From the article:
As such, Cavill will join Ben Affleck, who isn't expected to reprise his role for director Matt Reeves' forthcoming Batman stand-alone film, as a hero on the way out.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 12, 2018 2:41 PM |
Here's the reason, hidden in the linked story itself:
[quote]"Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors," says a studio source.
Henry will be the new Bond after Daniel Craig's last movie.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 12, 2018 2:41 PM |
[quote]"There's a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn't work," says the studio insider. Another source says Warners is trying to hit a "reset" button with the DC universe, steering its ship slowly into another direction.
Neither Cavill nor Batfleck were the problem with any of the Superman or Justice League movies.
The movies and scripts were just plain terrible and downright silly - Martha!
No one could have or would have been appealing enough to make any of those movies successful.

R14, you don't have to be Laurence Olivier to play Superman. He was perfect fo that specific gig. The direction and script are to blame.

A great, or even a good, actor can elevate a terrible script with charm and charisma. Cavill has no charm and nocharisma which made the lousy script even more obvious. Even CW shows would pass on him because no teenage girl or gay boy would get their pussies wet for him anymore.

[quote]Are you kidding? You could practically see Affleck's man-girdle underneath his batsuit. The guy was too fat for playing Batman! It made the whole thing uncomfortable expecting Batman to keel over and die from all the action he had to endure.
By the Justice League, the point was that Batman was old, broken down, and tired of fighting the good fight (alone).
And even still, that story, script, and direction were abysmal.
I don't think Affleck was a good Batman in any case, but the problem with that movie go well beyond him.

Because Affleck wanted to play Batman, they had to make the character old and broken down in Justice League. They've would have only had to have minor script changes with a younger Batman.
By the time Warners gets their act together on how to get a good Superman film, Cavill will be too old and certainly wouldn't be able to do another sequel after that.

Henry Cavill did well as Superman under Joss Whedon's scenes in Justice League. Joss let him behave more like classic Supes and have some fun rather than the Snyder bullshit. The problem with Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman was Zack Snyder.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 12, 2018 3:43 PM |
Gal Gadot did WW perfectly. In the comics, in every story where they show her entry to "Man's world" she's always supposed to come off naive, eager, and generally childlike. She comes from a technologically primitive paradise after all. I was actually surprised at how well Gadot balanced that with also seeming confident and sure of herself

He could probably have still done it (he's still got the body for it and is relatively young), but I think DC is embarrassed by how badly the last few movies other than Wonder Woman have been received, and they want a clean sweep.
Zack Snyder was just death for this set of movies. His vision of the DC Universe was unpleasantly dark and rooted in the late 1980s & 1990s, no one's favorite period for comics except his. He needs to be forgotten.

Henry Cavill’s Superman is modeled after a 90’s action star. These kids today don’t want to see that shit. DC will probably end up casting some skinny fuck with a pretty face and “emotions.” They’ll focus more on his quiet and introverted Clark Kent side rather than the heroic antics of Superman. He’ll probably be suicidal but can’t die no matter how many attempts he makes. That’s what the youth likes today: seeing their broken selves on screen.

DC just has to course correct.
The Nolan Batmen were IMO a overreaction to the Schumacher Batman excesses. They were so, so serious and dark (of palette at least) and dank looking. MI think that can work for Batman but not for the main DC Universe. Unfortunately DC took that as an indicator that, that is what audiences want for their superhero flicks all the time. No one needed a dark, gritty “real” Superman. They don’t have to go candy and camp but cheer up already.
I think Wonder Woman got the tone exactly right. I left the movie happier than I went in.

Wrong, r81.
Zack Snyder’s vision was rooted in Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies that came immediately before. THE DARK KNIGHT and others were wildly successful, and Warner Brothers saw the dark tone as a “house style” that could be extended to all D.C. characters and distinguish them from Marvel’s.
Nolan even served as a producer in-name on some of the D.C. flicks.
The problem is, Snyder, Roven and Berg don’t have the BRAINS of Christopher Nolan and that cold tone is not right for every character. It gets old, monotonous and oppressive — especially if they don’t come with the literary substance Nolan can provide.

