r5, it is well known that Hannity and Trump talk on the phone every day.
For Hannity to make such a brazen statement, it is expected that he already talked about this with Trump.
It is a twofer, either Trump does nothing and it appears that Hannity saved him from destruction, or he does NOT appear to listen to Hannity and Hannity gives him cover till after the midterms or whenever. OH those evil deep staters. It is a win win for Trumpie.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 22, 2018 8:33 AM |
My guess R5 is, the Rethugs are scared that any firing/s will bring even more Dems into the Capitol.
They probably told Hannity in no uncertain terms to fall in line and deliver the message to Cheeto.
Hannity makes it sound like a Dem conspiracy to trick Cheeto. But it can still be Cheeto's peeps in Congress, like Nunes and Jim Jordan, who were the conduits of the leak, and Hannity is just pretending he doesn't know. This has their fingerprints all over it.

Russia/GOP will probably try to hold on to the Senate. They won't have as much success with the House. Here's a thing to remember: In 2016, Hillary was swamped. She had Comey, Russians, and a perfect storm of shit piling on her...and SHE STILL WON THE POPULAR VOTE. This time there is no Electoral College to rob her. So turn out is critical.
We have to make this the biggest tsunami of anti Trump turnout they have ever seen. I want those fuckers cowering under their beds, trembling with fear when they realize how much we all hate them. When their own, credible, long standing pundits out here like William Kristol, George Will, Steve Schmidt, etc.etc.etc. are urging people to vote for the Democrat, that has to scare the shit out of them.
The House will conduct hearings. They may even impeach at some point. But they really can't do too much harm without the Senate to convict him. No matter what the outcome, I predict that Trump will fire Rosenstein and Sessions after the mid terms. You can bank that. And before he has finished tweeting those firings, Mueller will unleash a barrage of indictments. Both men are going to act after the Midterms. But we have to turn out. We have to. No excuses.
Go find out if you're registered and keep checking to make sure you don't get purged. Also, check to make sure you know WHERE to vote. An old trick I learned as a party hack years ago: Changing the polling place at the last minute and posting the new location, makes it difficult and inconvenient for voters and some don't have the time to drive to the new place. Also, vote early. They often "run out of ballots." Make sure you know if they have early voting in your county. Remember, voting is the very least you can do.All the marches and phone calls in the world won't matter id we don't show up.
Remember:In 2010 we gave Congress away. We didn't show up.

If we're still complaining about the NYT on this thread, I just want to add that all of their articles, from those urging the gentrification of faded neighborhoods (see the "faded neighborhood" thread) to the most serious political matters, have a redolent mug-cradling sensibility, as if all of their reporters were concern-troll fraus who occasionally take a break from whispering with Ivanka and Wendy Deng to ingenuously try out a new $1800 avocado-toast maker and marvel that they ever lived without it. It's a queasy mixture from beginning to end of lame punning headlines and winking contrarianism, relieved only by the astringency of Paul Krugman and Charles Blow.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 22, 2018 12:30 PM |
You have summed up the NYT very well, R14. But what really bothers me most about that paper is that their so-called reporters (Maggie Haberman, Michael Schmidt, Judith Miller, etc.) are such "useful idiots" who get played over and over by the White House.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 22, 2018 12:59 PM |
Whether he meant it or not, Rosenstein was right in thinking that this president needs the 25th Amendment solution; personally I think he's a complete loon.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 22, 2018 1:08 PM |
Yes, R15; I just wanted to add that the whole paper, not just its Trump-leaning political reporting, breathes an air of privileged solipsism and obliviousness to the actual consequences of the social and political actions they're writing about. The political reporting has almost the same affect as the met-cute full-page wedding stories. Anyway, I'm not sure those reporters are idiots; they're complicit.

