. She shouldn't have even been nominated.

by Anonymousreply 97February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

Olivia clearly did not expect to win.

by Anonymousreply 98February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

Colman and Ali will both win Emmys this year, I love it.

by Anonymousreply 99February 25, 2019 3:03 AM

I guess Emma stone goes my Emily in real life cuz that’s how she referenced her

by Anonymousreply 100February 25, 2019 3:04 AM
Lucy cried when Rami won! She’s so happy for her man!

"Man" = $250,000 bearding bonus for that kiss

by Anonymousreply 101February 25, 2019 3:04 AM

The Marys who are devastated for G are hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 102February 25, 2019 3:04 AM

Glenn Close will be left out of the "In Memoriam" when she dies.

by Anonymousreply 103February 25, 2019 3:04 AM

i had to get a glass of wine

by Anonymousreply 104February 25, 2019 3:04 AM

What did Glenn do to deserve this lack of respect in Hollywood?

by Anonymousreply 105February 25, 2019 3:04 AM

SNL sketch Alex Forrest boiling Olivia's bunny.

by Anonymousreply 106February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

So Malek, a heterosexual, wins for playing a gay male icon?

Fuck that cicada bug eyed Egyptian

by Anonymousreply 107February 25, 2019 3:05 AM
Olivia clearly did not expect to win.

She even said as much in her speech to Glenn.

Olivia's brilliant, and she's brilliant in the role... it's just weird because Glenn seemed like such an easy choice for the Academy.

by Anonymousreply 108February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

G should burn the place down

by Anonymousreply 109February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

I hope there's not a shocker for Best Picture.

by Anonymousreply 110February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

That sound you just heard is millions of people across the country turning their televisions off in disgust

by Anonymousreply 111February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

LOL R103

by Anonymousreply 112February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

I can understand if hate The Oscars but every now and then they do something beautiful like giving Olivia an Oscar..

Poor poor Glen dressed up like an Oscar for nothing. I'm laughing my head off. Has M made a comment yet ?

by Anonymousreply 113February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

R71, Olivia is Bernie Sanders.

by Anonymousreply 114February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

Sad for Glen

by Anonymousreply 115February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

I’m certain my theory was correct-Close lost because it was just a very good performance in a truly lousy film. I definitely think that made the difference.

by Anonymousreply 116February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

Olivia should have said, "This isn't one of those La La Land/Moonlight things, is it?" She would've gotten a laugh.

by Anonymousreply 117February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

Yay for Olivia!

Still, she should have thanked the behind-the-scenes people who pushed her two co-stars into Best Supporting, in a frank case of category fraud.

by Anonymousreply 118February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

Olivia obviously didn't have a speech and Glenn was dressed in gold.

Yeah, no one saw this coming.

by Anonymousreply 119February 25, 2019 3:05 AM

Black Panther is going to win.

by Anonymousreply 120February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

@RamiMalek

THANK YOU to the Academy and everyone involved with #BohemianRhapsody! I'm in shock, but did you notice my heterosexual erection when I kissed Lucy #Oscars2019

by Anonymousreply 121February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

Glenn is one of our stone-faced 80’s idols.

by Anonymousreply 122February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

Wow, I was really pulling for Glenn Close.

by Anonymousreply 123February 25, 2019 3:06 AM
That sound you just heard is millions of people across the country turning their televisions off in disgust

I don't think anyone cares about Glenn Close that much. lol

by Anonymousreply 124February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

I'd have preferred she'd lost to Gaga or that fat woman...

by Anonymousreply 125February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

Somebody make sure Glenn doesn't have a knife.

by Anonymousreply 126February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

Wow they did Glenn dirty. Making the old gal believe she was going to win and then snatching it away at the last moment.

by Anonymousreply 127February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

Olivia Coleman is akin to Adrien Brody winning.

by Anonymousreply 128February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

I actually loved Olivia Colman in AMC's "The Night Manager," so I am familiar with her work.

Still, if Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellwegger, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Reese Witherspoon all have Oscars, then GLENN FUCKING CLOSE should have an Oscar.

The Academy voters did this out of spite, just to be cunts.

by Anonymousreply 129February 25, 2019 3:06 AM

FAT FUCK

by Anonymousreply 130February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

Gillermo lay off the churros, hon

He has churro fever

by Anonymousreply 131February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

Lady Gaga has an Oscar, but Glenn Close doesnt. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

by Anonymousreply 132February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

Well, at least it's not like the Russians fucked with the voting.

Obviously.

by Anonymousreply 133February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

I can already tell Glenn is on the phone with her agent demanding to start production on Sunset Boulevard tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 134February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

That’s one pear shaped director

by Anonymousreply 135February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

Hoping for an upset here!

by Anonymousreply 136February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

It was inevitable. Oscar voters are SUCKERS for British royalty,

by Anonymousreply 137February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

R128- No, Adrian Brody = Rami.

by Anonymousreply 138February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

She wore that ridiculous dress for nothing

by Anonymousreply 139February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

Please not Spike again

by Anonymousreply 140February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

Fucking wonderful. I have been watching her for years. Who would have ever thought Sophie from PEEP SHOW would have won an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 141February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

Fuck that stupid bitch and her voters. What a bunch of assholes!

by Anonymousreply 142February 25, 2019 3:07 AM

This was supposed to be Glenn's year. That oscar was hers, what a punch in the gut. She'll never win one. Have to get an honorary actor.

by Anonymousreply 143February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Like I said Glad the academy voters didn't do the "she should win because..." It was a Lifetime Movie role. She's not dead yet. She will have another role that she really deserves an award for.

