Frauen here. I can see how some women get sucked into these, particularly if they buy “the dream” of making more than their present job and staying with the kids.

I’m divorced and make a good income, some travel, but otherwise work from home. I signed up with one (not one mentioned in these threads) simply because it was something I was buying anyway, good product, and I felt that using a couple hours when kids were with their dad to earn extra income was productive. Didn’t have to carry any inventory and purchases shipped directly from company to customer.

The woman who I signed up under was super-cool. I told her straight up that I didn’t “need” this and it would be a side thing when I had the time, but if I could earn a few hundred extra dollars a month for 2-4 hours of work....right?

Started out that way, but then you are “encouraged” to join conference calls, local team meetings, regional/national meetings..... I do this enough with my real job, so no. Post on your SM. Again, no....I’m not doing that to my friends/family. Created a separate FB biz-only site and invited folks; up to them to join or not. Even there, only used to invite to established bookings, product updates (it was seasonal).

Eventually, you run out of genuinely interested folks who want to host parties. If I booked one at each event I was happy....turned out they wanted 3 and would start charging you for (your link to company’s) website, etc... I figured out if I did the bare minimum this would cascade into something that would begin to encroach time the kids were with me (remember, this started out as my side-gig for a bit of extra cash when I didn’t have kids).

Another frustration was when an event or order was cancelled or rescheduled by a host. Not with them, but the time/paperwork because it shipped direct. Then the pressure to get it back on the books - life happens: parent with cancer diagnosis, new job and relocation, etc...

When I was done (for the record, less than one year) I got the Hail Mary of being told how much income I was walking away from if I could reach the level of my recruiter (again, was never my goal).....let’s just say it was far less than the SM projects or I presently make.

Was funny to me. My point is she was earning great coin compared to most.....but it was much less $$ or forgiving than my “corporate” job that pays for all biz expenses, I travel only when necessary, etc... Granted, I’ve been doing this (my real job) for decades....but I do see how a young mom gets sucked in.
