How are they going to shoehorn Denis Leary into this? Some long-lost uncle or something?

Is Baz really dead?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 29, 2018 5:23 AM |
Premiere is tonight!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 29, 2018 9:57 PM |
I need more of J’s pretty naked butt.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 29, 2018 10:00 PM |
I actually want to see more of Deran and Adrian.
They're such a hot couple!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 29, 2018 10:06 PM |
It seems like forever since the last season.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 29, 2018 10:07 PM |
Dang. He dead.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 30, 2018 1:27 AM |
Who, Baz???
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 30, 2018 1:33 AM |
I can't believe that this show would get rid of Scott Speedman, in favor of Dennis Leary.
Big mistake.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 30, 2018 1:33 AM |
I was kinda bummed because when last season ended and Craig went away, I thought that the were basically writing Ben Robson out of the series. I liked the big lug, so I'm glad to see that he has a part to play this season. It was sweet to see the brothers having a group hug to console each other, but J is just such an outsider you gotta feel a little bad for him.
I HATE that that cow Nicky is still around. I hope that Pope's unhinged rage at her and the world drives Nicky away... soon.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 30, 2018 2:13 AM |
Baz had a hot ass, but he couldn’t live forever.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 30, 2018 2:35 AM |
Shawn Hatosy had a shower scene and that man has a great ass.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 30, 2018 2:44 AM |
So many scrumptious bottoms on this show.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 30, 2018 2:46 AM |
Do I need to watch the first two seasons, or can I jump in now?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 30, 2018 3:20 AM |
Did Scott Speedman get a job on another show or something? Why did they kill him off?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 30, 2018 3:23 AM |
R14, start from the beginning.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 30, 2018 3:27 AM |
R14 - gotta start from season one or you'll miss the gay scenes with the character Deran and his sweet BF Adrian.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 30, 2018 4:03 AM |
Scott Speedman was starring in a very popular show, that's only in its third season. Why in the hell would he leave that?? The cast seemed to get along great with each other.
I wonder if it had to do with Dennis Leary?
Anyway, Shawn Hatosy looks a little off this season, in his face. I think he lost too much weight or something. He doesn't look the same.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 30, 2018 5:35 AM |
When's Kim Zimmer going to guest star on the show? Jake Weary's mom.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 30, 2018 5:45 AM |
So what's the deal with J?
Did he have a hand in killing Baz? And why is he paying off the Mexican people?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 30, 2018 6:11 AM |
Someone please post all the derrière shots so we can admire and compare.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 30, 2018 2:55 PM |
The payments are protection money for Smurf in prison.
Denis Leary is described in the preview as J’s father.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 30, 2018 2:57 PM |
All of the guys on the show have had bare butt shots, except for Scott Speedman and Jake Weary.
I really wish Jake would bare his ass. I'll bet it's nice.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 30, 2018 9:53 PM |
So any gossip on why Speedman left the show?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 30, 2018 9:53 PM |
Finn Cole’s ass is my favorite, and I love that his grandmother was perving on him.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 30, 2018 9:54 PM |
Finn's ass is very nice and plump, but his face isn't that great.
He's a bit of a butterface.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 30, 2018 11:14 PM |
I love his tighty whities.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 30, 2018 11:37 PM |
Scott Speedman was the main reason I watched the show. Well, that and the Deran/Adrian gay story.
But Speedman was my real crush on Animal Kingdom. What a bummer!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 31, 2018 3:15 AM |
FYI - I read an interview with Jake Weary and he says that Adrian will be back this season and Deran will no longer be hiding his gayness from his family or the world. Yay!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 31, 2018 3:21 AM |
Love it, R32!
I hope that psycho Pope doesn't kill them both.
A character like Pope looks like he wouldn't be cool with it, in real life.
But brother/best friend Craig looks like he would actually be cool with it.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 31, 2018 3:25 AM |
I thought that Smurf said Dennis Leary was Pope's father, and not J's?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 1, 2018 12:52 AM |
Very confusing, R34 - I read that Leary is playing Deran's father.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 1, 2018 1:04 AM |
Oh, boy.
Now I'm really confused, R35.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 1, 2018 1:25 AM |
pissed they killed baz, he was the best actor, and best lookin.
hate the guy and the part: shawn hatosy/aka Pope,, sniveling creep, shouda been him that got offed, but no, that would be to perfect.
fuk this show, im done
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 3, 2018 9:21 AM |
Why do they have one of the sons wearing a Herbalife shirt????
They don't know its a colossal rip off and con game? weird...
They musta paid top dollar to have their logo in the show. Kind of fucked up.
This season sucks anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 3, 2018 9:23 AM |
That puissant pope is runnin the show? not believable. the actor is a midget fug
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 3, 2018 9:34 AM |
Of all the people to kill off, why did they ex off the best one.....maybe he wanted out of that mess.
surely this is its last season, its rather dreary and bleak and BORING
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 3, 2018 10:22 AM |
Hopefully they can bring Baz back from the dead....
Its tv after all...
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 3, 2018 12:08 PM |
Interesting r40, the surprising lack of pre-show publicity makes me think this will indeed be the final season.
I suspect Eleen Barkin, whose face looks even worse tha Sean Hatosy's, must be a colossal pain in the ass on the set.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 3, 2018 12:31 PM |
R33 - it was already established in S1 that Craig is fine with Deran's sexuality. He's known all along and even invited Deran's BF Adrian to a party so they could hang out. It was Deran who was so scared/closeted that he basically chased Adrian away.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 3, 2018 3:04 PM |
Since this is sort of based on the movie and real life, Baz needed to die.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 3, 2018 3:20 PM |
Speedman was hired knowing he would be killed off quickly. Apparently they kept him alive for an extra season.
Smurf got Botox in prison.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 4, 2018 9:29 AM |

Dude, they all know even if it hasn’t been confirmed on screen.

After just one episode?

What the fuk happened to ellen barkin, she looks like my granny, her character is so one dimensional, like most on the show, zero humor. boring.