Israel, Deja Vu, The Taking of Pelham 123 remake with John Travolta, Virtuosity with Russell Crowe, 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg . Nolan made very good movies, but they were rooted much more in the Seventies Batman (by Denny O'Neil and Neil Adams, with Ra's al Ghul) than in the 80s and 90s Batman comics of Frank Miller.
Snyder has said multiple times that the most influential comic book on his aesthetic was "the Dark Knight Returns" series by Frank Miller. Thought hat series shared its name with the Nolan films, the Nolan films weren't heavily influenced by them. "Batman v Superman" almost remade the final issue of "The Dark Knight Returns," and it ended Snyder's own weird touches by making Batman a killer; he had already (unbelievably!) made Superman a killer with "Man of Steel," which no one wanted to see.

I want a DC Universe where Superman and Batman are supporting characters. I’d rather see movies about literally any one of their sidekicks/spin-off characters than either of those two ever again. I’d pay money to see movies about Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Batwoman, Catwoman, the Huntress, Supergirl, Power Girl, hell, make a Lois Lane movie, as long as Clark/Kal isn’t in it. My dream is a Legion of Superheroes movie, but WB couldn’t even get the Justice League right, so I’m not holding out hope.

"The problem is, Snyder, Roven and Berg don’t have the BRAINS of Christopher Nolan and that cold tone is not right for every character. "
That's the thing, a grim tone works for Batman, who is barely sane, but it doesn't work for Superman or Wonder Woman. Patty Jenkins got that right, wherever her Wonder Woman went the world got better, and the people near her got better. That was as much as superpower as her strength or lasso of truth, her ability to inspire.
Superman should have been the same, or more so, but no. Those idiots gave us a Superman who'd been dragged down by humanity, not someone who was working to pull humanity up to his level.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | September 12, 2018 6:08 PM |
R134 is exactly right. These characters have decades worth of history. We know what works for them. It's arrogance to try fundamentally changing Superman's character so much to fit Synder's personal taste for dark things.
Had Superman been written like that in 1930s I guarantee you he'd be some no name idol rather than a beloved international character

I worshipped and adored Michael B. Jordan in "Black Panther", but he can't play Superman.
Because he has a receding chin. He usually covers the chin with a little bit of a beard to disguise the problem, but he couldn't do that as Superman. He'd have to have a major chin and jaw reconstruction before they could use him, because you have to shoot Superman in profile some time!

by Anonymous | reply 158 | September 12, 2018 8:01 PM |
Exactly, r134.
In fact, Snyder, et al darkened Batman's character EVEN FURTHER with Superman vs. Batman.
They gave him a voice modulator in the suit that made him sound downright demonic and no human sympathy at all. Batman went from a talkative, upbeat detective to a scary, silent hellspawn doing evil shit.
And people shouldn't attribute the dark tones to Nolan alone.
Film Noir has been the house style at Warner Brothers since its beginning -- going all the way back to James Cagney, Edward G. Robinson and Humphrey Bogart. It's always been about dark crime capers -- that's partly why they let Affleck direct movies like THE TOWN and they discussed letting Affleck direct some D.C.
And the Batman franchise first darkened itself back in the 1980s with Frank Miller's DARK KNIGHT graphic novels, which revolutionized the industry, and Tim Burton's gothicker take on Gotham.
BUT IT TAKES BRAINS AND LITERARY SUBSTANCE TO PULL THAT OFF, which Zach Snyder, Charles Roven and their writers don't have. Hiring Joss Whedon for late-stage tinkering doesn't work.

The only problem with Cavill as Superman wasnt Cavill.....it was Zack Snyder, the writers, and the studios for allowing Snyder to exercise such control. Snyder's vision was about "everything's broken, sad and depressing". People want fantasy hero entertainment where the hero defeats the villain and has his littler After School Special epiphany. Not that bittersweet victory crap setting up the premise that the hero's happy end involves counceling sessions for the emotional scars that've been inflicted upon him throughout the movie.

Well, Cavill's people must look on the bright side: here's a chance for him to be the first actor to play a much beloved character based off a hugely successful fantasy novel and video game series with The Witcher. Lucky for him, the character he's set to play in The Witcher is very dry and macho, who delivers a lot of sarcastic jokes. If Cavill can't pull that off, then he truly is a one-note actor.

