It's certainly a sidebar, but that's going to happen on these threads, especially when Armie himself isn't giving us much to discuss. It's certainly more connected to Armie than the lengthy discussions of Timothee's looks, etc that have taken place on the last couple of threads. If you have some particular facet of Armie you feel is going undiscussed, post about it.

I finally read the book. The last 20 pages literally broke me. I cried non stop. After so many years, Elio is still heartbroken and deeply in love with Oliver. I’m so happy that I purchased the novel. What a heartbreaking sad love story!

I read the book, too. It's beautiful. Armie is perfectly cast as Oliver, even if he's a little long in the tooth for the role. The book reads like it has him in mind.

After reading the book and seeing the film, it's wild to then listen to the audio book and hear it read by Armie speaking as Elio. It's the ultimate in CMBYN meta-ness. I love that he and Timothee are now part of the DNA of this story, so much so that even Andre Aciman himself can no longer picture anyone else as these characters except for Armie and Timmy.

Tucci didn't do a good job as director, it was very repetitive at times and focused too much on the artist crazy lifestyle rather than any artistic notion or deeper explanation into his process, so the movie is sometimes long and slow....that said all the acting is good,the production design is really great,Armie does his job like all the other actors. So If you like the genre you might appreciate it otherwise it's gonna be pretty boring.