by Anonymous | reply 55 | June 6, 2018 10:59 PM |
This season feels different. Maybe it's been too long since last season and I've lost some interest, but it feels there's less substance to balance the shallow visual adrenaline scenes.
First two seasons were good with character's inner conflicts and building the tension between the mother and Buzz. If we are supposed to feel anything towards Jay's struggles than the way they handle his character is not working. Any of the other brothers is more interesting to watch than him while he is supposed to have the central story of taking over his mother's position.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | June 7, 2018 8:46 AM |
Agreed R56. I barely made it through the episode. I mean...it's recycled storylines. The feds are coming. They have to clean the money. They have to find the money. They have to do another JOB! Craig got his ass kicked AGAIN.
Even Daren and Adrian are boring as fuck and not to mention THE most contrived couple in the history of contrivityness.
Also, can someone tell me why do straight people think ALL gay sex begins with shoving, punching and wrestling moves? So fucking dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 7, 2018 9:38 AM |
With his hair cut, Jake Weary looks even more like his mother.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 7, 2018 11:25 AM |
yea, the plots/dialogue is worse this year
same writers? seems naïve and dumb
is there a plot? we don't give a shit bout momma, her and her eternal grimace: we get it: SHE IS BAD.
pivot off the 'lets get away with the next crime' to sumpin else.....pursue the gay boys life....hot wid his short haircut
this may be the last season if its stays this plain.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 7, 2018 12:38 PM |
When in this season does Denis Leary rear his wrinkled head?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 7, 2018 6:43 PM |
Adrian came across as manipulating Daren for money. I'm sure that will end well.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | June 7, 2018 7:01 PM |
Agree. It’s gone from frequently riveting too a chore. Not sure why.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 7, 2018 7:24 PM |
Hate to say it, but Barkin was the perfect foil for all the actors. Without her, there is none of that crazy sexual tension she had with all her sons.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 12, 2018 1:10 AM |
Yeah, putting Smurf in jail was a bad storytelling decision.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | June 12, 2018 2:14 AM |
smurf
perfect bozo name for her, old dry rattlesnake that barkin is, how did her face get so tore up
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 12, 2018 5:16 AM |
So Smurf is the one who ordered Baz's execution? That's what I deduced from seeing that it was Mia who pulled the trigger. That is cold.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 14, 2018 4:21 PM |
I'm only in it for the gay storyline at this point. Everything else I couldn't care less about.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 15, 2018 2:06 AM |
Deran's hair looks great, and he looks very good in a white shirt/jersey.
The character has come a long way from season one, where he was the most hated person on the show ( by me.)
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 15, 2018 2:09 AM |
[quote]So Smurf is the one who ordered Baz's execution? That's what I deduced from seeing that it was Mia who pulled the trigger. That is cold.
Could be a red herring
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 15, 2018 6:43 AM |
Third episode was better. All the main characters act stupid but at least there was something happening.
Mia is such a straight guy's cliche fantasy girl.
I can't take the Lena and Pope story line seriously. I realize this is fiction, but it would have been nice if the story was a little more realistic. Child services and the police not asking questions about what happened to her mother is hard to believe.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | June 18, 2018 9:18 AM |
Shawn Hatosy's looks are so distracting this season.
What is it with male actors nowdays, trying to act like their female counterparts, and dropping tons of weight? He looks fucking HORRIBLE.
For fuck's sake... he's a MAN, not a woman. He doesn't need to weigh 120 pounds.
He has absolutely no clue how horrible it makes him look. His face is completely sunken in, and it reveals his mis-shapen head. Not only that, he looks like he's aged at least 20 years.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | June 19, 2018 3:43 AM |
Shawn looked a million times better when he weighed a little bit more.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | June 19, 2018 3:45 AM |
He looks like he had some weight fluctuations, though.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 19, 2018 3:46 AM |
Dennis Leary looks .... different.
He seems like he'd be more like Pope's father, rather than Deran's.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 20, 2018 4:52 AM |
At Hatosy's age, if you're going to have that ass, your going to wind up with that face.
Or he could have a face full of injectables.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 20, 2018 5:12 AM |
no kidding, the gay storyline is the best part of the drear show
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 20, 2018 11:02 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 79 | June 20, 2018 4:24 PM |
I hope they don't skip on Deran and Dr. Hot getting drunk together.
How did the Dr. know where Deran's bar was?

by Anonymous | reply 83 | June 21, 2018 3:59 AM |
Didn't read all the posts because I've only watched the first episode of the season and maybe it's already been mentioned, but Adrian is going to be in a lot of episodes this season. 2, 7, 9-13.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 26, 2018 4:47 PM |
Damn, that was some hot sex with Deran.
So is Adrian no longer in the picture?
I missed the first few episodes. How did Deran meet the black guy?
by Anonymous | reply 85 | June 27, 2018 5:28 AM |
Black X-Gmes doctor showed up at the bar in the last episode.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | June 27, 2018 5:29 AM |
Damn, this prison story line is good.
That's exactly how criminals work, both inside and outside prison. Well connected people are well connected, no matter where they end up.
The story is getting a little complicated, but it's interesting. At least there seems to be more of a point to the show, than last season, which was just random jobs here and there. The church robbery story (and Pope going to church) was dumb.
I'm glad they're back to the crazy.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | June 27, 2018 5:42 AM |
Who is the guy who plays Carter? Omg he is SO hot!
The scene where they just left the old lady on the sidewalk was cold. But I get it. At least they didn't kill her.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 27, 2018 5:54 AM |
He looks much better on camera, R89.
Deran needs to hop on that! Plus, he's a surfer, which Deran likes.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | June 27, 2018 6:14 AM |
Unfortunately I doubt we'll see him again. Seemed like a one off character.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | June 27, 2018 6:15 AM |
Thanks for the identification of Rick Malambri, R89.
I found so many good pictures of him, but I like this one.
Carter needs to become a regular character on the show!
by Anonymous | reply 92 | June 27, 2018 6:23 AM |
dennis leary???? I must avert my eyes when his fugness is on the show
his asshole ed ness negates the bad boy image of the show
weak
by Anonymous | reply 95 | June 27, 2018 10:14 AM |
Looks like Pope is spinning towards a major blowup. He's the oldest and his brothers aren't listening, his nephew lies to him, that Mia chick just shows up again after he told her to find someplace else, Deran's father is flopping at his mother's house. Now, after trying to give Lena stability, she is assaulting other kids at school. His blowup in the car was sad/scary. You could see how hard he's trying to keep it together. I like his character (murder of Cath notwithstanding) and hope he can turn it around.
How is charging high rent but really only collecting $127 make sense? How can Smurf run her empire with this plan? I know she launders money, but showing a high influx but not really getting it seems counterproductive.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | June 27, 2018 2:17 PM |
[quote] Now, after trying to give Lena stability, she is assaulting other kids at school. His blowup in the car was sad/scary. You could see how hard he's trying to keep it together.
Maybe then he shouldn't have killed Lena's mother, lol.
Anywho, this was a good episode. Leary isn't bad, but I can do without him calling Deran "dude." It's kind of lame.
So what's happening to Nicki? Is she dying?
by Anonymous | reply 97 | June 27, 2018 3:59 PM |
[quote]How did Deran meet the black guy?
They met at the hospital where the black guy was working as a nurse (I think?). Craig had a dislocated shoulder and he recognized him because he used to be some famous surfer. Like R86 said, he showed up at Deran's bar after that
by Anonymous | reply 98 | June 28, 2018 1:08 AM |
I can't decide between R98 and R99!
I love the heat in 98, but I also love the sweet in 99.
Damn, Deran. So many bottoms to choose from.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | June 28, 2018 3:24 AM |
That little conversation that Dennis Leary had with Deran, was kind of funny.
"Bang as many women as possible."
"I'm gay."
"Then bang as many guys as possible. You know, there was this one time when I was on the beach, and this guy...."
"Okay, I get it... I get it."
lol

And Dennis Leary's character's a junkie.
I hate them all now.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | June 29, 2018 3:59 AM |
They don't film the episodes in sequence. Deran's hair keeps changing in each episode.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | June 29, 2018 10:04 AM |
So far this season sux, leary, surf, the bros....they all seem adrift in different student films.
ditch leary n surf, heighten the gay action with that bro, lessen the sturn drang of the one who looks like a monkey , lighten it up~
by Anonymous | reply 106 | June 29, 2018 10:17 AM |
The addition of Leary was a huge mistake, he brings a lot of baggage, not liked.

