Any RDJ stories- good or bad? Is the a sassy bitch like iron man or not?

by Anonymousreply 2February 13, 2018 12:25 AM

Has anyone ever met any of The Chew hosts (not Mario)? I like them, and want them to be nice.

by Anonymousreply 3February 13, 2018 12:28 AM

They are nice, R3.

So the other thread people were commenting on Cilla Black.

She truly was the most revolting human being. My Grandparents lived near her home in Denham Bucks. Black lived directly opposite the Aerodrome. Black didn’t often venture out locally, but if she did happen to appear in a shop or restaurant was always arrogant, loud and rude to everyone.

Yes the scouse accent was entirely false. Watch her very early interviews from the 60s on You Tube, she never had that voice then. She started using that extreme scouse accent when she got her own TV show and in the end she was just making it more and more over the top. In reality she actually sounded more like Joan Collins. But she had that horrible arrogant edge to her speech. She was really utter scum with no breeding. She thought arrogance and crass displays of wealth made her look classy.

Back in the 80s her son killed a guy by reckless driving, Black and her spiv husband never even spoke to the boys family but sold a story about how devastated they were for their son!

Everyone at LWT hated her. She was notorious for being drunk on champagne and would be horrible to staff and crew. Blind Date and Surprise contestants/guests would also be looked down upon by her backstage. On one occasion she told the studio audience of Blind Date the women panelist’s were a bunch of dogs!!

By the end of her career (last 15 years) she couldn’t get as many jobs as people wouldn’t work with her. She’d get stuff through Paul O’Grady who can be equally unpleasant.

Notice how when Lynda Bellingham died the amount of famous people at her funeral was astonishing. Bellingham was genuinely well liked by everyone who worked with her. By contrast, notice all Cilla Black got at her funeral was O’Grady, Biggins and Carol Voderman! She didn’t have that many friends as she’d shat on so many people over the years.

She bleeted on about Liverpool but left 50 years ago and barely went back. Because Liverpool made so much of her dying and wanted her funeral there, she’s now rotting away in her parents grave. The karma is someone found the grave and stole all the memorial brasses to flog on!!

kd lang rear-ended me on Mullholland while we were at a red light. It was barely more than a tap, so I wasn't too concerned. (I also had no idea it was her at the time.)

I got out of the car to check the damage and this woman comes barreling out of her front seat, all aggressive and angry, expecting a fight of some sort. I could already see there wasn't any damage so I was calm and friendly (and it was HER fault). Once I got close enough to her I realized who she was, and she calmed down a little bit, but was still super unfriendly and not terribly apologetic. I told her not to worry, that there didn't seem to be any damage to either car, didn't even let on that I knew who she was (and honestly, I didn't really care) and I basically had to tell her- you can just get back in your car and keep driving. I'm not going to do anything. Unclench your fists. And she did, again, no apology, no thanks for being cool. It was a very weird encounter.

[quote]If you see a group of people standing on the sidewalk, just bypass them. It's done every day by thousands of people in Manhattan. The only reason you did not do it it's because Sigourney Weaver was standing there and you wanted to show her that she is not all that. Get over yourself.

Again, obviously, you don't live here. The only place people regularly block sidewalks are tourists in Times Square and the West Village when those awful SITC tours were happening.

r6 it's funny you mention her.

I was just thinking of the time I and some work colleagues were sitting in the business lounge area of a hotel (we'd paid for use of the meeting rooms and the use of the lounge) and she was being interviewed by someone. I noticed her but went about my business with my colleagues.

All of a sudden an employee of the hotel came up and asked if we would move as we were "intimidating ms lang". Scuze me? We told the employee that we were not moving, if she felt intimidated, she could move.

by Anonymousreply 8February 13, 2018 1:58 PM

R8, sometimes we'd see her at the Hollywood farmers market, and she always looked quite scowly.

