The Dems can still take control of the House, but it might not be pretty. A win is a win though if they pull it off.

by Anonymousreply 1November 7, 2018 12:35 AM

Gillum and Nelson both losing at 91% reporting

by Anonymousreply 2November 7, 2018 12:35 AM

Not good

by Anonymousreply 3November 7, 2018 12:36 AM

Still over half a million votes to be counted in Blue Florida counties

by Anonymousreply 4November 7, 2018 12:36 AM

God knows that Florida does not necessarily represent the rest of the country.

by Anonymousreply 5November 7, 2018 12:37 AM

Nelson leaked that Russians helped before in Florida and was proven right so wouldn't be shocked if that's what happening here.

by Anonymousreply 6November 7, 2018 12:37 AM

Sadly Ripigs will always out vote Dems.

by Anonymousreply 7November 7, 2018 12:37 AM

CNN on the Gillum vs Desantis race: Either the polling was off or people who said they were going to vote for Gillum didn't.

by Anonymousreply 8November 7, 2018 12:37 AM

Very good. Counties that voted for Gillum and Nelson are not reporting 100%

by Anonymousreply 9November 7, 2018 12:37 AM

To R594 in the previous thread - in Britain there's something called the Shy Tory - people who are ashamed to admit to pollers that they vote Conservative, and so lie, and twist the polls. It resulted in the 1992 and 2015 UK exit polls being wrong, which is unusual for British polling. It might be the same thing in the US

Im sorry, for those results in both Georgia and Florida, there is something seriously wrong......and its not the voters.

by Anonymousreply 11November 7, 2018 12:37 AM

*repigs

by Anonymousreply 12November 7, 2018 12:37 AM

The fear is the FL panhandle will aid Repubs, tonight is gonna be a stomach punch.

by Anonymousreply 13November 7, 2018 12:38 AM

[quote]Gillum and Nelson both losing at 91% reporting

Yes, although there are lots of votes left in Broward & Miami-Dade.

by Anonymousreply 14November 7, 2018 12:38 AM

Georgia was always a long shot, Abrams was behind based on polling.

by Anonymousreply 15November 7, 2018 12:38 AM

Or somebody cheated! Don’t forget that.

by Anonymousreply 16November 7, 2018 12:38 AM

Rethugs never seemed concerned at all about a Blue Wave. Geez, wonder why.

by Anonymousreply 17November 7, 2018 12:38 AM

Beto is leading with 52.8%, 47% reporting.

by Anonymousreply 18November 7, 2018 12:38 AM

Republicans voted huge in this election in a way that is unprecedented for a midterm party that controls the White House. Also, independents apparently voted much more Republican than expected

by Anonymousreply 19November 7, 2018 12:38 AM

Show me Penn Congressional Districts please. New Jersey too.

by Anonymousreply 20November 7, 2018 12:39 AM

I was going to jerk off later out of happiness but might have to jerk off now out of sadness.

by Anonymousreply 21November 7, 2018 12:39 AM

R18 still.a lot to go in Trump country. Sadly, Beto will lose.

by Anonymousreply 22November 7, 2018 12:39 AM

Yeah the Trump voters still turned out in huge numbers r19, they did not stay home.

by Anonymousreply 23November 7, 2018 12:40 AM

Georgia's most populous county may not be finished being counted until perhaps midnight!!

by Anonymousreply 24November 7, 2018 12:40 AM

I fucking hate this country

by Anonymousreply 25November 7, 2018 12:40 AM

There were like 5 or 6 republicans who went to Russia on July 4th, 2018. Anybody remember who they were? If any of them were on the ballots then all of those states need to be redone.

by Anonymousreply 26November 7, 2018 12:40 AM

Part 5, The End of Democracy in America

by Anonymousreply 27November 7, 2018 12:40 AM

jesus fucking christ what the FUCK is wrong with AmeriKKKa? What will it take for people to vote Democrat? All the bigotry, corruption and lies of the repubs and it doesn't matter.

