Treason to Believe (The Mueller Investigation Part 7)
by Anonymous | reply 600 | January 3, 2018 11:52 PM |
Fascinating set of Tweets from Abramson on Ivanka's dealings.
Looks like Daddy groomed her in more ways than one.
[quote]I'm delaying a thread about Ivanka, the Russian mafia, Daphne Galizia, the Panama Papers, Alexandre Nogueira, and ICIJ until I have more time. Until then, a summary: Ivanka was working with Russian mafia; Galizia helped uncover it; Galizia was assasinated.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 26, 2017 2:58 PM |
[quote]2/ That most have no idea one of the world's most trusted news outlets reported weeks ago that Ivanka worked with Russian mafia within the last decade—while Don was bragging about the Trumps' Russian investors—tells you everything about how "hard" media has gone after the Trumps.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 26, 2017 2:58 PM |
[quote]3/ Ask most Americans if Ivanka is implicated in dealings with Russia and they'll say "no." Did she visit Putin agent Emin Agalarov in Moscow in 2014, months after her dad signed a letter-of-intent with Emin's father, Putin's real estate developer? Yes. But, you know, crickets.
[quote]4/ Was she dealing with the Russian mafia at a time journalists say Russia was beginning to develop Trump as an asset? Yes. But crickets. Does Bannon insist "Javanka" (not just Jared, but Ivanka) has been in on every major Trump-Russia decision made by Trump? Yes. But crickets.
[quote]5/ Ivanka works at the White House; is in on every major White House decision; knows her father's secrets; has the same Russian ties he does; is clearly being groomed by Trump for future business or political greatness; and yet media *never* connect her to the Trump-Russia probe.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 26, 2017 3:00 PM |
[quote]6/ That Mueller gave Flynn such a sweetheart deal—when Flynn was atop the Trump NatSec machine that had covert dealings with Russia—tells you Mueller's theory: the Trump-Russia scandal is a family affair that pre-dates 2015. Which means he's looking at Jared, Don Jr., and Ivanka.
[quote]7/ Even Eric lied—saying he never told a reporter his dad's golf courses were funded by Russians. Trump trusts family; it's not clear he trusts anyone else to see all his Russia ties. Remember that. Oh, and this: the FBI is investigating Galizia's death.
[quote]8/ To sum up: Galizia worked at ICIJ before she was assassinated; ICIJ received proof Ivanka's Panama business partner Alexandre Nogueira was a fraud; that proof is what led to Reuters connecting Ivanka to the Russian mafia; the FBI is now investigating.

This thread has more info than the mistakenley created duplicate, so I vote to stick with this one...
I haven’t been keeping up with news the past couple days, and checked out msn.com this morning.
The only article they had was about how Mueller is waking a landmine because of the guy ( who was immediately reassigned) texted his gf about Trump being an idiot. ...totally going along with the right wing narrative.
No mention that he also texted anti Clinton and sanders messages too. And that you don’t have to be a trump supporter in order to objectively investigate him. And that he was immediately reassigned.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 26, 2017 3:20 PM |
For those of us who think Mueller is following the money, look at this article from earlier in the year.
Trump has been engaged in money laundering going back decades.

Ivanka directly tied to a potential political assassination linked (once again) to her father's Russian Kremlin interests. That is beyond damning.

Russians Want Americans To Doubt Mueller....
“There is a perception among the media and general public that Russia ended its social media operations following last year’s election and that we need worry only about future elections,” the pair wrote. “But that perception is wrong. Russia’s information operations in the United States continued after the election, and they continue to this day.
During one week in early December, for example, roughly 20 percent of the activity from accounts tied to Russian intelligence for propaganda was focused on undermining faith in Mueller’s investigation into potential collusion between Russia and the successful campaign of Donald Trump, according to research by The Alliance for Securing Democracy."
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 26, 2017 10:51 PM |
R18 There was an orchestrated campaign by the Russian bots that urged people not to retweet Seth Abramson on Twitter a couple of weeks ago. Some of them were telling us the same thing right here on DL at that time.
So I can't even begin to imagine what kind of shit they have in store for Mueller.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 26, 2017 10:56 PM |
Undermining faith in our democratic system of government -- so, even more treason. And, they are willingly being aided by the morons in Congress and in the media who are more than happy to do what the Russians want.

If tRump is involved -- as the evidence thus far seems to show -- then pardoning any of his co-conspirators could be seen as a further attempt to obstruct justice.
This criminal needs to be removed from office and thrown in prison.

We see the bad guys win too often & too easily. It’s demoralizing.
Cops, politicians, CEO’s, bankers & other hedge fund douchebags, basically ALL white men, especially rich ones, are never brought to justice.
If dozens of people do not go to prison as the result of Robert Mueller’s investigation, then The United States as we know it is over.

Trump had no effect on ISIS...don't be a fool. Every good thing in our economy is straight from Obama but that will be ending soon.. Trump got rid of all regulations that control banks and money lenders. Trump got rid of every regulation that protects our environment. WE NEED A CLEAN ENVIROMENT!
God! Every good thing for the PEOPLE that Obama tried to put in place...Trump and Republicans have destroyed...what next? Emigrants are actually the life blood of our country and Trump is cutting it off. Trying to spend trillions of dollars on a ridiculous boarder wall that is a sickening waste of money! He has done so much evil, I could go on all day but to me...his collusion with the Russians to steal our election from an extremely competent candidate...so that, he, the no nothing, racist fool would be elected, that is the worst and he needs to be hanged by the neck until dead, for treason.

[quote]By letting us keep more of our own money?
Putting $200 billion a year on the nation's credit card isn't "letting us keep more of our own money," particularly when, for the majority of us, this bill ends up in a tax hike in a few short years. And when they've already said that they're coming after Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security to go after the deficits that their own policies have caused. It's a classic reverse Robin Hood.
[quote]By defeating ISIS?
ISIS was on the run during the Obama administration. Just look at how much territory they've lost every year for the past decade or so. Trump hasn't done shit to "defeat ISIS."
[quote]By turning down the flow of endless illegal immigration?
Illegal immigration was effectively zero during the Obama years.
Do try to do some research before you post again. Better to be thought a fool than to continue to post here and prove it.

[quote]In just the last few weeks, his prosecutors have begun questioning Republican National Committee staffers about the party digital operation that worked with the Trump campaign to target voters in key swing states. They are seeking to determine if the joint effort was related to the activities of Russian trolls and bots aimed at influencing the American electorate, according to two of the sources.

Ken Starr, after praising Mueller months ago, is now on the anti-Mueller-anti-FBI bandwagon of bashing by many Republicans.
Starr was fired as President of Baylor a couple of years ago due to the athletics scandal there. Sexual assaults of women by athletes were being covered-up. Starr's credibility is very far from being pristine.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 28, 2017 12:26 AM |
At his core Ken Starr is and always has been nothing more than a partisan hack -- his judicial credentials notwithstanding. He proved that years ago and has done nothing in the intervening decades to dispel that notion. He has always put service to party over service to country.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 28, 2017 12:44 AM |
Republicans are complaining that Mueller’s investigations should be narrowly focused and have become ranging too far afield. Remember Ken Starr was charged with investigating Whitewater, and when a very long, expensive, and exhaustive investigation turned up nothing, the Monica Lewinsky shenanigans fell into his lap.
Let Mueller find whatever lawbreaking Trump and his henchmen are guilty of. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

[quote] Republicans are complaining that Mueller’s investigations should be narrowly focused and are ranging too far afield.
Looking at it from a law enforcement / Justice Department perspective, what exactly would they have Mueller do when, in the course of his investigation, he uncovers illegalities that, while connected to the participants in this conspiracy, do not directly implicate the allegations of Russian interference? Ignore them? Turning them over to someone else at DOJ becomes a logistical nightmare because Mueller may need those witnesses in other parts of the case he is building and can't have some other prosecutor mucking up his case. It is also a bureaucratic tangle because supervision of those cases can't involve Sessions in the chain of command. Better to leave this Mueller, who is an experienced, fair, and even-handed prosecutor. Whatever crimes he discovers need to be prosecuted.

