Alice Cooper should be winning.

My favourite is Part 3. I hated Part 9 (Jason Goes To Hell).
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 8, 2017 7:41 AM |
I'm starting over! I just watched part 8.
The actor in this is so cute, too bad he's way into religion.

Wasn't the final girl in the first one from Captain & Tenielle?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 9, 2017 3:00 AM |
I actually love Part 7 and find it woefully underrated.
It was the first Friday the 13th I ever saw in the theater and I was enthralled. It also made me gay for Kevin Spirtas, who is now openly gay himself.

R11 So damn sexy.

I thought the cutest was the guy who was the sci-fi nerd. Was the pot smoking guy gay? I think he might be the only straight male, aside from Kane Hodder, in that film.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 10, 2017 1:32 PM |
Yeah, that's him. I was 11 when I saw it in the theater and thought he was adorable.

He is cute.

I think I read in the Crystal Lake Memories book that he was one of the gay ones.

I think giving Tina telekinetic powers was Friday the 13th's way of copying the success of Elm Street 3: the Dream Warriors.

by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 10, 2017 3:00 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 10, 2017 3:01 PM |
I liked part 7 too. A lot of it ended up on the cutting room floor, which is why I think it wasn't so well received.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 10, 2017 3:08 PM |
I didn't know that R25.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 10, 2017 3:13 PM |
R26 The Friday 13th movies were specifically reviled by the MPAA in the late 80s over the perceived level of violence they had got away in earlier entries, so the movies from part 5 onwards were subject to far heavier censorship than parts 1-4.
Part 4 was the goriest and tricked the MPAA into passing it as an R. They filmed a lot more gore than was ever intended to be used, and then submitted the whole thing to the MPAA knowing they'd reject it and tell them to "cut something" without specifying what (as the MPAA have a tendency to do). They cut out all the extra gore and went back to them, telling them they'd cut out a huge amount (which was true), and were then given a rating.
It's the only entry in the series which is entirely uncut, but the MPAA caught on to the ruse and started to demand detailed lists of cuts for the later movies, that's why parts 5 - 8 are so bloodless.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 10, 2017 3:25 PM |
Is that a form of dyslexia? Watching backwards in sequence? Because my mother's entire generation had that!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 10, 2017 3:25 PM |
Wow. Thanks, R27. I'll pay attention to the bloodlessness in part 6 tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 10, 2017 3:46 PM |
The bloodlessness of part 6 has more to do with the director than MPAA, R29.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 10, 2017 5:15 PM |
While watching the series you can play "catch the soap opera actor".
The series has TONS of soap actors in the films.
Even the creator of F13, writer Victor Miller, became a big soap opera writer from 1982 starting with One Life to Live until 2007 with All My Children.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 10, 2017 5:34 PM |
Thanks R32! Was the director hoping for more a family friendly Friday or something?

Part 6 now!
Tommy Jarvis is an interesting character in franchise film. He went from Corey Feldman, to some awkward - almost mute geek in part 5, to hot stud in part 6.
Feldman should continued to play this role. It's weird he didn't and I can't help but think he turned the role down because he was "too good for it"? This was before Stand By Me and Goonies. Still, money in the bank and a franchise he could still be doing, even possibly today.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 11, 2017 12:57 AM |
"You in showbusiness, kid because you sure know how to make an entrance".
Omg, what a HORRIBLE line!

[quote]This was before Stand By Me and Goonies. Still, money in the bank and a franchise he could still be doing, even possibly today.
Part 5, in which Corey appeared briefly at the beginning, was the same year as The Goonies and right at the cusp of his career blowing up. From that point on in the '80s he was constantly working on other movies (Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, License To Drive, etc.) so it's unlikely that he'd return to do another F13th movie. Besides, they aged Tommy from a teen to a 20-something year old in part 5, so it's only natural that an adult would continue to play him.

Are you kidding? That mute geek (John Shepherd) was a hot stud too!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 11, 2017 1:26 AM |
If Feldman was written out, that's one thing, but if he turned down the roles, that's another. He should reprise his role at Tommy Jarvis.
That being said, Part 6 was where they used the REAL Jason and not an imposter like in Part 5 that upset a lot of fans, from what I've read.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 11, 2017 1:29 AM |
He is hot R40. I take it back.

The otherwise rubbish Jason Takes Manhattan has what is arguably the best F13th theme song...
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 11, 2017 1:48 AM |
It DOES, R58! I love that song!
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 11, 2017 1:49 AM |
You know, I watch Jason Takes Manhattan only for that song. I love it.

"Don't clown around".
"I'm not the one with the red nose".
The lines are so hokey in part 6 lol!

There are so many plot holes between 5 and 6. In 5 Jason was supposedly cremated, but in 6 he was buried and resurrected from the ground.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 11, 2017 2:05 AM |
Contrary to what little consensus exists for these films, I LOVE Part V and it may very well be my favorite of the series (Part 8 is close second). With Part V there's never a dull moment. It's such a weird, consistently amusing, groovy little audience - pleaser of a film that it makes me wish Danny Steinmann (Savage Streets) hadn't had such a truncated career due to a motorcycle accident. First of all, it's a genuine mystery with a resolution so absurd as to render the whole film overtly comedic in retrospect. I've seen it many times and I'm still not quite sure what the villain (spoiler: not Jason!) was thinking. Then there are the dozens of entertaining moments sprinkled throughout: goth chick Violet doing a hilarious robot dance alone in her room; a tense, well - directed exchange between two unstable teens at the halfway house; a little boy improbably manning a bulldozer and coming after Jason with it; an amusing, self - aware moment in which Steinmann has a female character stoically pull down her top and expose her breasts in a mirror to no one but the audience (apparently this was his F - You to the producers, with whom he had major squabbles over content requirements); the most obnoxious redneck mother and son in film history; a full - on chainsaw vs. machete fight; it goes on and on. This film is midnight madness, audience participation heaven.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 11, 2017 2:10 AM |
Part 5 is their 'season of the witch' moment which makes sense to lead to plot holes
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 11, 2017 2:19 AM |

R68, the fake Jason was cremated?

