r5, it is well known that Hannity and Trump talk on the phone every day.

For Hannity to make such a brazen statement, it is expected that he already talked about this with Trump.

It is a twofer, either Trump does nothing and it appears that Hannity saved him from destruction, or he does NOT appear to listen to Hannity and Hannity gives him cover till after the midterms or whenever. OH those evil deep staters. It is a win win for Trumpie.

by Anonymousreply 6September 22, 2018 8:33 AM

My guess R5 is, the Rethugs are scared that any firing/s will bring even more Dems into the Capitol.

They probably told Hannity in no uncertain terms to fall in line and deliver the message to Cheeto.

Hannity makes it sound like a Dem conspiracy to trick Cheeto. But it can still be Cheeto's peeps in Congress, like Nunes and Jim Jordan, who were the conduits of the leak, and Hannity is just pretending he doesn't know. This has their fingerprints all over it.

by Anonymousreply 12September 22, 2018 10:58 AM

Russia/GOP will probably try to hold on to the Senate. They won't have as much success with the House. Here's a thing to remember: In 2016, Hillary was swamped. She had Comey, Russians, and a perfect storm of shit piling on her...and SHE STILL WON THE POPULAR VOTE. This time there is no Electoral College to rob her. So turn out is critical.

We have to make this the biggest tsunami of anti Trump turnout they have ever seen. I want those fuckers cowering under their beds, trembling with fear when they realize how much we all hate them. When their own, credible, long standing pundits out here like William Kristol, George Will, Steve Schmidt, etc.etc.etc. are urging people to vote for the Democrat, that has to scare the shit out of them.

The House will conduct hearings. They may even impeach at some point. But they really can't do too much harm without the Senate to convict him. No matter what the outcome, I predict that Trump will fire Rosenstein and Sessions after the mid terms. You can bank that. And before he has finished tweeting those firings, Mueller will unleash a barrage of indictments. Both men are going to act after the Midterms. But we have to turn out. We have to. No excuses.

Go find out if you're registered and keep checking to make sure you don't get purged. Also, check to make sure you know WHERE to vote. An old trick I learned as a party hack years ago: Changing the polling place at the last minute and posting the new location, makes it difficult and inconvenient for voters and some don't have the time to drive to the new place. Also, vote early. They often "run out of ballots." Make sure you know if they have early voting in your county. Remember, voting is the very least you can do.All the marches and phone calls in the world won't matter id we don't show up.

Remember:In 2010 we gave Congress away. We didn't show up.

by Anonymousreply 13September 22, 2018 12:26 PM

If we're still complaining about the NYT on this thread, I just want to add that all of their articles, from those urging the gentrification of faded neighborhoods (see the "faded neighborhood" thread) to the most serious political matters, have a redolent mug-cradling sensibility, as if all of their reporters were concern-troll fraus who occasionally take a break from whispering with Ivanka and Wendy Deng to ingenuously try out a new $1800 avocado-toast maker and marvel that they ever lived without it. It's a queasy mixture from beginning to end of lame punning headlines and winking contrarianism, relieved only by the astringency of Paul Krugman and Charles Blow.

by Anonymousreply 14September 22, 2018 12:30 PM

You have summed up the NYT very well, R14. But what really bothers me most about that paper is that their so-called reporters (Maggie Haberman, Michael Schmidt, Judith Miller, etc.) are such "useful idiots" who get played over and over by the White House.

by Anonymousreply 15September 22, 2018 12:59 PM

Whether he meant it or not, Rosenstein was right in thinking that this president needs the 25th Amendment solution; personally I think he's a complete loon.

by Anonymousreply 16September 22, 2018 1:08 PM

Yes, R15; I just wanted to add that the whole paper, not just its Trump-leaning political reporting, breathes an air of privileged solipsism and obliviousness to the actual consequences of the social and political actions they're writing about. The political reporting has almost the same affect as the met-cute full-page wedding stories. Anyway, I'm not sure those reporters are idiots; they're complicit.

by Anonymousreply 17September 22, 2018 1:28 PM

I’m confused.

Does an (R) next to a candidate’s name stand for “Russian” or “Rapist”?

by Anonymousreply 18September 22, 2018 1:33 PM

The media adored Lindsey Graham, a daily feature before the network cameras, especially on Fox News, finds a way at the same time, to both diss the New York Times and defend his beloved President Trump.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 19September 22, 2018 1:38 PM

The NYT' story was a plant. Wonder what DJT, Nunes, Jim Jordan, Graham, Mark Levin, Hannity, and even Vlad, knew about this beforehand?

by Anonymousreply 20September 22, 2018 1:48 PM

That's not how I see it, r14. I don't get any general "frau" sensibility from the NYT's tone. I get privileged straight/closeted white men's club vibes among the male reporters and their same-level sources, with the Maggie H. and Judith M. ilk piercing that men's only club veil by strategically using their feminine wiles to flatter and tease.

by Anonymousreply 21September 22, 2018 1:52 PM

Will Maureen Dowd claim Hillary made Rosenstein do what he alledgedly did?

by Anonymousreply 22September 22, 2018 2:13 PM

R20 I believe so, too. It was written to slur Rosenstein but the truth that shines through is that our IC knows Trump is a criminal and unfit.

The antidote to this nonsense is easy: “Substitute ‘Obama’ for ‘Trump’—now how do you feel?”

by Anonymousreply 23September 22, 2018 2:17 PM

R14 for the win. Brilliant assessment. You write very well. I love your acidity.

by Anonymousreply 24September 22, 2018 2:24 PM

R23 I often encounter a lot of Deplorables and when I do I often engage them by asking them how they feel about some awful thing that Dotard did but I replace his name with Hillary or Obama. They're so ill informed they never know what I'm doing and they become outraged and start screaming about how evil they are (and what a cunt Hillary is).

I then laugh and tell them I'm just kidding and it was actually Dotard that did it and how do they feel about it now?

Most get pissed at me and some, being the Deplorables that they are, end up making excuses for Dotard and say whatever he did wasn't that bad.

R25 the word “cult” is popping up more often. It should.

by Anonymousreply 30September 22, 2018 4:24 PM

R25 is a brave one. I wouldn't engage someone I knew supported him at all, but back away slowly and let them know I have bear spray.

by Anonymousreply 31September 22, 2018 4:48 PM
Remember, voting is the very least you can do.All the marches and phone calls in the world won't matter id we don't show up.

I don't know why our side doesn't get that. It's a minimum effort on the scale of the effect it can have.