"Wonder Woman" was a success because Patty Jenkins realized the DC zeitgeist of grim despair just didn't work for that character. So she had WW enter humanity during a period of grim despair... and make everything better. That's what sane people want to see! Someone who not only brings out goodness in flawed weak human beings, but who doesn't give into hate and despair when things are at their worst.
And that's how Superman should be, he's not a human and goddammit he should be better than humans! Sure, the grim despair zeitgeist can work for Batman, who is one fucked-up human being, but he's probably the only superhero who can go that dark successfully.

I disagree, i thought Cavill had charisma/charm in The Man From Uncle and we got a glimpse of it (sadly) in the Justice League movie. Hoechlin did come off as stunted at times in Teen Wolf, but so was everyone else on that show.

Hoechlin would be good in many things, just not as Superman. I wouldn't mind seeing his Teen Wolf co-star, Dylan O'Brien, as Iceman instead of Ashmore.
I see Hoechlin more as an officer in some Star Trek series - like one of the new ones they've announced. Frankly, Cavill would also do well as a military officer like in Trek where that stiffness would actually make sense.

Superman (along with Wolverine and Wonder Woman) is one of the superheroes whose look has changed little in comic books. The image of Superman is indelible to many. What exactly is a "good thing" about NOT fitting the traditional image? There is a huge difference between subverting expectations and merely failing to meet them.
These days, "subverting expectations" is wholly overused primarily by people who believe it's synonymous with outlandish plot twists or out-of-character and/or perverse behavior.
However, truly subverting expectations requires a three step process by which the baseline is established, the subversion is introduced, and finally the punchline is executed. Buffy the Vampire subverts expectations. A black Superman does not.

From a commercial point of view it does make sense though. The comic book fans have all these established and classic movie and TV adaptions they can buy and watch over and over again already. Now it's time for the market that wants to see a black man to play Superman. I mean, hello Black Panther! Big commercial success.
Of course the old fans will be butthurt because that particular franchise is no longer courting them.

[quote]Now it's time for the market that wants to see a black man to play Superman. I mean, hello Black Panther! Big commercial success.
Black Panther has always been a black man. The fact that it was successful had nothing to do with his being black - and point of fact, while it did very well in the US, it didn't do nearly as well internationally.
Why do people continue to argue about people being "butthurt" - What Black Panther actually proves is that to be a commercial success in the +$800 million range, you need fans who are willing to see the movie multiple times. Who else but the fanboys are going to see it 3 or 4 times? You may get a lot of folks to see a movie once, but that won't translate into big money box office.

Sorry. As a black person, I do not want to see a black Superman (especially if he's played by Michael "No-Chin-Having" Jordan!) Didn't studios learn anything about casting him as the Human Torch in that Fantastic Four fiasco?!
Most black comic book fans like faithful adaptations of the iconic superheroes they grew up watching and reading, so certainly I'm not the only one who feels this way. I can see if we're talking about a new origin story the way they're doing the black Spider-Man. But having a black actor as Clark Kent smacks of liberal tokenism.

If the "black community" (I love how you use that phrase as if all black moviegoers are monolithic) didn't fall for it when Michael B. Jordan was cast as the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four reboot, what makes you think that they will come out to see him as Superman when he'll be painfully miscast? (He being black will be the least of his problems. He simply doesn't have the charisma and sex appeal to play Clark Kent/Superman.)
There are no black moviegoers out there crying out for a black Superman. In fact, many prefer for more black superheroes that already exist to have their very own movies.