Corey Feldman did his cameo in part 5 on a day off from the Goonies.

R74 Violet the "goth chic" from part V gets killed while dancing in front of a Madonna poster in her room.
I wonder if the producers had to pay Madonna?
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 11, 2017 2:52 AM |
Jealous? Yes. But not of you. Ever.
I'm jealous of F-13th Part 1 and an alternate universe allowing Jason to pull you into the screen and ensure your slow demise by axe, arrows and lake water.
The audience would cheer as you plead for your life while the arrows through your sternum pin you to the dock. The axe would strike horrifically close to your rolls of neck fat and lower body but never touch you. The damaged wood would cave and you fall into the lake water unable to move. Blood and fear would summon the gators.
As the gators feast, Jason would paddle away in his canoe and disappear into the night like John List.

by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 11, 2017 4:56 AM |
Yes, r37, Tommy Jarvis is the most recurring protagonist/victim in the Friday the 13th franchise.
I think John Shephard is a smoking "hot stud" myself, but I agree his whupped personality as the character was NOT hot.
I'm very grateful they replaced Corey Feldman and flash-forwarded to Tommy Jarvis as a young man. The protagonist should be a young adult and the later actors were MUCH hotter than the punk bitch that Feldman still seems like today.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 11, 2017 5:17 AM |
BTW, r37, Corey Feldman doesn't get to decide which movies he gets cast in.
Otherwise, every movie would have Corey Feldman and life would suck!
There is almost no chance Feldman could have been re-cast as Tommy Jarvis when the Friday the 13th producers and directors chose to flash-forward in Tommy's life much older than Feldman.
Why do you want to watch that lame, rat weasel anyway?
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 11, 2017 5:21 AM |
"Cort" from Part 6 was none other than actor Tom Fridley, COUSIN of Ms. John Travolta!
His fuck scene with the stereo on in the Winnebego was one of the formative sexual impressions of my youth — it DEFINITELY pushed me towards gay when I saw it on VHS.
I lost my anal virginity years later as a bottom in the cowgirl position, just like Cort's scene partner in the movie — subconscious fantasy?
This scene is still really hot to me.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | May 11, 2017 5:30 AM |
Alice Cooper's "Man Behind the Mask" song from Part 6 is my favorite song in the franchise.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 11, 2017 5:34 AM |
Yes, r63, they've been saying Jason drowned in 1957 since Part 1.
Only the reboot reimagined Jason's youth in the '80s.

I guess it wasn't my imagination when i thought part 4 was particularly gory. That scene in the beginning with the nurse was pretty brutal.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 11, 2017 5:42 AM |
I think Travis Van Winkle and John Shephard are the hottest guys to ever appear in the franchise.
But Van Winkle never got to show off his killer physique in the reboot, so I give it to John Shephard for the win.
The Travis that Friday the 13th fans missed:
by Anonymous | reply 89 | May 11, 2017 5:46 AM |
R34 I agree with every one of your choices.
I read in the Crystal Lake Memories book that the original male lead in part 8 was recast at the last minute because he acted too gay. Don't remember if they mentioned him by name.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 11, 2017 5:47 AM |
But you can still catch lots of Van Winkle's bod in another horror flick called 247°F.
He does the entire movie shirtless!

"Darkest Side of Night" isn't about Jason, or anything, explicitly.
Alice Cooper is iconic, his song is catchier and it's an anthem for Jason. Plus, it has the "Kill-kill, ma-ma" sound effects!

So what that it's not about Jason? It captures the spirit of dread perfectly while remaining catchy as hell (catchier than the cheesy Cooper song for sure). Everything about DSOTN is great, from the lyrics to the guitar and synth work to the Phil Collins-esque drums.

Was at a convention in Tampa last Sept. Marta Kober was there. I was in line at the table next to her. She was talking to a young man who was sitting with her. One of her handlers called him over and said guest can't sit at the tables because of the money issue. When he went back to the table, his cell phone was gone. He asked Marta about it and she said she had no idea, then took her purse and high tailed it out of the room. I saw him later and asked if he got it back and he said he hadn't. Very odd.

There has been lots of gossip about Marta on various FT13th sites. Apparently she grifts all over the place, Alaska even, and tells everyone she encounters who she is and her past fame and to google her. She's very proud of her breasts and likes showing them off (along with the cherry tattoo). And for more money, you can see (and get) more apparently. Eww.

I know Friday the 13th series isn't known for it's strong acting, but the "actress" Rachel Howard, who played "Chili" in part 3 has to the worst of them all. I watch this clip whenever I need a laugh.
She's a psychiatrist now, found religion and regrets doing the movie. She refused to be interviewed for any of the FT13th books or documentaries.

None of movies in this series is great or even good, but Parts 1 & 2 are the only ones I can watch. Part 3 I can make it through but it's pretty bad. I've never made it all the way through any of the others. The worst has to be the one where Jason is on a spaceship in the future. I made it about 20 minutes into that one before I gave up.

R124 and R126, I agree about Amy Steel being the best of the women in jeopardy. She was also the first one to face Jason since Janson's mother was the killer in Part 1. The producers wanted to bring Amy back for Part 3, but Amy's agents convinced her she should hold out for "bigger and better things." Amy did go on to have a so-so career in television.

R117, the guy that played Jason in Part 3 said they had to shoot that scene like 20 times because of Rachel.
I didn't realize until recently that Vera in Part 3 is Bernie's girlfriend in Weekend At Bernie's Bernie was the crooked psychiatrist in Part 7.
I would like to see people that never do conventions finally show up like Jeffrey Rogers from Part 3.

Jeffrey Rogers is a doctor now, don't think he will do a convention.