So I went to St. Edwards University and in my senior year, a coach by the name of Cat Osterman was there and she was like the best pitcher since Jennie Finch. She played for the softball USA Team in the Olympics and played for UT; she's well known in the softball and baseball world to both males and females. Well she was my coach for a softball and basketball elective class I took at St. Eds senior year. Man, she was a bitch. It's so weird because my ex-girlfriend was in love with this woman and really wanted to play for UT, but sadly didn't make it on the softball team. I fell out of touch with that ex girlfriend since she was a high school thing but nonetheless, I met Cat Osterman because I had her for a coach and she was a sarcastic bitch. BUT she said I was a bunter so hey!

k.d. moved her lard ass to Portland, OR a few years back.

by Anonymousreply 11February 13, 2018 11:21 PM

Wow that's disappointing to find out that kd Lang is such a bitch. I liked her version of hallelujah but won't bother complimenting it in the future....

by Anonymousreply 12February 14, 2018 5:37 AM

Sad to hear KD is a twat for real. Always previously regarded her highly.

by Anonymousreply 13February 14, 2018 7:30 AM

R5 the only REAL celeb there was Tom Jones. Cilla was always talking about how she is close friends with the Beatles and not either of the two went to her funeral, just a twitter mention, something you'd do with someone you were just an acquaintance with. I have heard nothing but bad things about cilla Black.

Anymore stories, I love to hear about her antics.

by Anonymousreply 14February 14, 2018 8:41 AM

So what about the Helen Hunt horror stories? Posters on the other thread said she was a terror, but no one mentioned any specifics. I saw her (from far away) at the Women's March last month, so ideologically, she's good, in my book.

by Anonymousreply 15February 14, 2018 8:30 PM

kd Lang was very unfriendly to all the servers in my restaurant. Always.

by Anonymousreply 16February 14, 2018 9:47 PM

[quote] Wow that's disappointing to find out that kd Lang is such a bitch. I liked her version of hallelujah but won't bother complimenting it in the future..

I knew someone would mention that. Well, I hate her version. It is so over the top and pretentious. That song is not supposed to be a blunt weapon assault on your senses. She ruins it.

Don't recall any dismissive or bad experiences with celebs, I've only had a few good "encounters" … going into 1515 Broadway, then the Minscoff Rehearsal Studios of the day, at the bottom of the entering escalator I saw at the top ready to get off was John Amos. I think he heard me tell my lunch companion … for he turned, looked down at us and smiled and nodded yup, it's me. He went to three.

Same building and elevator bank, on three going down, Carol Channing got on with a young twinkie assistant. I noticed she was in same gray tailored suit she'd worn on television two days prior. And thought it funny for i'd seen her shortly after Noon that day near Carnegie Hall, same suit. Think the tv studio was nearby.

After a matinee of FOLLIES I saw Blythe Danner -- ok so I wasn't fanning out, she was walking, crossing the street toward uptown and me. Very close she was so I just politely said as if very surprised something like oh Mrs. Paltrow, or Ms. Danner, I just saw you an hour ago. I was at the matinee! I enjoyed the show. She walked along beside me as if it was the most natural thing in the world and we chatted. Yes, she enjoyed doing the show, she was going to Saks to buy gloves, then would eat lightly an rest up or the evening show, what was I going to see tonight, yes Tracey Lord is a fun role. Knowing of timing I got off-stage heading west a block before Saks. It was like two old friends walking along and talking, leaving.

Majorly fangurling on T. R. Knight, one evening after The Scottsboro Boys in 2010 I walked over went to his stage door at the Schoenfeld when he was in A Life in the Theater. They were already out. So seeing a crowd at the Golden I went down to hang around and listen to the stage-door chat, for a dark-haired schoolboy who didn't know he was gay yet -- you know you can tell before they do -- caught my eye at Driving Miss Daisy. James Earl Jones had gone, Vanessa Redgrave was to come out. By then the crowd was 30 or so. Ms. Redgrave came out quietly, took the applause with smiles, did selfless, actually asked questions replying to several of those gushing at her. Unfortunately, at a stage door after a show is not a time for a conversation with an actor about aspects of her performance in A Madhouse in Goa in London 10 years earlier. She was truly lovely to all, made eye contact, smiled, signed a bit more, got into her waiting car. No matter her personal feelings on many subjects, when she is a working actor and it is theater, she is a very gracious lady. Most impressive.