Rethugs show up because they know voting is the possibility to get maximum outcome with minimum effort. They aren't flakes who have to be "inspired" by the candidate to just drive to the polls and push a few buttons. 1-2 hours of their time on average in return for years of getting what they want.

by Anonymousreply 32September 22, 2018 5:46 PM

I think more people need to be aware of absentee voting. I'm always surprised at how many people don't know that's an option.

by Anonymousreply 33September 22, 2018 5:50 PM

My 80-year-old neighbor told me this morning she's voting this November, when she usually doesn't, and a straight Democratic slate.

by Anonymousreply 34September 22, 2018 5:53 PM
They aren't flakes who have to be "inspired" by the candidate

Or maybe right-wingers, cultists that they are, are just more readily inspired by any old con artist. Either way, we need to think of politicians more in terms of instruments for policy-making. This should be posted every election:

I doubt the regular conservative voter will vote in the mid-term being put off by their party letting Trump and the Deplorables run over them and make them look like fools. I bet the Deplorables even hope for a blue wave so they can get their guns out and, as militant group, physically protect the White House. Only to be shot down by Trump and his White House security personel who's gotten so paranoid that he thinks the Deplorables are there to get him or it's the Liberals trying to get him.

by Anonymousreply 36September 22, 2018 6:02 PM

Matt Purdy is getting read for filth:

@JustSchmeltzer

Replying to @mattbpurdy 1/ Not one outlet says the account isn’t at least in dispute. You’re the only ones reporting AS INCONTROVERTIBLE FACT that he was not being sarcastic. You’re lying to people, and it is gross.

Absent evidence, second-hand sources are not “fact” when first-hand sources dispute.

2/ slamming YOUR OWN READERS for pointing that out is gross, unprofessional, and calls into question how confident you are in an ability to back up your reporting when it is in serious dispute.

Dean himself said your readers are now your public ed, when you fired your public ed.

3/ if you can’t or won’t allow readers to act as your public ed, and demand you back up your reporting with SOME evidence, when it is being disputed by EVERY OTHER OUTLET, then give us an public editor again, who can.

But trashing your readers? Just stop.

4/4 FWIW you come off like Stephen Miller, saying the power and accuracy of the NYT shall not be questioned.

No one here is saying this is fake news, but are raising legit points. Your heavy-handed response to readers is worthy of this White House, not a responsible news outlet.

@oufenix

Replying to @JustSchmeltzer @mattbpurdy Have you noticed that they don't get this defensive when the Right calls them "fake news" or says a story has been misreported or says they're flat out lying. It's only when the Left does it that they get so defensive.

by Anonymousreply 59September 22, 2018 11:31 PM

My friend just told me today he is no longer registered to vote in our state even though he voted in 2016 and has lived in the same place for years. Thank you r230 from the previous thread for posting this article.

After reading it, I was left wondering, has there ever been a political operative appointed to the Supreme Court? I mean, appointing Kavanaugh is like appointing David Brock himself, or Roger Stone or David Axelrod, to the bench.

They're not actually jurists and in no way impartial after a lifetime of ruthless manipulation in furtherance of ideology.

Exactly, R67. He worked his way up the ladder as a ratfucker. He was manoeuvred into a track to the Supreme Court after proving himself in the Bush II White House, where his public lies and cover-ups satisfied his superiors (although they're all coming out now, despite the massive withholding of documents). His juridical skills are mediocre, and so is his intelligence to judge from the hearings. In fact, the whole Republican apparatus is being exposed as pretty bankrupt right now.

by Anonymousreply 76September 23, 2018 2:13 PM

I hav a strong feeling that this Supreme Court mess will backfire and be the catalyst to take them all down. The whole lot of repug scum.

What dems need is momentum, and I think a week or two from now they will have it in spades, all the way through the election and into 2019.

There are currently too many people on the fence or indifferent but this SC mess has the ability to make everyone wake up, pay attention and pick a side.

The Russia angle makes a lot of peoples eyes glaze over but they understand unchecked privilege and heavy-handed oppression.

by Anonymousreply 77September 23, 2018 5:58 PM

^ especially when it’s a live hearing with lots of publicity

by Anonymousreply 78September 23, 2018 5:59 PM

You may be right about it firing up women, but they are already fired up...even the Repug ones who are going for Dems, at least in the suburbs. However, I'd wager there are polls already out there showing that men don't give two shits about this Supreme Court thing. First of all, it involves "women issues" like abortion and, in their eyes, some harmless sexual horseplay where the guy was not only a teenager but drunk. That doesn't count in their eyes, mostly because so many of them did the exact same thing.

This is a huge issue for women. It's mostly a non-issue for men. Men who, as of the polls I saw on Monday, still favor Repugs on generic ballots for both the House and the Senate.

by Anonymousreply 79September 23, 2018 6:11 PM

Women have been fired up since grab 'em by the pussy was, illegitimately, elected as POTUS. Just look at the Women's March protests. They will vote.

by Anonymousreply 80September 23, 2018 6:28 PM

Fewer women are felons and therefore disqualified from voting. I don’t think their registrations are challenged nearly as often as men.

by Anonymousreply 81September 23, 2018 6:47 PM

Once you've served your time and are no longer on parole, you should get your voting rights back. Simple as that. The Repugs don't want that because they're a bunch of racists, of course.

by Anonymousreply 82September 23, 2018 6:48 PM

Men may have shifted 4-6 points away from Repugs but they still favor Repugs on a generic ballot by around 5 points. Testament to how many men supported Repugs to begin with, even after everything they've done.

Either way it’s a win/win for democrats.

The real question is what the Letters to the Editor will look like, should they choose to publish any.

Hopefully there will be no further op-ed pieces about Trump's paranoia and hostility toward the FBI, since the Times has now contributed to it.

Some people don't believe in karma because, in order for things to "come around," the first have to "go around" to an initial horrible state (an evil person first goes around to fuck innocent people before karma comes around to bringing the evil person down). Why would the universe want evil to be elevated in the first place? There's no karma - if there were, Cheney et al would be in jail.

Jane Mayer is the author of Dark Money a book predominantly about the sleazy disgusting Koch Brothers. Their German nanny made the boys sit on their little potty chairs same time every day to move their little bowels regularly. Also, how they tried to smear their older brother as gay and cut him out of the daddy's will. Kochs tried to smear Jane and sue her but were completely unsuccessful. Book was recommended to me by my neighbor who worked for Koch until she stopped drinking the Kool Ade and realized how evil and destructive what they do is to the planet and they don't give a shit. by Anonymousreply 132September 24, 2018 2:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 142September 24, 2018 3:20 PM

Since the Dems will get the House soon, does this really save Trump that much? The Dems can open all sorts of investigations on the Trump crime syndicate and the GOP.

by Anonymousreply 143September 24, 2018 3:22 PM
has been skeptical of special counsel probes in the past

Regardless, the future Dem-controlled House will line up investigations up the yazoo.

In the meantime, protests and demonstrations will hopefully bring more Dems to the polls in November.

by Anonymousreply 144September 24, 2018 3:23 PM

The timing of all of this seems really fucking bizarre.

This story the NYT printed came out a year after the events supposedly happened. They must have been working with IQ45 to release it now just so they could get Rosenstein out.