The media adored Lindsey Graham, a daily feature before the network cameras, especially on Fox News, finds a way at the same time, to both diss the New York Times and defend his beloved President Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 22, 2018 1:38 PM |
The NYT' story was a plant. Wonder what DJT, Nunes, Jim Jordan, Graham, Mark Levin, Hannity, and even Vlad, knew about this beforehand?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 22, 2018 1:48 PM |
That's not how I see it, r14. I don't get any general "frau" sensibility from the NYT's tone. I get privileged straight/closeted white men's club vibes among the male reporters and their same-level sources, with the Maggie H. and Judith M. ilk piercing that men's only club veil by strategically using their feminine wiles to flatter and tease.

by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 22, 2018 2:13 PM |
R20 I believe so, too. It was written to slur Rosenstein but the truth that shines through is that our IC knows Trump is a criminal and unfit.
The antidote to this nonsense is easy: “Substitute ‘Obama’ for ‘Trump’—now how do you feel?”
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 22, 2018 2:17 PM |
R14 for the win. Brilliant assessment. You write very well. I love your acidity.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 22, 2018 2:24 PM |
R23 I often encounter a lot of Deplorables and when I do I often engage them by asking them how they feel about some awful thing that Dotard did but I replace his name with Hillary or Obama. They're so ill informed they never know what I'm doing and they become outraged and start screaming about how evil they are (and what a cunt Hillary is).
I then laugh and tell them I'm just kidding and it was actually Dotard that did it and how do they feel about it now?
Most get pissed at me and some, being the Deplorables that they are, end up making excuses for Dotard and say whatever he did wasn't that bad.

I don't know why our side doesn't get that. It's a minimum effort on the scale of the effect it can have.
Rethugs show up because they know voting is the possibility to get maximum outcome with minimum effort. They aren't flakes who have to be "inspired" by the candidate to just drive to the polls and push a few buttons. 1-2 hours of their time on average in return for years of getting what they want.

I doubt the regular conservative voter will vote in the mid-term being put off by their party letting Trump and the Deplorables run over them and make them look like fools. I bet the Deplorables even hope for a blue wave so they can get their guns out and, as militant group, physically protect the White House. Only to be shot down by Trump and his White House security personel who's gotten so paranoid that he thinks the Deplorables are there to get him or it's the Liberals trying to get him.

@JustSchmeltzer
Replying to @mattbpurdy 1/ Not one outlet says the account isn’t at least in dispute. You’re the only ones reporting AS INCONTROVERTIBLE FACT that he was not being sarcastic. You’re lying to people, and it is gross.
Absent evidence, second-hand sources are not “fact” when first-hand sources dispute.
2/ slamming YOUR OWN READERS for pointing that out is gross, unprofessional, and calls into question how confident you are in an ability to back up your reporting when it is in serious dispute.
Dean himself said your readers are now your public ed, when you fired your public ed.
3/ if you can’t or won’t allow readers to act as your public ed, and demand you back up your reporting with SOME evidence, when it is being disputed by EVERY OTHER OUTLET, then give us an public editor again, who can.
But trashing your readers? Just stop.
4/4 FWIW you come off like Stephen Miller, saying the power and accuracy of the NYT shall not be questioned.
No one here is saying this is fake news, but are raising legit points. Your heavy-handed response to readers is worthy of this White House, not a responsible news outlet.

Exactly, R67. He worked his way up the ladder as a ratfucker. He was manoeuvred into a track to the Supreme Court after proving himself in the Bush II White House, where his public lies and cover-ups satisfied his superiors (although they're all coming out now, despite the massive withholding of documents). His juridical skills are mediocre, and so is his intelligence to judge from the hearings. In fact, the whole Republican apparatus is being exposed as pretty bankrupt right now.

What dems need is momentum, and I think a week or two from now they will have it in spades, all the way through the election and into 2019.
There are currently too many people on the fence or indifferent but this SC mess has the ability to make everyone wake up, pay attention and pick a side.

You may be right about it firing up women, but they are already fired up...even the Repug ones who are going for Dems, at least in the suburbs. However, I'd wager there are polls already out there showing that men don't give two shits about this Supreme Court thing. First of all, it involves "women issues" like abortion and, in their eyes, some harmless sexual horseplay where the guy was not only a teenager but drunk. That doesn't count in their eyes, mostly because so many of them did the exact same thing.
This is a huge issue for women. It's mostly a non-issue for men. Men who, as of the polls I saw on Monday, still favor Repugs on generic ballots for both the House and the Senate.

Some people don't believe in karma because, in order for things to "come around," the first have to "go around" to an initial horrible state (an evil person first goes around to fuck innocent people before karma comes around to bringing the evil person down). Why would the universe want evil to be elevated in the first place? There's no karma - if there were, Cheney et al would be in jail.