GaGa looked not so much disappointed but legit huh? I am sure she thought Glenn would win. I didn't see a reaction shot from Glenn, anyone? What was it?

by Anonymousreply 144February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

R118 - Olivia Colman’s Queen Anne Is the Main Character of ‘The Favourite’ — The Editing Proves It

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 145February 25, 2019 3:08 AM
Glenn Close will be left out of the "In Memoriam" when she dies.

Oh yes. When I die, I'll get the last spot. The Academy has already had pick out my clips.

by Anonymousreply 146February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Now that she's lost this year's Best Actress Oscar, G must feel especially ridiculous in selecting that sad golden sheathe-cape, with its sad little 'Pocket Flaps.'

by Anonymousreply 147February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Moral to this story: never kill a rabbit in a movie, you will never win an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 148February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Yay Mexicans! 🇲🇽

by Anonymousreply 149February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Now I will hate Olivia Coleman forever.

Enough with these damn Brits and Mexicans winning.

by Anonymousreply 150February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

This is horrifying.

Has any "acclaimed" actor been so pissed on, so blatantly, by the Academy?

The woman was getting Oscar buzz in 1982, for God's sake.

Garp. Big Chill. Dangerous Liaisons. Fatal Attraction. Any one of those were Oscar-worthy roles, and the last was better than many actual Oscar winners in different years.

by Anonymousreply 151February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

If you have not watched the British sitcom Peep Show, do. Only Ab Fab is better, and Olivia is wonderful in it.

by Anonymousreply 152February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Mexicano time

by Anonymousreply 153February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

This is Lauren Bacall shit all over again

by Anonymousreply 154February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

R133 made me laugh. And r103 did, too.

by Anonymousreply 155February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Del Toro is going to get Cuaron sick!

by Anonymousreply 156February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

del Toro looks like 1/3 of a Chrissy Metz there.

by Anonymousreply 157February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Look for Colman to take home the Emmy next year too for THE CROWN.

by Anonymousreply 158February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

Bo Rhap: 4

Black Panther: 3

Roma: 3

Green Book: 2

by Anonymousreply 159February 25, 2019 3:08 AM

We all know why Roma won.

by Anonymousreply 160February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

#notmybestactresss

by Anonymousreply 161February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

How many fucking Oscars does that man have now??

by Anonymousreply 162February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

So Roma won? I only wanted VICE to win.

by Anonymousreply 163February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

UGH, I cannot stand this director.

He's a fucking poseur snob and so fucking rude. He was looking at his fucking cell during Rami's entire speech. Learn some fucking decorum Mr. Moneybags!

by Anonymousreply 164February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

A Mexican and a Muslim won tonight! The racists' heads are gonna explode! (And Trump's)

by Anonymousreply 165February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

Fourth oscar? Wasn't it just a couple of years ago that no Hispanics won for directing?

by Anonymousreply 166February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

Roma sucked

by Anonymousreply 167February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

This win will piss off Trump!

by Anonymousreply 168February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

Move on R164

by Anonymousreply 169February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

Go watch Olivia in Broadchurch - the first series was really good. She's a great actress, and that speech was a much needed breath of fresh air.

by Anonymousreply 170February 25, 2019 3:09 AM

Olivia Colman has an Oscar and Glenn Close doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 171February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

I hope a B-List movie like Green Book or Bohemian Rhapsody or Black Panther wins, cause LOL

by Anonymousreply 172February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Pocahontas next role is at the Taco Bell drive thru

by Anonymousreply 173February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Cuaron doesn’t need a second directing Oscar, jesus what a waste.

by Anonymousreply 174February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Close was ripped off. Colman was good, not great. I’m tired of every actress who plays the queen winning an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 175February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Rami is a Coptic Christian not Muslim.

by Anonymousreply 176February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Rami is a Christian?

by Anonymousreply 177February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Sorry Glen

by Anonymousreply 178February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Who is the beautiful woman in the strapless red gown?

by Anonymousreply 179February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

I had no idea who Coleman is, but damn, her acceptance speech was the highlight of the night.

by Anonymousreply 180February 25, 2019 3:10 AM

Oh, here we go. I don't want to hear about workers rights at the godddamn Academy Awards. Speak English!

by Anonymousreply 181February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

R164 I was looking at my cell when Rami was giving his speech too. Go take a pill.

by Anonymousreply 182February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

has he said what happened to Cleo ?

by Anonymousreply 183February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Confession: I didn’t like Roma

by Anonymousreply 184February 25, 2019 3:11 AM
So Roma won? I only wanted VICE to win.

No, he won Best Director. Sometimes a director wins, but their film doesn't.

We can HOPE his overrated ROMA does not win. What a fucking boring film!

by Anonymousreply 185February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

I wouldn't dream of watching the show, which I find boring. But I have been scrolling through the Daily Mail's fashion pix, and think the gowns were quite creative and interesting this year. Except for Maya Rudolph's, pee-yoo!

by Anonymousreply 186February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

So if Netflix can win Oscars, Snapchat should start cranking them out.

by Anonymousreply 187February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Glenn SUCKED in "The Wife". How many fucking times did I tell you that???! Bernie Sanders will also win the Democratic nomination. So there. Suck it up, bitches. Ahahahahaha!!!

by Anonymousreply 188February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Does someone want to start a support thread for those mourning Glenn’s loss?

by Anonymousreply 189February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Glenn is the new Deborah Kerr.

by Anonymousreply 190February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Let us not forget that this night will be most remembered for Della making a Golden Girls joke.

by Anonymousreply 191February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

god, i'm dreading Best Picture

by Anonymousreply 192February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Roma bored the fuck out of me.

by Anonymousreply 193February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Glenn? Loser! Gold dress! Ha ha! She looks like the award another woman won!

