Connor isn't the "teen idol" type, he does serious work, so he doesn't really have a "demo".

R16 I beg to differ. Miles is not "hot" at all in the traditional sense of the word, his appeal is completely different. He is highly androgynous, introverted & sensitive/emo and also possesses a neo-classical beauty....his eyes, nose and mouth are all flawless and could have come from ancient Greek sculpture. He has also grown into his face and body and is significantly better looking now, at 24, than he was 5 years ago. The ageing process actually seems to be agreeing with him, so far, at least and he could grow to become just as striking at 40 as he is at 24.

As to his future career, who can say? Landing any big role (such as 13RW) is about 95% luck for any actor and he at least has the opportunity to use his relatively high profile as a springboard to other future roles.

Finally, given that Connor is both an intellectual and aesthete I would highly doubt that he would date someone who was simply dumb and cute. In interviews, Miles consistently displays an arch and self-deprecating humour that suggests that there's plenty going on inside that pretty head of his.

R71 Despite having played an unusually large number of gay roles, Connor has had some mixed-gender love-interest too:

He kisses several lady women in the second season of American Crime, too. He's kind of similar to Ben Whishaw in that being gay hasn't stopped him from playing many gay roles, which is often not the case with gay actors.

Connor is more convincing playing str8 than Miles is. Miles should just play gay roles from now on.

Connor's character on Falling Skies could have gone down the gay route in season 2. In episode 2, his character Ben was close to this boy who then got killed by aliens, and Ben was grieving like he lost a bf! But in later seasons, the show chose to have Ben crush on older brother's gf instead as seen in R75.

Also, in season 2, Connor still looked a teenage brat, but by season 3, he looked like a teen idol, so I suppose the show wanted to use him to draw in the fangirls by giving him a female love interest.

OT question. Has there ever been a show that's consciously tried to attract male interest with a teen idol?

I've said this before, but it bears repeating. It's interesting to watch how Connor, in particular, is using Instagram to publically celebrate his relationship with Miles without actually having to officially Come Out.

I mean, clearly, they will be phoning/texting/skyping one another regularly, so IG is in no sense a necessary mode of communication between them, but Connor, mainly, and Miles, more recently (and more tentatively) have evidently felt that they also want to put things out into the public area. They don't need to do this but are choosing to do so specifically to let the world know that they are together and seem to be doing so very playfully too. Connor's IG posts typically get 30 to 50 comments, so not a vast number for him to keep tabs on, and every time there's a hint of Miles related content the majority of those comments are now aware that the two of them are in a relationship. They will obviously both be seeing this and are now intentionally fuelling those comments.

This seems to be a way for them (and, again, for Connor, in particular) to "let the world know" without actually discussing it in an interview, for instance. It's a form two-step Coming Out, or maybe they see it as a message for fans and friends but not quite for full public broadcast. Perhaps it's also a way of being true to themselves as much as they feel they can right now without getting hassle from their reps/agents.

Kevin McHale went down pretty much the same route before finally going fully public, but Miles has a much higher profile right now with Connor's own profile set to take off when Locke & Key hits Netflix, so it's pretty fascinating to see how this all evolves from here and how Connor and Miles choose to use both Social Media and the wider media to balance their public/private lives and loves.

I have mentioned Kevin McHale before. I see so many similarities between Kevin & Austin's relationship and Connor and Miles' relationship. Kevin wouldn't admit to being gay, but he was all over Austin's Instagran and Austin was all over his. Those who paid attention definitely picked up on it. I don't think Kevin ever planned to come out. According to himself he just said "fuck it" and posted the handholding pic then later on confirmed the relationship. Right now Connor and Miles are all over each other's Instagrams, with comments, likes and even selfies. Will be interesting to see if and when they will take the next step confirming it publicly. Sadly, they're both higher profile than Kevin and Austin were, so I don't see them confirming their relationship anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong though. R194 The 13RW production has over-run (or been re-scheduled, at least) due to the shoot having been closed down with the wildfires in Dec. It seems likely that Miles will still be working, come V-Day, and obviously Connor will be too, so it's highly unlikely they'll be able to be together.

Incidentally, I read that Miles (along with his fellow second tier co-stars) will be earning $120,000 per episode this season, so a whisker over $1.5 million in total.