Jane Mayer is the author of Dark Money a book predominantly about the sleazy disgusting Koch Brothers. Their German nanny made the boys sit on their little potty chairs same time every day to move their little bowels regularly. Also, how they tried to smear their older brother as gay and cut him out of the daddy's will. Kochs tried to smear Jane and sue her but were completely unsuccessful. Book was recommended to me by my neighbor who worked for Koch until she stopped drinking the Kool Ade and realized how evil and destructive what they do is to the planet and they don't give a shit. This is nothing more than an opinion by someone who retains maybe a sixteenth of the publicly-known history of the Mueller investigation, but it seems to me that the option to dismiss DAG Rod Rosenstein was always available, but DJT was always counseled against doing so, and that Mueller long ago recognized dismissal as a potential event, and planned for that contingency; therefore firing RR is akin to a "poison pill" that not only screams [bold]obstruction of justice[/bold] but is a sign from 45 that he's done, the job is too hard, too much harassment, et cetera. I would not be surprised if several high-value/high-profile indictments were released within 48 hours of Rosenstein's termination.

NYT is defensive because:
1. they got “scooped” on the Ramirez story: weren’t able to locate the guy who was 100% certain of the details because he heard the dirty details from an attendee the day after it happened; and,
2. their reporting on RR is correct. Likely the News division ran it as an FU to the paper!s management, which refused to let the reporters do an investigative piece on the true identity of the op ed department’s “Anonymous” author.

Who needs an October surprise when it's pretty much expected that there'll be drama after drama in the news media entertainment? I think I'm going to pull the plug (social and news) media wise and focus on everything being in order to make sure my vote counts. Maybe I let my inner frau out and buy some coloring book for adults and occupy myself with that instead of following the news.
by Anonymous | reply 215 | September 24, 2018 8:47 PM |
Isn't it interesting that the Republican-controlled Senate can go to immense lengths to defend Kavanaugh from allegations of old sexual improprieties, but has no time to insist on sufficient measures to protect our election system from on-going Russian and other foreign interventions.
The shame of America is that people such as McConnell, Graham, Cruz, Grassley, Paul, Hatch, Cotton, Cornin, etc. are elected to office. And that's just the Senate.

The Democrats need to insist a vote be taken on a motion to protect Mueller investigation. If Mcturtle refuses then they need to go to the public and let the public know what we mostly already know -that the Republicans are actively obstructing justice and not upholding the Constitution and ask WHY? Things are just getting worse and worse. I feel like I am living in an alternate universe with all the despicable shit going on.
We can't let these pukes get away with this democracy destroying shit in service to an amoral, evil, narcissistic, evil, sociopathic piece of slime. Fuck I'm mad and I'm not going to take it anymore.

At least Avenatti can communicate issues like R218 is suggesting. What is wrong w Demos? They don’t do a good job of communicating simple messages.
by Anonymous | reply 219 | September 24, 2018 9:43 PM |
R218, there is legislation like that. It was voted in Committee but McTurtle has refused to bring it to a floor vote. Unfortunately, unless McTurtle wants to, it won't be voted on.
Sen. Coons was just talking about this legislation again on msnbc. He often talks about it since he's the author of the bill.
Dems can't do much in minority position in either houses except talk in the media.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | September 24, 2018 9:44 PM |
I say let Avenatti go off the leash. I guess he probably doesn't have a leash but I back him 1000 percent. He's got the least to lose and the biggest balls to go for it-to speak truth about the sleaze and slime in the WH and among Republicans (both male and female. I would like to see Susan Collins grow a pair or she is as hypocritical as all the R's) the media -esp. CNN and to a much, much lesser degree MSNBC are so timid about saying the truth. DJT and family have been in debt to Russians for a very long time. I wish MSNBC would run the documentary Active Measures. More Americans need to watch and learn. The DJT deplorable base won't understand it anyway.

Is there any mechanism for the House to do an investigation? I mean, say Trump finds a way to end the Mueller JD investigation, could the House (assuming the Democrats take it) hire Mueller to do a new investigation?

by Anonymous | reply 223 | September 24, 2018 11:04 PM |
Avenatti is doing what I want my elected Democrats to do. There’s too little outrage on the left and I don’t see many Democrats on every channel ranting against this administration. I’m glad that we have someone like Avenatti on our side.
Let’s face it, Democrats don’t know how to attack the right or how to seek their accomplishments. Instead of attacking people like Avenatti, we should learn from him.

