by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 5, 2018 4:18 PM |
I know someone who knows Andy Spade, and he had told this person a few years ago that he and Kate were getting a divorce. But then they kept showing up in society rags and party photos, so I assumed it was nonsense. I have met Andy Spade in the past, in more of a professional manner, and I can't put a finger on why, but this news doesn't surprise me.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 5, 2018 4:18 PM |
She and her husband were still together? For some reason I thought they divorced, but I’m mixing her up with Tory Burch.

R18, I am a thrift shopper and see her stuff somewhat regularly. It’s not my cup of tea.
I will say that it’s a pretty “safe” line, like Tory Burch and J. Crew. Nothing slutty, work-appropriate, overpriced. Very basic prep-wear.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 5, 2018 4:33 PM |

[quote]Isn't anyone who commits suicide terminally ill?
No, actually most people who commit suicide do not have a physical ailment that will result in their death. Most people commit suicide out of depression or anxiety.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 5, 2018 4:37 PM |
According to reports, her housekeeper found her. At least it wasn’t the daughter. Thank dog the daughter didn’t have to see that.

by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 5, 2018 4:38 PM |
Depression is a bitch.. it robs your life, if not by suicide, by also taking all your joy away, feeling like a zombie... numb.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 5, 2018 4:39 PM |
I've been depressed and thought of suicide. So I am somewhat sympathetic. But I never had a child. It seems selfish to put that on a 12 year old.

Her brand's accessories line at Neiman Marcus - here's a Crab Pouf keychain. Maybe she was concerned about the direction her namesake took.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 5, 2018 4:42 PM |
I dont buy handbags, but her designs seemed fusty and old-ladyish. I was genuinely surprised that women under 60 buy her stuff. It seemed like the kind of things that Jackie Kennedy would favor, along with white gloves.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 5, 2018 4:42 PM |
r42 I have also been depressed and thought of suicide (although I don't have kids). In the moment that someone actually carries through with the act, they feel they have no other way. Most likely she thought that she was doing her daughter a favor.
They say the worst time to commit suicide is when you feel suicidal, because the suicidal mind desorts reality so adeptly.

R24 I did not know about the 12 year old. So she made the choice to have a child at 43 but then commit suicide at 55? It just doesn't make sense. Then again, neither does mental illness I guess.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | June 5, 2018 4:44 PM |
R42, thats the point: depression leads to irrational thinking. She probably was so depressed she thought she was doing her daughter a favor.
I suffer from depression too. It's an awful condition. And one I have to keep watchful eye on all the time. Drugs, exercise and diet. And if any of those are out of kilter, it comes back and doom and gloom steps in.
RIP.

What was the trigger? Like L’Wren did she discover her spouse/partner was seeing someone else? Something very door-matty about her? Her stuff was a nice “good girl” counterpoint to the whore-wear of the late 1990s and aughts. Her own look was sort of B52s meets Serial Mom. That biz and life in upper class NY is competitive, she didn’t have that hard core like Tory.

r96 there are a couple theories. One is that increased sunlight can increase aggression, including aggression toward self. Another is that people who are depressed in winter lack the energy to carry out their plans. Increased sunlight = increased energy.
It's most likely related to the longer days. January/February tend to see the fewest number of suicides, IIRC.
This trend -- suicides peaking in May -- has been observed for centuries. Counterintuitive, isn't it?

by Anonymous | reply 110 | June 5, 2018 5:25 PM |
R102... It sure is. Supposedly, during the winter with less sun and darker days, a good light lamp is supposed to help you feel better. Maybe, when the weather gets nice and the sun is out longer, you see more people out and about and enjoying themselves... which could be a stark contrast to your life, which could make you feel worse.

R11, do you have anything else you can share about Andy Spade and the couple? I always thought he was cute and cool and liked his style —both of theirs, really. Kate did the polished country club casual thing really well. Andy’s sleepwear brand was more sexy, but wholesome sexy. He was the cofounder and he’s done a lot of creative director work.
Kate and Andy haven’t had anything to do with the Kate Spade brand in years. In fact, she even changed her name, probably to distance herself from it and reestablish the new brand, Frances Valentine. (The KS brand has really gone off the rails and much of it became grotesquely cutesy. Their VP/creative director Deborah Lloyd recently left. I don’t know if the cutesy thing is her fault or she was resisting it and decided to leave.

r154 it may perhaps increase the hopelessness. I am poor-ish as an adult (full disclosure: I grew up upper middle class) and often depressed about money. But I can fantasize: if I had X amount of money, my depression would disappear." It's escapism.
Well, what if I did have X amount of money and was still depressed? Then what? What financial fantasy could I indulge to momentarily chase away my depression?

