Not much acting going on in that particular scene, especially on his part, since he's in the passive, bottom position.

Soap acting is hard. They do something like 80 -120 pages a day. Now they don't have time to rehearse and they don't get director's notes. So a lot of actors' tics and crutches end up on screen. Bill Hayes gave an interview were he said in the old days they would rehearse the show at least 5 times before they ever rolled tape. We're lucky that we get the decent performances that we do get, tics and all.

Something is just weird about Marci quitting. Has she been on the show a full two years yet? Don't most newbie contracts last three? I thought the show was prepping for Billy to leave the role of Chad by bringing on Stefan. But they have so completely mangled that character so far - Stefan is pathetic, basically falling in love with the symptom of a woman's mental illness and preferring to keep her sick in order to be with his 'love' - he came on strong and is now just sad and desperate to save the love of his life that he's known for about six weeks.

I think Stefan's obsession with Abigail is a callback to Stefano's obsession with Marlena.

But anyway, if you read some of the interviews the Marci has given recently you could tell that she was not thrilled. There was one article were she praising Tyler Christopher and the writing, but says that because of the budget they are restrained at how far and what they can do. She also gave another interview about the schedule being so fast that she doesn't have time to take a breath between characters. She got a couple of guest starring gigs in primetime and realized that she preferred the slower pace and the rehearsal time that they can't afford on soaps.

Also, while I not sure about this, I get the feeling that the fans have not been very nice to her.

Very possible the show got James back, at least for a stint. Those in the know are saying so.