In late June, the Commercial Bank of Dubai sought—and later received—permission to subpoena Ivanka Trump’s now-defunct fine jewelry line, claiming its diamonds were used in a massive scheme to hide roughly $100 million that was owed to the bank, according to filings at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Ivanka Trump launched Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry roughly a decade ago, partnering with a young real estate and diamond heir named Moshe Lax. It was her first independent business venture. She licensed her name for use by Madison Avenue Diamonds, which did business under Trump’s name in exchange for royalties. Trump also owned an equity stake in the business for an unspecified period. Around the time they were going into business together, Lax introduced Trump to Jared Kushner, the man who would become her husband, at a luncheon for real estate heirs he convened in Midtown Manhattan.

Ivanka is obviously counting on her maternal sex-pot persona to save herself from any serious investigation, let alone punishment.
Trump will do anything, including using nuclear weapons (N. Korea; Iran) to protect his family and stop Mueller.

R108, how long was his vacation supposed to last? I think Rachel’s was supposed to go to the middle of next week.
Last night they discussed Lawrence’s charity to buy school desks for children in Africa and its great success. Lawrence was absent but called in to discuss it. He mentioned in passing that he hadn’t been able to publicize the charity as much this year as in past years, but it still did very well. I don’t watch Lawrence all the time, so any idea why he couldn’t? Was he ill, or was it the network? Maybe he’s coming back to discuss the charity.

by Anonymous | reply 118 | December 29, 2017 10:49 PM |
R114 I somewhat disagree. It's not that they weren't being careful because of Donald being in the White House. Their corruption started long before Trump even started his latest campaign. They never considered Trump would BE in the White House, therefore no investigation would ever be launched. Many were banking - literally - that he would lose and they'd get away with everything. Best laid plans.....
by Anonymous | reply 119 | December 29, 2017 11:25 PM |
R119 From the info coming out, the most corrupt GOP were already in bed with the Russians for years, so they were banking on Trump winning, since they know they were going to go all out on the cheating. If somehow Trump lost, they would have started shredding all evidence before Hillary look office.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | December 29, 2017 11:33 PM |
R120, R119 here. I discussed this before on a previous thread, (I think about Manafort). If Hillary had won, we would have most likely had an investigation, but not the Special Counsel. We'll never know for sure, but I think the corrupt GOP'ers thought they had safety valves in place. Someone in response to my post agreed and referenced the plot of The Producers as an analogy. It was safe for the Repugs to accept bribes and do what was requested because they genuinely thought the plan would fail and they wouldn't have to worry, and therefore, have profited with no price to pay.
it's just a theory, and like wrote, we can never know for sure.

by Anonymous | reply 122 | December 30, 2017 12:10 AM |

Instead, they acted like they owned the whole federal government from then on and did not bother covering anything up. Even after Mueller was appointed, they still acted like the situation was only control. Only when the first indictment came and news that people were cooperating with Mueller broke did they start with the damage control.

R113/R120 etc. you’re both right.
As was mentioned earlier, the hysteria among looney toons in the House majority began when they realized Mueller’s investigators may have gotten their hands on the transition teams’ Crown Jewels. The documents likely implicate House Republicans (and Transition Team Leader Pence).
The dirty memos were supposed to have been locked up.
(AND there wouldn’t have been two Russia-focused Special Counsels to go looking for them, had anyone other than Trump been elected.)
Trump’s transition team lawyers started sputtering (to Congress not the courts) about Mueller having obtained government documents that the lawyers claimed were “susceptible to (a non-existent) privilege” as soon as they learned what he had.

The media is reporting what members of Congress are saying. By reporting what some politicians learn other politicians are planning, it tends to put a spotlight on planned underhanded actions and makes it harder for the bad guys to pull them off.

R142 has it exactly right.
We can’t know what is going on behind the scenes. But I think we can all agree that Trump would fire anyone if it would mean he could safely close the Meuller investigation. The only reason he doesn’t, is that his advisors are manipulating him. They either are telling him that said firing would make things worse, or that the investigation has found nothing and is ending soon, or more, or all of that.
All the hubbub by the media at Xmas may very well have prevented Trump from acting. His advisors would have seen that moveon had pre-organized rallies in 125 cities (or however many) and that it would be a political disaster. That the Saturday night massacre led directly to Nixon’s impeachment.

R149, it seems really obvious that Trump’s lawyers, who are knowingly lying to him and telling him Mueller is going to clear him, are doing it to keep him calm and keep him from firing Mueller. But what’s the end game? Eventually the truth will out. What then?
Is it that they are greedy lawyers and just want the money from dragging it out, but they know it’s all going to blow up in their faces?
Is Mitch McConnell telling them to keep Trump quiet and stall while they pillage the Treasury? Can he even do that? You have to be an incredibly unethical lawyer to take orders from somebody that’s not your client, possibly even against the client’s best interest, but these are incredibly unethical lawyers. I guess later they could say, “We were as surprised as anyone when Trump went to prison, and we did the best we could.” By then Trump will be too senile to know which end is up.
Do they think they are saving the Republic from a madman and this is their public service, while waiting for Mueller to get Trump out? That sounds rather Democratic, but some Republicans acknowledge Trumo is crazy, so maybe.
Do they think they’re keeping Trump in longer by keeping him quiet, so he can wreck havoc longer, by stopping him from firing Mueller? That insinuates they think the minute Mueller is gone, so is Trump. And I don’t think that is necessarily true.
Any ideas?

[quote]the shit is gonna hit the fan when the full story emerges about Obama officials using the hoax Steele dossier (that they KNEW was a hoax) to justify spying on Trump before and after the election.
Today's New York Times:
During a night of heavy drinking at an upscale London bar in May 2016, George Papadopoulos, a young foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, made a startling revelation to Australia’s top diplomat in Britain: Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton.
The information that Mr. Papadopoulos gave to the Australians answers one of the lingering mysteries of the past year: What so alarmed American officials to provoke the F.B.I. to open a counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign months before the presidential election?
It was not, as Mr. Trump and other politicians have alleged, a dossier compiled by a former British spy hired by a rival campaign. Instead, it was firsthand information from one of America’s closest intelligence allies.

R174 "Hillary lost because she ran a tone-deaf campaign based on the flawed premise that victory was assured"
I've been posting this since November 2016, and although I'm in a minority, I know I'm not the only person on DL who believes this. I think some day, maybe next week, next month... maybe not for 30 years! - but it'll be revealed that on top of everything else. Putin found a way to hack the voting tallies and Hilary actually won the Electoral College as well. There's some previous thread highlighting the specific details of how it might have been done - but it is technologically possible - and I think they did it. And at some point it will be revealed - because Putin WANTS us to know. Otherwise, what would be the point?
And to add - it's known to the FBI and CIA that the GOP emails were hacked as well as the Dems. Why weren't they released? Because they were far more lurid and full of criminal doings than the Hillary's or any other Dems, and it's that information that's now being used to blackmail the Republicans.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | December 31, 2017 5:15 AM |
R125, I assume you're writing about the statute of limitations. When the offense is a continuing crime or if there are acts of concealment, the statute of limitations is extended. The statute would start running the date of the last act of concealment or when the crime was finalized. Once a successful money laundering scheme was created, it would tend to run until it was no longer convenient or profitable. So, assuming money laundering is involved (I'd bet the rent on it), Mueller will probably be able to go back farther than five years.