by Anonymousreply 28November 7, 2018 12:41 AM

Does anyone else want to give John King a vicious faceslapping? He and Wolf are dominating the night with their fucking PlayStation. It's driving me nuts. Either that or I am sick to my stomach about how this is going....

by Anonymousreply 29November 7, 2018 12:41 AM

R18 The problem is most of the rural areas aren't counted yet and I don't see them voting for Beto

by Anonymousreply 30November 7, 2018 12:41 AM

Amendment 4 in FL (restoring voting rights to felons) is looking good so far.

by Anonymousreply 31November 7, 2018 12:41 AM

Shaun King: One thing is clear - and it's painful.

Tonight is not going to be a clear repudiation of Donald Trump, white supremacy, Islamophobia, and bigotry. It just isn't.

Half of this country is clearly holding on to those things for dear life.

by Anonymousreply 32November 7, 2018 12:41 AM

This is looking more like 2016.

by Anonymousreply 33November 7, 2018 12:41 AM

I'm no where close to giving up. I need the House, Beto and Florida.

by Anonymousreply 34November 7, 2018 12:41 AM

R23 why are you convinced that they turned up in huge numbers? Why aren't you convinced that they're manipulating the numbers again?

by Anonymousreply 35November 7, 2018 12:42 AM

too many god damned white evil bigots in this fucking country

by Anonymousreply 36November 7, 2018 12:42 AM

21 republican house seats leaning Dem.

by Anonymousreply 37November 7, 2018 12:42 AM

AND AFTER TONIGHT MOST OF YOU WILL STILL LOVE YOUR REPIG FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO VOTE AGAINST YOU.

PUNCH AND DELETE.

by Anonymousreply 38November 7, 2018 12:42 AM

it just seems like when you watch tv and see around the country that most people HATE Trump. How the fuck is it possible that the repubs are still winning and there's no blue wave. so disgusting

by Anonymousreply 39November 7, 2018 12:43 AM

I will not be voting in 2020.

Tired of this fucking shit. Another 6 years of Trump and the Trump twats.

by Anonymousreply 40November 7, 2018 12:43 AM

Beto isn't going to win, they've barely begun the more rural areas.

by Anonymousreply 41November 7, 2018 12:43 AM

Nate Silver with his 80 percent probability is the most useless pollster around. He always gives people a false sense of optimism.

by Anonymousreply 42November 7, 2018 12:43 AM

Got to bed. You are too volatile for this stage of the count. Blue precincts report last because THATS WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE.

by Anonymousreply 43November 7, 2018 12:43 AM

[quote]This is looking more like 2016.

How many times do we need to read this?

by Anonymousreply 44November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

Tyranny in the US. We may have a holocaust—keep on denying what is happening as we watch and whine, America.

by Anonymousreply 45November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

They stole it again with the help of the Russians. Come On! Do you really think all those young voters in Georgia and Texas were voting for Trump? Please! This is what I always feared and this is what happened. The shit Republicans stole it again.!

by Anonymousreply 46November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

R40 so you’re voting for Trump then.

by Anonymousreply 47November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

Georgia is so messed up that even Kemp had problems voting for himself

I really want to punch you in the face.

by Anonymousreply 49November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

Not true r36....this is a result of tampering, plain and simple. I knew that the minute Trump started predicting a Red Wave about 2 months ago.

by Anonymousreply 50November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

Nate Silver is not a pollster r42, 538 runs zero polls, they just use the polls that everyone else runs.

by Anonymousreply 51November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

All I want is the house at this point. I had no expectations from racist southern states.

by Anonymousreply 52November 7, 2018 12:44 AM

I dread 2020. Trump is going to to be a 2 term president. The deplorables showed up for him this year even when he wasn't even on the ballot. They'll go nuts in 2020 for him. And the big talk/no show progressives will do their usual disappearing act.