Why now?

by Anonymousreply 145September 24, 2018 3:23 PM

R144 Yes, this is just another Trump's temper tantrum that will inevitably land him in more trouble. When the Dems come in they can investigate this firing as another obstruction of justice.

by Anonymousreply 146September 24, 2018 3:25 PM

Is it possible that the White House wants to hear Rosenstein's side of the story or am I being optimistic?

by Anonymousreply 147September 24, 2018 3:27 PM

R145 Yes, NYT provided cover for this "firing" clear as day. Just like the NYT did a lot to normalize and deflect (i.e. Russian collusion) for Team Trump before the election.

by Anonymousreply 148September 24, 2018 3:29 PM

Maybe Haberman dangled the story in front of Trump for more access ("My peon Schmidt will write the story if..."). She's ALL about access. Learned it during her time at the New York Post.

by Anonymousreply 149September 24, 2018 3:29 PM

Why would the WH want to "hear his side" when they orchestrated this leak in the first place? No doubt with the helpful intermediaries Gowdy, Nunes and Co.

by Anonymousreply 150September 24, 2018 3:30 PM

Worried about vote tampering. Go vote, of course. Future elections ... we need to go back to paper ballots. No more electronic stuff. It's too sacred to turn it over to weird private companies and their bullshit tech.

We still do some of our most important things in paper - e.g., signing bills into law. Let's go back to paper for voting. Find best practices (e.g., Netherlands), bring them here.

by Anonymousreply 167September 24, 2018 4:58 PM

I really wish Muller would drop all the collusion bullshit and concentrate instead on the really big kahuna: Trump's money laundering and tax evasion. That's the Trump family's Achilles heel. If Muller had concentrated on that, that jack ass Trump would have been out the door months ago.

by Anonymousreply 168September 24, 2018 5:00 PM

I think at this point, Mueller, a registered Republican, is deliberately dragging this collusion bullshit out in an effort to distract everyone from the real crimes of money laundering, racketeering and tax evasion.

by Anonymousreply 171September 24, 2018 5:13 PM

r168 r169 You aren't paying attention. Why do you think Mueller is concentrating on Cohen and Manafort? Their money laundering is linked to Trump. Once Mueller gets all the evidence from Cohen and Manafort, he can go after Trump.

by Anonymousreply 174September 24, 2018 5:20 PM

This is nothing more than an opinion by someone who retains maybe a sixteenth of the publicly-known history of the Mueller investigation, but it seems to me that the option to dismiss DAG Rod Rosenstein was always available, but DJT was always counseled against doing so, and that Mueller long ago recognized dismissal as a potential event, and planned for that contingency; therefore firing RR is akin to a "poison pill" that not only screams [bold]obstruction of justice[/bold] but is a sign from 45 that he's done, the job is too hard, too much harassment, et cetera. I would not be surprised if several high-value/high-profile indictments were released within 48 hours of Rosenstein's termination.

by Anonymousreply 186September 24, 2018 6:31 PM

If Trump fires Rosenstein the Republicans can kiss both the Supreme Court and Midterms goodbye. The Mueller investigation will go forward, in some capacity, even if Mueller gets fired. And whether he gets fired or not..the Republican Party, as it stands, is DONE. That's what scaring the shit out of the GOP.

by Anonymousreply 187September 24, 2018 6:40 PM

The threatened RR firing was dropped today as a trial balloon and a distraction from the mess swirling around Kavanaugh. (The press, or CNN at any rate, can only handle one shiny object at a time.)

Further evidence lies in the fact that the “follow up” Rosenstein meeting is set for this Thursday. (Hmmm, let me see, what else is happening on Thursday. . .).

by Anonymousreply 188September 24, 2018 6:52 PM

So, are you team "worrying about Rosenstein" or are you team "worrying about Kavanaugh"?

That's exactly what the media is going for to occupy / distract people's minds.

Pick your poison, indeed.

by Anonymousreply 189September 24, 2018 6:58 PM

NY Times reporters (mostly women) were all over the TV networks today dissing Kavanaugh's second accusser and reiterating what the newspaper conveyed about Rosenstein earlier. Something strange is going on at the Times. They did a flip faster than when Miss Lindsey had her golf outing with DJT.

by Anonymousreply 197September 24, 2018 7:19 PM

NYT is defensive because:

1. they got “scooped” on the Ramirez story: weren’t able to locate the guy who was 100% certain of the details because he heard the dirty details from an attendee the day after it happened; and,

2. their reporting on RR is correct. Likely the News division ran it as an FU to the paper!s management, which refused to let the reporters do an investigative piece on the true identity of the op ed department’s “Anonymous” author.

by Anonymousreply 198September 24, 2018 7:22 PM

R198, their reporting on Rosentein is technically correct but very misleading (and I think deliberately as a favor to their WH sources). Compare and contrast it with the Post's version of the same story and the Times' shoddy reporting becomes obvious.

My take is Trump wanted RR to resign before Kelly. He refused, and Trump fears firing him. Frankly, Kelly, himself, probably wants RR to stay. Kelly knows Trump goal is to end the Mueller investigation, and he may view it needs to continue.

Expect Kelly did not allow Steve Miller, Jared, Ivanka, Sarah, etc. anywhere near his meeting with Rosenstein.

by Anonymousreply 206September 24, 2018 7:43 PM

Who needs an October surprise when it's pretty much expected that there'll be drama after drama in the news media entertainment? I think I'm going to pull the plug (social and news) media wise and focus on everything being in order to make sure my vote counts. Maybe I let my inner frau out and buy some coloring book for adults and occupy myself with that instead of following the news.

by Anonymousreply 215September 24, 2018 8:47 PM

Isn't it interesting that the Republican-controlled Senate can go to immense lengths to defend Kavanaugh from allegations of old sexual improprieties, but has no time to insist on sufficient measures to protect our election system from on-going Russian and other foreign interventions.

The shame of America is that people such as McConnell, Graham, Cruz, Grassley, Paul, Hatch, Cotton, Cornin, etc. are elected to office. And that's just the Senate.

The Democrats need to insist a vote be taken on a motion to protect Mueller investigation. If Mcturtle refuses then they need to go to the public and let the public know what we mostly already know -that the Republicans are actively obstructing justice and not upholding the Constitution and ask WHY? Things are just getting worse and worse. I feel like I am living in an alternate universe with all the despicable shit going on.

We can't let these pukes get away with this democracy destroying shit in service to an amoral, evil, narcissistic, evil, sociopathic piece of slime. Fuck I'm mad and I'm not going to take it anymore.

by Anonymousreply 218September 24, 2018 9:39 PM

At least Avenatti can communicate issues like R218 is suggesting. What is wrong w Demos? They don’t do a good job of communicating simple messages.

by Anonymousreply 219September 24, 2018 9:43 PM

R218, there is legislation like that. It was voted in Committee but McTurtle has refused to bring it to a floor vote. Unfortunately, unless McTurtle wants to, it won't be voted on.

