The show has to watch it's budget, which means that they are very strict about contracts and guarantees and even when they have the recurring characters on. When you don't see characters it means one of two things. One they are dangerously close to exceeding their guarantee or two they are not being played as much to save up for when they are heavy in the story. When you are not seeing recurring characters as often, that usually means schedules didn't work out or the money isn't there.

Most people think headwriting a soap is about writing a long story and mapping it out. In addition to that, they have to plan their storyline while balancing, actors' schedules, contract guarantees, and even what sets they can use on what days while being mindful of other budget aspects.

The thing I hate about the alter story-lines is that they are a crutch that the writers fall back on with that character anytime they are looking for a ratings bump and each time they return to that well it is usually more contrived and repetitive.

I was annoyed when they spent a good year finally resolving Vickie's alters in OLTL and did some pretty solid work, only to undo it years later by having Nickie come out again as basically a cartoon character. It did not help that they had Jess develop alters around that time with some contrived insult to history of things that had happened in Jessica's childhood.

I like the story. I think the problem that some people are having involves the actress. If this were Mansi or the Pretty Liars Abby, everyone would be on board with this story.

Marci may not be a Sleestack, but this story is still fun and watchable. It's not going to win Emmys.

On Bravo last week were the first MarDar episodes, with the 09/27/2011 episode being the very first scenes between Deidre and Chandler.

Wow! They clicked together from the very start! Gammy Marlena could already tell that Will was a closeted gay.

There's a great scene where Sami lets EJ see his kids, Johnny and Sydney, briefly at the Horton Town Square opening gala. James Scott is a terrific actor! I wish he would come back, even if only to reunite EJami forever.

I really, really think FCF's weight has contributed to the direction of the gay storyline.

Christopher Sean admitted that he'd gained some weight himself but that he worked hard to get rid of it quickly. And then once Ron's material started airing, Paul was once again a believable foil for the WilSon couple.

Chandler is still handsome and fairly thin. He's lost weight since rejoining the show as well.

But FCF? He just doesn't fit into this picture.

Chad and Stefan aren't fighting over plus-sized Anna; they're fighting over wispy thin Amy Steel. That's soap opera!

For instance, you have to deal with a stream of social media posts about why Jeanne is now called Teresa. 60 year old viewers may know who Noelle Curtis is, but no one else does and you to spend time you don't have explaining who she is and who she's connected and if you get one fact wrong then there will be hell to pay. Days fans have been screaming for Sarah Horton to return. Every time that character is pitched Ken vetoes it. Why? Ask him. I don't know. But there is a lot of good things coming your way on Days. Greg Rikaart Days of Our Lives Character and Airdate Revealed!?

It's been several months since Greg Rikaart's Days of Our Lives casting was announced. Nothing much has been reported since then until now. While it has been kept under wraps when he will debut and whom he will play, reports indicate that Rikaart will be playing a character named Leo and he's scheduled to make his Salem debut on March 27, 2018 (these, however, are unconfirmed reports at the moment). Rikaart is best known for playing the role of Kevin Fisher on 'The Young and the Restless'. 'Days' airs weekdays on NBC, be sure to tune in.

Since when does a DA have authority over a police department? And then there's no one at the Salem PD in charge, not even an an assistant commissioner or a high-ranking officer? Then there Commissioner Brady herself. She's been in the position for less than month Salem-time and she's out of town and seemingly incommunicado, not even for important police business? She can't be reached at all under any circumstance? Stupid writing all around.