Oh and the voter suppression/cheating helps too.

by Anonymousreply 53November 7, 2018 12:45 AM

the fucking problem as I've said in other threads is that too many liberals are fucking clustered in limited areas. This means that even though there are more of us overall, there are more repubs spread out in more states.

by Anonymousreply 54November 7, 2018 12:45 AM

[quote]Nate Silver with his 80 percent probability is the most useless pollster around. He always gives people a false sense of optimism.

He is not a pollster. He is a statistician. He averages other people's polls.

by Anonymousreply 55November 7, 2018 12:45 AM

At the end of the day the House is what matters the most r52.

by Anonymousreply 56November 7, 2018 12:45 AM

Democrat Donna Shalala wins the House seat representing Florida's 27th Congressional District over Republican Maria Elvira Salazar, giving Dems the night's second pickup

by Anonymousreply 57November 7, 2018 12:45 AM

If things don't go the way we hope all it means is that we have a whole lot of work to do on legislative redistricting. We have lawsuits to file and investigations to demand, and we have to put tons of public pressure on public officials. We absolutely started too late to try to clean up the suppression, fraud, gerrymandering, etc. and other infrastructure issues. The infrastructure issues are serious and they go right down to the county and cities too. City Clerks county clerks local election commissions, etc. The machines are old the IT issues aside from being open to hacking, are just not up to standard. It's embarrassing. The states aren't investing money to rebuild upgrade and modernize the way people vote. And the ID laws are stupid. We are getting more governors so that will hep. We were never going to change the world in one night. We have work to do. If things don't go the way we hope they will, we just have to keep pushing back. I'm not going to decide that the whole world sucks. I think we also have to keep pushing the media to call out the lies. We cannot allow the fraud the lies and the vitriol to become our standard of behavior.

by Anonymousreply 59November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

Not looking good for Florida -- Scott and Even More Evil Scott are leading for senator and governor.

by Anonymousreply 60November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

[quote]How the fuck is it possible that the repubs are still winning and there's no blue wave. so disgusting

Voter suppression and Russia.

There were GOP members who literally went to russia on July 4th. You know the day to celebrate America? And GOP did nothing to help elections be more secure.

by Anonymousreply 61November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

We are in a war, and this is one battle. No matter what happens, we have deepened our organizational ground game, and identified new leaders. We cannot concede to Nazis.

by Anonymousreply 62November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

[quote] I will not be voting in 2020.

[quote] Tired of this fucking shit. Another 6 years of Trump and the Trump twats.

R44 then in my book you are worse than the people who do support Trump, you don't support him but won't vote against him, God you are one stupid shit.

by Anonymousreply 63November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

But he puts out predictions based on polls which give people false expectations.

by Anonymousreply 64November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

R40, how do you expect to ever win if you fold after a couple of elections? People fought their whole lives and for generations before getting stuff done.

This defeatism is self-sabotage. Why would you want to make it easier for the deplorables?

by Anonymousreply 65November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

They stole it in 2016 and it looks like they are going to steal it again. And then talk about how there was a red wave. Disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 66November 7, 2018 12:46 AM

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. IF Democrats don't take back the house, they can no longer cater to far lestists. I live in OK, one of the redder states in our country. Abortion and unfortunately lgbt rights are still "issues" for people. A more moderate stance, and working from there will give Democrats back control. Still holding onto hope though, I have faith! #Drew4OK

by Anonymousreply 67November 7, 2018 12:47 AM

CNN reporting Democrats leading in 21 Republican-held house districts; is this an official vote count, or just poll numbers?

by Anonymousreply 68November 7, 2018 12:47 AM

Look at R40 's history and you'll see exactly what it's doing.

by Anonymousreply 69November 7, 2018 12:47 AM

MI Democrat Rashida Tlaib has won #MI13 -- FIRST Muslim woman ever elected to Congress

by Anonymousreply 70November 7, 2018 12:47 AM

Sigh. So much for the Blue Wave. The Dems may not even get the House.

by Anonymousreply 71November 7, 2018 12:47 AM

Sure r64, Silver makes predictions based on the polls, and if the polls are wrong, he will be wrong.