This "train" story is blowing up. Avenatti basically said that Brett and his friend Mark and several others participated in a gang rape of a girl in high school. She is coming forward in the next couple of days. He said that she is highly credible with Government clearances and history.
by Anonymous | reply 230 | September 25, 2018 1:35 AM |
Is she the victim of the alleged gang rape though, or someone who was close to the victim or just someone who was present at the party when it occurred?
I was in high school just a few years after Kavanaugh and can recall significant details when pressed about major parties or events that happened back then. Even close timeframes, close to exact dates. I'm surprised there aren't more witnesses from that time period who knew BK and Judge and heard about their shenanigans in detail.
by Anonymous | reply 231 | September 25, 2018 1:38 AM |
r231, were you a blackout drunk in high school?
by Anonymous | reply 232 | September 25, 2018 1:54 AM |
No of course not, which is why I remember so much.
What about other witnesses? Not everyone was a massive party animal and drunk like BK.
by Anonymous | reply 233 | September 25, 2018 1:56 AM |
I wonder if we'll start seeing some witnesses to emerge and maybe one more accuser.
by Anonymous | reply 234 | September 25, 2018 1:58 AM |
Well, I was a blackout drunk in high school and there were very, very few other kids I hung out with who were not also afloat in the endless party. Non-party kids were boring and we definitely wouldn't have trusted them to not appeal to an authority figure if an evening began to turn sideways -- sideways for us meant we were successfully breaking the town.

Wait.. what?
Fox News interview by Martha McCallum with Brett Kavanaugh. Note of interest: Martha McCallum was a defender of Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly during the sexual harassment scandal at Fox News.
“So you’re saying through all these years that are in question that you were a virgin?” MacCallum asked Kavanaugh.
“That’s correct," he replied.
She pressed on: “And through what years in college, since we’re probing into your personal life here?”
“Many years after, I’ll leave it at that," he answered. "Many years after."

I read the article at work and can't find the exact one (but I'll keep looking). Right now, this one explains it a bit but the article I read earlier today (on either Politico or Vox, I think) went into more detail. I remember one part specifically named three people she could name. One was a fired Rod Rosenstein. One was another prominent prosecutor. And one was Mueller himself.
I'll keep looking...it can't have gone far!
by Anonymous | reply 246 | September 25, 2018 5:30 AM |
Well, I can't find the goddamn article. I read it at work so it's not even in my history. It was linked as an additional story at the bottom of another article today. Fucking annoying as hell. Well, what I wrote above is what it said. I remembered it because I thought it was funny that they said she could appoint either Rosenstein or Mueller, should they both be fired. It also said it would move it out from under any control of the Executive so Trump couldn't touch it.

Fuck me for being the fool who just cannot believe this, or that he didn't know those emails were stolen or that he's a political operative who wants to take 'abortion inducing drugs' away from women. Going back to the RR NY Times article. Someone mentioned it upthread but it really is odd to me that the event they wrote about happened over a year ago and they only now just published it. I think Im on the same lines as the poster above who said they feel like they sat on it and intentionally released it this weekend to give Orange cover.
That got me thinking. Aside from trying to divert from Kavanaugh why now? If he's trying to actually fire RR again, why now?
It makes me feel like there's an immediate desperation because he's really scared about something and I don't think it's about midterms. I really think he's been clued in on something like Mueller having something serious on him and he's panicking to try to get rid of him before it comes out.
Maybe that's too much to wish for? But it makes sense to me.

by Anonymous | reply 276 | September 25, 2018 4:17 PM |
Also from the article:
This move undermines one of the biggest defenses Trump has in his arsenal, raising the likelihood that Mueller's probe could uncover seriously damaging information about the president or those close to him.
"When Manafort’s testimony is combined with the additional testimony of Flynn, Cohen and Gates, it appears that Mueller is quite likely on the verge of handing down new major indictments," Akerman concluded. "These indictments could very well answer the ultimate question of what Trump knew and when he knew it."
by Anonymous | reply 277 | September 25, 2018 4:22 PM |
R268 is correct. Kavanaugh (and any other like-minded justice) would willingly do away with the right to privacy (based on the 14th amendment) found in Griswold vs. Connecticut, and thus with the right to buy condoms and other forms of birth control and sexual protection. No such right was recognized by the courts until 1965 (and for unmarried people not until Eisenstadt v. Baird in 1972.

