Not to be morbid but I still often think and wonder about Michael Mantenuto’s mysterious suicide.

He was an actor in an acclaimed sport biopic (MIRACLE, about Lake Placid) and later a Green Beret who was said to have been Speci al O ps and battling depression all the while. He coached kids’ hockey and was a beloved figure in his Boston community. He shot himself in a parking lot in Mass., sitting in his Jeep. Cops never published his suicide note so no one knows why he killed himself.

He was talented, well-liked and pretty and wasn’t even 40. A terrible loss.