R130 I can only imagine how bad those other take are if what they used was the best they could get.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | May 12, 2017 6:02 AM |
I'm glad Paramount cancelled the reboot. I read a script review of it and it had a lot to do with Jason's origin story, which didn't work when Halloween tried to do that. Jason is such a low-rent character that if they tried to demystify him it would take all the fun out of it. I don't need to know his Daddy was a drunk, nor do I have any interest in empathizing with him.
If the hype for the new ultra-faithful, 80's set video game is any indication, it's that people want to see Jason the way they know him and love him. Hopefully it'll be a big success and they'll greenlight a new movie with this approach. I've always wanted to see a sequel that takes place in the snow. That's something new for the series, but would fit in well with the other films.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | May 12, 2017 6:03 AM |
I always loved the casting of the earlier segments. Good looking, ethnic East Coast actors. Not only were they relatable, there was something sexier about them than the generic Abercrombie models in the remake.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | May 12, 2017 6:05 AM |
The actors from the first two parts were NY based actors. After that, they used mostly LA based actors. Most of actors from the 80s Friday movie wouldn't even be considered for the reboots.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | May 12, 2017 6:19 AM |
I've met quite a few actors from the series at conventions and they have all been very nice. Of the final girls, I've met Adrienne King and Amy Steel the most times. They are both very sweet. Amy Steel is just like her on screen persona. She's the best. I've met Dana Kimmell and Kimberly Beck once. They too were very nice. All four looked great. Older but natural. None of them altered their faces beyond recognition. All the Jason actors are great guys. They are really fun to talk to and they really get into it. It's always funny seeing these people after so many years. Most have not acted since the 80's so it can be quite a shock to suddenly see them 30 years later. They usually sit at a table with someone who handles the money, and a few times I was not sure which was which. Tiffany Helm who played Violet in part 5 was one of those cases. She looked so different.

Yes, R136. When they humanize the villains, it ruins them. They did that with Pinhead.

But, I will buy Part V and watch it tonight!
by Anonymous | reply 142 | May 12, 2017 12:34 PM |
The actors and actresses from the East Coast filmed first 2 F13 movies came from the NYC theatre scene and the know defunct NYC soap opera scene.
Casting director Barry Moss has said in interviews that they purposely went after actors with soap experience since it showed that they could memorize a lot of dialogue and know where to hit their marks. Also soaps were HUGE in the early 80s so since they couldn't afford "stars" getting an actor who has soaps fans for a following was a win as well to being people into the movies
Amy Steel's, Ginny part 2, work as Trudy on Guiding Light, opposite John Wesley Shipp, is still up on YouTube from 1981.

Jason Vs Predator
JVP!
by Anonymous | reply 147 | May 12, 2017 7:30 PM |
Jason's entire life was based around summer camp.
A winter act wouldn't work since he hibernated during that time.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | May 12, 2017 7:42 PM |
R148, a lot of people go to lakehouses around the holidays for winter sports like ice skating and skiing. Snow and the cold would make for some interesting new conflicts.
There are about nine films where he attacks campers in a summer setting. I think they could switch things up without changing the series' narrative too much. I'm sure he'd kill any teenager he encountered, despite the season.
I don't remember any line from the movies stating that he hibernated during this time.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | May 12, 2017 9:14 PM |
His murderous rampage represents him playing out his revenge fantasy on a loop.
He drowned in the summer and 'wakes up' during that time as a psycho killer.
The ski bunnies in winter wouldn't trigger his revenge fantasy...
I don't personally endorse it, but I concede it wouldn't be any worse than Manhattan or space!

I read Nick Antosca's script (the one they turned down in favor of that HORRID origin script and it was 100 times better. It reminded me of Aliens vs. Alien. It was action packed. (156) yes Dominick Brascia (the fat guy who gets killed in part 5) molested Corey Haim. It was Feldman who introduced him to Haim.

Cory must have the other Cory on set.

by Anonymous | reply 180 | May 13, 2017 6:12 PM |
This is not the script but is a synopsis of what the new movie was going to be. Thank God they didn't film it. It's simple. Camp counselors/kids away for weekend. One by one killed in cool ways by Jason. One girl left. Chase scene. Jason dead? That's all I want.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | May 13, 2017 6:28 PM |

Part 2 has the best final girl by FAR (Ms. Amy Steel) and the best final 15-20 minutes- SO SCARY.
Part 3 has the best vibe and some great kills- I LOVED Vera and then her kill, LOVED Paul's eyeball!!!!! and even LOVED the canopy kill and intestines kill...
Part 4 has the best kills and best overall film- It really is the best of the series-
Part 5- WOW. Shocked by the love for this film.
Part 7- Could have been the best of the series, if the original cut had been left. Buechler is a gore genius!!

The F13 series has a HUGE gay following, ALL the authors who've written books on the series, including ultimate F13 expert Peter Bracke, are gay men.

by Anonymous | reply 216 | May 14, 2017 2:59 AM |
R216 right? Part of that is because of THE FUCKING HORRIBLE WAY THAT HORROR MOVIES ARE FILMED NOWADAYS
With the constant shaking camera, digital cinematography, scenes are always so dark, they barely use music etc
by Anonymous | reply 217 | May 14, 2017 3:02 AM |
Part 4 is the most Friday 13th of the series - it's got Jason, who was missing in part 1, the hockey mask, which was missing in parts 1 and 2, and a lot more gore than any of the rest (although part 3 gives it a good try). Plus it's wrapped in an early 80s hair and fashion aesthetic that was missing from part 5 onwards when it went all mid 80s and glossy.
by Anonymous | reply 218 | May 14, 2017 3:03 AM |
So right R217 and R218. It is the way horror movies are filmed today. It's all digital, too dark, and no music.
by Anonymous | reply 219 | May 14, 2017 3:06 AM |
R218 I think part 4 is the best SEQUEL. I think part 4 is when the series starts to feel 80s as opposed to the first 3 films, which have a 70s feel to them
Part 4 was filmed in the fall of 1983 and at that time glitzy, glamorous, rich people with problems nighttime soap operas like Dallas, Dynasty and Knots Landing had replaced 70s sitcoms as dominators of the ratings.
Dynasty single handedly made everything in pop culture more fun, colorful and glitzy for the 80s . The hair got HUGE, the shoulder pads were out in force and women wore 10 pounds of makeup
Parts V, VI and VII are the most 80s looking and suffer the most from the "bigger is better" 80s fashions.

