Gay / Bi NHL Players 2017
Hey Guys,
I just joined! There were some interesting threads on here in the past about who might be gay / bi in the hockey world. Most of those threads are couple of years old so I was wondering if anyone has any solid insight as to the current speculations within the NHL. I know that Brock McGillis came out in late 2016 but he didn't play for the NHL. In the past threads some were adamant that Lindros was/is in the closet and that Toews might be bisexual.
I recently started following hockey and absolutely love everything about the sport and the boys! Please share your thoughts and crushes!

Anyone seen any hockey players at a gay club?

I saw Mike Modano at an extremely gay restaurant here in Dallas in 1999...

Despite the do-called "support" of gay players, it's not a gay friendly sport. The fact that thriller are zero openly gay players retired or otherwise at the NHL level tells you everything. Don't waste your time op. Give your support and money to sports that like you!

Yeah I've heard of the Mike Modano rumours as well but the guy just seems to be kinda meterosexual

[R3] Its most certainly odd considering how many pro-gay messages and events have come out of NHL ( pridetape, you can play, LGBT ambassadors, messages of support from players etc]

All that glitters is not gold, R6.

It is a great sport. Played as a kid and still enjoy watching as an adult.
They players are good guys. The sport may not have openly gay players but they do exist. And at least the league is trying. You need to start from somewhere.

Any rumors? Wasn't there a guy that spilled his affair with Lindros here on DL?

There's not a lot of trying R8. From what I used to read on that awful Outsports site...that many of the players and team fight the gay organizations and don't want want to participate. A commenter who worked with that You Can Play group said it was not a great experience.

A poster who wrote for the site occassionally did. She was a woman. I can't find her posts in the fan post section which is where she posted. She said she discovered that the front offices and players on teams would put up a fight or simply not do it, or when they found out it was for LGBT youth they declined.
I don't want watch sports but it's interesting to me gays who seemingly how professional teams treat gays. But, everybody is different.

A male friend in his early 20's had an affair with Bobby Clarke of the Flyers back in Philadelphia in the early 80's. They would go to hotels together. BC said he'd leave his wife for my friend who met him through business. I remember that BC wore boxers.
My friend was the one who broke it off.

One of the Broad Street Bullies is gay?

Elderqueen Wayne Gretzky would go to gay bars and eventually had to switch to hiring professional escorts in case he was recognized in public. Finally, he purchased a beard who was quite happy to marry him for the security it offered.

In 1991 Stephane Richer who played for the Montreal Canadians was hastily traded to New Jersey Devils, the reason rumored to be because of his involvement with an almost, but not quite legal aged male in Montreal. An arrangement was allegedly made for a certain amount of cash and a "get the hell out of town" stipulation.

Hopeful for rumors about Gabe Landeskog, the blond bomber.

I can't start new theads, so wonder if someone could start a new thread with the topic of famous ball players that were gay, including NFL NBA MLB etc. Thanks, and yes I have some contributions.

r26, how recent is that pic? He looks hot as fuck there.
And yes, r21. Heavy rumors re Seguin. God, he's sex on a stick.

R29, It's the picture on the 2018 Canadian hockey team page so I want to say it's recent but I'm not sure.

That Tyler Seguin is very homophobic--not just his anti-gay stuff on his social media. Just sayin..

How’s everyone’s team doing so far this season?

When Raffi Torres played for Vancouver, there was talk of him being gay. He's been shuffled around to a bunch of teams since, and I'm not sure but he might have just retired.
He threw hissy fits off the ice, and media just seemed to tire of him and allude to his preference sometimes.

Also, and I've only been to a game once in recent past due to ticket prices - The Canucks have a huge gay following at their games. There's even a section that appears to be where sisters prefer to sit together.
I hate the Canucks, so it's not like I talk with anyone. And I'm not saying anything to be miserable or spiteful, but it's what I've observed and deemed relevant enough to share on this thread.

Is anyone on DL watching hockey this season?

Me, but my team turn into a bunch of corporate douchebags with an asshole coach and a scandal tainted front office. If the Weinstein fallout continues, our GM might be in the crosshairs. On topic, our President was a hot fuck back in the day who would do anything that moved, male or female. He was traded more than once during his career for it.

r38 Wayne Train! I've always coveted him for us. He's from the GTA, and he's a perfect, throwback player. Straight, AFAIK.
I wonder about the new crop in the last few years. All it would take is one prominent rookie, and I think the floodgates would open.
Oh, and JT and Seguin are (allegedly) genuinely bi, not gay.

Tyler Seguin? Really? Dallas is such a ragged bunch of misfits that don’t seem capable of social skills beyond a grade 9 level.

There was lots of rumours of cam Fowler I think he plays for Anaheim now back when he played for Windsor... Rumours about tyler seguin being bi have been around for as long as he’s played
