SNL to showcase homophobes Migos
Never especially gay friendly, SNL seems to be sending gays a clear message to the gay audience. Last November outspoken homophobe Dave Chappelle hosted SNL and his opening monologue contained jokes about the Pulse nightclub shooting which took the lives of 49 gay men and women. Chappelle also lied about the motives of terrorist Omar Mateen.
As Chappelle was awarded with an Emmy for his appearance, there doesn't seem to be much motivation for SNL to do the right thing.

I don't watch SNL so I double-checked that. No he didn't lie about the motives.
Chappelle like many other foolish people (including lots of DL'ers) just believed the bullshit lies from Obama/Lynch/Comey who purposely misled the public about Omar's motives until not even they could keep up the lies.

R7 the closeted gay theory had long been disproved by then (though admittedly the media was reticent to put the blame where it belonged).
But even presuming Chappelle believed that, who thinks a deadly terrorist attack on a gay nightclub is fodder for a comedy monologue? A homophobe.

OP, I would have agreed with you in the past, but SNL has been very gay friendly this year and have featured some very funny gay themed skits; not the frat boy sort of years past,
Having said that I can't stand Migos. This will be their second appearance this year. But they are HUGE right now, and frankly, SNL needs that sort of thing in order to stay relevant. On a much happier note, my very favorite black man, Charles Barkley, is hosting tonight so I am awaiting Sir Charles with great anticipation.

DL has no room to talk about homophobia. As mush as people on DL disparage minorities and POC and women and the trans community. You can't say that Migos are homophobic. You first have to get you're own house in check first. I get what you're saying. But I see a lot of disparagement right here on DL on a daily basis of people who aren't considered to be dime peace gay white men. It goes both ways. You can't get mad at others about the very thing you take part in towards other groups as well. Self reflection is a must.

As a gay black man who has followed Chappelle and his work for years, I have never been offended by his comedy. Nor has he struck me as homophobic. Perhaps the Chappelle trolls are jealous of his success. His two most recent stand-up specials (Equanimity & Bird Revelation) have bitter truths in them that still manage to be both thought-provoking and funny AF. Goddamn, there are some hateful ass people on this site! Also, Migos isn't a person; they are a trio which includes members Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff. Takeoff's pants were so tight on SNL you can see some VPL. Not that I was looking, but I couldn't help it! THAT is the only good thing I can say about their performance.

I'd love the Chappelle expert at R54 to explain the "brilliance" of Dave's rambling bit about Pulse on SNL.
There's no humor to be found in a deadly terrorist massacre in a gay bar unless you deeply hate gay people. Chappelle slipped and showed his true self, which was pretty ugly.
So since his Pulse ramblings were unfunny in the extreme, what was their purpose in a standup comedy routine? The only possible rationale is the one offered by R50. It was an attempt to muddy the true reason for the shootings.

R66 what I posted at R23 is the absolute truth about DL. You can get mad all you want and block me etc. But everything I said was the truth. It's okay for gay people particularly "gay white men" to disparage minorities and women and other groups. But God forbid anyone say anything out the way about gay people. We all know it's the truth. People tend to be very sensitive when it's them in the hot seat. But could give zero fucks when the shoe is on the other foot. And love to say know one gets a pass on DL. And yet you're all in you're feelings about a stupid group and comments they made that hurt you're whittle feelings!!!! Get over it and get over yourself! How do you think me and other young black men feel when we hear the fucking president of the United states calling young black men "son's of bitches?" And know one does absolutely nothing about it at all. And the fact that that can come from the mouth of a sitting US president in 2017/2018 and we have to just take it and deal with that. And you're crying over a group with a stupid name like migos because they said something you didn't like. You better grow a thick skin, find a bridge and get over it fast. Because the migos should be the least of you're worries. People say shit I don't like all the time but guess what. I'm not going to sit and cry about it. Life goes on. It must be so nice to be so privileged that you're biggest problem is something a group said about gay people and you we're so offended that you're blocking people on an anonymous gossip site because you can't stand to hear another person's opinion without getting offended about it. You and R65 seem to be some over privileged sheltered weak Bitches. You better stay in those safe spaces. Because this world is going to eat the two of you alive. Unless you're the same person.

I’ve read a lot of the DL over the years and do not know what you mean by racist posts.
If you mean that some guys are attracted to white only, or a combination of other races, but find other races less attractive, that isn’t racism. That is honesty about sexual attraction.
If you mean calling out the stupid things that SJWs do, like having chefs fired for cooking sould food for black history month, that isn’t racism either, that is just honesty.
Racism implies that segregation and discrimination has occurred or is desired. I’ve never come across any post to even hint at that.
Those complaining about racism on the DL are either trolls, homophobes, or little teet-sucking cunts crying because someone has a different point of view.

As far as Chappelle goes, I didn't get anything homophobic or offensive about his SNL monologue at all regarding the Pulse shootings. He was making fun of the shooter, and his irrational hatred towards gay people. He wasn't making fun of gay people, he was making fun of the shooter and ISIS.

He indeed said that DL was one of the last sites where you can say whatever you want to say without being banned. He specifically said that he can use words like "chink" here and it's okay. As a gay white male I've experienced way more homophobia from my "white brethren" than any black folks ever. I'm wondering if it's life experience combined with ingrained societal racism we've all been conditioned by that make a lot of gay white people racist?!?! I've worked at places where I'm the only white person and 99% of the people had no problem with me being gay. I would factor in class also as we were all working class folks and had that in common. I think a lot of the racist gays here are middle/upper middle class and not used to experiencing people different than themselves.. I'm thinking it's also how they carry themselves..
I was attacked at gay pride years ago by a homophobic asshole and the only people who came to my defense were a black couple ( male and female) pushing a baby in a stroller. Cops came and I got thrown out and the black couple was threatened with expulsion if they didn't "calm" down.. My experience has been that black folks have a more live and let live attitude. This could be only me, but that's been my experience.. There have been countless other times when I was treated with kindness and respect by black folks..
All the hate filled, bitter, angry, sad racist gays on here probably should take a good look at themselves and their actions. Ask yourself why are you so angry and hate filled?!? I doubt you'll ever change, and I for one could care less...

is it racist to call out a black homophobe when he is...black.
so odd how one minority chooses to pick on another. never understood that....

I'm glad someone bumped this thread. I had forgotten just how funny that monologue was.

Alec Baldwin now says there have been lots of gays on SNL--they're just in the closet!

Funny all this talk about SNL having a gay problem - I've long known that 30 Rock is the MOST homophobic show in recent tv history. And now I realise the link to SNL (other than Tina Fey) is of course Lorne Michaels. Seriously, I ADORE 30 Rock, it's one of my all time favorites, but it's so anti gay it's laughable. EVERY SINGLE MENTION of homosexuality is met with the most outdated, cliched, spiteful cliches to do with being super effeminate, super bitchy, and super promiscuous. It's the one reason that show won't age well.

R112 Thank God I never watched 30 Rock. The name was so self-referential it turned me off.
Nice that you excluded Fey as homophobic. Hell, she still answers LiLo's phone calls, whos a gay icon per DL.

R112 - you're kidding right? That's the way all characters were treated on the show. It's what made the show funny.
