Max said, "Joey never bought his own cigarettes"...How does that play into Dilione's pre-trial testimony, "Joey said, James brought coke, I brought cigarettes, what do you bring to the fucking table?" I think it was Dilione saying those words to Joey, expecting Joey to offer up something.

In the beginning, the sex angle was played up. Then it became about cigarettes.

The owner is offering a free month's rent to prospective tenants.

So, which story was the truth? Rack Jr. knocked on Rack Sr.'s door and announced that he was a Rack too or they met in a gym where Rack Jr. waved his 24 carat dick in front of the "jeweler to the stars."

But I love her. I don’t want anyone else” Repeat as necessary.

Sounds like Dilione was interested in Joey at the club and figured he couldn't get him back to the apartment unless he brought the girls too. I think the original premise that it was about Joey turning down sexual advances is the right one. Otherwise they would have let Joey go when the girls left.

Pat Comunale knew the building from his business and Joey would accompany his father there, so it's possible Rackover and Dilione had met Joey before that night.

Oh they had their eyes on him alright. The ruse that the night turned out to be a bust was a way to pressure him into sex. When he refused and put up a fight their rage bubbled over and they snapped and killed him instead.

Maybe Joey gave his phone to his buddy because he intuitively knew some potential shit might be going down that night and: didn't want his phone stolen; he didn't want his location tracked during said time period; or if he didn't return he'd asked his buddy to call his family/father.

When Joey had gone missing, it was his father who'd called Joey's phone.

Why would Rackover tell everyone to strip? Makes no sense. And why would they try to strangle Joey with a pair of jeans? That doesn't make sense either. A necktie, an extension cord, yes. But a pair of blue jeans?

I cannot help but give a side to the two guys dancing for the girls and not the other way around.

No one has mentioned that the entire episode depended on the cooperation of Joey's father Patsy, who was heavily featured. No way was he going to allow the producers to focus on the gay angle. It was briefly implied and immediately dropped. At least it was mentioned. CBS took what they could get to show the story, No way Pat was going to be involved and have that element dwelled on.

Otherwise, it was pretty good, considering the concerns of Patsy, who had to be involved to make the episode happen. Also, many details had to be dropped to keep the show in a hour time slot.

There were lies. The reason Joey's friend ended up with Joey's phone was that it had a tracking app on it that was available to Joey's father. Joey ditched the phone with his friend so that Daddy couldn't track him, not by accident as the show claimed.

Still, the episode wouldn't have happened without Patsy's cooperation and he obviously controlled some of the narrative to allow it. At least the show happened for those of us who knew how to read between the lines when necessary.

They used the girls and Jr Racs apt as a ruse to separate Joey from his friends outside the club, and get him to continue the party where they could control the situation.

That is probably true, r142, but the point of my post was that CBS almost certainly let Papa C. control the narrative of what we saw Saturday night to get his participation, not what actually happened.

All crimes are senseless, but there really appears to be no motive here. All were well to do and could have just let the kid go and have been on on their merry way.

There has to be a motive and we probably will never know.

Back in 2009, I moved back to my hometown in NJ. A bunch of guys I knew from high school happened to be getting divorced. These were not guys I'd been friends with in school. Darren comes back at 3am with some story about how he lost Dave. They got into a fight, and Dave leaped out of the car. We lived near the shore (natch) so I was worried Dave wound up in the water. Or had been arrested. All Darren cared about was that Dave had the coke on him.

I went out searching for Dave in Sea Bright and Rumson. Rumson is like the Beverly Hills of New Jersey. There was also a cop car searching for someone. Eventually, I talked to the cops who flagged me down. At this point, I was concerned for Dave's life, so I spilled the whole story, minus Darren's name and the coke.

Of course, they asked me who Dave's friend was. I had no choice but to answer. "Darren Monahan" The cops told me someone had been seen laying down in bushes in the area. They seemed very suspicious of me.

I go home. The girl who was living with us said "Darren just called me freaked out. The cops just banged on his door and questioned him" Just then, he called her again. I told her "TELL HIM NOT TO COME HERE" I could hear him yelling and screaming that he was on his way. When she hung up I told her to text him that the cops were coming here, so he better not come. I locked the house up tight, and hid in my room.

At about 6am I went out again to find Dave. I turn down Rumson Road and BOOM there he his. One shoe missing. Kind of lumbering. I pull up, he gets in the car. I'm crying and I kiss him. He tells me he spent most of the morning ducking police cars in Rumson. He had no memory of the night. No memory of going out with Darren at all.

The state's highest court, The Appellate Court (the equivalent of most states' Supreme Court) has declared the death penalty unconstitutional, so the laws aren't enforced and no prosecutor will go for the death penalty. But the laws are technically still there as they haven't been repealed by the Legislature.

^ I should add that Federal Law still allows the death penalty (and murdering a law enforcement officer is a Federal offense). But Rackover Jr. was convicted in NY state court and Dillione pled guilty in NY state court, so the DP is off the table.

News reports indicate he tried to back out of last months guilty plea, fired his lawyer and just yesterday, filed another plea claiming his guilty plea was coerced. The judge would not entertain his new claim and gave him the max sentence for manslaughter...23 years.

Think about this scenario....in January, Larry pleaded guilty. Who knows what prompted him to do so just days before his trial. He had a month to think about that. One month later, on the day before sentencing, he fires his lawyer and attempts to change his plea to not guilty on all charges. He must have had some idea about the length of his prison term. But what made him do the about-face? Perhaps information he provided impacted a few influential inmates or maybe, word on the street got back to him and he received a "message" regarding impending"consequences" on the inside. Could he have made a last ditch effort to save face with the prison hierarchy with a new plea of not guilty? Of course, I am just speculating. But, there was something tha made him change his mind...even if it was just to postpone the inevitable just for a few more months. Now, he's fresh young meat for those prison vultures.