Sen. Coons was just talking about this legislation again on msnbc. He often talks about it since he's the author of the bill.

Dems can't do much in minority position in either houses except talk in the media.

by Anonymousreply 220September 24, 2018 9:44 PM

I say let Avenatti go off the leash. I guess he probably doesn't have a leash but I back him 1000 percent. He's got the least to lose and the biggest balls to go for it-to speak truth about the sleaze and slime in the WH and among Republicans (both male and female. I would like to see Susan Collins grow a pair or she is as hypocritical as all the R's) the media -esp. CNN and to a much, much lesser degree MSNBC are so timid about saying the truth. DJT and family have been in debt to Russians for a very long time. I wish MSNBC would run the documentary Active Measures. More Americans need to watch and learn. The DJT deplorable base won't understand it anyway.

by Anonymousreply 221September 24, 2018 10:23 PM

Is there any mechanism for the House to do an investigation? I mean, say Trump finds a way to end the Mueller JD investigation, could the House (assuming the Democrats take it) hire Mueller to do a new investigation?

by Anonymousreply 222September 24, 2018 10:27 PM

You forgot about he Benghazi hearings, R222?

by Anonymousreply 223September 24, 2018 11:04 PM

Avenatti is doing what I want my elected Democrats to do. There’s too little outrage on the left and I don’t see many Democrats on every channel ranting against this administration. I’m glad that we have someone like Avenatti on our side.

Let’s face it, Democrats don’t know how to attack the right or how to seek their accomplishments. Instead of attacking people like Avenatti, we should learn from him.

by Anonymousreply 224September 24, 2018 11:11 PM

Rosenstein has a big brain, Trump has a pea brain, so how will the meeting turn out?

by Anonymousreply 225September 24, 2018 11:50 PM

The only people who attack Avenatti are Repugs or trolls.

by Anonymousreply 226September 24, 2018 11:58 PM

Most voters can only relate to simplistic slogans. MAGA and "witch-hunt" touches deplorables narrow thinking. Democrats need good PR, and short terms such as "save democracy", "end the puppet government of Russian", and expell the criminals". Don't play nice. They are not.

by Anonymousreply 228September 25, 2018 12:31 AM

Maddow will have Avenatti on tonight.

by Anonymousreply 229September 25, 2018 1:02 AM

This "train" story is blowing up. Avenatti basically said that Brett and his friend Mark and several others participated in a gang rape of a girl in high school. She is coming forward in the next couple of days. He said that she is highly credible with Government clearances and history.

by Anonymousreply 230September 25, 2018 1:35 AM

Is she the victim of the alleged gang rape though, or someone who was close to the victim or just someone who was present at the party when it occurred?

I was in high school just a few years after Kavanaugh and can recall significant details when pressed about major parties or events that happened back then. Even close timeframes, close to exact dates. I'm surprised there aren't more witnesses from that time period who knew BK and Judge and heard about their shenanigans in detail.

by Anonymousreply 231September 25, 2018 1:38 AM

r231, were you a blackout drunk in high school?

by Anonymousreply 232September 25, 2018 1:54 AM

No of course not, which is why I remember so much.

What about other witnesses? Not everyone was a massive party animal and drunk like BK.

by Anonymousreply 233September 25, 2018 1:56 AM

I wonder if we'll start seeing some witnesses to emerge and maybe one more accuser.

by Anonymousreply 234September 25, 2018 1:58 AM

Well, I was a blackout drunk in high school and there were very, very few other kids I hung out with who were not also afloat in the endless party. Non-party kids were boring and we definitely wouldn't have trusted them to not appeal to an authority figure if an evening began to turn sideways -- sideways for us meant we were successfully breaking the town.

by Anonymousreply 235September 25, 2018 2:05 AM

Everything out of any Repug's mouth should be followed by a LOUD "SURE JAN!"

by Anonymousreply 237September 25, 2018 3:21 AM

Read the headline "Kavanaugh vows not to withdraw..." and thought if he's "vowing", he's this close to withdrawing.

by Anonymousreply 238September 25, 2018 3:27 AM

Wait.. what?

Fox News interview by Martha McCallum with Brett Kavanaugh. Note of interest: Martha McCallum was a defender of Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly during the sexual harassment scandal at Fox News.

“So you’re saying through all these years that are in question that you were a virgin?” MacCallum asked Kavanaugh.

“That’s correct," he replied.

She pressed on: “And through what years in college, since we’re probing into your personal life here?”

“Many years after, I’ll leave it at that," he answered. "Many years after."

by Anonymousreply 239September 25, 2018 3:52 AM

I can only assume he means that he believes you remain a virgin until the sex is consensual on both sides.

by Anonymousreply 240September 25, 2018 3:54 AM

"If you don't count the rapes, I was basically a virgin until I got married."

*extreme side eye from wife*

"Well, I guess you could say technically I'm still a virgin."

by Anonymousreply 241September 25, 2018 3:56 AM

R239 Born Again Virgin! Hallelujah! And this guy was the one trying to corner Bill Clinton with sexually explicit questions!

by Anonymousreply 242September 25, 2018 4:07 AM

I read somewhere today that even if Mueller is fired, Beryl Howell, the judge overseeing the federal grand jury, is empowered to put a special prosecutor in place to continue the investigation. She can appoint whomever she deems worthy, including...Robert Mueller.

by Anonymousreply 243September 25, 2018 4:42 AM

R243 do you have a source for that?

by Anonymousreply 244September 25, 2018 4:51 AM

R243. I'd love to believe that is true.

by Anonymousreply 245September 25, 2018 5:07 AM

I read the article at work and can't find the exact one (but I'll keep looking). Right now, this one explains it a bit but the article I read earlier today (on either Politico or Vox, I think) went into more detail. I remember one part specifically named three people she could name. One was a fired Rod Rosenstein. One was another prominent prosecutor. And one was Mueller himself.

I'll keep looking...it can't have gone far!

by Anonymousreply 246September 25, 2018 5:30 AM

Well, I can't find the goddamn article. I read it at work so it's not even in my history. It was linked as an additional story at the bottom of another article today. Fucking annoying as hell. Well, what I wrote above is what it said. I remembered it because I thought it was funny that they said she could appoint either Rosenstein or Mueller, should they both be fired. It also said it would move it out from under any control of the Executive so Trump couldn't touch it.

by Anonymousreply 247September 25, 2018 6:23 AM

Unfortunately there are few laws that protect our country from criminals in the White House. That makes me sad because, I did not think a criminal would be able to take over our country and now I see how wrong I was.

