I used to head an LGBT staff support network with my previous employer. Since I left 3 of the gay men there (all in their mid-late 30s) have suddenly declared via social media that they are now trans and/or gender fluid. Even if they’re able to find a provider in their state within a reasonable driving distance, often the provider will turn them down due to lack of fetus, uterus, or having had intercourse in the last nine months. It’s a downright disgrace. Trans women of color didn’t fight so hard at Stonewall for this type of malpractice to be perpetrated against their descendants’ brown trans bodies. It doesn’t matter if you can physically be impregnated, abortion is your right regardless l. To deny any person that right is a slap in the face of all the transwomen who fought the establishment back at Stonewall.

You’d think only trans women of color were present at Stonewall...

I think people like him seek and crave that shock value. If people completely ignored their clownish look they would look for another looks or premise to get attention and shock people.

When I was in my 20s and still going out to bars back in the 90s/00s, there were always one or two weirdos in the bar who looked absolutely fucking crazy like Alok and co.. They were just ignored by the other patrons. I would imagine this is what's happening to Alok, Jacob etc. Nobody pays them much mind in public, and they can't stand being ignored. Of course, the total lack of self-awareness prevents them from realizing why.

Believe it or not, this last week I went to an end-of-the-year teaching workshop on "Working with Trans Students"at the university where I work, and the facilitator showed us a youtube video of none other than Alok Vaid Menon discussing his intersectionality as part of her initial presentation! I almost fell over because I thought of this thread.