After a more recent Follies waiting for Jayne Howdyshell, Bernadette Peters came out with DL fan favorite Jan Maxwell, both signed a bit and walked off. I was near a front line waiting, Mary Beth Peil came along, and looked up at me as if I was waiting but I wasn't doing the fan thing but thought I'd best say something, so said I'm waiting or Jayne and I really did enjoy the show. Never cared much for Solonge, the role or the song, but when you went to the stairs and threw your head back I thought boy we're in for something! And we were, you killed. Never liked Solonge much but you really defined the role. She said thank you, moved on; I was watching her a few people down and she saw me, said again, thank you, that means very much to me. Elaine Paige came out as well, in a strapless black gown, with two men in tuxedoes, got into a limo. Rosalind Elias, wearing a turban, came out and walked toward Eighth Avenue.

Of course there is always the very baffled Barbara Barrie, encountered going up Madison Avenue, when complemented on her performance in Shadows, saying she wasn't in it, and hearing oh yes you were! Oops, it was Gena Rowlands. Oops.

by Anonymousreply 19February 18, 2018 12:43 AM

Jesus Christ, R19, call the pharmacy and see if someone can deliver a refill of your meds.

This made me chuckle, because I just listened to an interview with Barrie on Gilbert Godfried's podcast, and about every third or fourth performance they ask her about, she says she doesn't remember working on.

[quote]Again, obviously, you don't live here. The only place people regularly block sidewalks are tourists in Times Square and the West Village when those awful SITC tours were happening.

I lived in downtown Manhattan for twenty five years & experienced blocked sidewalks more times than I can count.

What a bizarre idea that such a thing as blocked sidewalks, especially in front of restaurants or cinemas, do not exist in New York.

by Anonymousreply 22February 18, 2018 7:23 AM

Barbara Barrie went to great lengths telling me how awful her meal was in a place I managed. Send it back next time dopey.

Helen Hunt — years ago, my company paid for a Saturday training workshop with Gary Austin, who founded or cofounded the Groundlings. He had fallen a long way ... a complete alcoholic who drank Lone Star beer throughout the workshop and sat in the back of the room just getting drunker and drunker. He would call out an exercise and say something like "Do it for five minutes" and then go back to talking and cuddling with this blonde he'd come with.

It was Helen Hunt ... no makeup, unbrushed hair, complete sourpuss. As impaired as he was, she was dripping with disdain for everyone in the room (most of whom weren't writers or actors). And as much as you can tell these things, she wasn't having an off day or a bad day — she was just awful.

Between the pointlessness of the drunk barking out exercises and Helen Hunt being a cunt, it was a waste of a Saturday. I left at the first break, as did about half the workshop.

The one host of the Chew Clinton something? I remember that show he did with Stacey London about giving someone a new look and the guy was out shopping and Clinton just happened to be in the store they were in and he threw a shit fit because he was not wearing make up and refused to be on camera.

I worked a party for Rai once in LA and there was Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Susan Flannery, all from Dallas. Susan, I had worked with before, she is very nice, if she likes you she likes you. Patrick, who didn't know I knew Susan asked me what happened to her. I asked him what he meant and he said: "look at her she dresses like a bag lady." Then he proceeded to bag on her for being on a soap. Guess who ended up on that same soap? lol Suck it, Patrick. The best part of the evening. I was making sure the RAI execs got pics with the stars and I asked Larry Hagman when he came in if we could get some pictures. He was drunker than a monkey looked at me and said SURE BUDDY put his arm around me and said "where is the camera.."

My random Andy Dick encounter--at night, I was standing outside a hotel in Austin, where I was visiting for a writer's conference and talking to some acquaintances from the conference. Suddenly, Andy Dick appears out of nowhere, going up to people, asking if anyone has any weed to smoke. One of my friends had a small weed pipe and offered Andy a puff, but Andy took the pipe, walked away with it, and kept it, even though the guy was yelling at him to give it back. Very strange.

Madonna is a cunt and a half. At record release party she screamed at me for not lining up for her autograph.

Did you cut the line, r27, or were you simply not interested?
