I love watching Chandler's scenes. His reactions are great. While I don't agree, I wouldn't care one single bit if Will and Doc just repeated the same scene over and over again. I love them together. Seeing Casey Diedrick's career makes me hope that Chandler is out there and trying to branch out. As much as I love him on Days, he needs to be out of soaps soon before he gets stuck.

I am going to say this politely. If you think Ron's Days is boring and slow then you will never be happy with anything. I want to know what soaps you've been watching that are exciting and perfect every day, because I can guarantee you that there has never been one that has ever existed since they first appeared in 1951. Ron is the first writer in God knows how long to make this show feel like a cohesive well oiled soap opera again. The writing is so good now that I don't notice the crappy sets. There are Ron haters who will never be happy with anything connected to Ron. They complain about everything simply because Ron is the one who wrote it. They were around when he was HW at OLTL. They moved over to GH to complain. Now there's here at Days.

RC may not be the best, but there are a lot worse writers for soaps, and DAYS has had most of them. I'm glad he has made the show more watchable for me. At least stories are happening. More than one at a time.

In fairness to the the Ron hating trolls, it was not only them complaining on line that got Ron fired from GH; the ratings took a big nosedive over the last year or so he was with the show. However, I blame that more on Geary, Benard and the insane mob taking over the show and also demands both actors made as though they were the writers. In the end, they were the ones who made the show unwatchable and Ron paid the price. He originally was pretty good on the show and made Sonny and the mob part of the cast not the whole show. Overall, I think Days has improved a lot; at least storylines wrap up (the John/ISA story) instead of going on and on and if Claire blows Rafe's secret at the wedding that also will be fast for most soaps.

I think the issue some have with Ron is that he was salty on Twitter and didn't put up with people coming for him. But his record can't be ignored. He made OLTL the most watched soap on ABC. He saved GH from cancellation. And he's made Days watchable. But even if you hate everything he does, you have to admit that this is still better than Dena's nonsense or Josh Griffith.

Ron's shows are never perfect but it went from F minus with Dena to a B minus with Ron.

They still need to smooth out some bumpy stories, and the show could really use a character or two with the oomph and pizzazz that Sami and EJ had. But it's much better than it was.

I cannot watch some of the Salem simpletons. No change in HW can make me watch the Fil-A Chick, for instance. Or Hope. Or anyone attached to either one. And the plot device of "I was under Stefano's control" can make me watch this shitshow. It has nothing to do with Ron.

That said, I will try to sit through an entire episode, but it has to be an episode of GOOL rather than DOOL.

I've been a viewer since I was five years old and yes Elder Gay I remember the classic DAYS. This ain't it. I came back for Will. Period. The other stories are just so/so. I liked Eric and Nicole and I wanna hurl at Eric stuck with Chick Fil Lay Jen. She's 50 years old and should act her age, instead of the town ingenue.

I think you've hit on something R119. The show does need a dynamic leading man. I like Stefan, but he's playing that brooding Bruce Wayne somewhere between light and dark prince that he played on GH. He's an interesting character, but hasn't popped yet. The show does need a dynamic female lead. I would recast Abigail. The show also needs a scrappy hungry female character looking to make it big to drive story.

Like currently, Will and Paul are embedded into a bigger story, so you end up having to watch more of the show to get what the heck is going on. Luckily, I also like Tripp and he provides some eye candy for the trouble. Have to say a spy-vs-spy story doesn't really work with just a lot of talking heads and clumsy "action" scenes.

I don't "hate" Ron -- I very much enjoyed his OLTL. And he's made improvements at DOOL, for sure. But I'm surprised that so much of it is still so very dull. I like a lot of the characters and actors, including some that are pretty universally derided around here, but the stories they're in just aren't grabbing me. Some individual elements, on the other hand, are quite good. I very much liked last week's conversation between DA Trask and Stefan, and the way the Gabigail reveal was directed.

I stopped watching during the gay purge of 2015. I came back when Sonny returned but left again when it became obvious Dena wasn't interested in writing for the character. I only hope Freddie will not re-sign so I can put this mess behind me for good. Thanks Days, you're nothing if not predictable.

R151 The reason that WilSon no longer works is because neither character was what they were back when original WilSon were at their peak before Chandler left. With Strudel as Will, the couple was already on the verge of divorce... the show just made them sort of reconcile via a phone message to make the death of Strudel more tragic. So their divorce now is not as out of nowhere as some die-hard WilSon fans are claiming. I also get the feeling Chandler has more rapport with Chris rather than Freddie, so Ron may have taken that extra chemistry into account to push Horita (at least for now).