Yeah I’m not seeing these hordes crying out for a black Superman either.
If DC did black Superman you’d probably have people accusing them of just trying to cash in on Black Panther and then turning into a VS situation instead a PLUS situation. Then long term fans and the general public who see Superman in his traditional form won’t be happy (understatement) and the people who are supposedly being reached out to might not care or become antagonistic. So no one wins.

by Anonymous | reply 248 | September 13, 2018 6:53 PM |
DCWB doesn't understand WHY Black Panther was such a success. They just think shoving a muscular black man into an iconic role will be a surefire hit because they don't understand, or care, what truly makes T'Challa and Wakanda so engrossing.
They could have taken their Cyborg character to greater heights, with at big part in Flaspoint and at least a solo film but you can tell by how they've already trapped all over that character, they never thought that far ahead. And, that's a waste.
by Anonymous | reply 249 | September 13, 2018 6:53 PM |
Part of the reason AWIT flopped was that they threw out the story as people knew it, changed races, plot points, motivations.
The source matierial was ignored and considered low value by the filmmakers and they decided to insert their views and desires into someone’s elses story with no subtlety and little respect for the source matierial. It was arrogant and short sighted and they paid for it.

Ridiculous and idiotic to argue to the failure of the Fantastic 4 remake was due to a black human torch. That was just a bad movie.
The idea of a black Superman would work IF they did it as a complete alternate universe take. Not a boy in Smallville Kansas, maybe a kid from a more urban place. It could actually be a cool speculative work to see how and if Superman would be different if he was black and found by a black family. Would the US, fresh off the civil rights debates react to him differently? That could be fun
But I don't support keeping the same origin we have now, changing the skin color, and acting like that's the norm now

You must don't remember the huge backlash the movie received due to casting Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch? His casting, on top of it being a bad movie, is what made it one of the biggest flops that year.
But I agree that a black Superman would only work if it was in an alternative universe and/or a different origin story, a la black Spider-Man.

by Anonymous | reply 267 | September 14, 2018 6:50 PM |
As someone pointed out on another forum, Batman can be played by just about anyone of any race. His iconic look is about the cape and the hood, put any fit man with a good jawline into the batsuit, and he looks like Batman!
But Superman's iconic look is more physical than the costume, even when he's not wearing the blue leotard he's still got to be this tall, muscular, blue-eyed, dark-haired, strong-jawed man. Change any of that and he no longer looks like Superman, even if you find a tall, muscular, blue-eyed, strong-jawed blond man who can play him, you'd better dye his hair because he won't look like Superman unless he's got dark hair. And the same goes for skin color. Change that, and he no longer looks like Superman.

R269, if I wanted to cast a black actor as Batman, I'd show the unavoidable flashback to his parents' murder, and I'd cast Wayne Senior as a preppy-type white guy, and Mrs. Wayne as a beautiful black woman. Same for any actor who isn't bone-white, because skin color doesn't define Batman, money and psychology does.
The same doesn't apply to Superman. He looks like Chris Reeve, Henry Cavill, or Matt Bomer. Very little variation is allowable.

I don't know what contradiction you're referring to, but I remember the backlash. I remember when IMDb still had its user forum where all the commentators stating vehemently that they wouldn't go see the movie due to Michael B. Jordan's casting as the Human Torch. I remember all the comic book and video game forums where pretty much 90% of the comments were pissed off because of his casting. So I don't know what contradiction you're talking about, because as I said, his casting--which already began the backlash for the movie before its release--as well as the movie being terrible is what made it a flop.
Luckily, Michael B. Jordan had Ryan Coogler in his corner, because if it wasn't for Creed, and later Black Panther, his film career as a leading man would've been certainly over.

R283 on CDAN Cavill is into teenage girls, on blindgossip he is a lazy actor who pretends he did all his stunts when he did not. Depends if those blinds are posted by his team or the studios, but the most important information : he is SO NOT gay! That's the narrative...
by Anonymous | reply 284 | September 15, 2018 5:36 AM |
Ok, so Frau here. I have to say, the blinds about him being a pedo are starting to make me wonder...though I find it odd that there are no receipts. And I’ve noticed of late that chatter of these proclivities (I.e. underage girls) are poping up in the comments of any article about him. And coupled with the unfortunate Me Too comments....it’s a very bad look. Surely his people can’t think this is preferable to him being gay??!!!
As a straight woman...if he’s gay, sure ya, bummer but whatever I can deal with that. But if he’s truly some gross pedophile he needs to be cancelled.

