I think she just looks her age 52. People are so used to stars going under the knife that they've forgotten what 52 looks like. People age DL and what happened was that photo was taken in very harsh, unflattering sunlight. Pictures are all about lighting and she needed to have had a softer lighting more in the shade. Every one of us have taken bad pictures so don't act so shocked.

She's not my fave or non fave but she realistically looks like a 52 year old woman. Once you're past menopause, the weight comes on without even trying and your body just reshapes itself. There's a huge shift that comes with hormonal change.

I met her about 30 years ago at a steeplechase in Charlottesville, Virginia and I was dumbstruck and stunned at her beauty and presence - I’d never seen anyone who not only was so incredibly beautiful but actually radiated. It was completely stunning. I don’t care how she’s aged - that moment is stuck in my head.

It's not a great picture, but she probably looks pretty good in real life. I doubt she cares, she's been/ done the incredibly gorgeous thing early on, with all the exploitation and queasiness as people stare at you like a cornered beast. Hi - Brooke was born in May 1965 - I was born in July 1965 (also female) .... I met her in the ladies room of an awards show when we're probably 20 years old - she was BEAUTIFUL and incredibly kind and nice - when at 20 she could have been a jerk to me - that being said - I agree - she has aged rapidly - she has a "hard" look - I look 50 - but I haven't had a lifetime of dermatologists, cosmetic dentistry or the money to be really proactive about preventive aging - that is my long winded way of saying - I hope that she is well!

Everybody stand back. I AM THE RESIDENT BROOKE SHIELDS EXPERT. I followed her most of my life because I always thought she was just unearthly beautiful.

1.) She has always had long hair (and seemingly refuses to part with it) because it's one of her few characteristics that made her feel feminine. She is almost 6' tall and without curves, has strong brows and features. The long hair was something that helps her feel girly.

2.) She doesn't want to do a lot of plastic surgery because she thinks it sends the wrong message to her two daughters. So, she's basically aging like a normal person. She has hooded eyes, and I foresee her getting them done (or a brow lift) at some point, and she can honestly justify it to her daughters as a vision-ralated thing.

3.) Her weight is up when she's not burning off colories in a stage show, because she's noticed she gets told she looks younger at the higher end of her ideal weight, or over it, as she gets older. It plumps out the wringles. (When older women are stick thin their skin, which has lost elasticity, just hangs on them, and it looks awful.)

4.) I don't think she drinks much or does drugs. She likes wine, but is haunted by the memories of her dramatically alcoholic mom.

5.) That nude pic of her at age 10 upthread is not from PRETTY BABY. It was shot by Garry Gross, and later incorporated into a more recent piece by Richard Prince called SPIRITUAL AMERICA (which has hung in the Tate Gallery). Well she is not layered in makeup and posed like a porn star in a studio with airbrushing like a Kardashian. Just a normal teenage girl. In real life she is ethereally beautiful with pale radiant skin and beautiful eyes. I always thought she was a twat because of her involvement with Michael Jackson. She pursued HIM, not the other way around. He was probably the most popular entertainer in the world at the time and she REALLY wanted to get "close" to him. She begged him to take her to the Grammys; milquetoast Michael asked his sister LaToya to tell her to back off, but LaToya told him to deal with it himself. In the end he submitted, and he and Brookie attended the Grammys together, along with Emmanuel Lewis. They were laughed at; they looked ridiculous as hell together, especially with Emmanuel Lewis as a kind of chaperon. Michael eventually came to realize that it might be a good move to have a "girlfriend", so he and Brookie had an "affair" for several years. After the sexual molestation accusations started to heat up she distanced herself from him, refusing to speak about him when previously she would always say "I love him dearly." She had nothing to do with him for years but miraculously popped up to speak at his televised memorial service. She and Michael Jackson were a really nasty business; he needed a beard and she loved the publicity of being his "girlfriend."

And then there's her college career. Despite low SAT scores she got into Princeton and was allowed to graduate without having to take the requisite math and science courses needed for a degree. Getting preferential treatment because you're rich and famous is not what you would call "nice." Face it: Brookie is just another spoiled celebrity. Nothing "nice" about her at all, really.

Surprisingly, I was agog she is so TALL. It's one thing to see the number 5'11 or whatever in print...but it's another to actually be in the same room with a female who is SIX FEET TALL.