by Anonymousreply 72November 7, 2018 12:47 AM

R54 This country is held hostage by the white bigoted minority left out in the hinterland.

by Anonymousreply 73November 7, 2018 12:48 AM

I think the dems will get the House.

by Anonymousreply 74November 7, 2018 12:48 AM

R65. Good point. It took black people 100 years after the Civil War for segregation to end.

by Anonymousreply 75November 7, 2018 12:48 AM

There are enough people in Corpus Christi and El Paso to make up for the cowtowns in the middle of Texas. I've driven through those places, no one lives there. El Paso is not a small City and it's Beto's hometown. He already flipped reliably red Williamson County. Texas Dems have always said if Williamson County ever went blue, Texas becomes purple.

by Anonymousreply 79November 7, 2018 12:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 80November 7, 2018 12:49 AM

- Abortion and unfortunately lgbt rights are still "issues" for people. A more moderate stance, and working from there will give Democrats back control

And there is the problem...how does one have moderate stance on such issues?

by Anonymousreply 81November 7, 2018 12:49 AM

Donnelly losing means expect several Dem loses in the senate. McCaskill and Heidi are goners. Possibly Tester as well.

Just to warn you.

by Anonymousreply 82November 7, 2018 12:49 AM

Pollsters are bullshitters. Hello, Kellyanne Conway’s Twitter handle is still @KellyannePolls, referring to her polling company. They are spin artists who use polls as leverage to influence sheeplike people to do make their predictions self-fulfilling. I’m so sick of this country’s naivety.

by Anonymousreply 83November 7, 2018 12:49 AM

95% of the vote now in in Florida

by Anonymousreply 84November 7, 2018 12:50 AM

I'm sorry to say this as I know most posters here vote for Dems, but things won't really change until the last remnants of the Silent Gen die and then most Baby Boomers die off. White heterosexual people over 45 are majority repub NO MATTER WHAT

by Anonymousreply 85November 7, 2018 12:50 AM

Ayanna Pressley is officially Massachusetts's first black congresswoman

by Anonymousreply 87November 7, 2018 12:50 AM

McCaskill trailing in MISSOURI, but only 1% of the vote in.

by Anonymousreply 88November 7, 2018 12:50 AM

The big Republican early voting numbers should have been a big clue things were off

by Anonymousreply 89November 7, 2018 12:51 AM

Wow. Things don't go the way you wanted so you quit. You get angry, discouraged, disillusioned disappointed. Awww. One of the reasons the Republicans keep winning is because they never act like losers. They never accept defeat. They will not admit they lost. They just keep pushing. Keep raising hell. They are tough and determined. One thing I am definitely going to do is invest more money in the ACLU and in Indivisible and MoveOn. They are all doing a lot of heavy lifting. And we have regained some governors seats tonight.

by Anonymousreply 90November 7, 2018 12:51 AM

CNN now saying 96% of the vote in in Florida

by Anonymousreply 91November 7, 2018 12:51 AM

repubs have full control of the country and they're STILL FUCKING PISSED OFF. They are evil people.

by Anonymousreply 92November 7, 2018 12:51 AM

NATHANIEL RAKICH 8:49 PM The AP has called the Kentucky 6th District for Republican Rep. Andy Barr. It’s not a seat Democrats needed, but it’s one they wanted, for sure. Barr currently leads McGrath 51 percent to 48 percent with 94 percent reporting.

by Anonymousreply 93November 7, 2018 12:51 AM

I think we who live away from the middle of the country just don’t get the sad fact they aren’t US. Tonight will be another shock, but now we need to really start navel gazing.

by Anonymousreply 94November 7, 2018 12:51 AM

Yes, this. There are far more people who say they agree with Democratic principles than Republican. They just don't bother to vote. They are to blame much more than Republican "bigots."

by Anonymousreply 99November 7, 2018 12:52 AM

R89. I think I saw MSNBC report that once after early voting ended. I watch quite a bit and it wasn’t covered like you’d expect.

by Anonymousreply 100November 7, 2018 12:52 AM

We haven’t had a real election since at least 2000 - we should have rioted then.