The only time I’ve knowingly cleared my cookies in this device was two days ago when I discovered my google searches were indicating that my IP address hailed from Miami. Since I don’t live inMiami, I thought resetting my location to factory settings would solve the problem. It didn’t. And I’m paying for that mistake. Before then I don’t remember ever conscientiously clearing cookies. Not sure I even know how to do it.

My opinion on the whole Rod Rosenstein resignation/firing/ultimate non-event on Monday, R262, is that it's further evidence of the WH seeding disinformation in various news sources so that no one knows what to believe anymore. It's a common tactic of authoritarians who want the public to rely only on their corrupt, authoritarian leaders for information.
Jonathan Swan of Axios was the first to report that RR had resigned (via telephone) to Chief of Staff John Kelly. (Axios' very existence depends entirely on WH sources, so they slavishly report whatever those sources want them to.) It most likely was Kelly himself that passed that absolutely false info on to Axios, knowing it would be reported immediately. Then, when other news outlets reported, variously, that RR was either not resigning, was actually being fired, etc., we, the public, were left not knowing up from down. In the end, RR, is still at DoJ, with the dangling possibility of going through this whole game again on Thursday, when he's scheduled to meet at the WH once more. Meanwhile, many people are accusing the NYT carrying water for the Trump Administration, while the NYT are similarly accusing other news sources of not being credible. The resulting shitstorm only serves the WH and their efforts to characterise all of the press as fake news.
The ultimate goal is to discredit any information doesn't come either directly from the WH itself or from its preferred propaganda arm, Fox News. A side benefit is that it also helps to distract from the GOP's absolutely shambolic handling of the Kavanaugh nomination -- hence the scheduling of RR's WH meeting on the same day as the Kavanaugh/Blasey Ford hearing.
I know which news sources I trust the most, but I take the time to evaluate even what those outlets report, especially "breaking news". I don't make up my mind until things settle a bit and the full news landscape can be seen with a bit more clarity. I rarely care about who reports news first, but rather what turns out to be demonstrably true or what ultimately proves to be the most credible. And that turns out never to be what either the WH or Fox News report.

This cabel news organization writer (CNN), views Lindsey Graham as one of the five best Senators in the U.S. Senate. Then, he expresses disappointment on Graham's comments expressing support for Kavanaugh, basically regardless of what Dr. Ford says in her testimony before the Judiciary Committee.
What is odd is the media has kept believing Graham is honest to the core, thinks, acts, and votes independently, and shows a willingness to consider all sides. What a charade. The media has perpetuated a false narrative on the Senator, and has given him regular, camera time to utter cutesy analogies and press an agenda in helf of DJT and the GOP haard-right establishment.

From my contacts in a US congressman's office: A few Repug Senators are on the fence re: Brett. One is surprising. HOWEVER, a few Dems are leaning yes because they are red state Dems up for reelection. One Red state Dem has given a likely yes. This is why Turtle and the Repugs seem confident.
No names were given. My guess is- Repug on the fence obviously Murkowski and Collins. No idea who the surprising one could be. Dems leaning yes- Manchin is the likely yes. Donnelly and Heitkamp. Tester is a no. McCaskill is already on the record as no.

Just so I'm clear: It's not a question of whether or not Kavanaugh is guilty. That's irrelevant. It's whether or not enough Senators care that an abuser of women serves on the Supreme Court. As long as at least 50 are okay with it. Is that right?
Just like it's okay with the evangelicals that we have an attempted rapist as POTUS. It's more important that those women raped around allowed to abort their fetuses. Am I right?

The surprising Repug is someone who voiced their concerns yesterday.

Axios showed us on Monday that being the first to report something doesn't make you the most trusted source for said news. People shouldn't let themselves get manipulated into freaking out and being glued to the TV screen or hit refresh in their browser app to catch the latest developments. I mean, that's some time and energy you never get back. The media basically steals your time and attention that could be used better elsewhere.