This death stings a bit. I was in college and used to love the photographs in her ad campaigns. The people in the ads and the atmosphere was everything I aspired to have. It was a bright but sophisticated fantasy. The artwork above the fireplace is a little spooky, the black void. Certainly not something I would want to look at everyday as person with depression.

I'll got out on a limb and guess intransigent depression that wasnt responding to medication anymore. She left the business completely several years ago, ostensibly to 'raise her daughter'. She may have been having issues for some time.
She was found mid-morning by her housekeeper - where were her husband and daughter? There's a bit more to this than we know.

My doctor once told me that no one is more cruel than a teenage girl to her mother, who is usually beset by post menopausal (the change) issues, like screaming "You're OLD and UGLY and I HATE you and want to live with gay Daddy and his celebrity boyfriend."
The video linked above at R33 seemed like the daughter was a controlling brat. R132 and R141 I agree with you
by Anonymous | reply 183 | June 5, 2018 6:22 PM |
R177, I’m not BLAMING him, but the video at r33, he can barely contain his contempt for her. And for an event that was about ‘their’ line, he had to plug HIS. I think he was in her shadow ALWAYS and harbored resentment and made her pay privately.
Not many men will take a seat beside, let alone a back seat to a successful woman.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | June 5, 2018 6:24 PM |
I seriously financial problems drove her to it, if a sane woman with a young child had a huge financial reversal she'd still do her damndest to carry on. And it sounds like she'd made so much money in the last few decades that the worst that could happen financially is that she wouldn't be able to afford a private jet or apartments in all the world cities. If it really was suicide, then depression is the likeliest cause, it can strike anyone and doesn't always respond to treatment, and frankly it'd be made worse by the shallow mindset of the fashion world, where youth and thinness are everything.
But really, the police should look very carefully for signs of murder, if there really was a divorce coming up. Widows have it a hell of a lot easier than ex-spouses.

R168, your doctor is right. When Alec Baldwin chewed his daughter out and called her a “rude thoughtless pig”, I didn’t think it was that terrible. There is nothing worse than a teenage girl. I know because I WAS one.

Shady quotes from the article posted by r140, with translation:
[quote] When we arrived, he and his wife, Kate, were in spirits that are uncommonly good for a Thursday afternoon—a side effect of a birthday celebration from earlier in the day.... Over a Corona and a cigarette, [Andy] Spade shared some insight into his home, art collecting, and life in general."
Translation: "When we arrived, the couple was soused, and it was barely 3 p.m. They blamed a birthday party. He continued to drink. He's also a smoker."
[quote]As soon as you walk through the door, you're slammed (in the best way) by an entryway covered in frames, tacked-up papers, and photos.
Translation: "The entryway was a cluttered mess. (In the best way.)"
[quote]The long corridor off to the side is covered in art as well, but in a different way. It’s more uniform, as opposed to the more haphazard salon walls in the entryway. One isn’t necessarily better than the other; it’s just a matter of preference.
Translation: "The hallway is also cluttered, but not like the entryway."
[quote]There’s plenty to look at, but in the living room the immediate focus is on a large Richard Serra painting that hangs over the fireplace.
Translation: "Despite the clutter, you can't help but stare at the butthole painting over the fireplace."
[quote]There’s an abundance of everything in the house. That’s not a bad thing in this case—it brings character.
Translation: "Andy is a jerk, but the clutter softens that effect."
[quote]Nearly all the surfaces in the home are covered with books, artifacts, and whatever else the pair have collected over the past twenty or thirty years.
Translation: "There are some hoarder tendencies. A storage unit is not always a bad idea."
[quote]Not really a dining room table until you throw some candlesticks on there. They don’t even have to match. Honestly.
Translation: "Nothing matches, but these people are rich, so it's okay. Honestly."
[quote]If you ever run out of wall space, remember there's always other options. Try an easel, as Spade did with this Lowell Boyers painting.
Translation: "Did I mention the clutter?"
[quote]There are plenty of antiques in this house, no question. But none of it feels old or stodgy. That’s thanks in part to Andy and Kate’s eye for color and shape. A few bright spots will make your place feel new, welcoming, and not boring AF.
Translation: "This place is boring AF. Oh, a bright blue cabinet!"
[quote]A good thing to take from all this, if nothing else: Make sure your house doesn’t stink. Get a candle.
Translation: "It smells like cigarettes and booze in here."