I'm a gay man (shock horror) and I have fucked many, many str8 men over the years. Super hot ones too if you must know. (and you MUST know). Most of those str8 men are just that: str8. They just are. Not bi. Not closeted fags living in denial. Fundamentally str8. Sometimes, genuinely str8 men crave cock. So they go and get some. And then they get back to the pussy grabbing. It's a bitter pill for some gay men to swallow (...), but not all men are gay. Even the ones who sometimes go for the cock.

Sofia, why the animosity. I don’t believe I ever said he wasn’t gay...I too have seen the old pictures and believe that the “girlfriends” have been fake, etc. I’m not in denial. I’m merely saying, the whole pedophile narrative that is coming up with him more and more is a very bad look. I’m saying gay Henry is very much preferable to creepy guy who sleeps with undeage Chinese girls. Can we at least agree on that?

Even worse, is that someone could believe that WB or his very own team would put out gossip that would damage his reputation. R291 I am one of those fucked up people with unhealthy fixations on celebrities (and I'm not the only one in this thread, otherwise it would be empty), Cavill was supposed to help take my mind away from another messed up actor, big mistake! Anyway some receipts : every single relationship/bearding is announced and promoted first in blinds, just to create the buzz. Last summer we had the stuntwoman blinds a couple a month before the first public outing. Who outside his people would have any interest in making that info public? We had the first "lazy actor who do not do his own stunt" blinds on blindgossip last year who mysteriously disappeared before being publish again during the promo! The first blind had the word "work ethic" (because apparently professionalism is too complicated to spell) and guess who is a big fan of buzzwords? Dany Garcia! who used that very word in one her "I do inspirational quotes and then post them on IG because my ego is the size of Florida!" I guess the herpes II blinds are here to convince people to stop hitting on him? They're old but we sometime get a reminder on CDAN, if it's their purpose, they're useless, like the singer in the last Graham Norton show who told Cavill in front of everybody that she is ovulating... I think the "he likes them young" started as a way to kill the gay rumors, but it's about to bite them in the ass if they are going for younger.

Consider him hanging with Corey as being an acknowledgement for the all community. He put his foot in his mouth when he talked about #oscarsowhite or #metoo, what can you expect from the guy?
by Anonymous | reply 358 | September 27, 2018 5:24 AM |
I'm not a fan of anybody, I don't follow artists; I just naturally find Henry Cavill exceptionally attractive like most people, he obviously stands out because of his genetic superiority (if we can call it that...) in terms of attractiveness and I think this is literally the very reason why he is popular and not so much because of his acting skills. Gays tend to exalt the beauty of men and seem to have an influence in raising artists to popularity but I have never seen him address or being playful with his gay fans which obviously are a huge number. I’m all for colorblind casting, but Superman is not black. You cannot just cast a black actor as Superman and say “Oh, he’s black now.” How insulting to black people, like their whole identity is just a different tint and nothing more.
The Last Son of Krypton just happens to be black, okay, but are the Kents black? Did this black Kal-El just fall from the sky into the laps of (the only?) two black farmers in Kansas? Or did still-white Ma and Pa Kent “adopt” young Clark from “the inner city?” And that’s not going to change his story, being a black kid growing up in Kansas?
Or are we really going to shake things up and make the whole thing “blackish,” and move the Kents to, I don’t know, Harlem? And do a whole “Black Clark Kent growing up in the big city” (Bigville?) thing?
Is this still Superman? Or is it more like the Wiz? At a certain point it becomes a whole new character, and I don’t think it improves at all.
by Anonymous | reply 361 | September 28, 2018 2:15 AM |
Similarly Tyler Hoechlin does not fit the role.
by Anonymous | reply 362 | September 28, 2018 2:22 AM |
[quote]The Last Son of Krypton just happens to be black, okay,
Yes, I hope we can both agree that a Kryptonian being black or white makes no difference. I mean it is already silly that this alien race looks identical to humans, there is no logical argument for why their skin color has to be a certain way.
[quote]Did this black Kal-El just fall from the sky into the laps of (the only?) two black farmers in Kansas? Or did still-white Ma and Pa Kent “adopt” young Clark from “the inner city?”
You lose me when you start throwing out terms like inner city, White couples adopt black kids all the time. There would be nothing unusual about it.
[quote]And that’s not going to change his story, being a black kid growing up in Kansas?
I'm sure his backstory will still be about being a god-like alien who just wanted to try to hide and be a normal Kansas teen. His skin color being different than most of his peers pales in comparison to him being able to fly through a mountain.
[quote]Is this still Superman?
I'm really not advocating changing his skin color honestly, but I do think Superman is a character in which it doesn't matter.
by Anonymous | reply 363 | September 28, 2018 2:30 AM |
I had no idea there would be a black Superman. The idea of being incluive perhap is taking extreme levels. I as a homosexual guy have no need for a gay Superman. Not hving a gay Superman does not being exclusion.
by Anonymous | reply 364 | September 28, 2018 2:39 AM |
Zack and Co. hired a guy that looked like he fell off the pages of Action Comics No. 1, and adapted Superman: Earth One for Man of Steel. And people lost their fucking minds because it was an iteration of the character that didn't have corny one liners and him saving cats from trees. Do you honestly think that WB is going to deviate even further and make Superman black? It ain't going to happen. WB/DC is dealing with enough backlash from the race change casting of Starfire and most recently, Black Canary for Birds of Prey.
by Anonymous | reply 365 | September 28, 2018 3:42 AM |
R359 the only genetic part in his "beauty" is his face, the rest was built for the big screen. You should read the 20 threads in the archive of DL. He is a studio's puppet, they'd rather died that let their property have "is he gay?" rumors, so there is no room for addressing gay fans, they're too busy dealing with geek fans anyway.
I would bet money it's Warner Bros or Henry's management who added the black superman idea to "create buzz", because they needed a reaction from the fans, so they baited bullshit, as usual. Because there is nothing as genuine as triggered racists apparently! They got the reaction they wanted, they now know the fans wants to keep Henry, it doesn't change the fact they have no project for a Superman movie. That's how they consider fans, a bunch of morons they can manipulate at will, are you sure you want Henry to address his gay fans?
Even if the gay community is large in number, the studios will always choose to cater for the conservative part of the population, who outnumber the gay community.

