Oh, the geniuses on the previous thread declared that there's no point in voting because the Supreme Court is fucked.
Fuck you, fake concerned Democrats.
I'm not going to cry all night because some Debbie Downer on Datalounge wants me to think the Democrats didn't do well, and even if they did, it doesn't matter anyway.
Fuck all of you, and that includes the return of our prodigal son VOTN, who declared in Part 6 that the Dems didn't do a stellar enough job tonight.
We did great. The Repugs learned 40 years ago that winning smaller elections, consistently making small gains, is what would get them power in the end. We made more than a small gain tonight, we made big gains, and we have momentum.
Thingsdon't change overnight and everyone here is definitely old enough to know that by now. So maybe start acting like it.

It sucks that the GOP is picking up probably several Senate seats from very vulnerable Democrats. As for Beto, he came so close in a state where conventional wisdom said he shouldn’t, and there was a definite halo effect of his campaign onto other House races where Democrats were victorious.
O’Rourke is just getting started.

Yes, although Montana is a Red State, it still often votes for Democrats.
It has a Democratic Governor, a Democratic Senator, and it voted for Bill Clinton once, and nearly voted for Obama in 2008.

[quote]These 3 states (Florida, Texas, Ohio), are in the R pockets due to Gerrymandering, machine hacking, etc.). We will never get any wins here.
And those are three of the most important states. We needed them badly tonight, esp the governorships. I do think there was tinkering in FL, given the felon voting initiative passed but the progressive candidates did not. Something smells badly and it ain't fish.
We need to roll up our sleeves and work, work, work for the next two years. Build on what we won tonight. Analyze it carefully over the coming weeks, and then begin debate about the head of the ticket in 2020. There are lessons here to takeaway. LEARN. R 569 from the prior Part 6 post is a great post, a good start.

Powers The Constitution vests certain exclusive powers in the House of Representatives, including the right to initiate impeachment proceedings and to originate revenue bills. The organization and character of the House of Representatives have evolved under the influence of political parties, which provide a means of controlling proceedings and mobilizing the necessary majorities. Party leaders, such as the speaker of the House and the majority and minority leaders, play a central role in the operations of the institution. However, party discipline (i.e., the tendency of all members of a political party to vote in the same way) has not always been strong, owing to the fact that members, who must face reelection every two years, often vote the interests of their districts rather than their political party when the two diverge.
A further dominating element of House organization is the committee system, under which the membership is divided into specialized groups for purposes such as holding hearings, preparing bills for the consideration of the entire House, and regulating House procedure. Each committee is chaired by a member of the majority party. Almost all bills are first referred to a committee, and ordinarily the full House cannot act on a bill until the committee has “reported” it for floor action. There are approximately 20 standing (permanent) committees, organized mainly around major policy areas, each having staffs, budgets, and subcommittees. They may hold hearings on questions of public interest, propose legislation that has not been formally introduced as a bill or resolution, and conduct investigations. Among important standing committees are those on appropriations, on ways and means (which handles matters related to finance), and on rules. There are also select and special committees, which are usually appointed for a specific project and for a limited period.
The committees also play an important role in the control exercised by Congress over governmental agencies. Cabinet officers and other officials are frequently summoned before the committees to explain policy. The Constitution (Article I, section 6) prohibits members of Congress from holding offices in the executive branch of government—a chief distinction between parliamentary and congressional forms of government.
After the census of 1920, Northeastern and Midwestern states held 270 House seats and the South and West held 169. Thereafter, the balance between the two regions gradually shifted: following the 2010 census, the Northeast and Midwest accounted for only 172 seats, compared with the South and West’s 263. Most notably, the number of representatives from New York declined from 45 in the 1930s to only 27 in 2012, while the number from California increased from 11 to 53.