The "found footage," "Let's rip off Blair Witch" trend of modern horror is pathetic, r216.
But the movies produced by James Wan are pretty good — the Insidious and Conjuring franchises. See Lights Out.
Ouija: Origin of Evil doesn't suck.
I also loved the Saw franchise, though I think it overstayed its welcome/ oversaturated.
Get Out is very well-loved right now.
The Boy looks campy as fuck, but it's actually very scary, realistic and heartbreaking.
I was impressed with the production values and adequate scare factor of The Pyramid.
You're Next was awesome.
I loved the reboots of The Thing and Chainsaw 3D.
The Collection was creative and scary.
And Cabin in the Woods is loved — I love that reflexive, post-modern humor.
And who doesn't like the #1 television show in America, The Walking Dead?
I think we have some great horror movies nowadays, but the diversity and quality invested in each one isn't what it was in the '70s and '80s. There are few indies truly coming from left field with originality. And the oldies have the charm of practical/ antiquated special effects.

My favorite kills-
Paul getting his head crushed and eye popping out in part 3.
The hitchhiker/ banana scene from part 4.
Kevin Bacon's in part 1.
The girl getting a spear to the back in part 4- It is done in shadow, the film pauses and cuts for a brief moment, and then Jason throws her against/impales her on the house. The editing makes it really scary.
Peter Barton's head crushing in the shower- Part 4.
The chick getting a spear through her eye in Part 3! (Loved her too, and wish Vera could have been the final girl)
Part 4 and Part 3 are my faves by far, however Amy Steel RULES and Part 2 has the scariest final 20 minutes- "Paul there's someone in this fucking room!!!"
ALL OF THOSE UNEDITED KILLS FROM PART 7- Damn!!! Wow.

Warrington Gillette ("Jason", Part 2) is such a lowlife, claiming to be Jason for the entire duration of the movie when he was only in like 2 scenes, raking it in at conventions and stealing people's money on kickstarter for some project. It would be fun to see an early story about Pamela as a young girl (The Badder Seed) or a teenage girl.

As mentioned previously most of the male cast in part 7 was gay. Its affectionately known as Frigay the 13th part 7. The actress from part 3 who was in the biker gang just passed away in December from an undisclosed illness. While Kane Hodder is the most famous Jason, true Friday fans like Derek Mears (remake) and Ken whatshisname (fvj) the best. While the new movie is currently dead it may be revived depending on the success of the new video game.

I remember how Fangoria pushed Adam Marcus (director of the awful Jason Goes To Hell) as the 'next big thing' and then the movie ended up being one of the most hated in the franchise.
Marcus hasn't had much of a career in the past (nearly) 25 years. Poor guy was only in his early 20s when he landed the gig. Just out of film school.
And now he's fat.

by Anonymous | reply 266 | May 15, 2017 8:24 PM |
Wrong, r262, a video game's success would never determine if a movie gets made, especially from a video game already based on a movie.
A studio would look to the film franchise for reasons to remake, not a video game iteration. That's already the primary reason to remake.
The studio already announced its intention to remake the movie. It's just a matter of timing now.
Truth is, Friday the 13th: The Game is a small release by independent game publishers with NO major hits to their names. It will ONLY be Jason fans buying this game -- no creative ground broken or new sensations.
Think of it as just another "authorized novella" from a big show franchise. The tail doesn't wag the dog.

The first film truly is a brilliant little horror movie. A post menopausal woman plotting and killing all these young kids, hiding out and just waiting in the woods and shit
It's creepy as fuck
Those poor teens never had a chance!
I sometimes think they made a mistake by centering the series on Jason, who was always supposed to be DEAD.
by Anonymous | reply 270 | May 15, 2017 8:58 PM |
I agree with R270. Rotten Tomatoes got it wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 271 | May 15, 2017 9:01 PM |
It's so original and creative. Films like that are rare today. Maybe the creative level back then was at an all time high. It was coming out of the 70s, which was an incredible time for movies so maybe they had ultra-high expectations.
Sigh, to live back then...
by Anonymous | reply 272 | May 15, 2017 9:03 PM |
If they remade the first one (again, but properly this time), they should introduce several elder female characters and there could be a whodunnit mystery around who Mrs Vorhees is. It'd be Mrs Christie, who's reopening the camp and killing everyone to try and re-connect with Jason, who she knows is hiding somewhere nearby and loves nothing more than dead teenagers.
Also, some full frontal male nudity.
by Anonymous | reply 273 | May 15, 2017 10:00 PM |
I wouldn't call the original film brilliant, as it was basically a gory rip off of a truly brilliant little horror film (Halloween), but it is good for what it is.
I watched pt . 2 yesterday and had forgotten that the plump butted girl got fully nude.
by Anonymous | reply 274 | May 15, 2017 10:23 PM |
There are way too many differences to claim it's a Halloween ripoff.
If anything, it was rushed to the table to exploit the revolution kicked off by Halloween

I think the post-Halloween film which came closest to getting Carpenter's creepy tone was the underrated My Bloody Valentine.

Great read R278.
by Anonymous | reply 283 | May 15, 2017 11:09 PM |
Based on that article, it's a ripoff of a ripoff.
I guess if you open up the parameters to be set on full broad interpretation, everything is a ripoff.
It's clear to me that F13 is much more than that which is why it exploded into a 40 year, dozen film, multi billion dollar franchise in the way the other rip offs didn't...
by Anonymous | reply 284 | May 15, 2017 11:16 PM |
Halloween is clearly the genius film when it's standing next to Cunningham's F13, but Jason and Freddy both had that spark that made them more than just another post-Halloween run of the mill slasher villain, hence why they both became multi million dollar franchises that were sequeled to death. There's no question that Carpenter was inspired by various films when he made Halloween, but Cunningham said it best in his own words in that article, "Why don't we rip (Halloween) off," which in many respects, they did.
by Anonymous | reply 285 | May 15, 2017 11:53 PM |

R289 yes Betsy was on for 2 seasons , 1988-1990 as Aunt Ginny
I remember when she was a suspect on Knots! I was having Mrs. Voorhees flashbacks
Also Lar Park Lincoln, telekenitic Tina from part VII, was a regular on Knots from 1989-1991, also 2 seasons and overlapping one year with Betsy. Her Linda character was a GREAT soap opera bitch, so different from sweet Tina in Friday VII
Linda was stupidly killed off is such a Friday The 13th way in Knots, she had her throat slit by a psychopath after was blackmailing him with a sex tape of the two.