[quote]How is charging high rent but really only collecting $127 make sense? How can Smurf run her empire with this plan? I know she launders money, but showing a high influx but not really getting it seems counterproductive.
She “pays” herself the rest of the nominal rent with money orders purchased with dirty money. As far as the law knows, the money orders are sent in by tenants. The dirty money is now clean rent income.
Obvious hole in this plan is tenants who might get in trouble with law or angry at Smurf and tell the truth. I thought the apartments were supposed to be empty. Didn’t Smurf take Jay to an empty apartment once?
by Anonymous | reply 108 | June 30, 2018 1:43 PM |
Seems like a precarious way to launder money.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | July 1, 2018 5:44 AM |

The show is really suffering having Smurf in jail and away from the action. A big part of the show was her interaction with her sons. I’m hoping that she gets out of jail soon. They alluded to not having enough evidence to hold her in the most recent episode. We’re only on episode 6. There are still 7 episodes with season. Fingers crossed.
Agree, Dennis Leary is a poor addition to the show.

by Anonymous | reply 117 | July 4, 2018 9:45 PM |
Is Deran going to tell Adrian that he's fucking a new guy? lol
And I'm so stupid. How could I not have seen that Ellen Barkin is wearing a wig. That's stupid headband is attached to a white wig, and all she has to do is strap it on. I knew that she was so vain, she'd never go gray - even for an acting role.

Nicky died way before this in the original movie and garnered a lot of sympathy. This time, I can't wait for her to kick off. Such a fucking boring character.
Dennis Leary is so fucking smarmy and the cunt he brought along is the same. Why the fuck would anyone let him stay?
Finn Cole is basically playing the same role on Peaky Blinders.
Thanks for identifying Carter. Hot guy. I looked in imdb for him but lost patience wading through cast lists.
Deran has been having a LOT of sex. I binge watched S2 so it's fresh in my mind but he banged Andy Favreau, too. Also sucked off some grindr hookup.

Smurf has a black eye in the previews for this week so obviously the protection money is not getting the job done. She's looking like shit, too. Surprised Barkin is okay with letting her look so bad because now everyone thinks that's how she really looks!

Nicki was the worst character ever.
She served absolutely no purpose.
Now get rid of Dennis Leary.

by Anonymous | reply 136 | July 11, 2018 10:40 PM |
I can't wait to see Smurf get herself comfortable at home again and start to plot the revenge on her no good sons. We'll see if she goes easier on J because he didn't ditch her altogether. Also, she will have to do something to get rid of Billy the addict. I suspect she will wait until after the heist they have planned and then unload on the lot of them.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | July 12, 2018 12:04 AM |
J has descended to the level the rest are on.
May be fun to see Smurf try to restore order to the home.
Does Pope do anything other than look menacing???

[quote] Adrian showed up but they didn't fuck
I love how true to life their relationship is.
It has its ups and downs, they make up then break up, they have sex then hate each other, and then come around again.
And even though they're "just friends" right now, they can still have conversations together as past lovers, and talk about current relationships, and somehow it always ends up with some sort of intimacy.
That's exactly how my relationships have always been. You break up, but the fondness for each other is still there.
The writers are doing a great job as making Deran and Adrian's relationship into something completely normal, and I love it.

This series gets no attention, no talk show media blitz, no nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | July 15, 2018 2:18 AM |
r108, that doesn't work. Here's why: I have stolen money. I rent below market rate. I then launder my stolen money by paying myself market rate. If I can do that, then I may as well charge market rate, and stop stealing. It's a stupid business model. The real winners are the tenants getting the cheap apartments, not Smurf.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | July 15, 2018 4:55 AM |
[quote] It's a stupid business model.
It has to be.
They can't very well show people how to launder money on television.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | July 15, 2018 5:00 AM |
They could at least do it in a way that doesn't ignore basic math. Deran's bar would be perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | July 15, 2018 5:54 AM |
The fake rents on the books are presumably much higher than what they could actually charge, but I agree the money laundering scheme doesn’t seem very efficient. They actually have all of the problems of a landlord—maintenance, deadbeat tenants, fires, floods, etc. Plus, as shown, they are at risk if any of the tenants talk and it’s hard to hide if you’re living below market. Family and friends and neighbors get nosy. And owning all those apartments ties up a lot of capital. Perhaps if they owned entire buildings they could get mortgages, but then you’ve got bankers poking around.
The only thing that made sense to me was to book rents for fictional apartments. But if they were ever audited or investigated, that would be easily uncovered.

The tension was beyond palpable when the boys were reunited with Smurf.
The rage from Pope was barely contained.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | July 18, 2018 12:39 PM |
There's no way in hell that Smurf cleaned up that house (and folded all of J's socks) all in one day.
No way.
And why did that lazy bitch only decide to get off her ass, once Smurf came home?
All she ever did was lay by the pool and sleep.
Her ass should have been out on the street, once Smurf was back.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | July 18, 2018 3:59 PM |
Now I'm wondering if Lucy is trying to make Pope think that Smurf had Baz killed, so that he'll go to war on his mom. Lucy and her crew are feeding Pope those (fake) stories because she wants to enrage him enough that he kills Smurf and then Lucy won't have to worry about Smurf figuring out that she has the stolen money.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | July 18, 2018 7:29 PM |
R159
Hold up! Smurf didn't have Baz killed? I thought she did.

by Anonymous | reply 161 | July 18, 2018 10:37 PM |
Baz was the hottest. Is it really worth watching without him?
by Anonymous | reply 162 | July 19, 2018 9:43 AM |
Well R160 it's not really been determined who had Baz killed. We have seen that the shooter was that girl Mia, but no one has definitively been shown as the brains. The show has made innuendo that it's Smurf who put the hit out, but suspicion is also on Lucy and her brother Marco, that they wanted Baz out of the way so they could steal the money that Baz had stashed in his house.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | July 19, 2018 3:26 PM |
Shawn Hatosy has really overdone it with the hair dye this season, eh?
by Anonymous | reply 164 | July 20, 2018 1:21 AM |
I'm watching it now on Netflix. I thought the show would suffer without Scott Speedman, but nope, it's actually gotten better! Scott might be nice on the eyes, but he's a TERRIBLE actor. The show is so much better without him. Season 3 feels much more "put together" than season 2, if that makes sense.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | July 22, 2018 1:18 PM |
I agree, R165.
That "Pope goes to church" storyline was lame. So was the thought that Baz would just forget the mother of his child, and move on to another girlfriend. That didn't make any sense.
Season 3 is definitely more focused.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | July 24, 2018 3:22 AM |
She wasn't another girlfriend, R166. He was screwing Lucy for years before Cath was dead and seemed to care as much for Lucy as he did for Cath, but Smurf kept them apart. She hated Cath, but she hated Lucy more.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | July 24, 2018 9:56 PM |
R167
Lucy was the side piece. Baz had been with Cath since high school. They created a home together & had a daughter.
Cath was the stable, home & heath while Lucy was the reckless danger girl on the side.