MSNBC Puts Florida Governor Race Vote-Total Graphic Onscreen A Wee Bit Early
The nation got an impossibly early peek at the outcome of the hotly-contested Florida governor's race on MSNBC – after the network mistakenly posted a graphic of the results before the polls even opened.
The network posted a graphic showing the two candidates, Democrat Andrew Gillum and Republican Ron DeSantis, who are facing off in one of the nation's marquis contests, during its Monday night broadcast.
Deadline Hollywood, which posted a screen grab of the graphic, showed it had Gillum grabbing a narrow victory. It had precise vote totals with a 49.4 to 48.8 and a gap of fewer than 46,000 votes

Democrats have gained a trifecta in Maine. They picked-up the governorship, AND flipped the state Senate; they already had the House.

by Anonymous | reply 554 | November 7, 2018 6:11 AM |
Yuck, Willie Geist now on MSNBC with Steve Kornacki. Geist has no charisma.
by Anonymous | reply 555 | November 7, 2018 6:11 AM |
R495, will you tell us what will you text your brother, please? And how he responds.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | November 7, 2018 6:11 AM |
Nevada will have a Dem governor and Dem legislature for first time in DECADES.
by Anonymous | reply 557 | November 7, 2018 6:11 AM |
R547, Heller is doing worse in Washoe County in 2018 than he did in 2012.
Unless Heller gets better numbers when Clark County comes in, he will probably be defeated.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | November 7, 2018 6:12 AM |
I second that, R557.
by Anonymous | reply 559 | November 7, 2018 6:12 AM |
THRILLED that Scott Walker is toast! Goodbye, asshole.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | November 7, 2018 6:12 AM |
Californians move to Nevada all the time. I think that's what's done it. Maybe.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | November 7, 2018 6:13 AM |
Steven Horsford and Susie Lee for NV4 and NV3!
by Anonymous | reply 563 | November 7, 2018 6:13 AM |
Vaughan Hillyard just said the AZ Senate race may not be decided until Thursday because a lot of early/ absentee/ whatever votes that have to be counted.
by Anonymous | reply 564 | November 7, 2018 6:14 AM |
So glad Walker is out. Maybe now Steve Avery and Brandon whatshisname will get a fair shake.
Wait... Steve Avery’s probably a Deplorable, isn’t he.
by Anonymous | reply 566 | November 7, 2018 6:14 AM |
Rosen would be some good Senate news...finally. Hopefully she can get it
by Anonymous | reply 567 | November 7, 2018 6:15 AM |
I don't think Walker even gets a recount. HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LOSERRRR!!!!
Koch brothers' sociopath toadie just couldn't do it this time!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 568 | November 7, 2018 6:15 AM |
Was Rosen expected to lose?
by Anonymous | reply 569 | November 7, 2018 6:16 AM |
R566, Ralston predicted last week that Rosen and Sisolak would win, so it looks like he was right again.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | November 7, 2018 6:16 AM |
Walker losing is the best Dem win of the night!
by Anonymous | reply 571 | November 7, 2018 6:16 AM |
R567, I had to think for a sec what you were talking about. Brandon totally needs a fair shake, but Steve... um...
by Anonymous | reply 572 | November 7, 2018 6:16 AM |
I'm praying to Christ almighty that Putin's bagman from CA-48 (aka The OC) Dana Rohrbacher LOSES to Harley Routa.
With 62% reporting, Routa is in the lead by 600 votes.
70,513 to 69,913.
I will be giddy if career scumbag Rohrbacher is sent packing.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | November 7, 2018 6:17 AM |
Florida and Texas, trash states.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | November 7, 2018 6:17 AM |
Kellyanne Conway talked to the press for 30 minutes saying the Democrats better not investigate Trump too much. LOLOLOLOL!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 575 | November 7, 2018 6:17 AM |
I was watching CNN earlier and one of the annoying Republicans was like “Walker is unstoppable!”
Hahahahaha!
by Anonymous | reply 576 | November 7, 2018 6:18 AM |
As if anyone cares what Kellyanne Conway has to say. The White House is going to get 100 times more chaotic and backstabbing now.
by Anonymous | reply 577 | November 7, 2018 6:18 AM |
R575 filled with trash people( but miami and austin are cool)
by Anonymous | reply 578 | November 7, 2018 6:18 AM |
R563 I agree. I’m a Californian now living in Las Vegas.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | November 7, 2018 6:19 AM |
Get those motherfucking tax returns!!!
by Anonymous | reply 580 | November 7, 2018 6:19 AM |
R580, thank you for your service!!!
by Anonymous | reply 581 | November 7, 2018 6:19 AM |
Rosen (D) has now opened up a 5-point lead on Heller (R) in Nevada:
by Anonymous | reply 582 | November 7, 2018 6:20 AM |
R576, I saw that, too. What a stupid cunt. Oh no! Democrats better not investigate anything! Kellyanne says it’s a waste of time!
What the FUCK does that evil cunt think she or anyone else is going to do about it? Is she out of her mind?
by Anonymous | reply 583 | November 7, 2018 6:20 AM |
Vegas is way cheaper so lots of dems from hawaii and california move there.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | November 7, 2018 6:21 AM |
Dems need to colonize more fucking states. CO, NV, and VA are great examples!
by Anonymous | reply 585 | November 7, 2018 6:21 AM |
It needs to be a thing, like Indivisible -- figuring out where to move or whatever to make states purple then blue. Like when people moved to Kansas and Missouri before the Civil War, with both sides moving to each to make them slave/free states.
by Anonymous | reply 586 | November 7, 2018 6:22 AM |
Rosen (D) ahead of Heller (R) by nearly 7 points in Nevada now:
by Anonymous | reply 587 | November 7, 2018 6:23 AM |
Democrat Susie Lee won NV-3
by Anonymous | reply 588 | November 7, 2018 6:24 AM |
Need to get more californians to move to texas.
by Anonymous | reply 589 | November 7, 2018 6:24 AM |
So will the disgusted suburban Republicans voting "D" this time return to the fold for Pence or another Republican in the future?