He can when he's backed up by a foreign agent - Putin - and local interest groups - GOP, Koch Bros, NRA, etc.

by Anonymousreply 249September 25, 2018 9:28 AM

Right now the best fun fact is, Avenati has another supposed victim. I hope she is not pulling his leg.

by Anonymousreply 250September 25, 2018 9:28 AM

Like Avenatti is letting someone pee on his leg and tell him it's raining.

by Anonymousreply 251September 25, 2018 9:35 AM

I am naturally pessimestic but trying to be hopefully.

by Anonymousreply 252September 25, 2018 9:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 253September 25, 2018 9:42 AM

What I want to know is this: will Melania dismiss the Renate Alumnius development as “locker room banter” or will she simply sport a new Fall edition of Zara’s I DON’T CARE jacket to express her indifference to it all.

by Anonymousreply 254September 25, 2018 12:10 PM

They'll wind her up to say 'attempted rape is not rape' or some other fucking thing. Who fucking cares about that bot at this point? She's dead inside because of her association with these people.

by Anonymousreply 255September 25, 2018 12:56 PM

An alumni of what? What course did she give you? I don't expect this woman to testify to being considered 'easy' in HS. Few women would.

by Anonymousreply 256September 25, 2018 1:04 PM

Uh now would be a good time to retract your original statement and stick up for yourself, lady. And all the other girls who come after you.

This lady is a coward. How could she live with herself by not speaking out. These are the coldest people on earth.

by Anonymousreply 257September 25, 2018 1:07 PM

Yup, say nothing but retract that statement.

Sadly, I know why, R257. Every girl does. If THOT is considered the town slut, you are not. You are the nice girl (no matter how slutty you may actually be) and can always point and gossip about the one everyone KNOWS about.

I'll feel sorry for Renate when she retracts that letter. She's complicit otherwise and fuck her. This is obviously class closing ranks and if you can't see this, you're blind. These girls are trained....the catholic upper class is the worst. Expect nothing from this slut.

by Anonymousreply 258September 25, 2018 1:25 PM

and make no mistake, they know the score. They know what they have to be in order to live in that world of reprobates and privilege. They're still fucking girls. No woman worth her womb would fucking let an asshole get away with shit like this.

We working class girls would knock the shit out that little puke and his friends. They couldn't handle the shameless fucking we would lay on them, without benefit of booze or roofies....but WE didn't want their stupid, fuzzy little asses. They preyed upon their own and for good reason.

The worst part of this person is his lying. He lies about being a virgin when women have come forward to say he dangled his dick in their face? WTF?

"It's all lies!" they'll scream on FOX and how right they are. A virgin at a prep school through the 70's? Fuck me for being the fool who just cannot believe this, or that he didn't know those emails were stolen or that he's a political operative who wants to take 'abortion inducing drugs' away from women. He won't just vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, he'll fucking put us back into the Middle Ages.

He lies and lies and lies. Just like the fuck that nominated him.

by Anonymousreply 261September 25, 2018 1:45 PM

Going back to the RR NY Times article. Someone mentioned it upthread but it really is odd to me that the event they wrote about happened over a year ago and they only now just published it. I think Im on the same lines as the poster above who said they feel like they sat on it and intentionally released it this weekend to give Orange cover.

That got me thinking. Aside from trying to divert from Kavanaugh why now? If he's trying to actually fire RR again, why now?

It makes me feel like there's an immediate desperation because he's really scared about something and I don't think it's about midterms. I really think he's been clued in on something like Mueller having something serious on him and he's panicking to try to get rid of him before it comes out.

Maybe that's too much to wish for? But it makes sense to me.

by Anonymousreply 262September 25, 2018 1:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 265September 25, 2018 2:00 PM

R262, that would be Manafort. His non-reaction when it was announced, a whole weekend without hate tweets, and since then silence on Manafort himself.

by Anonymousreply 266September 25, 2018 2:03 PM

One can be a virgin and also an abusive pervert. They are not mutually exclusive.

by Anonymousreply 267September 25, 2018 3:39 PM

Any gay man who is against a woman’s choice or says “meh, who cares, it’s fish” is myopic and doesn’t understand the threat taking away Roe vs Wade is. Think they’ll just stop at that? Next, gay equal rights and forced conversion therapy or gays just disappearing.

It doesn’t matter if you disagree with abortion. The point is ownership over your own body.

by Anonymousreply 268September 25, 2018 3:58 PM
One can be a virgin and also an abusive pervert. They are not mutually exclusive.

But one probably isn't a virgin if they participated in gang rapes.

And one probably isn't a virgin if they spend their entire youth being an alcoholic so he could justify being drunk with his "best friend," so they had an excuse to be naked with one another. Just saying .

by Anonymousreply 269September 25, 2018 4:00 PM

R269, your reasoning is all over the place and your statements unsupported. Bottom line one CAN be a virgin and still assault a woman sexually, simply by forcing her to do invasive things she doesn’t want to do. Everything from sodomy to foreign objects to simple nudity. Get a grip.

by Anonymousreply 270September 25, 2018 4:05 PM

From article at R275
Nicker Akerman calls Mueller’s indictments “prosecutorial masterpieces”

by Anonymousreply 276September 25, 2018 4:17 PM

Also from the article:

This move undermines one of the biggest defenses Trump has in his arsenal, raising the likelihood that Mueller's probe could uncover seriously damaging information about the president or those close to him.

"When Manafort’s testimony is combined with the additional testimony of Flynn, Cohen and Gates, it appears that Mueller is quite likely on the verge of handing down new major indictments," Akerman concluded. "These indictments could very well answer the ultimate question of what Trump knew and when he knew it."

by Anonymousreply 277September 25, 2018 4:22 PM

R268 is correct. Kavanaugh (and any other like-minded justice) would willingly do away with the right to privacy (based on the 14th amendment) found in Griswold vs. Connecticut, and thus with the right to buy condoms and other forms of birth control and sexual protection. No such right was recognized by the courts until 1965 (and for unmarried people not until Eisenstadt v. Baird in 1972.

by Anonymousreply 278September 25, 2018 4:27 PM

R278, if the Supreme Court ever did away with the right to privacy, I think it might lose its legitimacy with the majority of Americans.

Could happen, though.

by Anonymousreply 279September 25, 2018 4:29 PM

So the idiot at r272 actually thinks that if someone drinks too much he can’t be a virgin and if someone’s a virgin he can’t be a rapist. Brilliant. Really who’s the moron here?

And r273 is so busy tracking down who and when someone clears cookies, (I’m not sure what the process is, but don’t everyone’s cookies get cleared every so often?) he must be on his way to get more butane for his meth torch, so he can light up and continue his mission. The only time I’ve knowingly cleared my cookies in this device was two days ago when I discovered my google searches were indicating that my IP address hailed from Miami. Since I don’t live inMiami, I thought resetting my location to factory settings would solve the problem. It didn’t. And I’m paying for that mistake. Before then I don’t remember ever conscientiously clearing cookies. Not sure I even know how to do it.

But r273, you keep your little tinfoil hat on and make sure you accuse everyone you can point your creepy little fingers to, that they are cookie clearers (whatever that means I’m not even sure). You’re a bore.