Ron stated one of his goals was to right the wrong done to Wilson or words to that effect. He has failed so far though I'm not sure if it's him or Corday/NBC. The guys have pretty much been in the background for the past two months while this silly Andre murder mystery and poisoning of Steve has played endlessly. My problem is Will is not Will so anything he's doing matters little so the story is just spinning on a broken wheel. They can conveniently not deal with his adulterous behavior, the awful things he did to Paul and his mother and toss it off as "I know I did some bad stuff so maybe it's for the best that I don't remember". He protests that he doesn't want to hurt Sonny anymore then takes up with the very man he cheated with and who up until his return, was engaged to Sonny. So much for that. Paul, too has professed his undying devotion to Sonny pretty much from day one yet now wants to move on with Sonny's ex-husband. Can you say revenge? Up to this point, Paul has been portrayed as a white knight kind of guy yet to make the story work they're throwing him under the same bus that ran over Wilson.

R157 I think Amnesia Will is very much in character, but it's the pre-Sonny Will. He's snarky, self-righteous, a bit devious and kind of selfish. Coming out, falling in love with Sonny and having Ari softened him (and made him boring in some ways), but since Amnesia Will doesn't remember fall in love or being a dad, his regressing to pre-Sonny Will makes sense. So Ron is going back to basic and instead of falling in love with Sonny, this Will is drawn toward Paul. And Will gets to write a new story in his journal. With Chandler staying on the show for the foreseeable future, I think this is a great twist for a long term storyline: Will building a new different life in Salem, yet with the possibility of his memories returning hanging over it.

I would have watched if Strudel came back. Chandler is boring.

R157 Corday is part of the blame for what happened to Wilson. He was making changes that he liked and it was also partly due to Corday being upset that Alison was leaving the show at that time since her character Sami brought in many viewers to the show.

Ken has bit of an obsession with Dena to that point that he made Tomsell revive some of her ideas and stories.

It was nice to see Maggie and Julie sharing several scenes together with lengthy dialogue. Usually they're paired with younger characters, acting against the latter's troubles and turmoils and being a sounding board, especially in Julie's case. As two of the older actors in the cast as well as two of the longer-lasting characters, it was good to see them have significant airtime. Also, unless it's her usual style and I simply didn't notice, Eve looked very nice together (chic hairstyle, very nice dress).

The baby who would became known as Ari was originally supposed to be a prop for Gabi just as Will at one point was supposed to be a prop for Gabi and Will was supposed to have very little to almost no involvement with his child. Ken made TomSell resurrect Dena's idea of Will having a baby although with a few changes that were made. Ken had also been angry that Dena got fired.

Part of it as someone mentioned before is the complications of all the “commercial” music they used back then. I believe Days even played popular music in Shenanigans (the Salem bar and restaurant owned by Chris Kositchek and his hot ward Pete Jannings) I think you could access the Salem tunnels from Shenanigans.

What I hated most about the Eric and Jennifer scenes was the latter's usual high and mighty attitude toward everyone who is a non-Horton. Even Tom and Alice weren't so judgmental!

The singing on Days didn't start until Sergio's (later Doug's Place) and Doug singing The Look of Love for Julie and The Most Beautiful Girl In the World also. Robert (Robert Clary) sang some French ditties and the simply hamfised Kaye Stevens sang hits of the day. This started in 1971.

R546, Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place suffered the terrible tragedy of having the original music (which was great) be replaced with generic muzak. There's one group that is such a poor man's Blink 182.

I'll admit, yesterday was the fist time I found Eric and Jennifer semi interesting. But it was short lived, when their 3 minutes "fight" was over, and they were acting like teenagers again! Please end them soon! Find them both someone new.

When Days expanded to an hour in 1975, it was only the second show to go to 60 minutes. TPTB were unsure whether viewers would stick around for a full 60 minutes, so they made Doug singing a regular thing. Bill Hayes explained in his autobiography that Doug was already singing periodically when the script called for it (sometimes to Julie, sometime at Doug's Place), but they made singing an (almost) daily thing.

At this point, the Doug's Place set became the central set of the show (like the Brady Pub set is now) as all the characters congregated there.

Bill Hayes would sing a song while they had all sorts of audience reactions shots, longing glances across the room and flashbacks to let you know what various characters were feeling as Doug sang the song.

They also had Patty Weaver, as Trish Clayton, singing at the club too. Plus, as had been mentioned, Jeri Clayton (Kaye Stevens) and Robert LeClair (Robert Clary) would also sing some too.

Kaye Stevens did not endear herself to other daytime actors. She took out a BILLBOARD near Hollywood and Vine citing her acting chops for an Emmy nom - which she didn't get.