I always thought part 9 was underrated. The gore effects were way above average and it was nice to see an entry that mostly took place at night. Plus, it had one of the greatest kills in the franchise. The guy in this sex scene is also really hot.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | May 16, 2017 11:39 PM |
I guess a lot of people hate on part 9 unnecessarily since we don't see much of Jason except at the beginning and end. The film still delivers in its suspense and especially in its kills.

I always say Halloween is the better movie, but Friday the 13th is the better franchise. That's mostly because it had a good producer (Frank Mancuso, Jr) who understood the formula that made these movies work and delivered what the audiences wanted. Halloween's mythology is so convoluted, with such strange and laughable diversions that it's now, what? The FOURTH time they're rebooting the mythology and making a sequel to Part 2?
by Anonymous | reply 302 | May 17, 2017 2:35 AM |
R303 The only good Halloween movies are the first 2 and maybe H20, the rest are somewhat entertaining but don't have the same rewatchability as the F13 series.

Bullshit, R312 aka Sean Cunningham. Halloween is the only franchise to have a convention solely dedicated to itself. They had one in 2003 for the 25th anniversary, 2008 for the 30th and 2013 for the 35th. Most likely they will have another one next year for the 40th, especially with the new movie coming out. Each one was packed with devoted fans excited to meet all those involved and take a tour of Haddonfield. They also flocked to see Jamie Lee Curtis when she did her one and only convention appearance in 2012. Friday the 13th and NOES have never done anything close to that.
by Anonymous | reply 315 | May 17, 2017 2:04 PM |
Elm and F13 may be financially bigger franchises, but neither of those villains are as frightening as Myers. Going by the first movie in each franchise, Freddy is second in the scary department. Ms. Vorhees and Jason from F13 pt. 2 don't come close.
by Anonymous | reply 316 | May 17, 2017 2:20 PM |
Halloween has never done close to the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises at the box office, r315.
Your anecdotes are just a testament to how crazy a fringe of people can be, as well as the commercial power of Halloween THE HOLIDAY.
Try not to wet your panties. I love John Carpenter and the first two Halloween films. Most Halloweens were even shot in my hometown — I had grade-school friends who appear as extras. I later worked with some bit players in community theater (the ambulance nurse killed at the start of Part 2).
But Carpenter didn't guide most of the Halloween films, so most of them suck.

by Anonymous | reply 324 | May 17, 2017 11:21 PM |
In reality, there were many films in the basic Halloween genre that came before.
The difference was the brilliance of the Halloween team in design, score, and marketing.
Some say box office is irrelevant, but it was that brilliant packaging that led to huge box office success that was 'seminal' and sparked the 'revolution' to follow.
There is very little that isn't derivative about the 1978 mega hit.
by Anonymous | reply 325 | May 17, 2017 11:31 PM |
One more thing:
I absolute adore Halloween and have seen it at least once a year since the mid 80s.
I don't want my opinions to strip it of anything it deserves.
It's a brilliant film that holds up amazingly.
I just think the myth of it has grown to crazy proportions over the last 40 years and probably needs a market correction...

Nobody's saying the first Halloween bad or denying the ground it broke.
I am contesting r315's contention that "Friday the 13th and NOES have never done anything close to that," meaning convention fandom for a horror film.
That's false. Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm street cast members go to all the horror cons. It doesn't matter that Halloween has its own convention. How many people pay to attend each year?
The box office of the 3 franchises PROVES that Friday the 13th and Elm Street have more fans than Halloween.
People love Jason and Freddy. They're iconic, they're remembered; they're sold in every supermarket as costumes for every Halloween because they're more enduring and distinctive and their franchises produced better and more movies.
So r315 needs to get some perspective.
by Anonymous | reply 329 | May 18, 2017 6:26 AM |
I also disagree that Halloween is more scary than certain Fridays and Elm Streets.
I think it's equally scary as the best Fridays and the first couple of Elm Streets.
And the sequels that Carpenter DIDN'T direct aren't scary much. They're predictable or cheesy.
I do think Friday the 13th copycatted Halloween, not to mention most of the slashers that came after it. But I think other franchises improved upon the formula and sustained more output: Friday the 13th, Elm Street, Saw, Texas Chainsaw, etc.
Halloween is not the best franchise in most horror fans' opinions and somebody here needs to accept that it's not perfect or pre-eminent.
by Anonymous | reply 330 | May 18, 2017 6:33 AM |
I know he gets no respect and most of his films are shit but I do love Pinhead.

by Anonymous | reply 332 | May 18, 2017 11:20 AM |
I like Hellbound even though it's an incoherent mess. I once heard someone describe it as "what a group of art students would do if they were given money and told to make a horror film", which is an apt description.
by Anonymous | reply 333 | May 18, 2017 2:13 PM |
I'm a fan of all these movies, but there is no film in either Elm St or Friday franchise that is as terrifying as Carpenter's original Halloween. That is a fact. The amount of money each franchise has made and whether or not one film has more fans than another is irrelevant.
What's also funny is how every film that followed Halloween went by the sex and drugs equals death/the virginal girl survives formula that filmmakers assumed Halloween established, but Carpenter has said many times that there was no formula. It just so happened that the good girl lived and her slutty friends died.
by Anonymous | reply 334 | May 18, 2017 5:30 PM |
I always hated when people would say the virgin survives slasher movies. Except for Halloween, it is never said that any of the final girls are virgins. Ginny, arguably the best Friday final girl, has sex in the film.
by Anonymous | reply 335 | May 18, 2017 6:17 PM |
"Scary" is an adjective and a subjective opinion.
It is not a fact. It can never be a fact. One man's "scary" is another man's "saw that coming from a mile away."

