I caught parts of CMBYN a couple of weeks ago, and honestly don't get the hype. TC's mouth breathing was distracting, and AH seemed puzzled on how to kiss him. Granted, I missed a big chunk of the beginning of the movie, so I may feel differently about their chemistry/acting if I re-watch it in its entirety.

I rewatched it the other day and I get the hype for the performances to an extent, but there are so many continuity and editing errors that I'm surprised it was nominated for best picture.

There's two Elio/Marzia brief sex scenes and with Oliver, there's the first time, some fingering in Rome (or was it Bergamo?), I believe some brief mention of sex during the peach scene, and a couple mentions of "afternoon love-making". But actual sex scenes, I think only their first time. The sex in the book has a lot more to do with Elio's fantasies before him and Oliver get together. He fantasizes about getting fucked, about getting Oliver's fingers inside him and even about getting into Oliver's room and essentially raping him at one point.

After Elio and Oliver admit to liking each other and then finally get together, I think the reader is expected to assume they spent the rest of their time together kissing, sucking, licking, and fucking each other, at every opportunity. The overwhelming majority of critics have RAVED Timmy's performance. There are maaaybe 3 reviews where the critics are ambivalent about it. Of course people can prefer Lucas' performance to Timmy's, but the majority opinion does not reflect that. BB has a non-linear narrative which can be frustrating to view, but to say that Ben is Back is a lot better is also untrue. Firstly, we have to wait for all the reviews for BiB to come out, secondly there are many people who have seen BiB who hated the structure, because it goes through a weird tonal shift in the second half, with some thriller plot points which are weirdly tacked on. I sincerely doubt that BiB will have much better reviews than BB. Also, Timmy is undoubtedly the MVP of BB, while Julia completely overshadows Lucas in BiB, according to almost everybody who has seen the movie. I dont think that Timmy and Lucas should be pitted against each other, but because some people insist on bringing Lucas up on Timmy's thread, well... Timmy is far better in his movie according to almost everyone.

In the book, I think Elio and Oliver meet again when Elio is in his early 30s and their last meeting is when Elio is 37 (when Elio hopes that Oliver will call him again by his name and will stay with him this time). They are not going to be following the book's timeline exactly if they make the sequels.

Boy Erased has made a little more than 1 million while BB has made more than 5 million. How exactly are you comparing the 2? If you are comparing only this weekend's gross, even that comparison is flawed. Films in limited release make far more money per theatre. Films which have been released recently will make more money than films in their 5th week of release. If you have to compare the box office of the BB and Boy Erased (though I dont know why on earth you should), compare BB's second weekend gross to BE's second weekend gross, IF both films expanded to similar number of theatres in the second weekend.

The 25 mill budget is stupidly high, tho a new document shows the budget to be 19.3 million, which is still too high. They could have easily made this movie within 5-7 million, if they had chosen their locations wisely. Thats not on the actors tho, just on the production company. The movie is not doing badly considering the type of difficult drama it is, but with that budget, its impossible to be a success.

Everyone uses their professional network to get work but having familial connections is something you have to disclose on every job application. Timmy has many privileges, namely he is a white, attractive man and Hollywood loves white attractive men. His mother's side of the family also has connections to showbiz, which gives him a leg up because they knew the way around auditions and stuff. Armie's wife Elizabeth is a former friend of mine. I say former because a couple of months ago I decided to start distancing myself from her. She had constant drama in her life that I just didn't want to deal with anymore. She puts up a good front while in the public eye but the truth is she's desperately trying to keep her marriage together. I think it's for the sake of the kids more than anything else. She definitely knows that Armie and Timothee hook up whenever they get the chance and it causes her a great amount of stress. She's fought with Armie so many times over it. I can't say with 100% certainty that they're getting divorced. But it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they do eventually decide to call it quits. I guess time will tell.

Timothee basically just answered his question - weirdest fan comment or interaction - and a random fan coming up to you when you’re 16 years old or so to tell you they can’t wait to see your bare feet again, when you’ve never done so on the show, is weird and funny. Colbert should have been able to do something with that but he also seemed weirdly inert and inattentive. We have Tim being anxious and Colbert being sort of cold and disinterested, which will make an anxious person worse.