Before that, Mueller can really only keep chipping away at the enablers around Trump on the chance Trump further incriminates himself. Indicting Trump himself would be require too much effort and would invite savage partisan attacks from the GOP as they would be riled up to protect their "king" in this chess game.

A jailed Russian who says he hacked into the Democratic National Committee computers on the Kremlin’s orders to steal emails released during the 2016 U.S. presidential election campaign now claims he left behind a data signature to prove his assertion.
In an interview with Russia’s RAIN television channel made public Wednesday, Konstantin Kozlovsky provided further details about what he said was a hacking operation led by the Russian intelligence agency known by its initials FSB. Among them, Kozlovsky said he worked with the FSB to develop computer viruses that were first tested on large, unsuspecting Russian companies, such as the oil giant Rosneft, later turning them loose on multinational corporations.

I have to wonder if Papadumbass has been under FBI surveillance since the Aussie reported his claims.
That would certainly explain why he flipped so quickly and how Mueller has been able to get such good info on Flynn, kushner and Jr so fast.
It's almost like they knew exact what to look for, who and where.
Just a thought. That seems to be the logical thing to do with such an allegation.

by Anonymous | reply 204 | December 31, 2017 6:52 PM |
R202, we don't need to go into conspiracy theory zones for info on why the call was contention. That was well known at the time: Trump was angry about a deal that Obama had made with Australia to resettle refugees from Australia's offshore detention centers.

In addition, she had pneumonia. When I had pneumonia at age 47, I was hospitalized for 5 days before leaving AMA. Then, I found I was too week to work, at a desk, for another 30 days. So, I respect her for taking the one full day off to recover! Nonetheless, it no doubt cut into her appearances.

Here’s a riddle or you sleuths. We already know that Trump projects, whenever someone tries to pin something on him, he accuses the other party of his own transgressions. After the Access Holiday tapes, he arrives at a debate with Bill Clinton accusers, for example. Like calling Jeb “low energy”, which fits him, too. If you recall, after the 3-hour debate at the Reagan Presidential Library, He lost it. It was too hot, and he stood for two long. He “negotiated “to get shorter debates thereafter. Many other examples.
Given that, he was on record for spreading rumors that Hillary wasn’t physically up to the task. I forget the specific health-related accusation he used, but it tells me that he knew she was sick. This was before Hillary collapsed and we all learned she had pneumonia. So, what did he know about Hilary’s health, and how and from whom did he learn it? And what meds is hopped-up on?

OK. So the Guardian is reporting that a huge network of international Intel analysts working for the governments of Great Britain and a bunch of other countries were sharing intel and alerting the USA to the close relationship between the Trump campaign and the Russian Intel people since back in 2015. The was known by all the foreign governments who are our allies that Russia was trying to get next to Trump and had succeeded. They were sharing that intel with one another and with us. They were amazed at how slowly we moved on it. No one ever believed Trump would win the Presidency. Everyone, including the FBI who was investigating her e-mails, believed Hillary would be our POTUS.

I can't even imagine what would happened if the Obama administration had tried to stop Cheetolini from taking office with the Repug congress in place. Congress is the only body that could have done anything without a full-blown Constitutional crisis taking place because they represent the American public (supposedly). Remember, Obama did approach McConnell and Ryan and the rest of the Congressional leadership about the Russian issues before the election was over and McConnell told him to fuck off and that if he did anything he'd raise hell about partisanship and try to take down the Dems with it.
There was nothing Obama could do without Congressional support. The fact that it is on record that McConnell wouldn't do his duty as a sworn Senator and threatened Obama seems like more clear obstruction of justice. I hope this is the end of the Repug party.
by Anonymous | reply 240 | January 1, 2018 7:41 AM |
R233, you know, when and IF we get through all this that will be the larger question. The fact that so many people were absolutely convinced HRC would win, and literally stunned when Trump "won" by 78,000 votes convinces me that he stole the election with Russian hacking assistance. That the Russians, in collusion with the damned Cambridge Analytica folks and others literally went into the voter rolls and actually altered outcomes. I believe no one was prepared for that. Individual states denied it could happen.
Obama is a calm controlled man, but he couldn't hide his disgust in the few meetings he had with Trump. And even worse, Obama's people proceeded with the transition briefings under the assumption that both sides "cared" about the United States and would not act against our interests as a country, because both sides supported the basic rule of law & the Constitution, even though they might have philosophical differences.
This is a typical Democratic reaction. The Dems always play by the rules and make assumptions that the GOP will "eventually do the right thing." And the GOP NEVER does the right thing. They manipulate the rules, ignore the rules, break the rules and don't give a fuck. Look at what we've had to contend with. White Supremacists, corruption in Congress, cabinet officials who's single mission is to destroy the agencies they're responsible for, conflicts of interest blatantly in your face, and policy decisions deliberately designed to weaken us.
We've been coasting on Obama policies so we haven't yet felt the full impact of what's going on, but by 2020 we will have. And think about it. Now that they have got away with it, WTF makes people believe we will have free fair elections in 2018 and get rid of this lice that's infected our government? Does anyone expect them to go quietly or play by the rules this time?
Oh, wait. They will "revise " the rules and change the laws and play by their own set of rules. The free press is all we have right now, that and our own outrage. We need to show up in vast numbers and strike fear in the hearts of the craven, gutless bastards who run things at the state level. We have to do what we can, but it will definitely not be easy.

R233 they didn't have all the info we have now. It wouldn't be enough to say that foreign governments intel agencies are giving us information without probably giving up too much about who and how that information is gathered. They saw evidence of Russians getting too close to the Trump campaign. They even warned people in the Trump circles, (!!!) of Russian interference, they started to build a case and they had to independently corroborate everything they were getting from our allies. The American public and out system of laws would not permit us to simply go public and react, to actually suspend an election outcome and violate our own laws simply based on what other countries were finding.
by Anonymous | reply 243 | January 1, 2018 7:49 AM |
I think the vote was hacked simply due to what I saw happen in Florida. She was ahead early which means she was winning the smaller, more rural areas where the totals come in earlier. Then, as the bigger Democratic cities started to come in all of a sudden Trump started gaining votes. That's just not how the counts ever work. With her early lead, and the counting of the Democratic urban areas coming in later, her lead should have grown. Completely hacked.

They knew people schemed to let Trump win and they let it slide because of who was behind / backing those schemers.

[quote]Yes. There's already proof. I work in the industry. I sat in a meeting with the head of cyber security investigations for the FBI in Florida. Their systems were hacked in 2016. What's difficult is proving that (or more accurately stated "how") the votes were manipulated. But go back to election night and remember how Trump pulled ahead in Florida, NC, MI, PA and WI. It happened almost like clock work once the precincts reporting crossed the 50% threshold. This shit is deep. Putin had already done this in his own election and also in Ukraine. We should be very worried about the EU elections coming up.

You know, this New York TImes piece about Papadopoulis getting drunk and telling some Australian that Trump people were getting dirt on Hillary from Russia is misleading, IMO. I recall reading, very recently, in The Guardian, and other places that foreign Intelligence agencies had information about Russia attempting to get close to the Trump campaign and Russia's intent to influence our Presidential election back in 2015. I'm not denying Papdopoulis had the conversation, I questioning the fact that the Times is reporting that this is what started everything as far as our FBI investigating the Russia connections. It didn't. Russia, and this has been documented, was cultivating Trump and setting us up for at least five years before 2016. They even fucked with the primaries so Trump would emerge. We really need to start raising hell on social media about the New York TImes? WTF happened to them that was worth shitting on their history and reputation?