by Anonymous | reply 336 | May 18, 2017 6:41 PM |
I like the Hellraisers for the creativity of the designs.
But I never found them scary. There's not much to the plots. They just try to gross people out with gore, which is not my thing. I can't believe there's been 9 of them!
by Anonymous | reply 337 | May 18, 2017 6:45 PM |
Halloween has something (suspense and atmosphere) and lacks something (gore) that most of the copycats all had in common. To scare an audience is not to gross them out, which is what a lot of horror movies get wrong, especially the modern ones. What you don't see is arguably more terrifying than what you do see.

Nobody has 3D glasses lying around; nobody really buys 3D TVs (which don't work with old-school, Friday the 13th glasses, anyway).
Comcast doesn't give 3D versions of movies for free on-demand.
Just cut the crap, OP. You don't need to lie to make friends.

R368 - Yes, I have two pair of 3D glasses actually. Lol. They are right on my TV. The glasses seemed to work. 😎 It was cute anyways.

I bought the DVD version of Friday Part 3 a few years back and it came with the blue/red 3D glasses.

The DVD of Friday the 13th part 3 that I purchased came with 2 pairs of 3D glasses. Everytime I try to watch with the 3D glasses the picture just looks blurry and i immediately get a headache and take the glasses off.
Part 3 is tied with part 2 as my favorite. The soundtrack in part 3 is great. Also it's the first film where Jason gets his hockey mask, thanks to Shelly!

Andy's death in Part 3 is my favorite.
by Anonymous | reply 375 | May 20, 2017 4:22 PM |
I'm watching part 8 again because I love the music in this one, but also the guy in his blue panties from beginning. HOT.
Also, could Jason teleport in this one? Jason seemed everywhere in this one: Up the flag pole, mysteriously in New York (was he under their raft), or did he just appear there? I thought maybe he followed them underwater, but wouldn't he drown? He drowned before...

by Anonymous | reply 380 | May 22, 2017 2:08 AM |
If OP "bought the DVD that came with 3D glasses" @ r348 she would not have to ask "Is there a 3D version?" @ r345.
And her video picture would have been COMPLETELY BLURRED before she put the glasses on!
She also told us she was watching her marathon on Comcast @ r145, not DVD.
BUSTED, LIAR!

by Anonymous | reply 383 | May 22, 2017 11:21 AM |
Jason Takes Manhattan had potential, but budget made it Jason On The Love Boat.
This one shows the biggest fail of most of the sequels after four.
You get the kids together ..... they all interact TOGETHER ..they start going off of their own and they die.
In many of the sequels, the characters were random, didn't know each other and appeared on screen in their first and only scene and died.
by Anonymous | reply 384 | May 23, 2017 1:40 AM |
The remake was awful but it had the hottest guys.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | May 23, 2017 3:54 AM |
r380 no, I wish I did, though! The problem is these soundtrack reissues on vinyl are VERY expensive. Sometimes they average $50 dollars. Usually they are reissued by niche labels, hence, why they are so expensive. But the artwork is stunning and the vinyl is of high quality. The Twin Peaks soundtracks were also reissued on vinyl recently. They also look gorgeous.
BTW, the Friday the 13th Parts 1-6 soundtracks were reissued on CD a few years ago as a box set.

But I already have Mortal Kombat X with Jason.

The new gameplay looks awesome. The rooms in the cabins are exactly like the sets from the first couple of movies!

The posters who say Friday the 13th is a rip-off of Halloween needn't forget that Halloween itself is a rip-off of Black Christmas. Watch them back to back; it's shocking how egregious it is. Even the iconic opening shot is a direct steal.
I'm always surprised by the love for 3. It's the only one in the series I've never been able to watch more than once. Too flat, poor performances, and the pace is leaden. I like 8 despite all its faults.
I'm psyched for the new video game. My boyfriend and I got the NES version at a retro gaming shop a few months back and we've been replaying it a lot lately to get pumped for the new one.

That's been discussed ad nauseam, even in this thread, but the fact remains that Carpenter's film is a brilliant horror classic. F13th is not.
by Anonymous | reply 395 | May 25, 2017 1:58 AM |
What douche would dare say Friday the 13th isn't a "Brilliant Horror Classic."
Brilliant is debatable. But even if it stole every idea, it still functions as a horror movie better than 80% of horror movies.
Everyone but r395 would definitely identify it as a "Horror Classic." Only a few characters could possibly beat it in public surveys. It's exactly what people think of -- YES, EVEN MORE THAN HALLOWEEN, which was less seen, made less money and less loved than Friday.
by Anonymous | reply 396 | May 25, 2017 8:03 AM |
I am super stoked for the new video game, too. The beta and Early Access videos on Youtube look like TONS of fun.
Evidently, it's already available as a download through Early Access, which I subscribe to on Xbox. So I think I will have to download this and start playing Thursday night.
People are already playing the official version live!

