As it turns out, her mother did EVERYTHING for her growing up, so she got accustomed to just dropping whatever wherever she went. Though I also agree, it's pretty obvious his parents coddled him. I think at least one of them saw him as their meal ticket - they were making him do commercials as a kid, when he himself said he didn't want like doing them, and then no doubt pulling strings to get him into LaGuardia, etc. His sister did ballet as a child too, so sounds like one of them - one would assume the mother - was a typical stage parent.

I think Timotheee looks terrific in these pics. I love Tom & Lorenzo, but I'm not sure what their nitpicks were here as far as tailoring. Regardless: I rate Armie's outfit as an ambitious FAIL.

No matter how good and classic Timotheeee looks here, they may have done better exchanging suits. Armie's overly busy suit (it's Etro; I would have guessed Prada) does not suit his coloring at all. Armie may have grown up in the Carribean, but I think he should avoid looking red, ruddy, or brown. It ages him, and works against the strength of his natural features.

Timotheeee, with his natural high-contrast coloring, can pull off dramatic colors and patterns without a problem.

Armie would have looked impeccable with less sun and in Timotheee's tailored pinstripes.

Armie’s recent decision to wear loud suits risks making him look like as another person succinctly put it, “a lumbering doofus.”

He looked best during UNCLE promo where he tried to project maturity with neutral suit and only splash of color in the tie.

He can do bold colours, like the famous red suit, but patterns are a no.

The red suit was when he was 25 or 26 and could still pull off the cavalier youth look. Now with his receding hairline he has to dress his age.

Both his parents are fundie Christians. His dad is a little more open minded and may watch the film, but his mom won't. Also, they were against him going into acting because they wanted him to stay in the family business. They now are more supportive of his career, but he doesn't get any financial support from them. I probably spoke too definitively in my initial post and I don't portend to know what his dating history was before he got married or exactly how he viewed women before his wife. I should have buffered my comments with, "an actual woman...he had deeper feelings for". I personally didn't find his statements to Playboy(!) to be suggestive of anything more psychologically complex than he probably consumed a steady diet of porn that could have wired him to approach sex with women in a particularly aggressive way and coupled with his access and looks, he likely never wanted for partners to act out his porn inspired fantasies with. It's sad but I think that's how the Oscars are going to go, with those four noms. The male acting categories are always super-competitive with a surplus of possibilities, and the movie has lost some of its awards momentum; that momentum is what would have gotten Armie (and/or Michael) a slot. Without it, there will be room for Timothee's undeniable performance, the overall film with its writing, and Luca's accomplishment, but that's probably all.

I mean, it's sad that Armie and Michael couldn't be nominated (I assume they're cancelling each other out and the film isn't strong enough to overcome it) but this was a great day for the film overall.

It made Best Film in a field of only 5 over favorites such as Get Out and Lady Bird and awards bait such as The Post. And Luca finally getting some recognition for his directing is a huge deal too. I didn't realize he was initially passed over for Spacey and then got the part by default due to Spacey's scandal. That certainly gives him a narrative. I do think they got along well during filming and that their stories of spending a lot of time together are true. It's just that Elizabeth was probably there for most of it too. There's Instagram photos of the three of them in Crema. However, I don't think it became this intense friendship until last year. The interviews of them at Sundance and Berlinale....they're not awkward by any means, but they don't seem as comfortable around each other as they do now. I think when Timmy stayed with them in February was a big turning point in their friendship and was when they started to get really close. They've both said in interviews that they speak almost as much now as they did in Crema and that they know each other a lot better.

So I do think the answers they give about their time in Italy are slightly constructed for PR (although they always get asked that same question about how they built their chemistry so they have to say something), but I think their friendship since is a lot more genuine.