[quote]Black Panther has always been a black man. The fact that it was successful had nothing to do with his being black - and point of fact, while it did very well in the US, it didn't do nearly as well internationally.
Evidently, you pulled that out of your ass to attempt to support your argument. As R292 posted, per Box Office Mojo, BLACK PANKER made $700 million (52% of its total gross) domestically and $646 million (48%) in the foreign market. And saying that such a ratio is “not that great” (R293) is more bullshit.
[quote]What Black Panther actually proves is that to be a commercial success in the +$800 million range, you need fans who are willing to see the movie multiple times.
No shit. That is the case for the vast majority of Hollywood blockbusters: Repeat viewings.

I agree with R375 It's very weird how little Henry tries to flaunt his sex appeal when not acting in a roll. Nothing on IG, or in interviews, or anything. It's almost like he doesn't enjoy being a sex symbol at all.
R374 Man of Steel and BvS were both huge box office successes. all of them over 600 million worldwide which is well over budget plus advertising. They were just failures when it came to quality, and they made far less than Marvel movies. Its part of why it took years to fire Snyder, for all the embarrassment, he was still making them money

Superman is measured and temperate. The character is not intended to be sexy, especially not with Zack's Messianic symbolism. Meanwhile, Superman/Clark smiled at the fisherman on the boat, at the waitress in the diner, smiled throughout his first flight, smiled at Martha Kent upon returning home, smiled at Lois while in the interrogation room, even smiled upon meeting Faora-Ul, smiled after saving Lois from the pod crash, smiled again while with Martha Kent, smiled at Gen. Swannick and smiled at the Daily Planet in the last frame of the film.

Oh yes R464 Good point. However I'd add that Snyder had nothing to do with that one and I think it shows. I just wish Henry had a shot at the role under someone with better vision for the franchise. He could have been great

The cast for his new series, The Witcher, is very low end. I thought there would be more prestige actors or names in there. But after Cavill, the most known actor is MyAnna Buring (who did voice acting for one of the game’s DLC).

This will be the next Game a’ Throooooones!
by Anonymous | reply 468 | October 11, 2018 2:45 PM |
He should be cast as live action Sterling Archer. I'd pay to see that in a heartbeat
by Anonymous | reply 469 | October 11, 2018 8:01 PM |
I’ve read others make that casting suggestion. I would also pay to see that.