Maybe she has an LBD in the car! lol

by Anonymousreply 194February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

r116, exactly. THE WIFE was a crap film. That didn't help Glenn.

by Anonymousreply 195February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Glenn must have felt that loss deeply in her gut.

by Anonymousreply 196February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

I am THRILLED for Olivia Coleman!

by Anonymousreply 197February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Netflix is probably jizzing that Olivia won. Even more eyeballs for the new season of The Queen. (I still think she was miscast. But we will see

by Anonymousreply 198February 25, 2019 3:11 AM

Olivia Colman wasn’t even the lead

by Anonymousreply 199February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

Glenn Close is too fine an actress to need an Oscar. Her career is her award. I mean, she played Maxie.

by Anonymousreply 200February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

this awards show was bought

by Anonymousreply 201February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

Is the guy Mexican...I always thought he was Italian. I am ignorant. If his win screws with Trump? I say good.

by Anonymousreply 202February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

Why do people keep bringing up that Malek is a Christian?

by Anonymousreply 203February 25, 2019 3:12 AM
This win will piss off Trump!

And that's the ONLY reason it won. Everyone knows it.

by Anonymousreply 204February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

Glenn lost!

I love my life!!!

by Anonymousreply 205February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

Someone is pissed about Glenn losing

r176, Mahershala Ali is a Muslim

by Anonymousreply 208February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

Yes Mexico. Fuck Trump

by Anonymousreply 209February 25, 2019 3:12 AM

Gah, I meant the Crown upthread, but you bitches knew what I meant. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 210February 25, 2019 3:12 AM
I was looking at my cell when Rami was giving his speech too. Go take a pill.

You take pill. Where YOU in the audience moron? Were the cameras on you?

These assholes are supposed to be professionals, that was uncalled for and damn fucking rude.

by Anonymousreply 211February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Glenn has never won because there was always someone better that year.

by Anonymousreply 212February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Claire Foy should have been signed for all 6 seasons of The Crown.

by Anonymousreply 213February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

god help us

by Anonymousreply 214February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Once again Glenn Close learns the hard truth that the award is for Best Acting, not Most Acting.

by Anonymousreply 215February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

America’s seeetheart!

by Anonymousreply 216February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

by Anonymousreply 218February 25, 2019 3:13 AM
Olivia Colman has an Oscar and Glenn Close doesn't.

And Donald Trump is President, and Hillary Clinton isn't.

This world is truly fucked.

by Anonymousreply 219February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Julia has an Oscar but not Glenn. What a disgrace.

by Anonymousreply 220February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Julia Roberts no longer gets nominated for Oscars, only presents.

by Anonymousreply 221February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Great dress. Looking good.

by Anonymousreply 222February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Roberts looks gorgeous!!

by Anonymousreply 225February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Julia "I Love My Life" Roberts

by Anonymousreply 226February 25, 2019 3:13 AM

Julia Roberts, pink is NOT your color.

by Anonymousreply 242February 25, 2019 3:14 AM

Why the Hell is SHE presenting Best Picture?

by Anonymousreply 243February 25, 2019 3:14 AM

Agree, r213 Aging makeup would have worked wonders. Coleman is more of a later day Margaret. Though I think Helena will nail that.

I hate Julia Robers.

by Anonymousreply 244February 25, 2019 3:14 AM

Ok Glenn Stan

Your heroine is still a loooooooo saaaaaaaaaaaa

by Anonymousreply 249February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

If Black Panther wins I'm burning crosses

by Anonymousreply 250February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Julia should have given a raspberry to Lee Radziwill.

by Anonymousreply 251February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

At least that BUG EYED EGYPTIAN's movie didn't win

by Anonymousreply 252February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Ahahahahaha!

by Anonymousreply 253February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Did he say aloha?

by Anonymousreply 254February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

This had to be the most schizophrenic Oscars ever.

by Anonymousreply 255February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

What a joke year! Shameful!

by Anonymousreply 256February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

GREEN BOOOK!

Damn, most of the winners tonight looked truly shocked.

What a show.

by Anonymousreply 257February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Green Book is good. That would make Trump mad. But why not the director?

by Anonymousreply 258February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

WOW, surprise but a pleasant one

by Anonymousreply 259February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

I haven't been playing the race Olympics here but this was a crappy, undeserved race-based win. Another thing to thank that fucker Trump for.

by Anonymousreply 260February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

And the Oscar goes to "Crash"

by Anonymousreply 261February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Have a good night and be nice to one another.

by Anonymousreply 266February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

I’m only happy Green Book won because Spike Lee is PISSED.

by Anonymousreply 267February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Goodnight

by Anonymousreply 268February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

So glad Roma lost. That director is annoying and smug as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 269February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

La La Land!

by Anonymousreply 270February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Spielberg is probably thrilled.

by Anonymousreply 271February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Crazy ass night.

by Anonymousreply 272February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

Well, at least it wasn't BR, or Roma, or The Favorite, or Black Panther...

by Anonymousreply 273February 25, 2019 3:15 AM

This is the worst Best Picture winner since "Crash." Seriously.