To all of you moaning- did you volunteer for the Democrats? I did.

But to R538 of the last thread, do you understand that Title IX was written to give women equal educational opportunities and Obama and the hysterical selfish but very powerful Translobby, really fucked up changing the wording from sex to gender?

That pissed off women, especially parents, so really maybe rethink depriving the more than 50% of the population who are women of their rights in favor of the 0.2% of men who think they’re women.

by Anonymousreply 101November 7, 2018 12:52 AM

to the poster in the last thread who asked about the cunt Kim Davis, the guy running against her is gay.

She denied him a marriage license. I donated to his campaign.

by Anonymousreply 102November 7, 2018 12:53 AM

[quote] This country is imprisoned by people who don't vote.

I need this on a t-shirt.

You can't imagine how defeated I feel. I've registered so many people to vote, canvassed, talked to friends, family and students. I spent my day ferrying people back and forth to the polls.

by Anonymousreply 103November 7, 2018 12:53 AM

100% of voters don't have to be in love with the current "Trump" economy and job market. Just 51%. That's part of what's happening here.

by Anonymousreply 104November 7, 2018 12:53 AM

and most of the liberals who vote live in liberal clusters. It's the liberals in the battleground states who let us down again and again.

Florida has MORE REGISTERED DEMOCRATS yet the state consistently goes repub ugh

by Anonymousreply 105November 7, 2018 12:53 AM

I'll continue to vote but I just don't think I can be this involved anymore. It's too painful. Not just disappointing but honest to god painful.

by Anonymousreply 106November 7, 2018 12:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 107November 7, 2018 12:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 109November 7, 2018 12:54 AM

R65 is wise. Trump is evil. He, and everything he represents, have to be fought, and it could be a long war. We can't simply whimper and give up.

by Anonymousreply 110November 7, 2018 12:54 AM

Oh fuck! I wish I hadn't come here to catch up on voting results. I am sick at my stomach. The bigots, homophobes and racists win again! But not fairly- we fucking KNOW Russia hacked the vote. I feel so bad for the future and the heart and soul of the country. Voting shenanigans. God damn those racist pigs all to hell.

by Anonymousreply 111November 7, 2018 12:55 AM

I don't live in California, I know there is a huge latino population there, but I also know they are heavily impacted by immigration. How did Trump and the Republicans message regarding immigration go over there?

by Anonymousreply 112November 7, 2018 12:55 AM

I’m still holding out hope for Beto. Watch the numbers for Fort Worth and Tarrant County. If Beto stays close or takes the lead, he just may win.

by Anonymousreply 113November 7, 2018 12:55 AM

Florida is a lost cause, has been since Bush v Gore 2000. Where was the black and Latino vote for Gillum?

by Anonymousreply 114November 7, 2018 12:55 AM

In 2016 more people voted for the Democrat for President, for the Democrat US Senate candidates and for their Democratic US House of Representative than for Republicans. Republicans won the President because of the electoral college, the House because of gerrymandering, and the Senate because Democrats have ghettoized themselves to the two coasts.

by Anonymousreply 115November 7, 2018 12:55 AM

R81 I don't think that is it because many of these deplorables had no problem voting for Obama. The exception of what you mentioned is the T of the LGBT.

The trans movement came in after Obama was in office so that is the one thing of what you mentioned that is a "new" issue.

by Anonymousreply 116November 7, 2018 12:55 AM

The Kentucky vote means no big blue wave. Florida is looking very shaky.

by Anonymousreply 117November 7, 2018 12:56 AM

if we don't get the house, you can kiss any chance of seeing the Mueller report results. You know a repub controlled Congress will vote to keep it away from the public

by Anonymousreply 120November 7, 2018 12:56 AM

I do love Eugene Robinson - so classy, so erudite. You can sense his disappointment.

by Anonymousreply 121November 7, 2018 12:56 AM

I'm really disappointed so far but we needn't completely despair. There's still a good chance we'll have a majority in the House.

by Anonymousreply 122November 7, 2018 12:56 AM

We were never going to take the senate. That was a delusion not born out by ANY polls. It's about the house and has always been about the house.

by Anonymousreply 123November 7, 2018 12:56 AM

Thanks for some good news, R118.

by Anonymousreply 124November 7, 2018 12:56 AM

Russia really pulled through for them huh.