My guess is both heavy boozers. She gives off a low self-esteem vibe - never a full smile, a little awkward. He seems like a sadist. My guess is she stayed with him despite his sadistic personality because of her low self esteem. Sad - I actually feel bad for her. The daughter looks like she took after the sociopath father - so she’ll be ok a la Lisa Marie Presley or Frances Cobain - f**d up but rich enough not to have to deal with it. It ain’t easy being a post-50 woman - or a post-50 gay man.

Kate Spade was a very New York thing if you lived in NY in the 90s. If you walked around Soho you were bound to see the store. Her bags were popular.

So Avicii, Verne Troyer, Scott Hutchison (lead singer of Scottish band Frightened Rabbit) and Kate Spade have all committed suicide in the space of about seven weeks. As did Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington last year. It makes you wonder if families of celebrities are just more open about their loved ones' cause of death nowadays, and this kind of thing was commonplace in the past as well.

The thing with ambitious people is that they never achieve something and sit back to enjoy it. The thing that propels/compels them to achieve in the first place doesn’t go away. A Type B like me is content with less, so we don’t achieve much and if we did, we’d stop at a certain point. It’s not about the money.
That’s why we can’t get rid of Oprah.

She comes across as rather vulnerable and unconfident in her interview @ R33. She seemed obviously upset that her only child that she gave up her job to raise (for 9 years) wasn’t showing her equal affection and didn’t seem to need her anymore (or at least from her PoV).
The husband appeared distant. He kept referring to her in the 3rd person: “Let’s hear what SHE thinks”. Why refer to your life partner, who is sitting right next to you, in the 3rd person?
Perhaps she just felt isolated, lonely and not needed by anyone anymore. So she went back into the fashion business. But her old sold-off company is now often an inside joke (too flowery and saccharine cutesy). And her new fashion line didn’t do too well, maybe?

Pain of/From living is the common denominator. Whether or not she had "alienation of affection" from her daughter, acute depression is what would have drove her to the act. A confession: Until a couple a months ago I was living with chronic/excruciating pain that was only partly managed by the opiate pain relievers I took. I was given very little hope of relief or alternative treatment till I saw my new specialist and it had gotten to the point that I was contemplating suicide. This, despite the fact that I have two young teens (and a partner) and I knew what irrevocable damage it would do to their lives. I simply could not go on. Thank God literally I found my new specialist and he offered me a new diagnosis and treatment. I have surgery in a week.

I have read every posting .. its always the same. NO ONE KNOWS. .......i am so perplexed by her death. R13,R92,R160 I just dont get it. if you have money. i feel you can get yourself out of anything. i had money, i always changed things, got massages, got sex, did something to change my mind set. i am close to her age and make sure i work out everyday. eat really well. but still daily i think of when it might be time to check out. the carbon minoxide thing seems the best. unless you take your roomate with you and their dog by accident like the kid did last week. that would be horrible.and a man dying by a scarf around a door handle would be just too too disgusting. anyway, i figure, (cause it usually is) a money thing. even the Mellon that died in rehab in mexico. , drugs, or avici, alcohol. yes they had money. but they were not thinking clearly . otherwise there is no reason to kill youself if you have money and no reason to be depressed if you have money. lots of it. so kate spade must have been murdered which is what my sister said.

Fashion designer Kate Spade left behind a note telling her daughter that she should not blame herself for her suicide, according to police sources.
The missive was discovered after the handbag maven’s body was found in her Manhattan apartment Tuesday.
Kate Spade’s husband, Andrew, was home when the suicide was discovered, according to an AP report.
The couple’s 13-year-old daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade, was at school, according to the AP. Sources said that, among other things, the letter contained a message to the teenage girl, telling her the suicide was not her fault.
No criminality is suspected, NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said at an unrelated press conference.
“At this point, there was a note left. The contents of that note, as well as the physical state of the apartment and the comments of the witness, lend to the credibility that it is an apparent suicide,” he said.