by Anonymousreply 274February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

I wish I had Viggo's cheeks

covering my face.

by Anonymousreply 275February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

Somebody, go check on Jada!

by Anonymousreply 277February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

Green Book . . . YES!!!

by Anonymousreply 278February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

Anything but Roma!

by Anonymousreply 279February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 280February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

‪Green Book is the Best Picture the Academy deserves.‬

And hilariously, Octavia Spencer doesn’t win an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 281February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

Crash redux

by Anonymousreply 282February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

It was a shit year in a movies, again!

by Anonymousreply 285February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

by Anonymousreply 286February 25, 2019 3:16 AM

Is he going to show his penis?

by Anonymousreply 287February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Most depressing and worst Oscars EVER.

by Anonymousreply 288February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

I wish BoRhap won and got 5/5. People would lose it.

by Anonymousreply 289February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

At least Black Panther didn't win Best Picture....if it would have won, Hollywood would have been burned down tonight

by Anonymousreply 290February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

I’m still laughing. Oh Academy, for all your diversity push, you are still entirely FUCKED.

by Anonymousreply 291February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Linda Cardellini should slap the designer of her dress.

by Anonymousreply 292February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Yep, this is the worst win since Crash.

by Anonymousreply 293February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Green Book split the difference between BK , too black and Roma, too Mexican.

by Anonymousreply 294February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

im disgusted

by Anonymousreply 295February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Poor Bradley. His film started off as the frontrunner and ends up with the same number of Oscars as First Man.

by Anonymousreply 296February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Smooches.

by Anonymousreply 297February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

This guy is playing it WAY too cool. Like he assumed it would win. Fuck that. Oh the smug

by Anonymousreply 298February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Spike screaming Spielberg bought this award in 3...2...1...

by Anonymousreply 299February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

Glaaaaaaaaaadiator!

by Anonymousreply 300February 25, 2019 3:17 AM

I hope poor Glenn has a black mourning dress to change into.

by Anonymousreply 301February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Roma won Best foreign film, Best Director and Cinematography

by Anonymousreply 302February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Well, the Glenn upset was unexpected, and they say these award shows are 100% predictable.

Coleman and McCarthy got the biggest cheers from the crowd when introduced. Close's reception was tepid. So I guess it wasn't a big shock to the voters.

Also, what an awkward end to the show.

by Anonymousreply 303February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Well, then bring Viggo on up there so we can drool on him.

by Anonymousreply 304February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

A complete catastrophe. The Oscars are over. Permanently.

by Anonymousreply 305February 25, 2019 3:18 AM
And the Oscar goes to "Crash"

That's the first thing I thought of. It's this year's Crash. Split vote.

by Anonymousreply 306February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

I blocked that bitch years ago, R191.

by Anonymousreply 307February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Glenn SUCKS

by Anonymousreply 308February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Is this the shortest Oscar's telecast ever?

by Anonymousreply 309February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Julia Roberts’ smile is the last thing a beetle sees before being decapitated by a praying mantis

by Anonymousreply 310February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Why can't someone come outvandvsay the got it wrong

by Anonymousreply 311February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

i'm boycotting

by Anonymousreply 312February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

And so ends the Academy Awards, sans host.

Was it a failed experiment?

by Anonymousreply 313February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

I enjoyed the awards but then I'm not seething with hate over black people winning awards or lesser-known actors winning over veterans.

by Anonymousreply 314February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

That's it. I'm done. Won' be watching next year. Bye, Felicia!

by Anonymousreply 315February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

Julia Roberts was the host. Mmmkay

by Anonymousreply 316February 25, 2019 3:18 AM

It's obvious that Glenn is not well liked.

Yay, Carrie Fisher got a mention!

by Anonymousreply 317February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

Well it's been fun, folks.

If someone wants a part 7 thread, you'll need to make one.

Night, all!

by Anonymousreply 318February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. TRAVESTY. HORRIFIC.

UGH!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 320February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

What a fucking waste of time.

by Anonymousreply 321February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

Face it, the highlight of the ceremony was Melissa McCarthy's bunny puppet.

by Anonymousreply 322February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

Broadchurch, Flea Bag FLOWERS MURDER ON THE ORIENT .The Night Manager . Peep Show the Iron Lady hot Fuzz and soon playing another queen in The Crown....

by Anonymousreply 323February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

as much as i hated tonight's show, i didn't miss not having a host.

by Anonymousreply 324February 25, 2019 3:19 AM
So glad Roma lost. That director is annoying and smug as fuck.

THANK YOU! I totally AGREE!

I like the other Mexican director, Guillermo del Toro, who won last year for his creature movie, which was actually quite entertaining and sad. He seems a lot more humble and with great sense of humor.

by Anonymousreply 325February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

“If I can’t win an Oscar, I can at least BE an Oscar!”

by Anonymousreply 326February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

The Academy Awards just sealed their fate. An entire awards show based solely on race. Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 327February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

I hope Whoopi’s OK.

by Anonymousreply 328February 25, 2019 3:19 AM

Crash 2: Driving Mr Mulignan!

by Anonymousreply 329February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

Thank god Greenbook won over Roma. I would rather Black Panther win over Roma.

by Anonymousreply 330February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

R319 be nice 12 percent of the population deserve 50/50 representation!!

by Anonymousreply 331February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

Much more fun maligning in malignant company. Night bitches!

by Anonymousreply 332February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

Henry Fonda won an honorary Oscar in 1981 and then a year later, he won Best Actor for On Golden Pond.