So is Billy (Dennis Leary) telling the truth about how Smurf threatened him to stay away from Deran? Deran seems to believe the story, but maybe it's just because he wants a dad.
I believe the story, but Billy is a grifter, so you never know.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | July 24, 2018 10:19 PM |
I believe Billy because that story lines up with everything we've learned about Smurf since day 1.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | July 24, 2018 11:08 PM |
Jake Weary is looking hotter than he has ever looked on this show. He's so damned sexy. I also love seeing him with Adrian. They belong together.
Dennis Leary walking in on them was hilarious. Yeah, as if that would happen in real life.
So did J sign his life away in those documents that Smurf and her attorney gave him? I'm guessing yes. There's some shady business happening there.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | July 25, 2018 5:14 AM |
I can't believe Smurf had sex with Billy.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | July 25, 2018 5:35 AM |
It was only so that she could get something out of him, R172.
She knows that Deran listens to Billy, and she said that she needs Deran on board with her plan to recover her money. If Deran's in, then Craig is in.
Smurf is one of the most manipulative characters on television. I'm just hoping that J fucks her over. She's so smug.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | July 25, 2018 5:42 AM |
J didn't sign his life away, he was just being relieved of the power of attorney so that Smurf would run things again.
I don't believe for a minute that Billy tried to run away with Deran, or that it would have been a good idea if he had succeeded.
If someone less lizard-like than Denis Leary had been cast as Billy, I would not be having the problems with him I do. As such, I find it incomprehensible that anyone would give that asshole the time of day or believe a word he says. Or that even if she wants something from him, that Smurf would take him to bed. Someone who had some looks and charm where you could see people might be susceptible to him would have been much better.
I'm sure Deran would have locked the door if he was going to have anal sex with Adrian so that anyone else from the bar wouldn't have walked in either. Billy picking up the condom was just gross.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | July 25, 2018 4:35 PM |
There's always been this fiction around Leary that he was some kind of incredible stud. I remember on "Rescue Me" he was saving a woman from a burning building but she refused to be evacuated until he had fucked her first. Yeah, no.
Maybe if it had been one of the young hot stud firefighters...

I feel like Linc is much more in Deran's league. I mean...Adrian isn't bad per se, he is cute-ish. But compared to the beefcake Linc he literally looks like a troll. I think Linc and Deran make the better couple. They also have better chemistry imo. Sadly I don't think they will happen now. This show has decided Deran belongs with Adrian, ugh :(
by Anonymous | reply 182 | July 27, 2018 3:43 PM |
[quote] I think Linc and Deran make the better couple. They also have better chemistry imo
NO way. Adrian and Deran are the perfect couple. They're long time friends, they're both surfers, and they complement each other very well.
And in terms of the chemistry on-screen, Deran and Adrian have it way more than Deran and Linc.
Linc has a bit of an attitude, which doesn't really match with Deran, because Deran's sort of an alpha guy. Adrian's sweet and passive personality goes so much better with Deran's tough and dominant personality, plus they have much easier conversations than Deran and Linc.
Obviously, I've given this a lot of thought... lol.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | July 27, 2018 3:52 PM |
Deran and Adrian are the match. If they can ever work it out, it will be a lifetime kinda thing.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | July 27, 2018 6:08 PM |
After Deran beat the crap out of Adrian when someone saw them having sex in a public restroom and then had Pope throw Adrian's friend, who was tied up, off a yacht at sea, are we sure that the two of them are a "perfect match"? Oh yeah, Deran broke in and raped Adrian once, too. Yes, very romantic.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | July 27, 2018 6:37 PM |
R185 That's exactly the kind of history that has made these two inseparable. Thick and thin..and there they are.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | July 27, 2018 6:42 PM |
I have to say R185, that (perhaps sadly) if I was Adrian, I'd probably still be with Deran too.
And that's all beside the fact that he's hot as fuck.
Women aren't the only ones who are drawn to bad boys.

by Anonymous | reply 188 | July 27, 2018 7:23 PM |
John Wells' last show Southland had another fascinating gay relationship between LA cop Michael Cudlitz and his latino co-worker. Wells has a way of exploring gayness within a macho world without making a big deal out of it. Hatosy was also in Southland and his ass should have won an Emmy.

I think that Deran liked that with Linc it was a clean slate. Part of his bond with Adrian is that he knows the good and the bad, he knows his past. The allure of Linc for Deran is that Linc is the opposite of Adrian. Adrian is cute, for sure, but he doesn't have much going on in his own life (as far as the show has shown us) and as has been pointed out, they have a very checked relationship history. Linc is an accomplished man and there is no reminders of who Deran was when he was closeted. He's really dating Linc. We haven't seen him DATE Adrian, really. They hook up but they don't really date, which is understandable since they have known each other for some time and are just past that point in their relationship. Which is the point of Linc for Deran. He can date him and experience that now that he's out. Obviously, that honeymoon phase would have eventually ended but I think Deran liked the implied relief that Linc was from his criminal life and was upset that it was promptly ended by Craig involving him in his real life.

I love this show but Pope is my favorite.
His character is so complex & Hatosy plays every damn layer.
Like in the CPS office = I didn't know from one second to the next if he was going to hold it together, spiral into tears or flip a switch and cause bodily harm to anyone keeping him from Lena.
Same with Smurf driving him by the house of the foster parents. Will he break in, take Lena & burn the house down to cover it up, will he stay parked outside 24/7 to makes sure she's OK or what.
by Anonymous | reply 215 | August 1, 2018 4:08 PM |
I like that Lena got sent to a foster home.
Her character is kind of pointless, as far as the story is concerned.
by Anonymous | reply 216 | August 1, 2018 6:26 PM |
Pope is such a complex character. To see him suffer over Lena is heartbreaking. But I do agree that I hope she stays in the foster home so we don't have to waste valuable plot time on her.
Does Smurf have that much influence over someone that she could really find out where Lena is staying? I'm betting no so that seemed like a total plot contrivance. And I also thought Smurf would be a lot more upset herself.
You just know Adrian's asshole was all puckered up when Deran was acting all vulnerable like.
I guess Frankie is secure enough in her future as Craig's fuck toy to presume she could stay on in Smurf's house?
WTF is wrong with Craig that he wouldn't tell Billy to get the fuck out of J's room?
Next week looks like shit is going down.

And Deran confirmed for us that he's not into Linc, so it's Adrian all the way, baby!
by Anonymous | reply 218 | August 1, 2018 7:45 PM |
I just thought of a screwed up scenario.
Stupid Craig told Linc that Deran is really attracted to him. Unfortunately, Deran is not, because he's still attracted to Adrian.
So what if Linc comes back to Deran, and Deran shoots him down? Will he be mad? Will he try to get back at Deran, using the information that he knows about the criminal he helped in Deran's place?
Linc could turn into a bad guy! Hmmm....