October 28: Donald Trump signs a 'letter of intent' to construct a Trump-branded building in Moscow; a fact made public in August 2017.[28][29] November: Trump associate Felix Sater emails Trump lawyer Michael Cohen: "Michael, I arranged for Ivanka to sit in Putin's private chair at his desk and office in the Kremlin [...] Our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it. I will get all of Putin's team to buy in on this".[30]
Sater also tells Cohen that the Kremlin's Vneshtorgbank (VTB Bank) is ready to finance a Trump Tower project in Moscow.[31]

You just know the Republican Party would have impeachment hearings by now based on a rumor that Hillary Rodman Clinton doesn't use the proper recycle bins for her trash.
The entire Republican Party should be stripped of all their clothes and material belongings (including their foreign bank accounts) and shamed, shamed, shamed out of Washington DC.

Mifsud introduces Papadopoulos to Ivan Timofeev, program director of the Kremlin-linked Valdai Discussion Club. Papadopoulos and Timofeev communicate for months concerning potential meetings between Russian government officials and members of the Trump campaign. Later records indicate that Timofeev discussed Papadopoulos with former Russian Foreign Minister Igor S. Ivanov.[51][52]
Between April and November 2016, at least 18 further exchanges by telephone and e-mail occur between Russian officials and the Trump team.[53][54]

A team of FBI agents travel to Europe to speak with Steele, concerning his work-in-progress dossier which alleges a wide-ranging Russian conspiracy.[116]
October 7:
WikiLeaks begins publishing thousands of emails from Clinton campaign manager John Podesta, revealing excerpts from Clinton's paid speeches to Wall Street.[117][118] The DHS and the ODNI issue a joint statement[119] accusing the Russian government of breaking into the computer systems of several political organizations and releasing the obtained material via DCLeaks, WikiLeaks and Guccifer 2.0, with the intent "to interfere with the U.S. election process."[120]
October 12:
WikiLeaks writes to Trump Jr. “Hey Donald, great to see you and your dad talking about our publications,” “Strongly suggest your dad tweets this link if he mentions us.”[121] Fifteen minutes later, Donald Trump Sr. writes on Twitter, "Very little pick-up by the dishonest media of incredible information provided by WikiLeaks. So dishonest! Rigged system!"[122]
October 14:
Trump Jr. tweets a specific Wikileaks link.[123] Pence denies that the Trump campaign is working with Wikileaks, stating that "nothing could be further from the truth".[124]
October 19: During the third presidential debate, Clinton blames Russia for the DNC email leaks and accuses Trump of being a "puppet" of Putin.[125] Trump denies ever meeting Vladimir Putin or having any connection to him.[126] A Financial Times probe finds evidence a Trump venture has links to alleged laundering network.[127]
October 24:
Trump announces at a Florida campaign rally, "I have nothing to do with Russia, folks, I’ll give you a written statement."[128]

No, R290. For those people including many in the media who still need to believe the NY Times is still one of the "good guys," this story alleging Papdopoulis was the beginning of the investigation allows them some shred of reassurance about the Times. IMO the Times is throwing out this bone in the hope of helping to create confusion about timelines and also to limit the investigation's scope.
Clearly it did not start with Papadopoulis but both foreign and domestic Intel agencies were on to this for a year by then. They were all watching Russia for the simple reason that Russia was never trusted and had proven itself to be a meddlesome piece of shit all over Europe. Obama was trusted. European leaders liked him a lot.
They were particularly reassured when Obama appointed Hillary as SoS because she' a highly respected public figure, and together they did a lot to restore good will between America and other nations after eight years of Bush/Cheney shitting on our relationships. People don't seem to understand that in a global economy, playing nice with the other kids goes a long way towards contributing to our economic health and it also does a lot to help with the war on terror.
But taken together, Obama and HIllary enraged Putin. He seemed to blame them for everything he failed at. He blamed Hillary for inspiring the demonstrations in his country. He blamed Obama because other leaders in Europe and the Middle East were emboldened to stand up to him. Obam was particularly damaging to Putin's attempts to dig into the Middle East even more than he already was. Syria and Iran have been "clients" of Russia for a long time. Russia's hands and Putin's in particular when he was KGB, have been fucking with the Middle East since the early 80's that I know of.
So along comes Trump who is a racist a divisive piece of shit, and a greedy bastard. Putin plays him like a piano. Is still playing him. Trump is a money launderer. He's a predatory deal maker who knows nothing about loyalty or ethics and his naked need for praise and attention make him vulnerable to manipulation by someone as expert as Putin. People are buying books to read about Trump out here, but I'd love to read the definitive expose' on Vladimir Putin.

R301, I’m not R297, but I think the answer to your question is yes.
One of the wackiest things that happened in the summer of 2016 was Ivanka & her husband running off to Croatia on “holiday”!
She had given birth only a couple of weeks previous, leaves the newborn, and off they went to meet Wendy (The Bag Man) Deng, in the sweltering (100 degree plus daily temperatures) off-season of Croatia!
They rented David Geffen’s yacht, and in all the pics they are dripping with sweat.
So Deng had cash for The Trump Campaign from Putin , but obviously not directly, hence his girlfriend brought it.
The next week Manafort told the press that rumors of the campaign having financial troubles were false. In fact he said the campaign had plenty of money.
by Anonymous | reply 310 | January 1, 2018 10:30 PM |
I remember that R310. You know what I find puzzling? It was obvious to a lot of us, they were so in your face with it, but the news media refused to cover Trump and his crew critically. there was no taste for investigative pieces. And if some investigative feature writer from a magazine did it, it was pretty much ignored . Even Maddow seemed more infatuated with the whole Bernie/Hillary thing than she was interested in investigating Trump. When I read about how the Prosecutors for the state of NY are going to go after JAred or Trump, etc. I have to wonder. None of this stuff is new. None of it. He's been doing wrong for years. Why now? Why not then? And last year, some of the stuff that we know to day was known then about his business interests with oligarchs. And yet nothing happened. He was given 24/7/365 coverage, his rallies, etc. the spectacle, but none of the substance of who he really was. Surely after he secured the nomination and was a serious contender representing a major party, the media should have gone after him with everything they had.

Chaffetz's father was Jewish, and his paternal grandfather Maxwell (Max) Chaffetz (1909–1986), the son of immigrants from Russia, became an FBI Special Agent. Chaffetz's father's first wife was Kitty Dukakis (née Dickson), who later married Michael Dukakis, future Massachusetts Governor and 1988 Democratic presidential nominee. The relationship between Chaffetz's father and Kitty Dukakis lasted four years and produced Chaffetz's elder half-brother John Dukakis (born John A. Chaffetz), who was later adopted by Michael and Kitty Dukakis. While in college, Chaffetz worked as a Utah co-chairman of Michael Dukakis’ 1988 presidential campaign. As reported in 2009, Chaffetz remains close to his half-brother and the Dukakis family.

I'm still catching up on this thread so I apologize if this has been discussed, but we REALLY should start a thread documenting which members of Congress have taken Russian money for all of the DL to refer to. Just off the top of my head:
Mitch McConnell
Marco Rubio
Devin Nunes (duh)
Lindsay Graham
John Kasich
John McCain
Paul Ryan
Dana Rohrbacker (double duh)
Matt Gaetz
Andy Biggs
Louie Goehmert
Bernie Sanders
Ted Davine

I feel bad for Hillary, the more we learn about Russiagate, the more I feel she was robbed. Yes her campaign made mistakes, but she was a good person, had great policy ideas, and would have been a great President.
I know this sounds stupid, but I kind of don't want a female President right now. Yes I want it to happen, and yes it will happen, but the idea of someone like Kamala Harris getting the title (when she has done 10% of what Hillary has done for the country) is painful. Like Hillary did all the work of the marathon, and then someone else is going to get to cross the finish line.
It just pisses me off. It's not fair.