It's not just that Axios reported early on the Rosenstein thing that makes me not fully trust them. The guy that goes on the news shows all the time, I think he's the founder, just seems to equivocate too much and likes to play word games. He also just comes off as arrogant as hell. They seem to have become a go-to source very quickly without having to had to establish themselves as worthy of the trust necessary to do their job. I just see more issues like the Rosenstein one coming with them and wish they'd establish themselves a little more before becoming front page.

Everyone is saying this briefing shows he's lost his marbles.
He showed us he lost them a long time ago... but I agree that listening to pieces of it.. the fucker is certainly deranged.
The way that he rewrites history (telling all sorts of lies) so that he can believe this fantasy he creates? It's really fucking scary.
He actually stated that he only had 4 women accuse him of sexual assault... they were all paid to do so... that they appeared on the cover of the NY Times... that it turned out it was all a lie and they were furious they were used to tell such a lie... and that they all went on television and gave numerous interviews saying great things about him and saying that the accusations were a lie made up by the NY Times.
What. The. Fuck?
by Anonymous | reply 401 | September 26, 2018 10:13 PM |
And yet, not a single "journalist" corrected him or asked follow up questions .....especially when he went off about women being paid to say bad things about him.....the obvious comeback would have been to ask about the women he paid to prevent them from saying bad things.
by Anonymous | reply 402 | September 26, 2018 10:15 PM |
Also the way he backtracks on himself.
He calls the women liars. He says it's all bullshit and a game.
He then says he wants to hear what they say and they might be convincing and he might change his mind.
When asked if he thinks they're liars he says he doesn't know and that he needs to listen to what they have to say... and then proceeds to say it's all a lie by the Democrats who are laughing behind closed doors at how they've fooled all the people.
One of the pundits pointed out that because he kept lying and saying that all 3 women were testifying tomorrow... all the women should have their attorneys take that as an opportunity to show up and demand to be heard because Drumpf said they were allowed to testify!

Trump wants Kavenaugh to save his ass when it comes to impeachment and the GOP wants Kavenaugh to push through their conservative agenda. Plus he's clearly one of them, a sociopath.
by Anonymous | reply 434 | September 26, 2018 11:41 PM |
Miss Lindz and Tutleneck can cry "Dem conspiracy" all they want but the fact is, none such "false acquisitions" (tm Cheeto) were brought up against Gorsuch.
R433, this was in a letter or similar by a woman whose daughter was in a DC bar at the time and saw this unfold and mentions several people who witnessed this. What I didn't get is if the daughter and other witnesses were friends with this woman who was attacked and were together with her at the bar, or just bystanders.
by Anonymous | reply 435 | September 26, 2018 11:44 PM |
1998 would have been near or around the time he worked with Ken Starr's team on the Clinton impeachment inquest and hearings.
They want Kavanaugh because he's already signaled his legal belief that sitting Presidents shouldn't be indicted and will vote favorably in this topic area should it come up in front of SCOTUS re Trump. He's also allegedly indicated he doesn't believe in double jeopardy, ie when someone can be brought up for similar charges in both Federal and state courts without one cancelling the other. This of course has big implications for #45 and his current band of mischief makers, since Mueller and his team have been carefully coordinating many charges with state AGs (NY) to make sure any potential Presidential pardon absolving federal responsibility is countered with state charges.
by Anonymous | reply 436 | September 26, 2018 11:46 PM |
r436 It has to be more than that. I am sure ACB or ANY of the ones on the sociopathic SC short list would do the exact same. Hell, they already assume the other 4 conservative justices will, so why not feel the others on the short list would?
It is much, much bigger than that.

by Anonymous | reply 442 | September 26, 2018 11:55 PM |
If we believe the media reports, McTurtle wasn't so hot on Kavanaugh but Cheeto pushed for him because his views on executive power are fully and completely in his (Cheeto's) corner.

by Anonymous | reply 445 | September 26, 2018 11:57 PM |

R451, the boat one seems to be fake but are we sure about the 4th one, outside a bar? And, if these fuckers were any good at subterfuge, they'd have had any fake stories take place when he was a teenager. Why would they want to pretend things happened after he was an adult if they were trying to muddy the waters? Just makes him seem like he never stopped his rapey ways.
by Anonymous | reply 455 | September 27, 2018 2:10 AM |
The 4th one sounds legit to me because it was sent to a Republican and the story is that he was a mean violent drunk. Which is what John Heilemann stated about his friend Mark Judge - as Heilemann was working as a bartender in DC at the time, and what is basically the gist of Dr Ford's story, that they were drunk and violent, esp. Kavanaugh.
The 4th woman wrote that her daughter was in a circle of friends with Kavanaugh in DC, who was dating a friend of hers at the time, and that friend and the daughter decided they want to stay anonymous.
It is not that hard, I guess, by the FBI to ascertain who he was dating at the time.