by Anonymous | reply 227 | August 1, 2018 11:16 PM |
I'm really perplexed by Lena's situation.
Every season til this one we've seen Smurf be very involved in her care, especially after Kath died. Smurf was more active in her care than Baz after Baz spun out for Lucy's snatch.
I find it hard to believe Smurf would come out of the slammer, clean house, order the boys to all come to dinner, then go to sleep that night without asking WTF Lena was or how she is.
If Lena is in that foster home I don't believe Smurf would be copacetic with it.
If she's lying to Pope about that being the foster home then she has to know he's not going to just take her word for it.
Plus, it seems awfully unrealistic that Lena would wind up in a palatial foster home with all the bells & whistles Smurf painted it to be.
by Anonymous | reply 228 | August 1, 2018 11:19 PM |
Honestly R228, I think they just didn't know what to do with her, so they made Lena go "away."
Foster home solves the problem nicely.
And truly, Lena is no blood relation to any of the Cody's (Baz was adopted by Smurf). So legally, the process that is playing out, is correct.
If Pope wants to adopt her, he has to file the paperwork for it.
by Anonymous | reply 229 | August 1, 2018 11:23 PM |
I do think the foster home was a little nicer than your average guy who works on the docks and a dental hygienist could typically afford, but it certainly wasn't "palatial." Kind of average for inland areas near Oceanside.
Agree that Smurf was awfully nonchalant.

by Anonymous | reply 235 | August 2, 2018 1:08 AM |
I can believe that Linc may want to steer clear of Deran - he saw what kind of life he and his family lead (gunshot wounds!). After that incident maybe Linc thought that this may become a pattern of being called in to patch up the Cody's/their minions. I imagine Linc just wants to be a doctor and screwing Deran may be fun but he's not going to throw his career away for it.

[quote] Seeing Deran and Adrian together on the couch just melts my heart.
Also, that scene hearkens back to scenes in season one before Deran came out. When stressed out, Deran would go to his mother (Smurf), put his head in her lap while she stroked his hair. None of the other boys ever did that. Now, same scene, different lap.

I think that's still undetermined, R238. The background story on that is still sketchy.
And even if it's true, on paper, Lena's parents are Baz and Cath.
Therefore, Pope has no legal parental rights. Also on paper, he's not technically her uncle, either.
He would still have to apply to adopt her. Lena's going to be out of the picture for a while.

R240 is one of those people who, when asked the time of day, will tell you how to make a watch.

I was reading the previews for tonight's show, and I'm scared.
It says that something Smurf does, has terrible consequences. I hope that someone else doesn't die!

I hope that J’s clothes are permanently removed.

As long as the dead person is not Deran or Adrian and they continue to fuck, I'm probably okay with it.

I want the show to be all Deran, all naked, all the time.
Is that too much to ask?

It looks like Smurf is coming after J, now.
Funny how he was the only one that she wouldn't "allow" to wear the bullet-proof vest.

I was so BORED with Smurf in prison. I've got a renewed interest now that she's back. The recent episodes have been on point.

by Anonymous | reply 250 | August 8, 2018 12:37 PM |
I was thinking, "No way Lucy's going to let Pope go without some permanent damage being inflicted," but then I realized she's using him as a weapon to get Smurf instead of a gun.

At least we got to see Adrian and Derian post-coital.
by Anonymous | reply 252 | August 8, 2018 3:10 PM |
Billy stayed gone! Yay!
by Anonymous | reply 253 | August 8, 2018 6:54 PM |
So did Smurf just say that she killed Baz, so that she could get Pope back? Or was she telling the truth?
I think that Lucy recorded Smurf's confession, and she's going to use it against Smurf. However, I think that Smurf is just going to lie and say that she only said it to get Pope back. She's such a liar, you can never tell.
by Anonymous | reply 254 | August 8, 2018 9:24 PM |
Smurf may say she lied, but by virtue of the fact that Mia was the shooter, I think it safe to think she was responsible for setting it up. She loves money way more than she loves her family, and Baz ripped her off big time.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | August 8, 2018 10:00 PM |
I believe the show will play with Smurf's involvement in Baz's death for a little while but like R255 said, Mia being his shooter means she must have had some kind of hand in what happened. Maybe he was only meant to be wounded and not killed. Still, her basically throwing J to the wolves means it's definitely plausible that she had Baz killed. I mean, J didn't even steal from her and she gave zero fucks about whether he died in pursuit of her getting her money back.
by Anonymous | reply 256 | August 8, 2018 10:05 PM |
Hatosy said it gets really bad & that Smurf "gaslights" Pope in the last 2 episodes of the season.
Pope isn't wound too tight on a good day. Gaslighting him will not be a good idea.

Why do they have to destroy the ONLY other gay character on the show??

by Anonymous | reply 266 | August 15, 2018 4:55 AM |
Smurf said that J gets Baz's cut of the money because he's Baz's son.
So that means that he's Lena's half-brother, right?
Why doesn't J give a shit about Lena? lol
by Anonymous | reply 267 | August 15, 2018 5:12 AM |
Derran is still a Cody and by no means squeaky clean. He may want to get out of the family business to some degree, but he is still a hardened criminal like the rest of the family. Thematically it fits that his relationships get destroyed even though it sucks that we might lose a good on-screen gay couple.
Even if Adrian doesn't get arrested, he lied about his surfing sponsorship to Derran since the money is coming from the smuggling. I can see that being a big source of conflict since Derran is trying to find stability outside of the criminal chaos of his family. I believe Derran might have been disappointed in the smuggling and maybe even try to talk sense into Adrian, but I think it is the lying about it that will kill things between them.
by Anonymous | reply 268 | August 15, 2018 5:13 AM |
I want to see Deran and Adrian happy together.
Seeing them waking up and having breakfast together, just makes me happy.
by Anonymous | reply 269 | August 15, 2018 5:15 AM |
My guess is that Smurf is lying about Baz being J's father. She can't tell the truth to anyone and it benefits her to let J think Baz is his dad.
My twisted theory is that Pope is J's dad, and yes that makes Pope's sister his mom. Pope in season 1 was shown much creepier, more unstable, and appeared to be unusually fond of his sister. It is that pregnancy that caused Julia to be kicked out an ostracized because Smurf had her own twisted obsession with her boys.