Chin up, G.

Anything can happen.

by Anonymousreply 333February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

the pandering was revolting

by Anonymousreply 334February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

OK, anyone that has screenshots of Glenn's reaction shots, please upload.

by Anonymousreply 335February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

At least Roma didn't win Best Picture. That would've been a travesty.

by Anonymousreply 336February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

Love you R318

I stopped making threads long ago so I appreciate your effort

by Anonymousreply 337February 25, 2019 3:20 AM
I hope poor Glenn has a black mourning dress to change into.

She's into diversity too.

by Anonymousreply 338February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

RAMI doubled down on kissing his beard during the closing credits.

by Anonymousreply 339February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

I enjoyed Green Book and have since picked up a bunch of Don Shirley's music on cd. Beautiful stuff.

by Anonymousreply 340February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

Yeah, Whoopi was noticeably absent because she was the only black actor still alive who didn't present.

by Anonymousreply 341February 25, 2019 3:20 AM

I enjoyed the host-less version. I think this should continue. And love these 70s style flashback clips under the credits too.

by Anonymousreply 342February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

i miss having a good host like Steve Martin , Jon Stewart or Seth McFarlane who offended a lot of people....

by Anonymousreply 343February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

The ending was just deflated non-event.

Though I have dim memory from the 80s??? of Liz Taylor trying to lead the crowd in singing 'God Bless America'.

by Anonymousreply 344February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

#OscarsSoBlack is trending in Tuscaloosa

by Anonymousreply 345February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

Glenn will get sauced at Chasen's tonight and throw another plant at Mamacita.

by Anonymousreply 346February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

i LOVE pussy

by Anonymousreply 347February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

So you bitches aren't sticking around for "Whiskey Cavalier"?

by Anonymousreply 348February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

Clearly, they don't need a host. It moves things along much faster.

by Anonymousreply 349February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

Who is going to fill Bradley’s hole tonight?

by Anonymousreply 350February 25, 2019 3:21 AM

Olivia's husband is a hot daddy!

by Anonymousreply 351February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

I loved that the last words on this year's show were "Carrie Fisher".

by Anonymousreply 352February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

I guess they felt ROMA got enough with Best Foreign Film and Best Director.

by Anonymousreply 353February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

Glenn is just so precious. No one can stand her phoniness. I mean how fucked up do you have to be to wear that dress. OMFG. She kills me.

by Anonymousreply 354February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

They spread the Oscars around this year.

Crash 3: The Glenn Close Story

[italic]STARRING MERYL STREEP[italic]

by Anonymousreply 356February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

Glenn Close will be another Paul Newman. He finally on when he didn't show-up.

by Anonymousreply 357February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

I'm glad heterosexual actors like Rami Malek can prove that straight actors can win oscars.

by Anonymousreply 358February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

At least it ended before 11 o'clock. So that's a plus.

by Anonymousreply 359February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

Is it my imagination, or was even more of Francis' hair missing by the time she took the stage to present an Oscar ?

by Anonymousreply 360February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

Tonights broadcast showed that the show really doesn't need a host. They should stick with this format.

by Anonymousreply 361February 25, 2019 3:22 AM

From many of the reactions here, I'm surprised @OscarsTooBlack isn't trending.

by Anonymousreply 362February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

Green Book must have won due to the Best Pic preferred ballot, or whatever they call it. When there are several frontrunners in a tight race like this year, the 3rd or 4th place pick often comes out on top and wins.

by Anonymousreply 363February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

lol The Academy gave it to Green Book only to awards a bunch of [bold]white men[/bold]

The tone deaf producer said "it's all because of "Vigo." When you know the Academy awarded the movie because of the race factor.

They also didn't want to award it to a Mexican film because ironically they are probably too racist to really embrace true diversity.

Poor Glenny, I felt sad for her.

by Anonymousreply 364February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

I'll aways have my Tony for Norma, R354 - or should I say PATTI?

by Anonymousreply 365February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

Rami's twin brother is hotter and probably straight.

by Anonymousreply 366February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

I won!!!

by Anonymousreply 367February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

by Anonymousreply 368February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

😮 What happened to the question mark and the exclamation point on my tablet ........

by Anonymousreply 369February 25, 2019 3:23 AM

Not on the east coast, R359. It's 11:23 here.

by Anonymousreply 370February 25, 2019 3:24 AM

Green Book won because it was a FUCKING WEAK YEAR FOR FILM.

by Anonymousreply 371February 25, 2019 3:24 AM

Ths show ran long.

by Anonymousreply 372February 25, 2019 3:24 AM
fuck the oscars/BET awards

Meanwhile, racist, gay assholes like you expect "gays" to be represented on a scale beyond their actual population. People like you want to pretend that just because a movie is "black" or had black people in it, it's automatically undeserving of recognition. Yet you think shit like Titanic should win.

Did those of you full of hate even see Green Book? It's a really good film.

by Anonymousreply 373February 25, 2019 3:25 AM

I'm in central time.

by Anonymousreply 374February 25, 2019 3:25 AM

R371 that’s been said a lot in the last 5 years, it is sad.

by Anonymousreply 375February 25, 2019 3:25 AM

Huge shout out to =OP who kept the threads moving along. Thank you!