Fort Worth Texas has a major southern Baptist seminary there, and they also have a large conservative population in the area.

Some of you seem to enjoy wallowing in misery. Can you at least wait a couple of more hours before you declare the death of democracy?

by Anonymousreply 132November 7, 2018 12:57 AM

On the one hand, it can’t get any worse than the waking nightmare we’re already in, so there’s small comfort in that. On the other, I’m consistently disappointed by the sheer fucking idiocy of this country, both from Rethugs and registered Dems who DON’T VOTE,

by Anonymousreply 133November 7, 2018 12:58 AM

the answer is not for Dem politicians to be more moderate. The answer is for Dems to stop clustering themselves on the 2 coasts. We need more Dems moving to Florida, Georgia and Texas. Those 3 states could flip in the future if we get voters there.

by Anonymousreply 134November 7, 2018 12:58 AM

Juliana Stratton just became Illinois' first black Lieutenant Governor, along with JB Pritzker's win in the IL Governor race.

sherrod brown wins Ohio!

by Anonymousreply 136November 7, 2018 12:59 AM

asshole Manchin retains his Senate seat. Not that he's a real Dem but better than a true repub

by Anonymousreply 137November 7, 2018 12:59 AM

This is 2016 all over again. Things look okay for Democrats initially, then it all collapses. Gillum and Nelson both lost in Florida and Beto's lead gets smaller each time they show it on screen. I don't know why anyone was hopeful.

by Anonymousreply 138November 7, 2018 12:59 AM

So, what happened to ALL of the angry women? You know a protest will mean NOTHING if the Democrats cannot take the House.

by Anonymousreply 139November 7, 2018 12:59 AM

R123 Winning the Senate was always more long-shot pep talk. So many more Dem seats were up for election than Repub seats.

by Anonymousreply 140November 7, 2018 12:59 AM

Manchin projected to hold his seat.

by Anonymousreply 141November 7, 2018 12:59 AM

House Dems with *narrow* leads in key FL-26 and VA-2 races

FL-26 (91%) Mucarsel-Powell (D) 51% Curbelo (R) 49%

VA-2 (88%) Luria (D) 51% Taylor (R) 49%

by Anonymousreply 142November 7, 2018 12:59 AM

No?

Russian interfered with the 2016 election, and it'll probably come out that they interfered in this election too, and one party is fucking determined to keep it that way.

What's stopping them from doing it in 2020 and 2022? And 2024?

by Anonymousreply 145November 7, 2018 1:00 AM

Trust me. If we lose the house, it will get much worse. So long Obamacare, hello Medicare and Social Security cuts plus no Mueler report as the new AG will put a stop to it. Pray we win the house.

by Anonymousreply 146November 7, 2018 1:00 AM

The race for the House isn't over yet r144, not by a long shot. She realizes that.

by Anonymousreply 147November 7, 2018 1:01 AM

Senators Casey (PA,) Gillibrand (NY), Klobuchar (MN) and Heinrich (NM) RE-ELECTED.

by Anonymousreply 150November 7, 2018 1:01 AM

The disappointment is that even if the Democrats take back the House, it won't be in the numbers that repudiate Trump. It's not the big number that would make a statement. Obama lost more House seats in his first midterm election. And he still won big in 2012. What does that portend for 2020?

by Anonymousreply 151November 7, 2018 1:01 AM

by Anonymousreply 153November 7, 2018 1:01 AM

I feel like a Democratic majority in the House is still a win, but...ugh. No sign of a "blue wave."

by Anonymousreply 154November 7, 2018 1:01 AM

There are a slew of safe districts whose polls just closed, so we'll have a more balanced results map shortly.