I'm confused. I thought we knew J was Baz's son. I thought we learned that in a previous season but J didn't know.
There's so many twists I can't keep up.
by Anonymous | reply 273 | August 15, 2018 12:33 PM |
Last night Pope just killed me.
Hatosy is such a good actor. He can convey so much with little or no dialogue.
I'd have said you were crazy if you had told me in season 1 that Pope would be the only one in this crazy family who 's capable of deep & selfless love. But it's the stone cold truth.
Smurf becomes more reptilian with every episode.
by Anonymous | reply 274 | August 15, 2018 12:38 PM |
R273, Smurf is the only one who ever said this, and coming from her it will almost certainly be a lie. She only ever uses truth as a weapon. Baz never confirmed it either. He only said, "So what if I am your father?" when J confronted him.
The big tell for me is when Pope was with the prostitute in season 1. He could only get aroused once he started imagining the woman as his twin sister. There is also a lot of subtle stuff in J's character. A lot of J's mannerisms mimic Pope from the cold, angry stare and even the way he walks.
A pregnant Julia would have been competition for Smurf. Smurf will only let her boys be with her and no other woman. Craig has never had a serious relationship, so no threat there. Derran is with a guy but also not serious though getting there, so no threat currently. Baz was serious with Lucy and look how that turned out. Now J with Mia will explode too once he finds out she killed Baz. While he hates Smurf, he's still a Cody, so I think Smurf will win this round.
by Anonymous | reply 275 | August 15, 2018 12:51 PM |
[quote]So, Jay is now a cold-blooded killer. Not good. I want to like him.
That bothered me, too. I thought he was supposed to be the "hero" of the piece, the outsider that afforded the audience a look at the twisted lives of the rest of his family. Now there really is no one to root for.
Thought I wouldn't be surprised if Laura San Giacamo shows up alive next season.
I too assumed Pope is J's father.
by Anonymous | reply 276 | August 15, 2018 1:02 PM |
[quote]Now there really is no one to root for.
Which was pretty much the point of the movie.
I'm glad to see the series going in this direction.
by Anonymous | reply 277 | August 15, 2018 1:04 PM |
I was reading a recap of last night & the recapper thought of something I didn't.
I assumed Pope was getting the drugs to kill Smurf. The recapper said he's getting the drugs to kill himself.
He had promised Baz he'd always take care of Lena & he now sees Smurf very clearly. He doesn't want Lena corrupted by her so he made the sacrifice to save her. He gave her to a family.
Pope is by far the most interesting character to me so if they kill him off after killing Baz I'm going to flip.
by Anonymous | reply 278 | August 15, 2018 3:38 PM |
I can't believe that J fed the attorney to the sharks!
He's COLD!
by Anonymous | reply 279 | August 15, 2018 4:06 PM |
R270: I am with your belief that Pope is J's biological father, making J and Lena truly half-siblings as Pope impregnated both of their mothers. I suspect J knows the truth somehow.
by Anonymous | reply 280 | August 15, 2018 4:13 PM |
Can we please be rid of that ugly creature Billy left behind and who's setting Craig up for a fall.
I would love to see Smurf meet her match...I hope Omarosa's agent reads here.
by Anonymous | reply 281 | August 15, 2018 4:24 PM |
I don't agree with the recapper who thought Pope got the euthanizing drugs for himself. He is impulsive, and if he wanted himself dead he would have just done it and not in any elaborate way. He was impulsive in deciding to run away with Lena and then just as impulsive in giving her back to the foster family to spite Smurf. He appears to love Lena, but none of his decisions were rational, even if I agree Lena was better off going back to the foster family.
I think J's explosive impulsiveness with dropping the lawyer in the ocean was meant to serve as another connection to Pope as J's dad by linking anger and impulse issues.
by Anonymous | reply 282 | August 15, 2018 4:41 PM |
J’s tableau with the lawyer was the opposite of impulsive. It was methodically planned and cold as fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 283 | August 15, 2018 4:45 PM |
I agree with it being cold, but my reasoning for it being impulsive is that it was a very rapid development from the moment Smurf questioned him about the Quicken message. Once J made the decision, he was his normal methodical self, but I would argue that the decision to just kill the lawyer as opposed to finding another solution was impulsive.
by Anonymous | reply 284 | August 15, 2018 4:49 PM |
I was a little taken aback J was such a stone-cold killer. It was definitely a moment when you realize, "OK, he's not the innocent we thought he was in Season 1, and he isn't going to be the Good Cody that escapes this hellworld." I don't really mind. Of course Derran and Adrian aren't going to be happy, of course J's a sociopath. The nihilistic nature of the show is the feature not the bug. Anyone hoping for a happy ending for anyone is probably going to be disappointed.
I hadn't really thought that Pope might be J's dad, but agree with the posters, it has been sort of foreshadowed here that he has a unnatural attraction to his sister, so I could see it. Also, I don't trust a word coming out of Smurf's mouth, so her testimony is irrelevant. I've long thought Pope was Lena's dad, and thought this storyline might lead to confirming it (but maybe not, now that Pope gave up the fight to keep her). A DNA test confirming it would certainly throw a wrench in efforts to take Lena from him. (Granted, he still has a prison record and mental illness against him, but courts are sympathetic to biological parenthood over an uncle claim.)
by Anonymous | reply 285 | August 15, 2018 5:02 PM |
Although, killing the lawyer to cover his tracks may have been planned from the instant he embezzled Smurf's money. In fact, the quiet, methodical nature with which J executed the plan indicates he wasn't acting on impulse. Finding a fall guy (girl) was baked into the scheme from day one.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | August 15, 2018 5:05 PM |
Let's not forget that our first introduction to J was him sitting on a sofa calmly watching television with his dead mother right beside him.
by Anonymous | reply 287 | August 15, 2018 5:06 PM |
If there were a chance Pope was Lena’s Dad, he would know it, and would have pulled the biological father card out when CPS took her away. I don’t think they are going there.
by Anonymous | reply 288 | August 15, 2018 5:08 PM |
Pope is rash but not stupid. He knows that even if he were proven to be her dad, because of his violent criminal past he wouldn't be allowed to raise her. So getting to hurt Smurf while helping Lena would be a win for him.
[quote] Finding a fall guy (girl) was baked into the scheme from day one.
If that turns out to be the case, then I would concede he was not impulsive, but I don't recall any foreshadowing to that effect (specifically for a fall person) unlike other things in the show. Regardless it was an immature decision in that the lawyer's disappearance will likely get used by the cops to put more scrutiny on Smurf (the cops already know she is laundering money through properties but has no proof, but investigating the missing lawyer could open up that link). Smurf already made it clear if she goes, so do her boys with J being the first.
by Anonymous | reply 289 | August 15, 2018 5:19 PM |
Underneath J’s innocent looks lie the heart of a psychopath. I’m so torn—I still think he’s adorable but he’s a scary little fucker.
by Anonymous | reply 290 | August 15, 2018 5:25 PM |
I thought the kill kit Pope bought was for Smurf at first, then when he was in his house and staring at the vial of sedative, I then wondered if he was contemplating using it on himself. His scene with Lena on the swings was so sad - he spills his guts but she loves him and it hurts her to see him so sad all the time. I'm happy that he gave her back to the family and I want to believe he did it for her and not to get back at Smurf.
J being a hardcore killer freaked me out - he really stepped into the dark side to cover his ass. Adrian and Deran are too cute together and I hope that Adrian isn't written out of the show with that drug smuggling stuff. The only downside to this episode is that Mia, who has permanent bitch face. She doesn't deserve a spiffy place like that.
by Anonymous | reply 291 | August 15, 2018 5:34 PM |
You can’t use that kit on yourself. You have to administer the gas after the person is unconscious. Pope would just blow his brains out. No need to hide a suicide.
by Anonymous | reply 292 | August 15, 2018 5:37 PM |
[quote]Pope is rash but not stupid. He knows that even if he were proven to be her dad, because of his violent criminal past he wouldn't be allowed to raise her.

Why the fuck doesn't Finn Cole (J) get that wart on his forehead removed?
by Anonymous | reply 294 | August 15, 2018 7:27 PM |
I guess I was the only one not surprised by J's descent. After seeing how expendable he was to Smurf and all of the shit that he's seen (and participated in) since the first season, he is no longer an innocent. Plus, his mother was a junkie. J didn't have some idyllic childhood, he's probably always been around some kind of dark shit in his life. I imagine all of the Cody boys were once J,but you can't be around that kind of criminal activity and just get away clean, unscathed or unaffected. He was always going to be one of the Codys sooner or later. It's just the show started with the rest of the family already being hardened without witnessing how they got that way, which makes J's actions seem abrupt, I suppose, since we are seeing the changes in his character play out.
by Anonymous | reply 295 | August 15, 2018 8:00 PM |
I don’t think J’s descent was abrupt. It’s been well-developed by the writers. I just was disappointed he was so cold-blooded.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | August 15, 2018 8:08 PM |
I guess it seems cold blooded if you don't take into account that he needed to kill her and have her body disposed of without involving anyone else. Another form of death would still have resulted in J having to dispose of her body and that would be complicated to do without the help of someone else. It was a cruel way to kill her, but an efficient one for someone needing to act alone.
by Anonymous | reply 297 | August 15, 2018 8:16 PM |
Well, he maybe could have killed her first so she wouldn't have to get eaten by sharks.