Yes. Many have been. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) just went through a federal criminal trial where he had been indicted. The trial ended in a hung jury. Here is a Washington Post article from July 2015 listing the members who had been indicted just since 1980.

I just hope to Christ we can all stay MOTIVATED. One of their strongest strategies is simply wearing the public out. They understand that the American people can only stand so much and they are banking on a small public outcry. We are each individually responsible for not only keeping ourselves actively engaged in protests and social media, but also continuing to speak out to every single person we are connected too. That is your DUTY. Don't let your country down, we must keep fighting, never ever give up. The pressure is indeed working, just look at Alabama.

And for the Bernie Sanders apologists be advised. The most important thing for you to remember is that Manafort and Devine worked together to fuck with the elections in the Ukraine and that Bernie's staff under Devine's supervision hacked the DNC.. When BErnie says he won't vote for something because "it doesn't go far enough" that's part of his pattern. He's done it repeatedly Healthcare, Immigration Reform, Auto Industry Bailout, etc.etc.etc. It's bullshit. It's a fig leaf. He has been in Congress for 30 years and hasn't done shit except consistently support the Gun manufacturers. Oh. And he voted for Wall Street deregulation. All those starry eyed BernieBots seem to over look his record. Of course now we know so many of them were RussianBots too. Bernie is a very typical throwback from the 60's and 70's. They are disruptors.
I feel sadness and anger for Hillary Clinton, too. She really was robbed of the Presidency. It is reprehensible that sexism is so pervasive that it's reflexive enough to send the FBI, thanks to Rudy Giuliani and the New York Field office goons and retirees Giuliani employs in his security firm, to go after Hillary and her e-mails. Rudy was very effective creating a whisper campaign for his media connections to convince them an indictment would be handed down any minute for months. It was a despicable thing to do and through it all Hillary never flinched. She has been strong and conducted herself like a real leader. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't feel the loss very acutely. She would have been an outstanding leader.

But now, realizing his dastardly deeds (plus all the years of just listening to him speak) I now realize he is NOT a hero. He is scum. But it's a good reminder that even scum bags can do heroic things, and that's what confuses us.

This Guardian article was mentioned up-thread, but I don't think it was linked. It appears, from reading this, that British spies had evidence of Trump collusion with Russia back in 2015, because they were spying on Russians (of course) and the Russians connections with Trump were swept up in their normal ops.
My inference from this article is that hard evidence (probably recordings) already exists proving the Trump/Russia collusion, but cannot be used in a US court because it's classified. Some IC experts on Twitter floated this idea a while back, and it now seems supported by this reporting.
I think the reason Mueller is taking so long is because the collusion is so complex and far reaching, and he doesn't want his investigation shut down until he has it all (and you KNOW the Repugs would jump on any excuse to shut it down).

Rudy is scum. There were whispers about him being corrupt and tied to Russia but nothing proved. It would not surprise me though. He became famous as the Italian who busted Gotti and broke up the Italian Mob. It was a big deal and he rode it all the way to the Mayor' office. He thought he could be President at one point. It begs the question that since we definitely saw the ascendancy of the Russian mobs on the East coast during that same period, maybe Rudy and the oligarchs were on friendlier terms then anyone ever knew. He had cover because he made a lot of money off of 9/11 with his "security consulting" and he often hired retired FBI and NYC detectives to work for him As a former U.S. attorney, he was able to get all the gossip from the retired FBI guys and he was on very friendly terms with FBI agents in the NYC field office. So where's Rudy? Has he been out here publicly defending his buddy Trump? Have I just missed him because I avoid Fox "News" and the rest of the Right's propaganda machine? Or is he laying low hoping to ride out the storm. He may very well be assisting the investigation except I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. I believe Rudy is corrupt and he's hoping to ride this out. For all those years the FBI guys in the NY field office probably let him be because he was their guy. He hated Hillary. He and Chris Christie really went after her. Christie is another U.S. attorney who was smart enough to disappear, except he was advising Jared and Trump for a while. He's not a governor anymore. Bet he shows up on some witness list.

Look. Trump is a fucking thug. That's all he is. He's been heading a criminal enterprise for years. What makes me feel more confident, and not giving him and his ilk too much credit, is that there is definitely a worldwide effort by Intel agencies of our allies to get Trump. They consider Putin a dangerous threat and if Trump is allied to Putin it makes Trump vulnerable to exposure and prosecution.
I love it. Trump talks about firing Sessions, but he ought to be distancing himself from Putin if he wants this to stop. Except he can't because he is all tangled up in the money laundering and the corruption.. The international Intelligence community will get the goods on Trump. If he thinks for one minute firing Mueller or Sessions will fix things for him, he's wrong. And if he believes that allying himself to the Alt Right internationally will sustain him politically he's wrong.
We are going to push back really hard. And we are not going to stop. As for the "Fatigue" R365 and R366 talked about, here's how I deal with it. I have rationed myself. I don't watch as much TV news as I used to. I find that with a few exceptions, (Maddow) they only have one or two big reveals during the week and then "fill in" with panel discussions. Once you've heard one good panel discussion there's no need to sit through another iteration of the same stuff.
I do try to read the major articles in magazines like The Atlantic and The Nation, and the Washington Post. I never read the NYT anymore. If they accidentally do something worthwhile it'll leak its way into the news cycle. I mostly ignore the NYT. I think being discriminating helps with the fatigue. And I never watch the Trump apologists when they come on the explain, deny, or defend. Fuck them. There aren't two sides. When you're wrong, you're wrong.
But there is no way I will ever just opt out and turn it all off. You know, corporate lawyers do this to people who sue their clients. It's a tactic. They drag things out, they drown you in details and bullshit, all contrived to wear you down so you will finally give in or withdraw your suit. Well, I'm not going to get tired. All I have to do i remember that the Republicans never give up or get tired. They are relentless, and they are evil. So, no. I'm here. I'll just be smarter about how I keep up with things. We're navigating through a minefield people. We have to pay attention.

by Anonymous | reply 391 | January 2, 2018 3:55 PM |
R391 think about it. Why would the Russians risk so much in terms of their standing in the world, the technology, the exposure, the money, etc. if they couldn't guarantee an outcome? They were doing a lot more than offering technical support and money, a lot more than setting up robot accounts and fake news sites. Stirring up dissension, hacking the DNC, collaborating with WiKi Leaks, etc.
And they really did very little to cover their tracks. They have good Intel. They had to know we and the international intel community were aware of what they were doing. So why not affect the outcome. By stealing the election they took our strengths and used them against us. They mocked us and humiliated us before the entire world for our democratic values, etc. they made Obama look like a wimp and they literally took the Presidency away from Hillary, a woman Putin personally hated. There is no doubt in my mind that they affected the outcome. And the ploy of having Jill Stein come out insisting for a recount and having Trump's goons thwarting all efforts at a recount? States with Republican governors, and Republican Secretaries of state to run their elections? like Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida? None of those states had t o actively participate with the Russians. All they had to do is not get in the way when it became clear Trump "won."

When we read that someone in Congress got $hundreds of thousands from Russian sources we need to publicly ask him about that. Repeatedly. We can help turn up the heat.