There are some good state/local results happening.

by Anonymousreply 155November 7, 2018 1:01 AM

So many people butt hurt over this, how, exactly will this effect your fucking daily life? Boo fucking hoo, repubs win once again... sucks, oh well, life goes on.

Yes, I'm disappointed but that is it, I'm gonna wake up tomorrow and not give two shits.

There are lots of angry white women but again many of them live in liberal clusters.

too many millennials (and I am one so I'll criticize them) don't give a fuck. Millennials are mostly worried about finishing up grad school (the younger ones) to focusing on their careers and starting families (the older ones). Some of them also just party with their friends and follow celeb gossip.

Any chance California doesn't come through for the House count?

by Anonymousreply 175November 7, 2018 1:05 AM

I just looked on 538. Dem chances to take House 56.1%. 5% to take Senate.

by Anonymousreply 176November 7, 2018 1:06 AM

Dems move to the coasts because it's easier to be a Democrat there! I live in Oklahoma, and the lady who I signed in with to vote has known me my entire life, when she couldn't find my name on the list and I told her I am an Independent, she almost fell out of her chair!

There are progressive people here! It's just the big name dems on the coasts ignore us! No support comes to us from the national level.

by Anonymousreply 177November 7, 2018 1:06 AM

Yep, Democrats’ overconfidence and disconnect from The Heartland is killing us

by Anonymousreply 178November 7, 2018 1:06 AM

Tapper: this is not a blue wave.

And that's the message from Kellyanne tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 179November 7, 2018 1:06 AM

Regardless of the outcome, the Dems still haven’t pulled their shit together after 2016.

We can’t just be the anti-Trump party. We can’t just be hang our hopes on ONE issue with popular support, meaning health care.

What is the Dem party’s platform? Where is the unity of message?

by Anonymousreply 180November 7, 2018 1:06 AM

Thank You, r152.

I suspected the Debbie Downer posts are Repug trolls.

by Anonymousreply 184November 7, 2018 1:07 AM

[quote] I just looked on 538. Dem chances to take House 56.1%. 5% to take Senate.

Are you going to do that every two minutes? Every one of us can look up what 538 is reporting, by the way.

Forget 538. It's using current available data only, so it's likely inaccurate.

by Anonymousreply 186November 7, 2018 1:07 AM

Whoever came up with "Blue Wave" is a fucking idiot. It's obvious that Democratic voters need to be scared to the polls, and if Democrats sound sure of victory too many of them will stay home. How the fuck they didn't learn that lesson from 2016 is beyond me.

by Anonymousreply 187November 7, 2018 1:07 AM

For a midterm that is generally an effective strategy. The 2010 wave election for the GOP was all about Obamacare.

by Anonymousreply 189November 7, 2018 1:08 AM

Once again I am kicking myself because I got sucked in it thought that was a blue wave coming. I hate everyone who said it was going to happen. Including myself

by Anonymousreply 190November 7, 2018 1:08 AM

Not to worry...The fix is IN!

by Anonymousreply 191November 7, 2018 1:08 AM

by Anonymousreply 192November 7, 2018 1:08 AM

hopefully the felons who have their voting rights restored will vote Dem in 2020

by Anonymousreply 193November 7, 2018 1:08 AM

by Anonymousreply 194November 7, 2018 1:08 AM

R190, do you realize that polls on the West Coast haven't closed yet?

by Anonymousreply 198November 7, 2018 1:09 AM

R151 For starter, Obama didn't have an FBI investigation hanging over his head. Even one seat Den majority in the House can turn that into a huge headache for Trump in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 199November 7, 2018 1:09 AM

Looking like a big win for Scott in FL.

by Anonymousreply 200November 7, 2018 1:09 AM

by Anonymousreply 201November 7, 2018 1:09 AM

by Anonymousreply 202November 7, 2018 1:09 AM

What's the scoop on voting problems at any polls today? Anyone here have anything shady happen?

by Anonymousreply 203November 7, 2018 1:10 AM

by Anonymousreply 204November 7, 2018 1:10 AM

Can the anti-538 trolls stop. Nate Silver was one of the only people signalling the alarm to the very end that Trump could very well win. If you don't understand how statistics works, just stop.