I know Glenn wanted it, and yes, it's awful she has never won--but Olivia did deliver the best performance of those 5. Glenn wasn't even second. Melissa McCarthy was almost as good as Colman.

by Anonymousreply 380February 25, 2019 3:26 AM

Gaga and Glenn Close were the front runners, and they probably split the vote.

by Anonymousreply 381February 25, 2019 3:26 AM

I loved Green Book. I read all the critics’ complaints about it, but don’t agree the movie painted the white guy as the savior.

by Anonymousreply 382February 25, 2019 3:26 AM

So Octavia Spencer now has another Oscar, yes? She produced Green Book.

by Anonymousreply 383February 25, 2019 3:26 AM

This was undoubtedly the weakest year since The Artist won.

by Anonymousreply 384February 25, 2019 3:26 AM

All of the Best Pic nominees won at least one Oscar, and the fringe nominees (Beale Street, First Man) got Oscars, too. AMPRAS spread the love this year.

Bo Rhap and Black Panther split the tech awards for the most part.
it was a FUCKING WEAK YEAR FOR FILM

by Anonymousreply 387February 25, 2019 3:27 AM

Melissa McCarthy was pissed!

by Anonymousreply 388February 25, 2019 3:27 AM

R375, this is called the Golden Age of Television for a reason. Right now, movies are not where it's at.

by Anonymousreply 389February 25, 2019 3:27 AM

Oh I'm loving how the Oscars made the racists on this board SO tight.

by Anonymousreply 390February 25, 2019 3:27 AM

Don’t be sad ... the FIFTH remake of “A Star is Born” will win an Oscar in the future!

by Anonymousreply 391February 25, 2019 3:27 AM

Black Klansman was a good movie. Will Jussie be at Madonna's party? Will Glenn?

by Anonymousreply 392February 25, 2019 3:27 AM
From many of the reactions here, I'm surprised @OscarsTooBlack isn't trending.

It’s only the old racists on the DL, not the general public, thank god. This is a year with the mega blockbuster Black Panther, and Oscar bait movies like If Beale Street Could Talk, BlackkKlansman, Greenbook, and Into the Spider-Verse, so of course there would be blacks represented.

by Anonymousreply 393February 25, 2019 3:27 AM

by Anonymousreply 401February 25, 2019 3:29 AM

To people who are calling Greenbook Crash 2, what movie do you think should have won then? Bohemian Rhapsody?! A Star is Born????

by Anonymousreply 402February 25, 2019 3:29 AM

Thanks r378! I hope we get the full film. Gaga had a really strange expression. I think she knew she wasn't going to get it. Glenn is going to stab someone. McCarthy also has an odd look there. The other chick knew it wasn't going to happen for her, so she's chill.

by Anonymousreply 403February 25, 2019 3:29 AM

Olivia Colman's win reminds me of when Glenda Jackson won over the obvious winner Barbra Streisand. Those British actresses always stealing shit.

by Anonymousreply 417February 25, 2019 3:34 AM

I think when Colman won the BAFTA and Glenn sat in her seat, instead of standing with everyone else got wind across the pond. Glenn seemed smug in prep for the Oscars and it's possible she and Gaga split the vote enough for Colman to sneak through. People got sick of the idea a pity Oscar was due Glenn.

Netflix spent at least $30M on the Roma Oscar campaign and were denied. I think Spielberg's statement about making movies for theatrical release and leaving the tv movies to the Emmys had an effect.

by Anonymousreply 452February 25, 2019 3:44 AM

No, R428. I'm actually not black, just been on DL long enough to know how hypocritical and racist a lot of you are when it comes to these things. You pretend there haven't been tons of shitty movies nominated over the years and only whine if some film that isn't "white" gets through the door. Then you just bitch and moan endlessly about "pc." Meanwhile, if every television show and every film doesn't have gays in it, you scream about it. You lack introspection is my point. You want representation as a gay person in everything and if it doesn't win every fucking award, you'll scream about it. Yet that to you, isn't "pc." You do understand that commercials -for example- featuring gay couples is considered "pc" to the average American, right?

A lot of you racist white gays lack self-awareness when it comes your minority status and how not being able to use "that's gay" in a derogatory way is considered "pc"

by Anonymousreply 453February 25, 2019 3:44 AM

R426, that's what I actually find so ironic about all of the bigots complaining on here every time a "black film" would win: hell, so many of the people who got the actual Oscar for them were white, not black. You'd think that would've shut them the hell up. But I guess for them it was just the whole idea of a "black film" winning anything that set them off.

by Anonymousreply 454February 25, 2019 3:45 AM

I feel sorry for Glenn Close but in the end she has enjoyed - still is - a career most actresses would kill for.

by Anonymousreply 455February 25, 2019 3:45 AM

The show was so enjoyable without Kevin Hart stinking it up.

by Anonymousreply 456February 25, 2019 3:46 AM

I think McDormand blew a kiss to Close before Announcing the winner. They worked together a long time ago. Frances didn’t look happy that she lost. Love Colman but man it’s shattering Close couldn’t pull this off.

by Anonymousreply 457February 25, 2019 3:46 AM

Roma was never going to win Best Picture, being on Netflix had nothing to do with it.

by Anonymousreply 458February 25, 2019 3:46 AM

It's hilarious that anyone thinks that Glenn and GaGa split the vote. Only a true Stan would think that Stefani was going to get within smelling distance of Best Actress. She finished a distance third, at best.

Something I am puzzled about, do people think giving Cuaron the award adds up to diversity? If so is that simply because he is from Mexico? Because he's just another white guy getting an award. It's not like he looks or is the same ethnicity as someone like Yalitza, now that would be something if someone indigenous got far enough in life to get an award like that. Cuaron is part of the Spanish colonizer crowd.