Grassly and Gowdy are absolutely part of the list. Terrible people. We also need to be working with Indivisible. I got my e-mail for January listing their action agenda and the workshops and it's pretty comprehensive. I'm in Georgia, and we've been having workshops on Gerrymandering and election laws, since last Fall.
We need to be well informed and Indivisible was started by former House staffers and other policy wonks and activists on the Dem side. They're excellent. Even walk you through how to engage people in a productive way on an issue by issue basis.
I know several former Moderate Republicans who are happily active now that never were before. Because they learn about shit in a non confrontational way. Congressional staff always know how to frame issues effectively if they are any good.

There never will be, because criminals like them look for loopholes to twist and turn the laws and hire the best lawyers and polititians to create further loopholes until it's pretty obvious what's going on, but what can you do since it's all perfectly legal at this point?

HOPE HICKS testified for two straight days before Mueller, what, 4 weeks ago now? We heard practically nothing about it. Just like we heard nothing about George Papadopulous. Until many months later!
Hope Hicks is young, beautiful, and can only lose when all this shit starts to hit the fan - (and she knows just about everything!) - I bet she was helpful and may come out as one of the unexpected heroes when all is said and done. Just a hunch.
To quote Rachel Maddow, "Watch this space!".
Anybody else have a hunch about this?
by Anonymous | reply 411 | January 2, 2018 5:32 PM |
R411 whatever else you may believe about Donald Trump, he has no respect for women. None. Hope Hicks might be very helpful verifying certain things as far as time lines, or meetings. She may be cooperating about whether or not she was in the room when Donnie Jr. reported to Dad after his Russia meeting.
But Hope Hicks was not privy to anything seriously confidential that could incriminate Trump directly, except for maybe corroborating information related to an Obstruction charge and I'd bet on that. Trump compartmentalizes things. She was about messaging and making sure she promoted him or t least got him to talk about certain things in terms of themes.
I know this isn't a popular point of view because the media has pinned a lot of hopes on Hope.... But nevertheless I don't think she will be the smoking gun on this. If anyone has insider info that could be regarded as smoking gun material it would be Kelly Ann Conway. She is smarter, older, and understands politics, data and polling numbers, etc. and she was his campaign manager so she operated on the team with the guys.
by Anonymous | reply 412 | January 2, 2018 5:44 PM |
One more thing. Hope may very well have been in the room when they were strategizing about how to handle the "Russian dirt on Hillary."

Undeniably. But Hope Hicks strikes me as being one of those women who live to serve men who treat them like crap. Like a lot of conservatives, they live to submit to the alpha male.
Speaking of HH, is she still working alongside Trump? If she’s still there, glued to his side, I gather she tried to cover for him. If she’s MIA, then there’s an interesting story a-comin'.

R412 You may be right about Hicks. But how much would Felix Sater know and how helpful could he be? I just read this on Seth Abramson's Twitter feed:
"The evidence that Trump business partner Felix Sater is a cooperating individual in the Mueller probe is now overwhelming—and if he is, he's the most dangerous witness against Trump Mueller has (and that *includes* Flynn and Papadopoulos)."

Seth Abramson's latest thread: The evidence that Trump business partner Felix Sater is a cooperating individual in the Mueller probe is now overwhelming—and if he is, he's the most dangerous witness against Trump Mueller has (and that *includes* Flynn and Papadopoulos)
Ties Trump and Co. - family and "friends" to Russian Mafia, Putin, Russian deals, etc. all the way back to the early 2000's. Alleges that Trump even rigged the Miss Universe Pageant to let Putin's then girlfriend/mafia princess win the title, so as to ensure deals down the road.
Heat up the popcorn, ladies, this House of Cards is crumbling and it's gonna be fun to watch the fallout. I hope they televise all of it like they did the OJ trial.
by Anonymous | reply 437 | January 2, 2018 7:33 PM |
Remember, Felix Sater turned states witness in a huge money laundering scheme in NY years ago.....and was charged but never sentenced because the DOJ has been using him as an informant for years since.....and thats straight out of Loretta Lynchs mouth while testifying before congress a few years ago. So lord knows what Sater has on Trump and if hes been playing double agent all along.

by Anonymous | reply 441 | January 2, 2018 8:30 PM |
True R441, that is why Trump won't fire Mueller. He is slowly building a case against the DOJ and Mueller as corrupt and undermining any decision they reach. Unless of course it favors him. Then all will be forgotten.

R441, the masses are an inch from mutiny. Charlottesville? Women's March? But I agree with your sentiment, too many are frozen in apathy. We need to firmly SHAKE these people or of their trances. This is the time to rile up every single person you know -- TELL them how the GOP is ducking them. ONLY point out to people the direct examples of he they are directly being negatively impacted. CHALLENGE people who are angry at BLM and the Kneelers. I've been saying to people around me, with dripping sarcasm, "oh yes, the football players are SUCH pieces of shit. Watch a black man get shot in the back by police, and they are using their ONE chance to stand up for their own people. What pieces of SHIT! They clearly hate this country! What the fuck would YOU do if you saw your friends getting *murdered* repeatedly by police......nothing?" Those of us in the Midwest who are progressive I believe have an enormous burden, WE are on the front lines of their ignorance. Call it what it is when you hear it, IGNORANCE! I was raised blue-collar. Yes, soooooo many are bad people, maybe half. But "none" of them likes being called ignorant. So just ask them, "you want the rest of the world to think you're a fucking hillbilly? Our country is founded on giving "everybody" a chance." They can be shamed, some of them.

R425 I never said she was inconsequential at all. I just believe that Trump is demonstrably paranoid and he does compartmentalize things, trusts few people, in addition to having contempt for women in general. So far from her being "invisible" in the room while he discusses incriminating strategies I think he'd make sure there were very few people in any room where he directly discussed his Russian relationships, etc. Now, admittedly he might have been talking about something important while she was steaming his trousers, and she is definitely going to be helpful to the FBI, but I still maintain she is not holding any smoking gun. And anything she said she heard would have to be corroborated.

Yes,R479, this is the link. I was so glad to see this because all the noise and the attacks are coming from the Right in support of Trump. They're really intense. So this makes Congress and all those fucking committees look bad. And it's about damned time the news media began to cover this with a level of intensity and to cover it 24/7/365. We need to put huge amounts of pressure on Congress. Once this stuff is exposed in the Media it ought to greenlight our calls and social media contacts and really start pressuring Congress to act.
We are in a dangerous position. They are lining up their ducks. Do you think all these incompetent but loyal candidates for judicial appointments are just happenstance? Do you see the speed with which they're appointed? This is all part of politicizing the entire criminal justice system to attack dissent and political enemies at a level unprecedented in our history. To normalize and legitimize the kinds of attacks Trump is engaging in. And Net Neutrality is another nail in Democracy's coffin. Because not only will they break up access to the internet and start charging ridiculous amounts of money, they will in effect censor and limit information in ways we have not even considered.
Once they have achieved voter suppression and made it legal, legalized censorship, and completely subverted the Legal system in our country, we a re fucked. The damage Trump and his gang are doing will be very hard to undo. We have to pressure Congress to act now. The world is watching. Every single bit of pressure we can bring to bear has to be done.

R482, in my lower moods I feel the same. But I will say this. Our country has so many god damn lawyers, there's just NO WAY we will stop fighting. Every single landmark societal change came through our courts. No one ever would have believed that a small team of black lawyers (Brown Vs Board, 1954 I believe) would be the case that would literally change the entire structure of American schools. This shit will be sued from every single we can imagine and then some. There will be at least one group of them devoted solely to getting his judges removed. It's going to be a ton of work, decades. But I do believe we have enough patriotic lawyers to fight this, and not just give up. CREW lost their first round on the Emoluments Clause, but now the appeals begin. If you can afford to, donate to groups like ACLU, SPLC, and CREW. They need funding.