by Anonymous | reply 457 | September 27, 2018 2:43 AM |
Well, the background investigation is not intended to be made public, so the women could speak to the FBI and still not be revealed publicly. Comments that people make to the FBI are supposed to stay confidential. The only people who can read the BIs are people authorized to do so at DOJ, the WH, and on the respective Senate Committees.
by Anonymous | reply 458 | September 27, 2018 2:51 AM |
The Committees in Congress leak like a sieve.
by Anonymous | reply 459 | September 27, 2018 2:53 AM |
True enough, R459, but leaking a BI from the FBI is risky business. The Bureau takes the confidentiality very seriously. While Congress generally leaks constantly, I'm not aware of BI information being in that same category.

It was Kavanaugh that wrote all the salty, sexual, narratives of Bill Clinton -Monica encounters for Ken Starr's report.
By the way, Ken Starr's has been all over cable TV promoting/defending Kavanaugh. Starr was fired a couple of years ago as President of Baylor University for his disturbing oversight of personnel who were covering up multiple sexual assault/rape complaints by women students concerning members of the football team. Nobody interviewing Starr is bringing this up. It is absurd to give Starr air time on this matter.

We're assuming that all, or most, of these incidents were unknown and weren't found by the FBI during the background investigation. But, remember, that background report is ordered by the White House and the findings are given to the White House in order to make the nomination. The results of the original background check could very well have shown all of this but the White House was the only body to see it. It wouldn't have been shared with Congress because they supposedly run their own investigation, outside the original nominating investigation.
We know Trump thinks these kinds of attacks on women are no big deal. Trump may have known all about it and just gone ahead anyway because 'What's the big deal about a few rape-y incidents? He didn't even succeed!" I hope Kavanaugh has to withdraw and Trump finally strokes himself into a vegetative state and then put in a hospital where he is routinely tortured for the rest of his sorry life.

R468, your premise is flawed: the BI that the Bureau produces for the White House is the same BI that is sent up to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The FBI Background Unit keeps the original BI and sends a copy to the White House. That is the same copy that is then delivered to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where it remains until the nomination process is complete.
It is not surprising that the allegations were not in one of the six prior BIs. They really only interview a closed circle of people. If the agents hear anything from those folks that needs clarification, they will then expand that circle.

"What’s the rush with Kavanaugh you say? Why not investigate? Here is why: So it is now very clear why the GOP is so desperate to get Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court by next month that they would schedule a vote before hearing from Dr. Ford or any other witness that comes forward. BIG STAKES HERE... if you check out SCOTUSblog, you will see that on next month's docket is: Gamble v. U.S., No. 17-646. Issue(s): Whether the Supreme Court should overrule the "separate sovereigns" exception to the double jeopardy clause. They are desperate. The plan was to appoint Kavanaugh early this week so that he would be seated in time for this ruling. It was in the bag. Saves everyone involved from state charges. Not only Trump but all políticos who were knowingly enriched by the $$$ funneled through the NRA into the coffers of McConnell, Graham, Rubio, Ryan, etc. So if Kavanaugh gets appointed he’d effectively vote to stop states from charging Trump or anyone else involved. Obstruction of justice."'