"He’s a high quality person, he’s a great intellect," Trump said in remarks to reporters at the United Nations, accusing Democrats of portraying Kavanaugh as someone he is not.

My opinion on the whole Rod Rosenstein resignation/firing/ultimate non-event on Monday, R262, is that it's further evidence of the WH seeding disinformation in various news sources so that no one knows what to believe anymore. It's a common tactic of authoritarians who want the public to rely only on their corrupt, authoritarian leaders for information.

Jonathan Swan of Axios was the first to report that RR had resigned (via telephone) to Chief of Staff John Kelly. (Axios' very existence depends entirely on WH sources, so they slavishly report whatever those sources want them to.) It most likely was Kelly himself that passed that absolutely false info on to Axios, knowing it would be reported immediately. Then, when other news outlets reported, variously, that RR was either not resigning, was actually being fired, etc., we, the public, were left not knowing up from down. In the end, RR, is still at DoJ, with the dangling possibility of going through this whole game again on Thursday, when he's scheduled to meet at the WH once more. Meanwhile, many people are accusing the NYT carrying water for the Trump Administration, while the NYT are similarly accusing other news sources of not being credible. The resulting shitstorm only serves the WH and their efforts to characterise all of the press as fake news.

The ultimate goal is to discredit any information doesn't come either directly from the WH itself or from its preferred propaganda arm, Fox News. A side benefit is that it also helps to distract from the GOP's absolutely shambolic handling of the Kavanaugh nomination -- hence the scheduling of RR's WH meeting on the same day as the Kavanaugh/Blasey Ford hearing.

I know which news sources I trust the most, but I take the time to evaluate even what those outlets report, especially "breaking news". I don't make up my mind until things settle a bit and the full news landscape can be seen with a bit more clarity. I rarely care about who reports news first, but rather what turns out to be demonstrably true or what ultimately proves to be the most credible. And that turns out never to be what either the WH or Fox News report.

Kavanaugh is a fine example of be careful how you treat people on your way up because you will meet them on your way down. But he's just the pre-show for Trump's downfall.

by Anonymousreply 331September 25, 2018 8:12 PM

This cabel news organization writer (CNN), views Lindsey Graham as one of the five best Senators in the U.S. Senate. Then, he expresses disappointment on Graham's comments expressing support for Kavanaugh, basically regardless of what Dr. Ford says in her testimony before the Judiciary Committee.

What is odd is the media has kept believing Graham is honest to the core, thinks, acts, and votes independently, and shows a willingness to consider all sides. What a charade. The media has perpetuated a false narrative on the Senator, and has given him regular, camera time to utter cutesy analogies and press an agenda in helf of DJT and the GOP haard-right establishment.

by Anonymousreply 338September 25, 2018 10:30 PM

The Republicans just keep kissing Trump ass, so apparently they aren't afraid. Is Russia going to help them win? I am afraid they are. If Russians tamper with the vote, will we be able to prove it?

Year after year we have to put up with Republican gerrymandering...why are Republicans so evil?

by Anonymousreply 339September 25, 2018 10:30 PM

I had heard that the vote would be next Tuesday. So what are the shady repugs thinking?

by Anonymousreply 340September 25, 2018 10:34 PM

There's a reason that despite all the IC stating that Russia did in fact hack our election the Rethugs refused to do anything to put any security measures in place.

by Anonymousreply 341September 25, 2018 10:35 PM

So the Rethugs are basically just sticking their tongues out at everyone and making it even clearer:

"You want to come out with all this shit on Kav? Fine. We're going to let it be known we don't care and we're going to confirm him even if it comes out that he rapes baby kangaroos."

by Anonymousreply 342September 25, 2018 10:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 344September 25, 2018 10:42 PM

Avenatti has said that he is going to come out with the stuff on Thursday. Rethugs moved the vote to Fri after he said this.

by Anonymousreply 360September 26, 2018 12:22 AM

From my contacts in a US congressman's office: A few Repug Senators are on the fence re: Brett. One is surprising. HOWEVER, a few Dems are leaning yes because they are red state Dems up for reelection. One Red state Dem has given a likely yes. This is why Turtle and the Repugs seem confident.

No names were given. My guess is- Repug on the fence obviously Murkowski and Collins. No idea who the surprising one could be. Dems leaning yes- Manchin is the likely yes. Donnelly and Heitkamp. Tester is a no. McCaskill is already on the record as no.

by Anonymousreply 361September 26, 2018 12:37 AM

Any Democrat who votes for this cretin needs to go.

by Anonymousreply 362September 26, 2018 12:43 AM

Just so I'm clear: It's not a question of whether or not Kavanaugh is guilty. That's irrelevant. It's whether or not enough Senators care that an abuser of women serves on the Supreme Court. As long as at least 50 are okay with it. Is that right?

Just like it's okay with the evangelicals that we have an attempted rapist as POTUS. It's more important that those women raped around allowed to abort their fetuses. Am I right?

by Anonymousreply 363September 26, 2018 12:43 AM

Yes, R363. Rape, sexual abuse, it's irrelevant to these people. They do not care. And that's the best case scenario. The worst case is that they actually approve of it.

by Anonymousreply 364September 26, 2018 12:48 AM

Regarding my congressional contacts- the situation is fluid. The Repugs in the Senate are turning people off, even "Likely yes Dem" with Turtle's shenanigans. They are freaked about Avenatti's new victim. My contacts have no clue but said those who know him don't think he would go this far without something huge. The surprising Repug is someone who voiced their concerns yesterday.

Axios showed us on Monday that being the first to report something doesn't make you the most trusted source for said news. People shouldn't let themselves get manipulated into freaking out and being glued to the TV screen or hit refresh in their browser app to catch the latest developments. I mean, that's some time and energy you never get back. The media basically steals your time and attention that could be used better elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 374September 26, 2018 5:51 AM

It's not just that Axios reported early on the Rosenstein thing that makes me not fully trust them. The guy that goes on the news shows all the time, I think he's the founder, just seems to equivocate too much and likes to play word games. He also just comes off as arrogant as hell. They seem to have become a go-to source very quickly without having to had to establish themselves as worthy of the trust necessary to do their job. I just see more issues like the Rosenstein one coming with them and wish they'd establish themselves a little more before becoming front page.

by Anonymousreply 384September 26, 2018 12:22 PM

R385 If Trump is directly implicated in the case, there is no way he will be able to pardon without paying a huge political cause since it's a direct obstruction of justice and an implicit admission of guilt. Everything is everyone else's fault except his. And the Repugs like to say they are the party of responsibility. Of course we know they are the exact opposite in every way.

by Anonymousreply 400September 26, 2018 10:10 PM

Everyone is saying this briefing shows he's lost his marbles.

He showed us he lost them a long time ago... but I agree that listening to pieces of it.. the fucker is certainly deranged.

The way that he rewrites history (telling all sorts of lies) so that he can believe this fantasy he creates? It's really fucking scary.