[quote]What douche would dare say Friday the 13th isn't a "Brilliant Horror Classic."
One with actual good taste in what makes a horror film brilliant.
I think you're confusing popularity with quality. F13th's throngs of fans and gazillion dollars earned still does not make it a superior film.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | May 25, 2017 10:56 AM |

Wrong, r399.
You haven't collected every film scholar and critics' opinion on the matter.
You don't get to just make up facts like Kelly Ann Conway. You're like a bratty child throwing a tantrum when the box office has proven you wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 400 | May 25, 2017 4:28 PM |
So, it looks like the new Friday the 13th video game is only available for Early Access for press and streaming gamers.
I can't find listings for the game on the websites for Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Gamestop or Amazon, so I hope I can get a copy tomorrow.
It's not even listed in Xbox Live's marketplace.
by Anonymous | reply 401 | May 25, 2017 4:30 PM |
R401, there isn't a pre-order option for PS4 and a few other gaming platforms. I believe the company releasing it said that the pre-order process would only further delay the release of an already postponed game. It should be available for purchase on PS4 and Xbox tomorrow when it's officially released.
Also, it's a digital release only and there won't be any hard copies for at least the time being. So I hope you're able to download games on Xbox, PS4, or Steam.
by Anonymous | reply 402 | May 25, 2017 5:35 PM |
[quote]You don't get to just make up facts like Kelly Ann Conway. You're like a bratty child throwing a tantrum when the box office has proven you wrong.
Like I said, box office has nothing to do with quality filmmaking. There are plenty of garbage movies that made a shitload of money at the box office. Halloween is a superior film in every way to F13th. It's not only my opinion (and I actually like F13th), but any horror movie buff worth his weight in scary movie knowledge will tell you the same thing. It's not even debatable.

(R416) Ginny was a psych major (I think) and she was very intrigued about the legend of Jason and what his motivations were- even before it was confirmed he was real and was killing her friends. She already figured out what was going on in his head before she confronted him and used this knowledge to save herself by impersonating his beloved mother

Too bad the launch of Friday the 13th the Game was such a clusterfuck.
Quick Match making doesn't work for any platforms now, thanks to not enough servers and design flaws. And they only offer multiplayer modes! It was never pre-sold or pre-listed at any retailer or online store for PS4 or Xbox.
There's no telling if or when the game is truly going to work. That's too bad, because it's a REALLY fun game when it DOES work through occasional Private Matches that get through.
Read the complaints, excuses and weep!

by Anonymous | reply 475 | June 3, 2017 2:31 AM |
The game released a patch for some of the glitches on Xbox Live last week, but it's still glitchy as fuck.
Matchmaking doesn't really work yet — they aren't designed to be compatible with Xbox Live, so they're rewriting software. Still trying to add more servers, too. Even Private Matches lag out after 1-3 games.
But Private Match is the only way to play right now ...
by Anonymous | reply 476 | June 5, 2017 6:27 PM |
Can I play this game on my phone?
by Anonymous | reply 477 | June 5, 2017 6:42 PM |
BTW the game is very faithful to the movies.
When you play as Jason, you can pick from a version of Jason from each movie, Parts 2 through 9. Some are more powerful than others, which you unlock as you rank up in the game. Even the first version of Jason with the sack on his head from Part 2!
The game lets you play on 3 different maps — each one is the setting for a different Friday the 13th film. Crystal Lake has the cabins and shower facility from Part 1. Packanack Lodge has the settings from Part 2. And Higgins Haven has the family farmstead with the infamous barn from Part 3.
All the buildings, props, interior design and furniture look EXACTLY like what you see in the first three movies.
The counselors you play are not exact characters from the movies. They have different names. But some of them are nearly identical-looking to characters from the films. Counselor "Tiffany" looks just like "Tina and Terri," the slutty twins from Part 4. Counselor AJ looks just like rocker chick Violet from Part 5. Counselor Deborah looks exactly like Maddy from Part 7 — the nerdy girl who tarted herself up after losing all the guys to the hot chicks. Eric could be Shelley from Part 3. Counselor Chad is Travis Van Winkle's "Trent" from the reboot, just with an '80s sweater tied around his neck. And Counselor Brandon could be the little black kid from Part 5 wearing a letterman's jacket.
You also get to play as Tommy Jarvis from Part 6 (Thom Matthews version) if a counselor manages to call Tommy's radio and you get randomly selected from the dead counselor pool.
All in all, the game does great fan service. It will be awesome as soon as they can get it to work smoothly.

r474 obviously didn't watch the movie.
"Did you know a young boy drowned the year before those two others were killed? The counselors weren't paying any attention... They were making love while that young boy drowned. His name was Jason."
by Anonymous | reply 487 | June 6, 2017 11:52 PM |
Then why did r470 write this, r487?
[quote]Mom, please!! You should've let me get laid instead of killing off all the hot chicks. Just because your snatch hasn't seen any action since Lincoln was president you have to but in to my sex life! —Jason
I referenced the wrong post @ r474. R447 has nothing to do with the topic.
r470 is who I meant to reference. His post applies to Norman Bates, but not to Jason.
Pamela Voorhees never pestered Jason about his sex life and Jason doesn't have one. Pamela took issue with the counselors' neglect, not the sexual activity per se.
Norman Bates and the real-life serial killer he was based on, Ed Gein, DID have sex-negative mothers who tried to shame and guilt any sexual activity.

They could have just sampled Betsy Palmer's voice from the movie, r484.
But it's mixed on the soundtrack with the music, other lines and sound effects. It would be very difficult to find the clean audio recording of Betsy Palmer, if it still exists. There might also be a rights licensing and royalty issue.
Either way, having another actress voice-over Pamela is the easiest all around. Actress Jennifer Ann Burton does a good impression of Palmer in the game and repeats lines from the first and second films.
In addition, original actors Kane Hodder and Thom Mathews do their characters' voices in the game!

I know R489. But, I'm a snob when it comes to that stuff. The game or book has to be true to the source material or I'm like "meh". I'm a snob! But, I'll get the game.

I'm not a gamer, but (besides much improved graphics) that game looks no better than the Atari (I think) one that I bought for my nephew in the late 80s/early 90s) ..... running around looking for stuff until you get killed by Jason or escape.

Bullshit, r491.
The 1989 video game was one of the worst video games of all time, hardly better than Pac Man.
The new 3D/modern game requires live interaction through microphones with 7 other players who join you instantly through the internet. You have to construct realistic escape methods together or team up and kill Jason with the right tools.
It's just like being in a horror movie and choosing whether to fight or flee, with millions of possibilities that depend on chance and the personalities playing.
It's much more awesome than this bullshit:

Yes

Part 6 is my favorite.