That she could write a suicide note and kill herself undetected by her husband who was right there inside the home with her might speak volumes about the state of the relationship.

Kate looks very tired and yes, a little bombed on booze or pills in the video at r33. Andy's bitchiest moment in that video, if you ask me, is when he pointed out that he was wearing a pair of jeans that belonged to Kate in college. No middle-aged woman wants the world to know that her skinny, bitchy, likely-gay husband can fit into jeans she probably outgrew 30 years ago.

**If only this affliction would strike the Trump family**
Anyway, very sad for this woman; kids with parents that commit suicide suffer problems the rest of their lives & have a very high rate of suicide themselves. You can only assume that she was incredibly depressed to do such a thing to her only daughter. Even if the kid is/was a snot, they generally grow out of that at some point.

R296 Many people are so deeply closeted and in such denial that they wait till later in life to have a gay relationship. Not everyone is so evolved. Two families I grew up alongside had parents who began gay relationships very late in life; their partners were dumbfounded and quite devastated really. One gal's mum had five children, and was married for nearly forty years or longer... before leaving my friend's father to move in with her new girlfriend of less than two months. It happens more often than people realise.

News via Twitter:
Andy Spade, the husband and business partner of late fashion designer Kate Spade, was looking to purchase a new apartment in New York City in the months prior to his wife’s suicide.
According to our sources, in mid to late 2017, Andy was shopping for a new one or two-bedroom apartment in Manhattan. We’re told he viewed several available properties around the city during that time.
Page Six is reporting that the Spades had a troubled marriage and sources tell The Blast that the couple had been having problems.

Well, no shit, r303, but Kate and Andy Spade were Manhattan fashion designers, not Ma and Pa Kettle from Nebraska. If Andy is indeed gay, there's no way Kate was with him for 35ish years, believing all along that he was straight and attracted to her. At some point, she would have figured it out (or he would have told her) and no way would he just recently have begun fooling around with guys. If he IS gay, my guess is the romantic/sexual part of the relationship ended a zillion years ago (perhaps to Kate's dismay), but they decided being a married couple was good for the brand.

Heavens knows why they got together. He seems contemptuous of her in public appearances. I often wonder in relationships where contempt is evident whether it was always there or if it gradually seeped in. Ive seen dating couples gay and straight where its clear they dont respect each other, yet they think that is 'normal'. Like respect would not be a cornerstone of a commitment of any kind. Wonder if the Spades were like this. They clearly stayed together to maintain the brand.

Almost positive the husband fell in love with a side piece, and wanted out.
Women don’t kill themselves just because they’re depressed. They kill themselves from either having chronic, untreatable, physical pain, or the end of a relationship, in which they do not want to let go of their partner/spouse. Some women fall of the edge if they lose a child unexpectedly, but that’s pretty much it.
If there’s drinking, or drug use, it is usually a coping mechanism for whatever emotional loss the woman is facing. But women do NOT usually kill themselves over money. L’Wren Scott’s primary reason for suicide was that Jagger was done. That obviously was the tipping point, on top of the money woes.
9/10, women commit suicide from loss of a relationship, whereas men do so over loss of status, money, etc.
I’m sure that note is mostly directed at her husband, and part of it to her daughter, absolving the daughter of any responsibility, etc.
If it was over a mistress, she left everything to the daughter, unless she committed suicide on a whim, under the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. But that is highly unlikely, since women are planners by nature, so suicides are usually thought about for many months, before they happen.
This may not have been her first attempt.
I’m sorry for her kid. She will be fucked up for the rest of her life unless she gets really good therapy.

They were just as sophisticated as NY fashion designers, (if not more so) from better families, and with more impressive educations. You are stereotyping closet dwellers. Many a marriage have gone platonic too in time without one partner assuming the other plays for the other team. I don't know why you need to pick at so many of my comments. The "ask daddy" note sounds like she just scribbled it out in a crazed rush. I wonder did she just have an arguement with husband. Apparently he was in the next room (sort of) when she killed herself. I can imagine she was in place of profound distress, unbalanced, frightened, distorted thinking etc.