If he really wants to do something why doesn't he expose the corruption in his home country that leads to so many desiring to flee to America? Why not do an epic about the Spanish conquering Mexico? Fuck him and his privilege.

I love Olivia Colman, she's outstanding but didn't think her performance in The Favorite was Oscar worthy. She was good in it just like she is in everything else and I guess seeing her in Broadchurch her work in the Favorite pales in comparison.

Spike really turned me off tonight. He acted like a complete asshole.

First, when it was announced he won, Adam Driver stood up to shake Spike's hand and he basically brushed by Adam to get to the stage where he proceeded to hog the spotlight. Ignoring his co-writers and making the speech all about himself.

And getting up during Green Book's win.

This isn't surprising behaviour but he really went the extra mile tonight.

by Anonymousreply 519February 25, 2019 4:17 AM

R511, no photo yet but:

Per Deadline: “Pete Hammond, reporting from the Kodak Theatre, reported that Lee was clearly furious, got up and walked toward the back of the auditorium in a huff. He then turned back and appeared to get into an intense conversation with Jordan Peele, who was behind him. He was pacing the aisle and stormed to the back of the auditorium. When he came back, he turned his back to the stage during the speech.”

by Anonymousreply 524February 25, 2019 4:20 AM

All the musical performances tonight were truly terrible. Gaga and Bradley sounded awful. Jennifer Hudson was flat and off-key the whole song and her voice is not pretty. Bette Midler bored the crowd to tears. The Queen opening was underwhelming.

by Anonymousreply 525February 25, 2019 4:20 AM

The Wife was a terrible schlocky movie and Glenn Close’s role was off putting. “Oh just give all the credit to my dearly deceased hubbie even though it’s a lie and l hated it.” Well, she didn’t get credit for her trouble irl either.

by Anonymousreply 526February 25, 2019 4:22 AM

R525 Don’t forget that awful country song.

by Anonymousreply 527February 25, 2019 4:22 AM

I agree, r525. I wouldn't want any of those bad singers on my team.

by Anonymousreply 528February 25, 2019 4:23 AM

You could tell that GaGa really really wanted their song to be a MOMENT, and it just wasn't. They should have just gotten Kelly Clarkson to sing the song. She actually does better with it that Stef.

Spike Lee is a sore loser punk

by Anonymousreply 533February 25, 2019 4:25 AM

I want to suggest that Yorgos be selected to play Harvey Weinstein in the biopic.

When I turned to the TV and he was hugging Oliva's while she was still seated I was like "Oh no! Harvey's loose!"

by Anonymousreply 534February 25, 2019 4:25 AM

Julia killed - red hot

by Anonymousreply 535February 25, 2019 4:26 AM

So the tall, hot, whitish guy that was on stage with the menstruators, but didn't get to speak... I believe he is Director of Photography Sam Davis. He is also film-making partners with Rayka Zehtabchi who he kissed on the head. Are they also a couple?

This pic of him with his sister is several years old from his Instagram account.

by Anonymousreply 542February 25, 2019 4:33 AM

Spike Lee is a complete asshole. I agree. If a white guy did the same for a black film, he would have been branded a racist. Oprah also lost — she was saying Black Panther should win best picture. Imagine Glenn’s speech if she had won, working in her gold dress with the gold statue. Richard Burton never won, and had seven nominations. Deborah Kerr was a better actress than Glenn, and she never won. Can’t wait to see how the British papers respond to Olivia’s win. Go Olivia!

by Anonymousreply 543February 25, 2019 4:34 AM

Ironically Spike was dressed in EGGPLANT purple.

Mooley titsoon SOB!

by Anonymousreply 544February 25, 2019 4:36 AM

Brie Larson was PISSED that Glen Close lost she looked more angry about that than Casey Affleck winning!

by Anonymousreply 545February 25, 2019 4:37 AM

I never, ever want to hear from or about the "menstruators" again. That was cringetacular. You could tell no one in the audience knew how to take it. They certainly didn't want it, that's for sure.

by Anonymousreply 546February 25, 2019 4:37 AM

Olivia Colman is a really talented actress and deserved to win. She was also great in THE LOBSTER, also directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, who did THE FAVOURITE.

I would bet money that Melissa McCarthy came in second in the voting for Best Actress.

And I thought Burt Reynolds was pretty far down in the "IN MEMORIAM" section.

by Anonymousreply 547February 25, 2019 4:38 AM

What the hell is Bradley Cooper's mother doing there in the front row in sunglasses lol??? She was the only person in the room who didn't get up when Olivia Colman won. How many dates did have? I thought everyone gets a plus one?

by Anonymousreply 556February 25, 2019 4:49 AM

So paramedics were called because Rami fell off the stage and he could not take pictures with the other three actor winners? Did they take him to the hospital? Is his win jinxed? Or was it just a slight bruise and his has shown up at the VF party?

by Anonymousreply 557February 25, 2019 4:50 AM

Since when is Rami Malek a 'person of color?' He looks as white as Tom Fucking Hanks.

by Anonymousreply 558February 25, 2019 4:50 AM

Reports are coming in of a distraught woman dressed in gold walking in the middle of the intersection, singing angrily to herself. Sunset Blvd and Highland Ave. Units responding.

by Anonymousreply 559February 25, 2019 4:51 AM

R557 he was given the all clear. No hospital.

by Anonymousreply 560February 25, 2019 4:52 AM

Since always r558. Rami, Del Toro, Cuaron, the Roma actresses are all POC.

by Anonymousreply 561February 25, 2019 4:52 AM

Rami Malek does not look like Tom Hanks. He’s Egyptian and when you see his parents or siblings, yes, he’s a man of color. He just came out fair skinned. His bro and sister has more color.

by Anonymousreply 562February 25, 2019 4:53 AM

Rami fell off the stage?!