He actually stated that he only had 4 women accuse him of sexual assault... they were all paid to do so... that they appeared on the cover of the NY Times... that it turned out it was all a lie and they were furious they were used to tell such a lie... and that they all went on television and gave numerous interviews saying great things about him and saying that the accusations were a lie made up by the NY Times.

What. The. Fuck?

by Anonymousreply 401September 26, 2018 10:13 PM

And yet, not a single "journalist" corrected him or asked follow up questions .....especially when he went off about women being paid to say bad things about him.....the obvious comeback would have been to ask about the women he paid to prevent them from saying bad things.

by Anonymousreply 402September 26, 2018 10:15 PM

Also the way he backtracks on himself.

He calls the women liars. He says it's all bullshit and a game.

He then says he wants to hear what they say and they might be convincing and he might change his mind.

When asked if he thinks they're liars he says he doesn't know and that he needs to listen to what they have to say... and then proceeds to say it's all a lie by the Democrats who are laughing behind closed doors at how they've fooled all the people.

One of the pundits pointed out that because he kept lying and saying that all 3 women were testifying tomorrow... all the women should have their attorneys take that as an opportunity to show up and demand to be heard because Drumpf said they were allowed to testify!

by Anonymousreply 403September 26, 2018 10:15 PM

And I'm sure this has been pointed out before but I rarely ever listen to him speak...

What the fuck is up with his breathing?

The pattern of it and the way he speaks... what the fuck is wrong with him?

by Anonymousreply 404September 26, 2018 10:16 PM

Oh also the gem when the reporter asked him if he could understand why women don't report it because he has daughters...

He ignored the question entirely but I bet he wanted to respond:

"Yes, I have a daughter and I understand she loves it when I assault her."

by Anonymousreply 405September 26, 2018 10:18 PM

Miss Lindz and Tutleneck can cry "Dem conspiracy" all they want but the fact is, none such "false acquisitions" (tm Cheeto) were brought up against Gorsuch.

R433, this was in a letter or similar by a woman whose daughter was in a DC bar at the time and saw this unfold and mentions several people who witnessed this. What I didn't get is if the daughter and other witnesses were friends with this woman who was attacked and were together with her at the bar, or just bystanders.

1998 would have been near or around the time he worked with Ken Starr's team on the Clinton impeachment inquest and hearings.

They want Kavanaugh because he's already signaled his legal belief that sitting Presidents shouldn't be indicted and will vote favorably in this topic area should it come up in front of SCOTUS re Trump. He's also allegedly indicated he doesn't believe in double jeopardy, ie when someone can be brought up for similar charges in both Federal and state courts without one cancelling the other. This of course has big implications for #45 and his current band of mischief makers, since Mueller and his team have been carefully coordinating many charges with state AGs (NY) to make sure any potential Presidential pardon absolving federal responsibility is countered with state charges.

by Anonymousreply 436September 26, 2018 11:46 PM

r436 It has to be more than that. I am sure ACB or ANY of the ones on the sociopathic SC short list would do the exact same. Hell, they already assume the other 4 conservative justices will, so why not feel the others on the short list would?

It is much, much bigger than that.

by Anonymousreply 437September 26, 2018 11:49 PM

I agree R437. They can easily get any other person to agree to do all those things for Drumpf. There's a particular reason they don't just want, they NEED, Brett.

by Anonymousreply 438September 26, 2018 11:51 PM

R437 I just think Trump and Kavanaugh bonded from both being sleazy sociopaths who hate women.

by Anonymousreply 439September 26, 2018 11:52 PM

Do they even no each other, r439?

by Anonymousreply 440September 26, 2018 11:54 PM

Remind me... wasn't Kav NOT Drumpf's original pick? He wasn't even on Drumpf's original list?

by Anonymousreply 441September 26, 2018 11:55 PM

Well there's also the fact that he was hand picked as successor by the retiring Justice Kennedy. Kind of a quid pro quo thing going on there. It was supposedly part of the agreement in getting Kennedy to retire early.

by Anonymousreply 442September 26, 2018 11:55 PM

If we believe the media reports, McTurtle wasn't so hot on Kavanaugh but Cheeto pushed for him because his views on executive power are fully and completely in his (Cheeto's) corner.

by Anonymousreply 443September 26, 2018 11:55 PM

And why did Kennedy want him? Kennedy was supposed to be the more moderate Rethug and Kav is anything but. So why did he want him?

by Anonymousreply 444September 26, 2018 11:57 PM

r441 Correct, he wasn't on the original short list. He was placed on it after Kennedy stepped down. Then he gets picked after not being on the original list.

R442 I kind of agree that may be it BUT the frantic nature of their actions all the while knowing all this dirt is out there is strange and alarming.

by Anonymousreply 445September 26, 2018 11:57 PM

And why did Kennedy retire so quickly? Were they afraid or did they know that Drumpf would most likely be out sooner rather than later and wanted to ensure he got to choose the replacement?

by Anonymousreply 446September 26, 2018 11:59 PM

Ask about those Deutsch Bank loans r446.

by Anonymousreply 447September 27, 2018 12:00 AM

by Anonymousreply 451September 27, 2018 2:06 AM

R451 I find it unfathomable that they would do that—not because they’re spectacular gents, but the risk is overwhelming. If this were the case and it was going out, it would blow up the works to smithereens.

by Anonymousreply 453September 27, 2018 2:10 AM

Now that Kavanaugh's ugly face has been plastered all over the internet and tv, people are recognizing him. More are sure to come forward.

by Anonymousreply 454September 27, 2018 2:10 AM

Just wanted to say that I hate the title of this thread because every time I see the word 'mushroom' I think of Trump's mushroom-headed dinky bits and dry heave.

R451, the boat one seems to be fake but are we sure about the 4th one, outside a bar? And, if these fuckers were any good at subterfuge, they'd have had any fake stories take place when he was a teenager. Why would they want to pretend things happened after he was an adult if they were trying to muddy the waters? Just makes him seem like he never stopped his rapey ways.

by Anonymousreply 455September 27, 2018 2:10 AM

The 4th one sounds legit to me because it was sent to a Republican and the story is that he was a mean violent drunk. Which is what John Heilemann stated about his friend Mark Judge - as Heilemann was working as a bartender in DC at the time, and what is basically the gist of Dr Ford's story, that they were drunk and violent, esp. Kavanaugh.

The 4th woman wrote that her daughter was in a circle of friends with Kavanaugh in DC, who was dating a friend of hers at the time, and that friend and the daughter decided they want to stay anonymous.