I think she was a bit too old to deal with adolescent behavior and took it to heart. Also, it seems as if she balked at her partners inference that they shared the same level of input regarding the work/business. In video at R33, she reminds me of a larger, older version of Téa Leoni. She came across as extremely down to earth and honest. RIP

Someone needs to write out the complete instructions for this procedure and post them on under the Help menu, given that death-by-doorknob seems to be trending among suicidal celebrities and no one on DL ever understands how it works. In the meantime, there is some info here:

Upthread someone said that Andy Spade was in the next room to where she committed suicide. Why didn't the maid that found her go into THAT room & notify him? Instead the maid went all the way downstairs to tell the super of he building that she was dead. Why didn't the maid call 911? The Super tried to revive her and couldn't.
My thoughts: Maid spoke Spanish, no one in the apartment spoke Spanish? Also, Latinos know to call 911. Why didn't she?

If you're going to hang yourself from a doorknob, you have but two possibilities for a suicide note: "Do Not Disturb" or "Maid Please Make Up Room." Based upon who discovered the body, it's obvious the late Mrs. Spade chose the latter. Elementary, my dears.

Someone said people like this do not spend time in the living room. Andy Spade:
"I spend most of my time in the living room, just because I like to read and sit down and write. I like it because it’s the most open room with the fireplace, and it’s the most comfortable. I lived in tiny spaces most of my life in New York so I don’t like to stay in those often. If [I could choose a] second room, it would probably be the red room, which is where our library television is. Katie says, ‘Oh, don’t call it the red room, it’s such a cliché.’ Well, the walls are red! And it’s a room!"

Maybe her daughter had been having her own mental health issues, causing strife within the family. Is that why Kate Spade took "time off to be with" her daughter? Maybe Spade is telling the daughter it has nothing to do with that, and to ask her father. I also think that the "ask Daddy" was passive-aggressive and related to his imminent moving out of the apartment and the marriage. Sad story, and it WILL fuck the kid up for sure. After the grief, there will be intense RAGE at her mother for abandoning her.

That being said - I wouldn't be caught dead carrying one of her handbags. I just really disliked them. For handbags I alternate between my Frye., RL, and Gucci for nicer occassions.

Thanks, R490. I wonder if the sister will spill the beans on Kate's husband:
[quote]"I will say this was not unexpected by me. I'd flown out to Napa and NYC several times in the past 3-4 years to help her to get the treatment she needed (inpatient hospitalization). She was always a very excitable little girl and I felt all the stress/pressure of her brand (KS) may have flipped the switch where she eventually became full-on manic depressive . . . .
[quote]"I'd come so VERY close to getting her to go in for treatment (to the same place Catherine Zeta-Jones went for her successful bipolar treatment program). I'd spoken with them on the phone (not telling them exactly who the patient would be). They agreed to fly in and talk with her and take her with them to the treatment center.
[quote]"She was all set to go — but then chickened out by morning. I even said I (would) go with her and be a 'patient' too (she liked that idea) I said we could talk about it all — our childhood, etc. That I could help her fill in any blanks she might have . . . .
[quote]"That seemed to make her more comfortable, and we'd get sooo close to packing her bags, but — in the end, the 'image' of her brand (happy-go-lucky Kate Spade) was more important for her to keep up. She was definitely worried about what people would say if they found out."
[quote]Spade's husband and business partner, Andy Spade, assisted in trying to coax her into treatment, making plans on how it would work and who would take care of their daughter, Frances Beatrix, known as Bea, Saffo said. "Nothing ever came of it."
[quote]"After numerous attempts, I finally let go," Saffo wrote. "Sometimes you simply cannot SAVE people from themselves! One of the last things she said to me was, 'Reta, I know you hate funerals and don't attend them, but for me would you PLEASE come to MINE, at least. Please!' I know she perhaps had a plan, but she insisted she did not."
[quote]Saffo said her sister was at a hotel in Santa Fe when she saw the television news report of Robin Williams' death.
[quote]"We were freaked out/saddened," Saffo said, "but she kept watching it and watching it over and over. I think the plan was already in motion even as far back as then."
[quote]Saffo ended her email about her sister:
[quote]"She was a dear little person. So dear — so kind, so funny. I'll miss our 6-7-hr-long phone conversations between NY and NM.
[quote]"I'm off to bed for a good cry."