CNN CALLS NEVADA FOR JACKY ROSEN
by Anonymous | reply 592 | November 7, 2018 6:25 AM |
Puerto Rico needs to be recognized as a state and given the right to vote.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | November 7, 2018 6:25 AM |
R592, what’s close about it?
by Anonymous | reply 594 | November 7, 2018 6:25 AM |
R590, it's weird, because the Californians moving to Texas are notably conservative.
by Anonymous | reply 595 | November 7, 2018 6:26 AM |
NV isn't close, R592. Rosen is winning, hands down.
by Anonymous | reply 596 | November 7, 2018 6:26 AM |
I know a couple Californian gays who moved back to TX (Austin) not so long ago, and voted for Beto.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | November 7, 2018 6:26 AM |
R592, with 27% in the Times was showing Heller as winning... AP, too.
by Anonymous | reply 598 | November 7, 2018 6:26 AM |
TONY EVERS WINS! NO RECOUNT!
by Anonymous | reply 599 | November 7, 2018 6:27 AM |
Oh the Times was slow in updating -- now it's 76% in. Sorry.
by Anonymous | reply 600 | November 7, 2018 6:27 AM |
Hispanics are 20 percent of the population in Colorado and growing and helped solidify this as a blue state. I think the Latino vote helped in Kansas too. The problem with Latinos in Texas and Florida is many of them vote GOP.
by Anonymous | reply 601 | November 7, 2018 6:27 AM |
R592, the NYT results page is behind in the count.
Rosen is now well ahead of Heller, and CNN just called Nevada for her.
by Anonymous | reply 602 | November 7, 2018 6:28 AM |
Dirty Dean Heller -- LOSER!
by Anonymous | reply 603 | November 7, 2018 6:28 AM |
r575, you can add Ohio to your list of shithole states. Guess I need to start seriously looking to move west. I can't even.
