About 24 hours from the Oscar nomination announcement. It must be a daunting day for him while waiting, knowing that he could be the only hope for Amazon.

It would be very weird if he doesn't get the nomination. I know sometimes oscaras and GG are quite different but after being nominated to the critics choice and the baftas it would be very rare.

ON the other hand best actors nominations could have some surprises because the nominees were quite different in the different awards (apart of the big favourites)

If he´s going to campaign, he better do it soon because I read somewhere he had to be in France around February 4. He´ll probably skip the Oscar nominees luncheon too.

With the Green Book scandal, I think Ali's winning odd is now shaky. But since Timmy might be busy filming, it'd probably be Grant who might steal the win instead.

And about the discussion on the previous thread, i don't think the discussion about Ezra is being focused on his sexuality just because he came out as queer. He came out as queer long time ago and the discussion always was about his movies. But recently he made some interviews when he talks not about his sexuality but his sexual life, and of course the way he dresses on big events is something that can't be ignored.

He is a good actor but i seriously doubt he could land the role of the flash if he were acting back then the way he is acting right now. Because when he came out as queer he was dating a girl (he was one of those cases were at the time it was more about the headline than any real substance).

Even if Tim wasn't straight and decided to say something about it, i think it'll be more similar what Lucas did than to Ezra (or at least at what Ezra is doing now).

In my opinion after awards season he should avoid all the pr stuff, if the objective was watching him with a girl, it was done. If he continues the pr thing there'll be more questions and if he keeps reacting the way he did the positive effect will be gone

I kind of hope he doesn't get nominated. I fear he'll be Jennifer Lawrence'd if he get another one. His performance in BB was good for the material he had to work with and was the only stand out in an otherwise mediocre film. But even so, I feel the material he had to work with was not at a level that would warrant a nomination even though he did the best he could with it. Tim will definitely have other chances to be nominated for future work, so I hope he does not get the nom for this decent performance in a subpar film.

I just feel the media will oversaturate with news and praise filled articles about him that eventually the same social media that loves him now will turn on him and the media will follow and soon he will be called problematic, etc. Similar to what happened to JLaw, where once all of the things they loved about her suddenly became problematic and they started going in on her.

He's doing another BB Q & A on Wed night in NYC. So wish I could go. He'll be filming the Wes Anderson movie in Feb but I guess he'll be back for the Oscars? Not looking forward to March when Dune starts filming. There will be no news for several months. Not unless there's a fan in Budapest who sees him. lol

R15 people went in on Jlaw for many things, she wasn't deemed 'problematic' for no reason. They are very very different people and it's a pointless comparison. Timmy gets over-hyped at times and they really do need to be careful about over exposure, but he has the talent and charm to back it up right now and unless he shows some drastic change in personality he'll be fine

R17 Yes eventually she started doing questionable things to get really dragged for, but iirc the turned started when some began thinking that her personality was too tryhard. When she first hit the scene she was considered refreshing and super relatable because she burped and talked about farting and was dubbed the internet's best friend/galpal that everyone would just love to hang with. Then that same personality started being called tryhard and people side-eyed her falling during the Oscars. After the turn is when she started really doing dumb stuff like insulting the reporter and the butt scratching on the scared rock thing that were understandably strikes against her. I can see the giggly, awshucks, "I'm so cute and awkward" sort of thing that Tim has starting to come off grating especially second time award during award season. Hell, people in these thread that are actual fans of his are already getting tired of it, so just image how others will feel about it. That's all I am saying.

I’ve already heard some pundits turn on Timmy. One guy praised his performance when BB came out, saying he proved he could be one of the greatest young actors of our era even though the movie was terrible. Now he is saying that Chalamet could miss the nom and also hopes that he is not one of those actors that gets nominated for every mediocre performance just cause the Academy loves him. He also makes snide remarks about the Chalamet fandom. So yeah, just one example of someone who praised his acting and is now kind of over it cause of how intense the overal love for him is online.

Unfortunately I think people are much much quicker to take down actresses than an actor, and I think that even if at times some people are now rolling their eyes at Timmy being overly awkward and 'cute', he's gonna get away with it for a while cause people want to see a male actor who is awkward and relatable and 'non-threatening' as some people have put, more than they want to see an awkward #relatable actress. So long as he doesn't do as Jlaw did and start saying super dumb shit, and keep himself from being overexposed, he's gonna have a very different path to her

r14 I understand where you're coming from but his performance is actually exceptional. He transcends the material, much the way Glenn Close does in The Wife and even Rami Malek in Bohemian Crapsody. If the Oscars are truly about best performances (and we know they're not), he would be a shoo-in. As it stands, he's likely in and deserving. You'll never convince me that Adam Driver or Sam Elliot gave better performances no matter what you think of their films. PLUS, he's been campaigning his ass off and that doesn't go unnoticed.

The nature of these cycles for new IT boy/girl celebs is always the same. Intense hype, love, adoration eventually tapers into a backlash due to all the hype, then the hype dies down dramatically and the celeb, if they haven’t done anything egregious, continues to work steadily, continues to have fans, etc., but just without all the fervor that came at the beginning. Timmy will be fine even after the hype dies down and even if some turn against him, because it’s inevitable. But he’s talented, hard-working, and generally likeable so it’ll all be ok. He’s not going to be the IT boy forever because no one is but that really doesn’t matter in terms of his career longevity.

Yeah, haters, backlash etc is always inevitable. People really need to keep in perspective what it's all about. Not awards, nominatuons etc etc. Its only about your opinion and your liking and enjoyment of an actor's work. That is it. Too often people lose sight of that.

r24 there was nothing wrong with Glenn Close's material in The Wife! It was a solid screenplay, and Jonathan Pryce was also excellent Even Elizabeth McGovern shone, in a very small role. Yes Glenn's performance was exceptional but that was by no means a bad movie imo

Well Armie is a high school dropout ( funny how that's only used as an insult when directed at LRD) and doesn't come off all that mature in the way he acts out constantly, so Tim may just come off as way more mature to someone like Armie.