This project was never going to be a "prestige" project. I thought it was funny that delusional fanboys thought otherwise.
Just give me Cavill butt Netflix, I promise I will watch it no matter how terrible if you deliver that.
by Anonymous | reply 475 | October 13, 2018 4:40 PM |
Cavill sometimes looks like Matt Bomer...don’t know how.

R476 Yeah....weird that.

Looks more like Jamie Dormat I say.
by Anonymous | reply 479 | October 13, 2018 5:50 PM |
Nah, Jamie is more the “cute” type. Henry has more masculine features.

Ok, I like Tyler H. but he’s more for the small screen, imo.
I remember that he wanted to audition for Bond, but then he said that they wanted a British actor lol.
by Anonymous | reply 505 | October 18, 2018 2:56 PM |
He auditioned for Batman too when they were casting for BvS. I think he dodged a bullet.
by Anonymous | reply 506 | October 18, 2018 2:58 PM |
R506 Agreed with that one. Batman is not for him. Let’s see if this supposed Superman series is a go.
by Anonymous | reply 507 | October 18, 2018 3:03 PM |
R507 I guess it'll depend on how his chemistry is with Lois. But i'm still not really sure why they'd bother making one when they basically turned Kara into a female Superman.
by Anonymous | reply 508 | October 18, 2018 3:09 PM |
R508 So who is in talks to play Lois?
by Anonymous | reply 509 | October 18, 2018 3:22 PM |
I don't think it will work. Kara is way more relatable than Kal, it's her whole point.
by Anonymous | reply 511 | October 18, 2018 3:30 PM |
How is she more relatable?
by Anonymous | reply 512 | October 18, 2018 3:32 PM |
R512 Think of her like Veronica Mars.
by Anonymous | reply 513 | October 18, 2018 3:41 PM |
R513 Did not expect that comparison. It's funny because Clark is usually the more relatable one and Kara can be an ice queen. Maybe that's the direction they'll go in with the Supergirl movie.
by Anonymous | reply 514 | October 18, 2018 3:47 PM |
Kal grew up with super powers and acts like a high and mighty figure.
Kara is what you or I would be like if we just woke up with super powers one day, like she did

R504 I don't like the way the cape is attached to his costume, it's suppose to be like a Roman centurion? The worst was Brandon Routh's supe, with the cape "tuck in" his collar, just ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 518 | October 18, 2018 5:34 PM |
R519 Both Henry and Tyler have nice butts.
by Anonymous | reply 521 | October 18, 2018 5:50 PM |
R521 Tyler just a bit more ha.

R522 Henry's is bigger though.
by Anonymous | reply 523 | October 18, 2018 5:56 PM |
R520 it looks cheap compare to the JL version, but it's not an official picture, with some fancy lights etc... (still don't like the way the cape is attached to the costume)
by Anonymous | reply 524 | October 18, 2018 6:12 PM |
R524 Most of them do. But i think Batwoman's is one of the worst.

Hoechlin cannot compete with Henry Cavill. He's hot but Henry Cavill has the ideal alpha male look: big and dense muscles, intimidating appearance and lots of sex appeal.

R544 Yea, man. Exactly...sometimes I could see a bit of a difference there...like maybe more than two facial lines moving...but in other scenes..meh. He was better in Everybody wants Some.
R546 Ok, that’s a bit over the top hahahaha. Whatever, I don’t judge.

Physicality was fine, but line delivery needed work. Though I wouldn't expect emmy award winning acting on an mtv show. I think he's probably similar in real life to the character he played in EWS (anger issues aside).

It's difficult to understand why a woman would want to alter her body to look like a man, especially when not suffering from gender dysphoria. I guess some women had very strong male models in their lives and they want to embody that they admire, even if it makes them look like men.

I forgot how sexual and “nasty” Henry Cavill can play.
He was very sensual on the Tudors and he was in one of the straight to video Hellraiser sequels where he plays a total asshole. I remember a scene where he’s berating his girlfriend over the phone while getting fellated by a party skank. Something like that anyway.
