One nuance that is just lost on the DL but what I've observed in the industry and in theater overall is that many - not all, but many - actors have....let's call it a bisexual gene. It doesn't mean they're always bi, but I've seen guys do a role and.....it's hard to explain, but it's more than just immersing themselves in a culture or the identity of a role. It's in the actual art of acting, the ability to get into the head of a character, have deep empathy for that character, live that character's truth, etc. etc. etc.

Point being, for some actors I don't think a simple "gay" or "straight" label works. There's just a fluidity there, and the and/or channels most other people are in don't seem to fit them very well.

The story was that Scott knew Knight had a bit of a crush on him and kind of teased him and was a bit cruel about it. He was not on the show much longer, but the rumor is that he was let go because the actor playing Zach did not want a son that old. Eventually Scott was gone and his TV father got Scott's love interest who was a bit younger than him.

Liza wound up being like an off-brand Erica.

Irene Dailey crushed on Susan Keith. It was obvious from their scenes. Dailey played it like Aunt Lez ached sexually for Cecile.

Also, Liza just seemed like she came from a different era of the show. When she came back, Lucci, Eva LaRue, Sydney Penny, Cady McClain, Ripa, Robin Mattson, and Teresa Blake were the main female attractions. Even Barr began to be sidelined. The character didn't work as a spoiler for Tad/Dixie. She really didn't come into her own until they paired her with Adam.

It's interesting that many of the older women (most deceased) listed here were some of the funniest women on daytime TV. Lois Kibbee, Irene Dailey, Elizabeth Lawrence and Constance Ford all had great comic timing. When Elizabeth played Bess Lowell on "Guiding Light", her character flirted with Rick Heart's Alan Michael whom she said reminded her of her old boss (obviously something more) Brandon who basically dropped her when she became middle aged. She told him that if she was 50 years younger, they would make history, and you could tell that Elizabeth said that line in a sultry manner. Lois as Geraldine Whitney could be heartbreaking when her character went through something tragic, furious when somebody betrayed a loved one, yet very droll when dealing with Raven's antics. Irene obviously loved playing the comically busybody Aunt Liz (using a glass at a door as a gossip finding prop), and even though her character of Ada was often tender or blunt spoken, Constance Ford could slip in humor when the situation called for it. They should have had an Emmy or Soap Opera Digest awards during their day for scene stealing. Those four ladies were a lot of fun to watch on a daily basis, and especially in re-visits with many of their episodes available to watch years after their deaths.

Robert Gentry died in September according to latest issue of SAG-AFRRA magazine. He died 12 days before his 82nd birthday.

I can't find any obituary online so he may have not had any surviving family members or partner. He was a pretty low-key guy though, very rarely gave interviews and totally dropped off the radar after retiring.
