I like Timmy and I have always enjoyed watching him get all awkward, geeky, nervous when he did his interviews, whether on TV shows, red carpet or for Q&As. Always thought that was so cute. But that Colbert interview was the very first time I felt weird about his behaviour. Like, it seem to be not natural anymore? It entered my mind that Timmy was playing it up for the audience. I have seen him interviewed years ago on live tv for Prodigal Son and One and Two. He was younger then, but he was poised and calm all throughout. Of course, Kimmel/Colbert/Fallon is a lot bigger with a wider range of audience. It is perfectly normal to feel nervous to be on these shows, but Timothee had more than a year of doing interviews all over the world, and he should have gotten better in dealing with nerves by now, not worse. It probably didn't help that Colbert was having none of it. Unlike Fallon or Kimmel who clearly were fond/amused of the kid's aw-shucks attitude, Colbert was almost aloof and this gave the interview a more awkward vibe than it deserves. I have read the same comment on other blogs and forums, so I am not alone in this reaction. I am not saying he is faking it, but more like he is exaggerating somewhat. And I had secondhand embarrassment when Timmy just giggled helplessly when Colbert asked him about "fear" (he was referencing to a famous quote from Dune, which they were discussing, so it was not as if Colbert just suddenly threw the word out of nowhere). An audience member had to shout out, "mindkiller!" . It was very obvious Timmy has not even read the whole book his next movie is based on. LOL. But I still like Timmy. He is obviously intelligent and articulate. He just need to tone the awkward boy act just a bit. He is already a young man, and he wants to be a serious actor, not a teen kpop idol. R49 I think he freaked out at some point, though Colbert definitely wasn't interested in helping him feel more at ease. When you're an anxious person, you tend to panic when things don't go exactly the way you planned them and then it might get weird.
