Gay or bi? I go with bi leaning straight.

Natalie Woods daughters (when they were in high school) would tell everyone he was gay.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 20, 2018 11:50 PM |
It's a fact r1 that Natalie divorced him after catching him in bed with a man. But I highly doubt as protective and defensive the daughters were of him, they would say anything negative about dad. Natasha, who is his non bio child, speaks very highly and loves him and calls him "dad"

They didn't say anything negative about him. They said he was gay.
You're straight, aren't you?

Years ago, back in the 70s, there was an underground book by a hustler who discussed various stars. He devoted a chapter to Bob Wagner.

I always assumed he was a pretty boy available for anything...but basically gay.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 21, 2018 2:27 AM |
I think he was gay. He had an affinity for scarves like no other.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 21, 2018 4:24 AM |
I'm trying to make sense of his neckwear. It's neither ascot nor cravat. Just a kerchief tied like a ladies scarf.

RJ was in a TV with Eddie Albert?

Debbie Reynolds claimed he was the love of her life. They were together as young adults in Hollywood. She wanted to get married, he didn't but she wouldn't sleep with him until then so he moved on.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 21, 2018 11:35 AM |
All these Old Hollywood gays bearding for each other: RJ and Debbie. RJ and Stanwyck. It's all so laughable.

Was Natalie totally straight?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 21, 2018 5:46 PM |
Natalie was straight but preferred gay or bi men due to a violent rape at 14. Before falling in love with RJ she fell in love with Raymond Burr, I kid you not.
Bi, leaning gay. Really, mostly gay and needed to beard. Let's be honest. If actors were able to be out, I have no doubt he wouldn't bother with women.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 21, 2018 5:54 PM |
I do not get an entire gay vibe from RJ. I get bi more.

2) Barbara Stanwyck
3) Spencer Tracy

The only 'lesbian' thing I remember about Natalie was that she was exceptionally close to her friend Norma. The two were seen in situations several times* that I know of where it could have been perceived as sexual; in all likelihood they were just very close girlfriends. Women are afforded a physical closeness that men are not. The two had known one another since the mid 50s from working at WARNER BROTHERS. Norma was one of Natalie's bridesmaids at her 2nd wedding, that to British theatrical agent Richard Gregson in 1969..
When Norma died around '73, Natalie was devastated. Norma wasn't that old, in her early 40s I think. Cancer of the uterus or something. Natalie paid Norma's medical bills as well as for her funeral. I don't know whether Natalie had left a dictate in her will or if was by RJ's decision or happenstance but when Natalie died in 1981 she was buried in the same cemetery and very closely to Norma.
* the two were witnessed skinny dipping together several times. Again, in all likelihood it was nothing but could be taken that way.

Natalie's mother Maria did not like RJ back then. Years later during the 2nd marriage she didn't verbalize her feelings as much about him. Yes, Maria was relatively vocal about her suspicions about RJ in the 50s. Funny, but Maria adored Natalie's friend Tab Hunter; Tab & Natalie were set up for dates for several years by WB. I'm sure everyone 'in the know' back then knew about him too. That didn't seem to bother Maria, but of course he didn't propose marriage to her daughter.

That article fails to mention that Webb was a big star in Broadway musicals. He didn't start out as a Hollywood character actor.
He introduced Irving Berlin's Easter Parade in As Thousands Cheer.
He also was so close to his mother that when she died when he was in his 60s he went into a deep mourning from which he never recovered.
Noel Coward made some sort of remark of what a tragedy it was to be orphaned in your 60s.

Look, keep in mind that Natalie wasn't aware of RJ' bisexuality until she caught him which led to the couple's separation and divorce, even if she'd heard others suspicions beforehand.
Natalie's 2nd husband was straight as were Warren Beatty with whom she was heavily involved. David Niven Jr, Michael Caine, her onetime fiance Laddy from South America & the other men with whom she was involved between marriages.
Lana tells a tale about how once (Lana) was told that Natalie & RJ were getting married that 2nd time in 1972 she took Natalie aside and asked why since she knew what had ruined the 1st marriage. Natalie told Lana: "Sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don't....." which could mean that she decided she could live with that his secret; many women do.

R12 I believe he wore scarfs because of his tremendous guilt over killing Natalie Wood. The scarfs knew the real deal, and would be used in a protective manner for him. I’m guilty, here’s my noose.

Natalie is at her most beautiful in her worst movie 'Penelope.'
I think that caused a severe depression for her.

by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 21, 2018 11:29 PM |
Natalie fooled with the ladies as well. She was introduced into Hollywood culture at a very young age so all she new was that hypersexual environment. They all slept around like crazy with each other.

by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 22, 2018 12:02 AM |
I think RJ and Walken were having sex, Natalie was getting drunk, and fell. Walken has never talked about that night publicly, right? He was married, so an affair with either of them would have been an issue.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 22, 2018 12:06 AM |
Walken's salad days were long over at that point. Wagner must have been 'I'm horny and you're available, it's dark so I'll just think of a young Bob Conrad.'

It's accepted that Kirk Douglas raped Natalie as a teenager and she supposedly could never again be in his presence without trembling. So, how do we explain this photo?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 22, 2018 1:52 PM |

Whenever Natalie would run into him socially she would put on what she called 'the badge' (her frozen smile). Clearly RJ was helping her through this one.

Natalie was there to receive an award, not make a 'scene'. Had she noticeably kept her distance, it would have been questioned. End of story.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | March 22, 2018 1:56 PM |
R73, Look again, dear. The award is inscribed to Kirk. Natalie could have easily withdrawn from presenting it with George Jessel.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 22, 2018 2:00 PM |
Funny thing is NO ONE ever said it was Kirk who raped Natalie. He is guilty by general opinion. Lol
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 22, 2018 2:12 PM |
R75, Lana Wood knows it was Kirk, so does RJ, so does Mart Crowley . . . so do many others who knew Natalie.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | March 22, 2018 2:17 PM |
Human behavior doesn't fit as neatly as all that R70 . Rape victims are only now feeling able to come forward in the endless cases of powerful men abusing women ( Cosby, Weinstein etc etc etc ) and they have sometimes continued association with their rapists through complicated circumstances and because women have always been expected to put up and shut up, a situation not helped by the 'how come they waited so long?why didn't they fight back?' brigade. That's the situation today, take it back 50 years and think what the reaction would be.

The RJ Wagner, Eddie Albert, Sharon Gless show was called "Switch." It was a detective series that ran for three seasons on NBC from 1975-1978. RJ played a debonair reformed conman who partners with a retired cop, who once arrested him, in forming a detective agency. Sharon Gless played the naive, bumbling receptionist/assistant. I remember as a young gayling watching this solely for Wagner, who I thought was so damned handsome. The show was created by Greg A. Larson, who created "The Rockford Files" a year before, and whom James Garner accused of recycling Rockford scripts for "Switch" and other Larson productions.6