Hatosy tweeted a goodbye to the little girl who plays Lena. It included a pic of him holding her.
He actually said the word goodbye and told her how she was able to bring out something in him & Pope he didn't know he had.
This is so confusing to me. Pope doesn't have legal rights to her. Smurf does & she took her back from the foster home. Why does Pope think Smurf & CPS will be copacetic with him returning her to that family?

R266 Yeah, I hated that they made J the killer. I thought he was the only sane one in the family. Not anymore though, lol. What bothered me the most though was the fact that he made such a rash decision. He's supposed to be the smart one. The lawyer was right when she said it will get back to Smurf. She will find out. He is just postponing the inevitable outcome. And now he's also a killer. So stupid.

While dramatic, J’s whispering his plans in Smurf’s ear while she slept was bullshit. No way the character would do that. On the other hand, his hatred of her works for me. She exiled his mother, left him at her mercy, used him, perved on him several time in the shower, threatened him, risked his life, and he probably knows, killed his father.
I think Smurf is truly impressed, almost proud, at how J ripped her off.

Linc isn't going to happen.
Deran already said (on the show) that he wasn't really into Linc. And he said this to Craig.
He obviously loves Adrian because he not only takes him to dinner with the family, but he also bought a house for him! Adrian recommended it to him, and Deran bought it for him. Well, actually for them. He even wanted to follow Adrian to South Africa for the surfing competition.
In any case, Linc was just a hookup. Adrian is Deran's true love.

I'm not sure why Frankie needed Craig for that job at all. She took care of everything and he added nothing. Of course, it was uneplained why the owner of the house placed such trust in her or how they had met.
People dumped "10 miles out" in the ocean usually do not wash up on shore.
It was stupid of J to broadcast his plans to Smurf like that. He had no idea if she was really asleep.
Wouldn't Deran understand the concept of a mortgage or financing even if he'd never done it? They make these guys sound so stupid sometimes. And to write a sales contract for that house, which looked unimpressive compared to the previous one, the agent would have required proof of funds, i.e., statements from a brokerage or bank account showing the funds are available. Having other properties as "collateral" is not the same.
I thought something worse would happen to that whore than being rough-fucked. Funny that Smurf would pick one who was older and rough-looking, as opposed to younger and prettier.
I would assume the police would have been on Pope's tail after the car accident and his attack on the other driver.
Poor Adrian. You know the fucking he'll get in prison won't be nearly as sweet as he gets from Deran.
Ugh. Of course some on DL would find the gross tattooed thug who came for Mia to be hot, but I guess this means we have to put up with her for another season. Would rather it be her getting whacked.
Lucy's son was pretty lucky. Doubt that would have happened in real life.

[quote] Lucy's son was pretty lucky. Doubt that would have happened in real life.
Totally! He would have been shot on the spot, in real life.
There's no way they could leave him alive, especially since he can identify both of them. He saw their faces so clearly.
[quote] I guess this means we have to put up with her for another season. Would rather it be her getting whacked.
I'd rather watch Mia for another season than that useless ugly skank beast who's sleazing around Craig. She just grosses me out.
Every time she's on the screen, I switch to something else. I can't stand her.
by Anonymous | reply 340 | August 22, 2018 4:29 PM |
We know Deran has not much knowledge about money, finances and bookkeeping, like not knowing about the pre-approval thing the realtor mentioned, but he's gotta know that paying cash for a $1M+ home is gonna be suspicious. Yeah, the realtor will keep her mouth shut because commission, but still. He's just lucky he got someone whose greed will keep him off the radar of IRS, DEA, Homeland Security, etc.
When the moving truck got to the house they were robbing, Frankie came out of the truck carrying a big printed sign, like you'd see on the side of a building. It looked like it had the info of a business - like a decorator or realtor. She was walking toward the house with it - what was that about? Why take it off the truck and inside the house?
I was baffled at the end scene - the silent stare-off between J and Pope. Was it supposed to be implied that Pope heard what J said, because it didn't look like he was anywhere near enough to hear that whispering. Also, I couldn't tell if the looks were "we're mortal enemies" or "I got your back, dude".
I was so hoping that Pete was taking Mia out to put a bullet in her. No such luck, but I got a chuckle out of him telling her that she's not in a remake of Romeo and Juliet. When that dude showed up in Mia's place I was thinking maybe brother or even husband. I'm curious to see if she sells J out or if it's true love. It's crazy that the two youngest people in this show have the highest total (on screen) body count: Mia = 2 and J = 1.
by Anonymous | reply 341 | August 22, 2018 4:34 PM |
I'm hopeful that's the last we see of Frankie.
It happens on this show, as well as others. The characters are seen hot-wiring a car in seconds, even new ones, which is impossible. But then, in all later scenes, the characters still using the car just get in and start it right up, as if they had the keys. Just a small irritation.

[quote]Just a small irritation.
No such thing on the DL.
by Anonymous | reply 343 | August 22, 2018 4:37 PM |
R341, the sign said something like "Another renovation by So-and-So Remodeling," which I'm assuming was for prying eyes in the neighborhood. The whole job seemed somewhat nebulous to me. You're going to fence furniture? You'd get pennies on the dollar. I guess if the wine was rare enough, you could get some cash, but again, like art, people who follow such things are aware of what's around and where it came from.