R543 Oh no!
by Anonymous | reply 544 | September 28, 2018 4:42 PM |
Quit being so scared of everything.
It’s not illegal to hire a private investigator or a investigative media production group.
Repugs do it all the time.
If someone would just start the gofundme then we could all donate and get this going TODAY!
Or else quit bitichig about it if you’re not gonong to lift a finger.
by Anonymous | reply 545 | September 28, 2018 4:46 PM |
I think they have too much power to be stopped now.
by Anonymous | reply 546 | September 28, 2018 4:47 PM |
R545 who said anything about fear? And it's funny you're making those comments, then why haven't you started it?
by Anonymous | reply 547 | September 28, 2018 4:49 PM |
I’m not the one constantly going on about it but I will donate generously.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | September 28, 2018 4:51 PM |
So many flaws in R545.
by Anonymous | reply 549 | September 28, 2018 4:51 PM |
I keep thinking I'm going to wake up from this nightmare.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | September 28, 2018 4:55 PM |
Here is the link for any enterprising journalist who might want to start a fund for this.
Looks pretty easy peasy
by Anonymous | reply 551 | September 28, 2018 4:56 PM |
R551, there's a lot more to it than just starting the fund. Who would you hire and why would we trust that the money would be used for investigating Graham? Fucking Jill Stein took me for $50, so I'm skeptical.
by Anonymous | reply 552 | September 28, 2018 5:00 PM |
Nobody has been "constantly going on about it."
by Anonymous | reply 553 | September 28, 2018 5:01 PM |
Youre the one saying someone should do it and then bitching that people should get off their asses and do something.. but you havent.
So.
by Anonymous | reply 554 | September 28, 2018 5:02 PM |
Exactly, R552. It can't just be some rando that starts up the fund.
Curious R552 have you or has anyone looked into a lawsuit against Stein for how she used that money? I didn't contribute to her so I don't know what's been done with regard to that.
by Anonymous | reply 555 | September 28, 2018 5:05 PM |
Just watched that clip of Hillary and to think that is what we could have had.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | September 28, 2018 5:11 PM |
Now that creep Stone is trying to setup a narrative that he might be "framed" in the Mueller investigation.
by Anonymous | reply 557 | September 28, 2018 5:12 PM |
Why is he even talking about it, R557?
Is an indictment about to come out?
by Anonymous | reply 558 | September 28, 2018 5:14 PM |
And to answer who else we want added on the list:
Chaffetz
Pence
Miller

Ivanka
Jared
Jr.
KAC

I really am stunned at how much they keep getting away wit.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | September 28, 2018 5:18 PM |
I was hoping Aveantti would have his client try to press charges before today's hearing.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | September 28, 2018 5:20 PM |
I am, too. I’m afraid they are going to get away with everything. I’m beyond angry
by Anonymous | reply 563 | September 28, 2018 5:21 PM |
I like how Avenatti goes after their lies.

Oh I'm adding Stein and Sanders - three of them to the list.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | September 28, 2018 5:26 PM |
Let's throw in Cruz and Rubio.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | September 28, 2018 5:27 PM |
It feels more like the Republican Party is playing 3D chess while the democrats are playing checkers.
by Anonymous | reply 571 | September 28, 2018 5:27 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 572 | September 28, 2018 5:28 PM |
The republican't party doesn't even have 3D faces.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | September 28, 2018 5:28 PM |
R571 no.
Republicans are playing checkers and the Democrats have just gone home.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | September 28, 2018 5:29 PM |
Why do Republicans have such awful skin?
by Anonymous | reply 575 | September 28, 2018 5:29 PM |
Ted Cruz's face also makes me physically ill.
by Anonymous | reply 576 | September 28, 2018 5:30 PM |
Democrats have gone home because they've just given up.

You then hire professional investigators with the fund.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | September 28, 2018 5:31 PM |
No, Rethugs are too busy playing Durak.
by Anonymous | reply 580 | September 28, 2018 5:34 PM |

Oh look.. he's a lying liar. Shocked!
Kyle Griffin: Kavanaugh repeatedly said he was legally allowed to consume beer as a prep school senior in Maryland.
In fact, he was never legal in high school because Maryland's drinking age increased to 21 at the end of his junior year, while he was still 17, AP says.

[quote] Why is he even talking about it, [R557]?
[quote] Is an indictment about to come out?
He's controlling the narrative so the Deplorables believe that poor Stone is indeed framed by those Nazi Liberals when he's getting indicted. When he doesn't get indicted it's beause he stood his ground and is a brave hero who stood up to those Nazi Liberals. Win-Win!
by Anonymous | reply 585 | September 28, 2018 5:56 PM |
Yes, R585 but is he doing it now because he knows one is about to come down on him?
by Anonymous | reply 586 | September 28, 2018 5:58 PM |
r586, he's preparing for the possiblity. Future will tell if (and when) is right or not.