I'm not sure people truly appreciated the importance of Clapper going on television and calling trump a Russian puppet. Former intelligence officials just do not do that sort of thing. The gloves are off. Soon after his interview the story leaked about the Australians telling the FBI about Papadopoulos. Now the Dems in the House are signalling they're going to release their own report detailing all the crap Nunes and Co have pulled, which itself tells us it must be worse than we even know. Now Fusion GPS is telling the Republican traitors to put up or shut up.

So many of them are dirty traitors, so far beyond what we could imagine, enough of them to be an evil network of treason.

I hope the press is relentless in pressuring the House to release the 21 HOURS worth of testimony from the Fusion GPS team. The fact that Fusion told them last August that the FBI investigation into Trump stared before they saw the dossier is HUGE. If the Committee thought Fusion was lying, they would have gone after them. Instead, they’ve just pretending like they didn’t hear Fusion.
The Fusion testimony lays out what their investigation into Trump revealed.
Trump has years worth of corrupt business dealings with Russia. Russia actively worked to get Trump elected by illegal means. The Trump team knew Russia broke the law to help them and they never reported it to authorities. Instead, Trump gave speeches encouraging Putin all along the way.

Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon has described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic”, according to an explosive new book seen by the Guardian.
Bannon, speaking to author Michael Wolff, warned that the investigation into alleged collusion with the Kremlin will focus on money laundering and predicted: “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.”
“You realise where this is going,” Bannon is quoted as saying. “This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to fucking Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr and Jared Kushner … It’s as plain as a hair on your face.”

R485, yes, and we need to be part of fighting back is all I'm saying. We have to take this and run with it. Make sure we are relentless in contacting individual reporters like Tapper, Anderson Cooper, and the whole gang at CBS, NBC, and MSNBC. Make sure David Corn and Joan Walsh and the reporters who appear on the various panels, and the members of Congress are on this. If you watch CNN and MSNBC, the members of Congress who appear need to hear us loud and clear and often. This was the signal, this opens the flood gates We have to be part of this. Be Relentless. That's my motto for 2018.
And R483, yes the lawyers will fight. And yes please give to the ACLU and the other groups. The Emoluments case wasn't discredited. I believe the court ruled that the group suing lacked standing to sue on those grounds. So we will figure out another way to come at them. It's still a legitimate legal issue.
The problem is that once The Right has corrupted the courts , we will have a more difficult time, and frankly time is not our friend. You cited Brown vs Board of Ed, but they were litigating Brown all the way up into the 70's and 80's, and the Supremes crapped out with their dramatic but useless "All deliberate speed...." They did not set timetables and specific deadlines, leaving all that to the states, and so various state and local school districts just ignored the order and refused to integrate. If it weren't for judges like Federal Appeals Court Judge Frank Johnson, (from Alabama) taking an activist role in insisting the decision be implemented nothing would have happened.
The Segregationists fought of every step of the way. A lot of children suffered and failed to get educated. Time is the enemy The other thing to remember is that Brown happened in the 50's and the 50's was also the "moment" when activists renewed their push for Civil Rights.
My point is that we can't simply rely on the Courts and the lawyers. They are part of the struggle but so are we. We have to fight too, and raise hell by putting pressure on Congress and the News media. because without the News Media spotlighting this and raising hell about it every fucking day, Congress will skate.
They are publicly and very deliberately undermining our law enforcement and criminal justice system, by attacking the FBI and the Department of Justice. They are appointing completely incompetent people to the federal bench with lifetime appointments. They're laying the groundwork for censorship and attacking the free press and individual reporters and news outlets daily. Every gain they make is a huge loss for us.
by Anonymous | reply 503 | January 3, 2018 1:48 PM |
Republican members of Congress claim they're scared of their constituents and they have to please them. So lets make them scared of us. If they don't hold town Halls lets hold town halls for them. Let's go to their offices. Let's use twitter and social media to embarrass them and shine a huge spotlight on them and pressure the media to cover it.

This is the only thing that will make any difference. Republican lawmakers don't care if you flood their switchboards and offices -- many of them figure they're going to be swept away in a blue wave, so they're focused solely on enriching themselves and their future employers in the time they have left.

More Bannon quotes from the Guardian...
How do the Republicans in Congress continue to ignore investigating Trump’s financial ties to Russia now?
[html removed] “You realise where this is going,” he is quoted as saying. “This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to fucking Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr and Jared Kushner … It’s as plain as a hair on your face.”
Last month it was reported that federal prosecutors had subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank, the German financial institution that has lent hundreds of millions of dollars to the Kushner property empire. Bannon continues: “It goes through Deutsche Bank and all the Kushner shit. The Kushner shit is greasy. They’re going to go right through that. They’re going to roll those two guys up and say play me or trade me.”
Scorning apparent White House insouciance, Bannon reaches for a hurricane metaphor: “They’re sitting on a beach trying to stop a Category Five.”

What's important in that Guardian article quoting Bannon is watching how Bannon thinks. He criticizes the metting in Trump Tower with the Russians, because he would have handled it differently. Meet in a holiday Inn in New Hampshire. Make sure it's the lawyers meeting the Russians not you. Make sure you set up a dump with Breitbart to keep the "dirt on Hillary" away from mainstream and then they'll pick up on it. etc. he's smart. Cunning. No dubt in my mind he and the Mercers are planning something for 2018 in cooperation with the Trump Gang. The thing to keep in mind about the 2018 elections is that a lot of the people who ran the Trump operation are now compromised. Tell me who will work on behalf of these people. Well, you have Frank Luntz who is vermin. And you'll get who ever Ryan and McConnell and their guys can find.

Lindsey Graham as chair of Judiciary could fuck all this up. He is very unpredictable. He will take the temperature of the people back home and he will either keep supporting Trump or he'll go for the jugular. With guys like Al Franken out of the way, and in the House outspoken members like Conyers who was the Ranking Dem on Judiciary, some of the main people who help shape public opinion and draw attention to the shady dealings are now out of the picture. Graham is dangerous because he knows the parliamentary rules and how to use every gimmick at his disposal to make shit difficult.

R512, you're right. What I get pissed off about is the weight, the credibility, and the time this crap is given. Maybe I'm paranoid because of what they did to Hillary and continue to try to do to her. But if they cover this they need to contextualize it. There are too many people out here who think the Trumpettes are a significant number of people instead of realizing they are fringe people. What it does is creates a bandwagon effect. There are people who are easily led and swayed by the bullshit they read in the enquirer and see on Faux. Laura Ingraham, Jeannine Pirro, Rush Limbaugh, etc are all having an effect and then the mainstream media treats this with a level of credibility it doesn't deserve. Instead they need to report it and shit all over it when they do.

SIREN: "Steve Bannon was certain that after the (July 2016 Trump Tower) meeting, Trump, Jr. had taken the participants to see his father," per excerpts from new Michael Wolff book, "Fire & Fury." Trump has claimed he was unaware any meeting with Russians took place.
This could be huge since they've been trying to protect trump by saying he had no idea this meeting to get dirt on Hillary from the Russians took place.

From the Bannon: Trump Tower thread:
Okay, this is really going out on a limb. (or maybe someone else has already posted this theory).
Funny how Bannon is the one Trump aide who has seemed to have no ties connected to Russia whatsoever. Wasn't at the June meeting, no private meetings on his own, (like Sessions, Manafort, etc.), and now he's releasing all this information. It sounds like something he has been a part of since 2014 or even before that. Working with the Russians and releasing all this information now might have been somebody's plan all along. (Bannon? Putin? The Mercers??).
Remember, Putin doesn't give a shit about Trump or even Trump remaining as POTUS. All Putin has wanted is to create tremendous divisiveness and kill U.S. democracy. To call Trump Putin's puppet is insulting to all other puppets!