[quote]A reference to her saying that Morgan was a very smart woman.
No. When trying to suss out whether it was J or Morgan who stole the properties, Smurf told J he was a smart boy, but wondered if he were “smart enough.” The watch was her way of letting him know she knows he did it. As I said above, I think she is genuinely impressed. That what a Patek Philippe watch. It probably retails for at least $20,000.
My read on Pope at the end is that he will be J’s antagonist. He’s going to play the role of Smurf’s muscle. The writers present him as back under her thumb, to the extent he can be controlled at all.
by Anonymous | reply 345 | August 22, 2018 4:45 PM |
I agree, R345. Pope was putting J on notice: "I'm watching you and will destroy you if I have to."
by Anonymous | reply 346 | August 22, 2018 4:49 PM |
R341, people buy houses with “cash” (meaning no financing, not suitcases of bills) all the time. It’s not suspicious.
R339 is correct though. He would have to show to realtor and buyer’s agent that he has the cash available.
by Anonymous | reply 347 | August 22, 2018 4:51 PM |
R345: I disagree with your assessment of the Pope/J scenario. Pope has lost one child, Lena, and is ready to protect his remaining son, J. They are united in their hatred of Smurf for so many reasons and I read their long, silent scene as commitment to take her down.
by Anonymous | reply 348 | August 22, 2018 5:06 PM |
J being Pope's son is rank speculation, not something that has been established or ever discussed. This show typically telegraphs where it's going, so we would have had some clue about that before this.
by Anonymous | reply 349 | August 22, 2018 5:12 PM |
I've read a few commenters who think J is Pope's son, which means he impregnated his twin sister. Not seeing it. Nope.
by Anonymous | reply 350 | August 22, 2018 5:22 PM |
I don't think Pope is J's father but I 100% think Pope is on a mission to take down Smurf.
I buy him & J joining forces to get that done.
by Anonymous | reply 351 | August 22, 2018 5:26 PM |
Even though the majority on here believe it looked like J an Pope would unite against Smurf, I thought Pope looked at J like he wanted to hurt him.
by Anonymous | reply 352 | August 22, 2018 6:19 PM |
Same here, R352. It looked to me as if he were putting J on notice: "Watch yourself!"
by Anonymous | reply 353 | August 22, 2018 6:31 PM |
I think that if Pope wanted to hurt J, he would have done it right there and then.
Pope has no impulse control. If he saw J come out of Smurf's room while she was sleeping, I'm sure he would have confronted J.
The "look" that they gave each other tells me that they're probably on the same page. Remember, he told Lena that besides his twin sister, the only other person in the world who treated him like a normal human being, was Baz.
And now that he found out Smurf killed Baz, I think that he wants to get back at her.
by Anonymous | reply 354 | August 22, 2018 6:47 PM |
Craig is too hairless to be my type, but, boy, does he have a nice ass!
I would have been a little more cautious, however, about hanging around a house I've just robbed until the next morning, even if the owners are away.
by Anonymous | reply 355 | August 22, 2018 6:51 PM |
If they were on the same page, where’s the drama?
by Anonymous | reply 356 | August 22, 2018 6:52 PM |
Not only is there nothing to establish that Pope is J’s father, it has been all but settled that Baz was J’s father.
by Anonymous | reply 357 | August 22, 2018 6:55 PM |
Exactly, R356. If they were together on this, she'd already be dead. She's already handed out the properties, the other things are being fenced. They really don't need her anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 358 | August 22, 2018 6:55 PM |
Did Baz know that Lucy was such a crime kingpin? She didn't seem to be presented that way when he was with her. But seeing her in charge of what seems to have been a pretty big operation, it made me wonder how she could have been killed so easily. You'd think she would have had more security.

Cash purchase in real estate means certified check or bank draft. Cash in dollar bills is suspicious and rarely happens.
by Anonymous | reply 360 | August 22, 2018 7:08 PM |
No title company will accept cash as payment for a real estate transaction. Bank wire or cashier's check.

[quote]No. When trying to suss out whether it was J or Morgan who stole the properties, Smurf told J he was a smart boy, but wondered if he were “smart enough.”
Immediately before Smurf told J he was a smart boy, she said that Morgan was a very smart woman.

Is it over yet?
by Anonymous | reply 363 | August 22, 2018 8:00 PM |
Smurf was obviously on to J. When she and Pope visited the old notary, she recognized it as being in J's old neighborhood, someplace he would have been familiar with. When she checked out Morgan's place, she also realized that Morgan had not been planning on leaving town. She knows that J killed Morgan to hide the fact that he had been stealing from Smurf.

Thanks for clarifying the cash purchase situation for the home. I've never bought a home, so I thought Deran was planning on showing up with a bag of $$ to cover the purchase.
by Anonymous | reply 365 | August 22, 2018 8:15 PM |
I think Craig was left there in order to hang the job on him. He was the last one seen on the property and he wasnt wearing gloves when he left.
//- they rushed the other endings, imo.
-// Pope and Jay were staring each other down like boxers before a match. Smurf has positioned them as rivals. If Pope snaps on Jay, itll be for his own reasons. Im curious to see if Pope enlists Craig and Deran to get at both Jay and Smurf.
-// so Mia is just a hired gun. Smurf told her uncle to kill Baz, so she did. I bet she didnt know the connection untill after. Not surprised to see the skivvy bf appear, juvy hustlers. Mia is as reptilian as Smurf; dead eyed and souless.
-// Poor Adrian. How long has he been a mule? I wonder if Deran will b suportive or hypocrytical.
by Anonymous | reply 366 | August 22, 2018 8:17 PM |
Smurf is smart but I'm surprised she didn't put a tracker on J's vehicle and then she'd she his fancy new apartment where Mia is living and see that he's visiting that bowling alley. That would definitely show her that he's knows how to handle the purchase of properties.

Adrian should have stuffed the drugs up his ass.
by Anonymous | reply 372 | August 22, 2018 8:50 PM |
It doesn't really make sense plot-wise for some drug smugglers to force a suspiciously-overweight surf board on Adrian for his travels, as their whole purpose is to get the drugs to some buyer safely. They might as well have put a sign on it saying, "Check me for contraband!"
Plus, is there a shortage of illicit drugs in South Africa? I would think you can find them there just like you can anywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 373 | August 22, 2018 9:56 PM |
My thought is that Pope and J looked at each other as mortal enemies. I saw no alliance at all.
My thought is Smurf was the one who had someone plant the drugs on the surf board. Deran is her baby and his independence is something she wants to destroy.

by Anonymous | reply 376 | August 23, 2018 3:23 PM |
I'm not sure how anyone could think Smurf planted the drugs in the surfboard. There is absolutely no connection whatsoever.
by Anonymous | reply 377 | August 23, 2018 5:24 PM |
For the "cash" reference. We're talking about Deran. He's an idiot. There is no way that guy is bringing a cashier's check or a wire transfer to a closing. He's asking Smurf for the money. The guy thinks he can show up with a wheelbarrow of $100s.
by Anonymous | reply 378 | August 24, 2018 2:11 AM |
That's why you have a realtor, to educate you. You've obviously never bought a house. There are a lot of steps to follow, even with a cash deal. It will be made very clear to you what you need to do in order to close.
by Anonymous | reply 379 | August 24, 2018 3:19 PM |
R379, I have bought a house. Deran has not. I suggest you replay the episode. Deran asks Smurf while in her kitchen for $1.3 million. We know from other episodes that Smurf stashes cash in storage sheds or in pool drains. The money is not in the banking system.
Therefore, Deran truly believes he can show up to a closing with CASH. The realtor has no clue that Deran literally means CASH. Even if the realtor says, "hey, go put that cash back in the trunk of your car." What, is Deran going to go to the bank and say, "hey, I'd like a cashier's check for this (wheelbarrow full of cash)."
At best, Deran should be renting. Buying isn't plausible.

Do you think J did it? He said he was gonna take everything Smurf ever loved. Maybe he started with taking Adrian from Deran? Maybe he knew Deran would blame Smurf?
by Anonymous | reply 384 | August 26, 2018 5:47 PM |
There was no drug planting. Adrian was intentionally smuggling. They showed it in a previous episode.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | August 26, 2018 5:49 PM |
J is not an omniscient criminal mastermind. He wouldn't have a clue about Adrian's travels. Interaction between J and his uncles when not on a job is obviously very limited.
I'm wondering now why the fuck Leary was brought on board this season. Such a lame plotline and he turns my stomach. Did the producers think we needed another male character since Baz was killed off? WRONG.