Oh, and he's ALWAYS said his metrics are not as reliable for off year elections, in part because there are more variables and less polls.

R116, i hang out on other liberal boards, and many women were disheartened at having to actually agree with Trump , a man they loathe, about Title IX.

Just a few days ago, something like 98 members of the House signed a Transgender lobby letter supporting the Title IX wording change from its original sex to gender.

That’s Democrats, including some I volunteered for, kicking women and parents of girls, in the cunt, right before the midterms, in order to score points with the Transgender Lobby.

Not that i think this is a fair election, but i knew the transgender bullshit would be one of the hills the US would die on.

by Anonymousreply 224November 7, 2018 1:13 AM

And mark my words, Trump will be reelected in 2020. Bush was reelected twice. Presidents historically get two terms. The economy won't plunge until the second year of his second term. Democrats have no one to run. All the exciting faces aren't ready yet. They will be ready for 2024. So give your nerves a rest and just accept reality. The country is fucked for the next six years.

by Anonymousreply 225November 7, 2018 1:13 AM

R233 I’ve spent the last few weeks talking to voters - 98 Democrats in the U S House just signed a letter saying that the rights of the 0.4% of Americans who identify as trans were more important than the rights of the more than 50% who are women -

But before that, Obama had done the same- and you think that all women hate themselves and their female children so much that the Democrats telling them to go back into the kitchen and allow men to steal sports scholarships and swing their dicks in girls locker rooms wouldn’t piss them off?

If this prediction holds, it's still a WIN for the Dems. Taking the House even with a couple seats is still a game changer, better than what we had until now.

R274 is right. Stop freaking out, people!

I will say it again in all caps: STOP FREAKING OUT.

The House was already Republican, so at worst it will be status quo, but it's not going to be the worst case scenario, so think positive.

The Senate was never in play. Give up that hope, it never was in play.

I think Trump and the Republicans will last another term in power, because that's the way the cycles play out. When the recession begins next year and there's a war (with Iran, I guess), I don't want Democrats to have to clean it up again. I want Republicans to have to take responsibility for making American politics what it has become. Of course, they won't, but my dream extends that far.

What I DON'T want is for Democrats to get elected, fix the mess and get the rug pulled out from underneath them yet again. If Americans are going to be such fairweather friends, well, something something about the country gets the government it deserves....

In a country full of impossible gerrymandering, Democrats will take back the HOUSE!

That’s fucking HUGE!

I think it would send a big message if Texas were to vote out Cruz and his phoney, sanctimonious bs.

Still a good chance they take the house. Not a huge check on Trump but with the right candidate hes beatable. Let’s just hope the primaries don’t go the way they did in 2016

Harris County (Houston) had 8 polling places stay open late because they opened late. No news to be found yet on the Texas att'y general and ag commissioner races. I was hopeful that the Beto effect might put them into the win column. The Republican incumbents in these seats are particularly odious. Remember the guy who went to Oklahoma for the Jesus shot? He's our agriculture commissioner. The ag commissioner is in charge of school lunches. And the idiot keeps fucking with barbecue restaurants, which, as you might guess, are sacred here.

by Anonymousreply 499November 7, 2018 1:54 AM

Sadly most of that stuff is under state and local control. Elections are regulated at the county level, gerrymandering is put together by state legislatures. That stuff need fixing badly. On the bright side Florida just made it legal for felons to vote, affecting 40% of eligible black male voters in the state, and attempts at election fuckery in PA and NC have been thwarted by the courts. Baby steps.

Dem control of the House primarily will put some brakes on the batshit loco Trump Train, and none too soon.