Concerning Bannon and the Russian info dating back so far, I just keep thinking of one line that Rachel pointed out on her show the other night from, I believe, the Fusion GPS op-ed stating that all along there was information coming from 'someone inside the Trump campaign'. Here's the quote:
[quote]But in a New York Times op-ed titled "The Republicans' Fake Investigations" that was published Tuesday night, Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch said they do not believe the dossier triggered the FBI's investigation into Russian meddling into the 2016 election, adding that their "sources said the dossier was taken so seriously because it corroborated reports the bureau had received from other sources, including one inside the Trump (campaign)."
You just know that "including ONE" is driving Trump insanely paranoid right now.

I think Mueller would have held off on the indictment if that was the case and kept using him in that capacity.
I, too, am concerned that Bannon has planted all of this as "fake news".

by Anonymous | reply 535 | January 3, 2018 5:44 PM |
I doubt it was Bannon as the "insider source" mentioned in the dossier. Don't look for some Watergate style "Deep Throat." The Trump people are wackos with no sense of discretion.Like Papadopoulis getting drunk and talking to the Australian. If there was anyone deliberately leaking it was likely someone like Kelly Ann who was a notorious press leaker for years.
Don't forget, Bannon was part or Strategy. He was working very closely with Cambridge Analytica, Facebook advisors, Wiki Leaks, etc. and...ta da.... Jared on analyzing voter behavior and which states they could manipulate voter outcomes. Jared was probably the figurehead who reported back to the top of the pyramid on that stuff.
To the degree Donnie, Jared & Paul Manafort were meeting with Russians representing hacked data, Cocaine Steve Bannon, who is also a paranoid alcoholic, may have felt they were encroaching on his stuff, and interfering, so now he's happy to throw them under the bus.
Just remember. Russians hacking our elections and affecting the outcome...and they did, ...flows directly into what Bannon and the Mercers were doing, and Bannon will be brazen enough to lie about it to everyone including the FBI. Even though the FBI very likely has hard evidence to dispute his claims . Right now for Bannon, the revenge portion is playing out.

R529 It wasn't Papadop because it was part of someone else's info that gave the FBI the information on GP.
But I do think Bannon could possibly have been the primary leaker to Wapo and the NYT since entering the WH. Again, part of the overall plan. First, Bannon was assigned to sidle up to Trump (along with Manafort and Flynn, all three possibly hired independently not knowing what the others were doing); Second, election is fixed so Trump wins election. Paul Manafort has filed a lawsuit challenging the broad authority of special counsel Robert Mueller and alleging the Justice Department violated the law in appointing Mueller.
The legal action represents a new tack in a broader effort by supporters of the President to push back on the special counsel. Some Republicans have begun publicly calling for Mueller's probe to be shut down. Manafort's attorneys have echoed the President's criticism that Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election is pursuing crimes that never happened.

R555, great idea. That's exactly what we need to be doing. And not just Grassley and Graham. We need to be all over social media with the press and the Congress. Trump has yet to implement the RUssian Sanctions Congress passed and he signed into law too. WTF is Congress doing about th? Put fucking pressure on all their asses. and make sure the media is asked the same questions. Pressure the media, & pressure Congress.
Joy Reid and Chris Hayes aren't the only ones. Fox is being referred to frequently by many talking heads as State-sponsored TV, or Trump TV. They spend so much time on Hillary it's as if she were still President. Jimmy Kimmel went out on the street a while ago, and asked random people if Hillary Clinton ought to be impeached and the majority of them said yes! Go find it on You Tube.
It will be interesting to see how Jeff Sessions reacts to Manafort challenging the legitimacy of a Justice Department official probe. This lacks standing IMO and is just for P. It falls within the strategy of attempting to de-legitimizing Manafort. Clearly Manafort has the most to lose. He's a dead man walking if he double crosses his Russian buddies. The fact that he is taking u the Trump line and the Trump strategy is the clearest evidence to date of Trump cooperating with Russia to steal the fucking election.

It's almost funny to think that Manafort's association with Russian Mob figures and money laundering crimes don't play into the whole probe. Ever heard of extortion, blackmail and kompromat? I mean really, how stupid do they think we are?
by Anonymous | reply 575 | January 3, 2018 8:46 PM |
Special counsels have a lot of leeway. Manafort is grasping, desperate, and plastic as hell.

R575 All the Trumpies have really stupid lawyers. It's not that they can't afford better ones, but better lawyers don't want to be tainted by them.

Since it's just about time, I have made a Thread and Link for Part 8:
Treachery, Lechery, Miss Graham's Bitchery: The Mueller Investigation, Part 8
by Anonymous | reply 578 | January 3, 2018 9:21 PM |
R578 There's already a Part 8 created by R574 !
by Anonymous | reply 579 | January 3, 2018 9:25 PM |
Oh no, okay, I will repost it for part 9 or part 10,
In humble bitchery, I am, yours faithfully,
by Anonymous | reply 580 | January 3, 2018 9:27 PM |
No use the link at R574. The one at R578 doesn't follow the proper naming convention!
by Anonymous | reply 581 | January 3, 2018 9:30 PM |
I already disavowed the R578 link as the creator, R581, but considering I was the original author of the original thread number 1 and also thread number 2, I reckon I can use any naming convention I want, sugarlips.
by Anonymous | reply 582 | January 3, 2018 9:34 PM |
Keep telling yourself that. You've been overthrown. The people have spoken!
by Anonymous | reply 583 | January 3, 2018 9:37 PM |
R583, as soon as I saw that someone else made a thread at %74 and I had missed it, I immediately posted here and on my thread to ignore MY thread. I am arguing that we SHOULDN'T use my thread because I don't want to dilute the posting. Why are you trying to stir up rancor where none was intended. Bizarre. Are you a troll?
(P.S. I am the author of threads 1 and 2, and treachery means the same thing as treason, so it certainly follows the naming convention regardless. )

[quote]Trump just released a statement accusing Bannon of being too cozy qith reporters and leakiing "false information." He also says Bannon has "lost his mind."
Girls! Girls! You're BOTH crazy!

Sweetheart at R584 it's not that serious. I was joking with you.
by Anonymous | reply 586 | January 3, 2018 10:02 PM |
I heard that in Bannon's book he makes criticisms against everyone, including Spicer.... and makes comments about his appearance.
HAHAHAHA... WHAT???
by Anonymous | reply 587 | January 3, 2018 10:04 PM |
Bannon can't talk about looks, R587, yes, but he does know from shit what the fuck was going on in that circus. It's about the ONLY thing I give him credit for.

R219 you sound delicate. Maybe get some help.
by Anonymous | reply 591 | January 3, 2018 10:35 PM |
Is Trump losing his mind more and more these days or has it been the same, steady pace?
by Anonymous | reply 592 | January 3, 2018 10:36 PM |
Bannon twitter an interesting tweet supporting Trump and signing it #MAGA. He isn't attacking trump. So I think in his mind going after the kids he's separating them from Trump. Not because he t hinks Trump is his buddy, but because Bannon needs to appear to have a constituency to appeal to and the only one he has is Trump's. The GOP elected officials and party regulars hate him. Trump will not back down. Bannon can act as conciliatory as he wants, it won't matter. If trump keeps attacking him he won't be able to get a cup of coffee at a KKK rally. What's important about Bannon's quotes calling the actions of Manafort and Jared and Donnie treasonous s that he said it publicly and there's like no way he can go home again.

Ok, R586, OK -- it's just that Trump's nuclear threats have me frazzled :)

It's not Bannon's book, Bannon is quoted in a book written by Michael Wolff. And it's not Bannon that is described as criticizing appearances, it's Trump.