R551 MARY! Glenn should have won for the role r552 posted. She was amazing in that. She should have been strongly considered for supporting in Reversal of Fortune. This move simply didn't have "it". It was Lifetime movie quality, and she was serviceable, but not outstanding in it. I didn't see it scooping up a bunch of other awards. It was a hail, um, Mary (heh) nomination that a lot of people bought into because it was "about time Glenn won" For once, the Academy voters didn't roll over, and that was accurate.

I do think there were many split votes, which is to say Glenn and GaGa canceled each other out. I think Coleman really did get the honest majority vote as from what I've seen of it, she was in a very fun, light film. I would bet anything McCarthy was thisclose to her. People really like her, and I am so glad to see her moving from "fatty falls down" roles, to being given roles where we can see her impressive acting chops. I said earlier she is our new Kathy Bates, and I stand behind that.

by Anonymousreply 565February 25, 2019 4:57 AM

Is Glenn okay? That was humiliating

by Anonymousreply 566February 25, 2019 4:58 AM

I only knew Close from the Dalmation movies. Until about three years ago, I thought she was British.

by Anonymousreply 567February 25, 2019 5:00 AM

Rami fell because he was reeling from having to kiss on that beard of his not once, or twice, but thrice.

Actually, I like the thought that Freddie's ghost pushed his trifling ass off the stage for not thanking him.

by Anonymousreply 568February 25, 2019 5:01 AM

It sucks to be Ruth Bader Ginsburg, too. Her documentary lost tonight and the biopic starring Felicity Jones, which had a lot of Oscar buzz while it was being made, ended up being a critical and financial flop.

I liked Green Book r571, but mostly because of Mahershala and Viggo and the extraordinary soundtrack.

It tries too hard to be a feel-good movie.

by Anonymousreply 573February 25, 2019 5:08 AM

Rami fell?

by Anonymousreply 574February 25, 2019 5:09 AM

I am glad Green Book won although I would have preferred, VICE.

His only reason for winning was Freddie Mercury and he didn’t even name him. Then he talked about identity but thanked his beard. Ugh.

Spike Lee going Kanye over Green Book ... too bad that was not shown.

by Anonymousreply 581February 25, 2019 5:17 AM

r576 on a famous dick?!

by Anonymousreply 589February 25, 2019 5:27 AM

That was humiliation. Spike jumping into Samuel L's arms and then wrapping his legs around him like a baby chimp .... his behavior .... his antics in the Q and A after .... what a gross human ... i can see whites all around the country calling him a the N word and quite frankly it would be justifiable based on what he did tonight!

by Anonymousreply 590February 25, 2019 5:29 AM

R564 it was the ghost of Freddie Mercury pushing him the fuck off the stage for not even acknowledging him by name, nor the millions of men murdered by the virus they crammed into the 3rd act of Bohemian Rhapsody for dramatic effect.

by Anonymousreply 591February 25, 2019 5:30 AM

Someone please post the Paddy Chayefsky video where he says "I'm sick of people using the Academy Awards for their own personal propaganda and a simple 'thank you' would suffice."

What a garbage ceremony these days. No class at the awards.

by Anonymousreply 592February 25, 2019 5:31 AM

Re=watching the reaction shots from r487 That face on Glenn is pure cunt. Weird tight lipped angry "smile" face. I am thinking she hasn't made many friends in the Academy. If this is what the public sees, god knows what goes on behind the scenes.

by Anonymousreply 593February 25, 2019 5:33 AM

r493 Do you really think the governor of California has something to do with the Academy Awards? The Governor's Ball is hosted by the ACADEMY governor.

by Anonymousreply 597February 25, 2019 5:36 AM

R596 At least she has actually starred in movies unlike the TV stars, athletes, musicians and politicians that appeared on the show.

by Anonymousreply 598February 25, 2019 5:36 AM

"Bohemian Rhapsody" won more Oscars than "The Godfather." Drink that one in.

by Anonymousreply 599February 25, 2019 5:37 AM

R598 yes you’re right just can’t stand her

by Anonymousreply 600February 25, 2019 5:39 AM

Doris Day never won an Oscar either so maybe Glenn can find comfort in that.

by Anonymousreply 601February 25, 2019 5:57 AM

I love Olivia Coleman BUT she wasn't even the lead in the film, Emma and Rachel had more screen time and Olivia wasn't given all that much to do so surprised she won.

I just finished If Beale Street Could Talk and I can't believe King won for that dreck.

HAHAHA That bug eyed cicada bug FELL OFF THE STAGE!!!!

pathetic cunt

by Anonymousreply 602February 25, 2019 6:05 AM

I can't believe Mahershali Ali has TWO Oscars. And this second one for basically playing an Uncle Tom in a White Savior Movie of the Week.

I can't believe Rami Malek won for the awful pedophile directed Bohemian Rhapsody.

I can't believe Olivia Coleman won Best Actress in a film where Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz had larger and more showy roles.

I can't believe Green Bbook won Best Picture when it shouldn't even have been nominated. And shame on Octavia Spencer for being an executive producer on such cloying white-washed piddle.

Bad Oscar Year.