The article linked at R340 quotes her sister that KS suffered from untreated mental illness for a long time. And that she was obsessed with the story of Robin Williams suicide.
Both her sister and husband encouraged her to seek treatment but each time, KS would back out at the last minute because she worried that if it came out it would "hurt the brand".

But the doorknob hanging it’s the easiest way to hang yourself. Scott tied the scarf around her neck and then on the doorknob. Once it’s tightened you sit on the floor and lean away from the closed door til you pass out. Then your body goes limp without a severe body drop and gravity takes over to finish choking you the rest of the way out. Death within 15-20mins. And with little damage to the body they can still look amazing in a coffin for viewing. Vanity til the end

My husband and I share a 2 story house. On weekends, sometimes we don’t see each other for hours. I could easily kill myself in a room next to his without him finding me until the next day.

Well, she is justifiably pissed that Kate never agreed to go into treatment because of "the brand," but yeah, it probably would have behooved her to wait a few days before talking to a reporter about the situation.
Some of the info the sister conveyed is rather curious. Like, she thinks the pressure and stress of running KS pushed Kate into full-blown mental illness, yet says Kate had been having problems for just 3 or 4 years—at which point, Kate was about 7 or 8 years into her sabbatical from the business. I also have to wonder why Kate and Andy decided to launch a new business in the middle of Kate having all these problems.

Help me to understand this: the housemaid found KS hanging from the doorknob in her bedroom. She then ran downstairs to the doorman or concierge, who came back upstairs with her to cut KS down and perform CPR. So...where the heck was her husband during all this? He was supposed to be at home per reports.

People who kill themselves are NOT thinking clearly, rationally, thoughtfully, etc. That’s why they kill themselves. Why do people refuse to understand this and namecall the dead? The survival instinct is the strongest instinct. Killing oneself is not easy to do and one has to be far gone to get to that point. Go ahead and try it.

R518, I don’t understand, either. What I imagine is that the building wouldn’t want police and ambulance screeching up there if it could be avoided.
The household staff and building staff are probably close. In fact, in our building, the wife of a longtime concierge has a housecleaning and babysitting gigs with residents. I’d imagine someone like her instinctively running to someone they’re familiar with and trust. Keeping it in the family until it’s obvious they have to call in authorities.

r531 it's strange that the housekeeper didn't immediately run to KS's husband for help and to let him know what was going on, considering he was supposedly in the apartment. The apartment while spacious couldn't be that huge.
Instead she went all the way down several floors to the lobby to bring up the doorman for help?
by Anonymous | reply 552 | June 6, 2018 2:45 AM |
R524, maybe the poster at R512 means that Kate felt like a fraud as a designer since she never formally trained as one. I always knew that she wasn't a designer in the technical hands-on sense, but I always appreciated her eye, her unique style and point of view on lifestyle matters. She seemed proper and traditional, but casual and fun. She hearkened to another era, I think, where people entertained at home and sent thank you notes, but weren't show-offy (i.e. Triscuits and cheese at your cocktail party).
She and Andy did a great job portraying their vision in the ads, packaging, and store designs. This "Visiting Tennessee" ad campaign from 2002 was very memorable for many. It doesn't date either. Like their apartment, it's traditional with an eccentric edge that can stand the test of time. I'll miss her for sure. After she and Andy sold the company the brand turned into a little bit of a caricature of itself. The new stuff they were doing with Frances Valentine was pretty interesting -- the shoes more than the bags. But the styling of the models is very fresh and fun and in line with Kate and Andy's aesthetic.
What I can't understand is why she'd say her daughter thinks she "never did anything" in fashion or the work world. Her mother's name is everywhere, in every nice shopping district across the world!

R553, I’m the one who says teenage girls are mean (they very much are. I was one.)
And probably to her daughter, she was just “mom”. She wasn’t around for the meteoric rise, didn’t see her working and creating. She wasn’t in awe of her the way others may have been. Many years ago, I was friends with the daughter of an A-list entertainer. She was unimpressed with the person who was worshipped by so many. She shrugged off all the praise. Reminds me of the way Martha Stewart’s daughter got married at City Hall in a gray suit.