It is not that hard, I guess, by the FBI to ascertain who he was dating at the time.

by Anonymousreply 456September 27, 2018 2:39 AM

How did this guy have time to go to law school, and work with Ken Starr to bring down the Clintons? what with all the raping and all. Very busy!

by Anonymousreply 457September 27, 2018 2:43 AM

Well, the background investigation is not intended to be made public, so the women could speak to the FBI and still not be revealed publicly. Comments that people make to the FBI are supposed to stay confidential. The only people who can read the BIs are people authorized to do so at DOJ, the WH, and on the respective Senate Committees.

by Anonymousreply 458September 27, 2018 2:51 AM

The Committees in Congress leak like a sieve.

by Anonymousreply 459September 27, 2018 2:53 AM

True enough, R459, but leaking a BI from the FBI is risky business. The Bureau takes the confidentiality very seriously. While Congress generally leaks constantly, I'm not aware of BI information being in that same category.

Rosenstein may be the one clear loser of this situation. If it goes not so well for the judge tomorrow, Cheeto may decide to withdraw him and take Rosenstein's head instead to look like a winner.

by Anonymousreply 463September 27, 2018 3:05 AM

It was Kavanaugh that wrote all the salty, sexual, narratives of Bill Clinton -Monica encounters for Ken Starr's report.

By the way, Ken Starr's has been all over cable TV promoting/defending Kavanaugh. Starr was fired a couple of years ago as President of Baylor University for his disturbing oversight of personnel who were covering up multiple sexual assault/rape complaints by women students concerning members of the football team. Nobody interviewing Starr is bringing this up. It is absurd to give Starr air time on this matter.

We're assuming that all, or most, of these incidents were unknown and weren't found by the FBI during the background investigation. But, remember, that background report is ordered by the White House and the findings are given to the White House in order to make the nomination. The results of the original background check could very well have shown all of this but the White House was the only body to see it. It wouldn't have been shared with Congress because they supposedly run their own investigation, outside the original nominating investigation.

We know Trump thinks these kinds of attacks on women are no big deal. Trump may have known all about it and just gone ahead anyway because 'What's the big deal about a few rape-y incidents? He didn't even succeed!" I hope Kavanaugh has to withdraw and Trump finally strokes himself into a vegetative state and then put in a hospital where he is routinely tortured for the rest of his sorry life.

R468, your premise is flawed: the BI that the Bureau produces for the White House is the same BI that is sent up to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The FBI Background Unit keeps the original BI and sends a copy to the White House. That is the same copy that is then delivered to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where it remains until the nomination process is complete.

It is not surprising that the allegations were not in one of the six prior BIs. They really only interview a closed circle of people. If the agents hear anything from those folks that needs clarification, they will then expand that circle.

Why they need this judge:

"What’s the rush with Kavanaugh you say? Why not investigate? Here is why: So it is now very clear why the GOP is so desperate to get Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court by next month that they would schedule a vote before hearing from Dr. Ford or any other witness that comes forward. BIG STAKES HERE... if you check out SCOTUSblog, you will see that on next month's docket is: Gamble v. U.S., No. 17-646. Issue(s): Whether the Supreme Court should overrule the "separate sovereigns" exception to the double jeopardy clause. They are desperate. The plan was to appoint Kavanaugh early this week so that he would be seated in time for this ruling. It was in the bag. Saves everyone involved from state charges. Not only Trump but all políticos who were knowingly enriched by the $$$ funneled through the NRA into the coffers of McConnell, Graham, Rubio, Ryan, etc. So if Kavanaugh gets appointed he’d effectively vote to stop states from charging Trump or anyone else involved. Obstruction of justice."'

by Anonymousreply 552September 28, 2018 5:00 PM

Nobody has been "constantly going on about it."

by Anonymousreply 553September 28, 2018 5:01 PM

Youre the one saying someone should do it and then bitching that people should get off their asses and do something.. but you havent.

So.

by Anonymousreply 554September 28, 2018 5:02 PM

Exactly, R552. It can't just be some rando that starts up the fund.

Curious R552 have you or has anyone looked into a lawsuit against Stein for how she used that money? I didn't contribute to her so I don't know what's been done with regard to that.

by Anonymousreply 555September 28, 2018 5:05 PM

Just watched that clip of Hillary and to think that is what we could have had.

by Anonymousreply 556September 28, 2018 5:11 PM

Now that creep Stone is trying to setup a narrative that he might be "framed" in the Mueller investigation.

by Anonymousreply 557September 28, 2018 5:12 PM

Why is he even talking about it, R557?

Is an indictment about to come out?

by Anonymousreply 558September 28, 2018 5:14 PM

And to answer who else we want added on the list:

Chaffetz

Pence

Miller

by Anonymousreply 559September 28, 2018 5:18 PM

Ivanka

Jared

Jr.

KAC

by Anonymousreply 560September 28, 2018 5:18 PM

I really am stunned at how much they keep getting away wit.

by Anonymousreply 561September 28, 2018 5:18 PM

I was hoping Aveantti would have his client try to press charges before today's hearing.

by Anonymousreply 562September 28, 2018 5:20 PM

I am, too. I’m afraid they are going to get away with everything. I’m beyond angry

by Anonymousreply 563September 28, 2018 5:21 PM

I like how Avenatti goes after their lies.

Let's throw in Cruz and Rubio.

by Anonymousreply 570September 28, 2018 5:27 PM

It feels more like the Republican Party is playing 3D chess while the democrats are playing checkers.

by Anonymousreply 573September 28, 2018 5:28 PM

R571 no.

Republicans are playing checkers and the Democrats have just gone home.

by Anonymousreply 574September 28, 2018 5:29 PM

Why do Republicans have such awful skin?

by Anonymousreply 575September 28, 2018 5:29 PM

Ted Cruz's face also makes me physically ill.

by Anonymousreply 576September 28, 2018 5:30 PM

Democrats have gone home because they've just given up.

Lifting a term from organized prostitution.....

Miss Lindzey let it be known, in no uncertain terms, she's Trump's bottom bitch.

by Anonymousreply 578September 28, 2018 5:30 PM

Anybody can start a fund.

You then hire professional investigators with the fund.

by Anonymousreply 579September 28, 2018 5:31 PM

No, Rethugs are too busy playing Durak.

by Anonymousreply 580September 28, 2018 5:34 PM

Then do it already, R579.

Oh look.. he's a lying liar. Shocked!

Kyle Griffin: Kavanaugh repeatedly said he was legally allowed to consume beer as a prep school senior in Maryland.

In fact, he was never legal in high school because Maryland's drinking age increased to 21 at the end of his junior year, while he was still 17, AP says.

He's controlling the narrative so the Deplorables believe that poor Stone is indeed framed by those Nazi Liberals when he's getting indicted. When he doesn't get indicted it's beause he stood his ground and is a brave hero who stood up to those Nazi Liberals. Win-Win!

by Anonymousreply 585September 28, 2018 5:56 PM

Yes, R585 but is he doing it now because he knows one is about to come down on him?

by Anonymousreply 586September 28, 2018 5:58 PM

r586, he's preparing for the possiblity. Future will tell if (and when) is right or not.

by Anonymousreply 587September 28, 2018 6:03 PM