For fun value, Jason vs. Carrie and Jason In Space are the best.
The (supposed) Final Chapter (number 4) comes in second and number one is first.

r497 I agree with you. I've always liked Part 2 more. Amy Steel is one of my favourite horror heroines and the last 20 minutes are intense and scary.

Part 2 is scarier than Part 1. Running Jason is more terrifying than Mrs. Voorhees.
by Anonymous | reply 503 | June 17, 2017 3:24 PM |
Part 2 also has the mystique of gay actor Tom McBride and his untimely death. It adds a whole other dimension to the film while you're watching it.

So, I just started part 7 for the 800th time and the narrator at the beginning - was he Native American? Were they going with a Dances with Wolves kind of start? Lol. I, think they were playing in the "legendary folklore" that's often associated with Native Americans.

Finishing up the book about the making of Freddy vs. Jason .......... Damn. Why it took ten years to get that film made is crazy. Of the seven (or so) scripts I've read about thus far, at least four of the drafts were basically the same storyline.
by Anonymous | reply 525 | September 4, 2017 10:43 PM |
Cool r525! Any good scripts for the Freddy v Jason? Any of them that stand out as better than the film?
by Anonymous | reply 526 | September 5, 2017 12:10 AM |
Some off script ideas R526 ........ one where the Fthe13th movies were based on a real Jason Vorhees (with a different backstory). About his trial and his public defender and how they somehow needed to use the real Jason to bring out and destroy Freddy.
Another one which started with a Freddy dream about a haunted house with serial killers where the serial killers turned real and started killing everyone. The girl woke up to find all of her friends at a rec center dead.
Most seemed to have the Freddy killed Jason meme and some had a Freddy worshipping cult of Deadheads.

by Anonymous | reply 528 | September 6, 2017 4:21 AM |
I remember the one with the Freddy cult. Im glad it wasnt chisen. Freddy v Jason was about as good as it could've been. The only issues I have with it is the cgi and Kelly Rowland's character calling Freddy a faggot. It seeed so out of place and nit characteristic of either franchise. Even the screenwriters hated it and said the studio added that line without their knowledge.

I'm pleased to announce that most of the bugs have been worked out of FRIDAY THE 13th: THE GAME. The game plays smoothly now.

by Anonymous | reply 532 | September 6, 2017 3:48 PM |
R529 that's how I feel about FvJ with regards to Kelly Rowland. I actually turned it off after that scene. Maybe writers were feeling anti-gay that day, idk. It's the only one I can't watch. That and the snake killing scene in the first one. Why kill a real snake? I don't get people.
by Anonymous | reply 533 | September 6, 2017 3:59 PM |
R532, have you played?
by Anonymous | reply 534 | September 6, 2017 4:07 PM |
They worked on FvJ for TEN YEARS. Much of the problem arose from the fact that both New LIne's Mike Deluca and Fthe13th's Sean Cunningham had to sign off on the script before filming started. And that just never happened.
Freddy fights Jason ................ everything around it is mostly irrelevant. It wasn't Merchant Ivory or Shakspeare.
Both characters had their own 'realities' and they were hard to merge, I guess. I agree that the movie they filmed stank.
The reason Jason X even got made is because Cunningham had it in his contract that if they didn't make the movie by date xx/xx/xxxx, he could proceed with another stand alone Jason movie.
There were scripts that brought back Steven and Jessica from Jason Goes To Hell and Alice for Dream Master/Child. Another had Rod Lane (Robert Russler from ANOES2)'s brother as one of the 'spam in a cabin' characters.
I'm on Chapter 10 (Script 9, I think) and I don't know how many are left. There's been a graduate student of serial killer myths bringing the characters back accidentally ................. Freddy and Jason in a boxing ring in hell.
Bottom line is they wanted a single movie where they could cash in as much as they could because why have the characters fight a second time ? And the scripts had to leave it all open for new stand alone movies (which ended up being shitty reboots). One script had time travel where a police officer made sure that Freddy's paperwork was signed correctly and he was successfully prosecuted (and the parents had no reason to kill him and start up the nightmare killings) .................. another had Jason completely evaporate after destroying his nemesis.
The book is a pretty interesting read.
by Anonymous | reply 535 | September 6, 2017 6:48 PM |
Rod Lane was in Nightmare on Elm Street Part One, not Two. He was Tina's latin boyfriend who Freddy hanged in the jail cell played by actor Jsu Garcia.
by Anonymous | reply 536 | September 6, 2017 8:10 PM |
In Elm Street 2, Robert Rusler was playing a character named Ron Grady -- who was in gym class with the main character Jesse.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | September 6, 2017 8:12 PM |
Yes, r534, I play Friday the 13th: The Game a little every day. It's a lot of fun since they fixed the memory leak and the frequent lag-outs that were occurring.
And r535 is wrong. It is indeed "SHAKSPEARE," cuz you can invade Jason's SHACK, steal Pamela Voorhees' sweater and use it to kill Jason with.
by Anonymous | reply 538 | September 6, 2017 8:43 PM |

Finally on the last set of screenwriters whose script was filmed.
Seems the movie was 'greenlit' because there was a takeover by AOL/Warner and they cleaned house at New Line and Michael DeLuca, the movie's champion at New Line, was fired for his public blow job controversy (female giving him head out in the open at a company party)
Sean Cunningham knew the movie would never get made if he didn't sign off on this script. He sent a ton of recommendations with his approval, which New Line completely ignored. But - CACHING - the movie made a shit ton of money, so they all finally cashed in.
The
The new New Line overlords had no interest in horror movies, so this was it. Let it die in development hell or try to make back all the years worth of development costs for the company.

Met the cast of Part 2 at a Horror Convention this past weekend. Russell Todd is still one hot DILF. Very nice guy too. I've met all the others before but they are also all very nice. Amy Steel and Lauren Marie Taylor still look amazing. Poor Marta Kober, her face is a wreck. John Fury and Bill Randolph I always have a good time talking too. They all had good things to say about the late Tom McBride. I've now met every living cast member of this film, something I probably will never get to accomplish with the other films.

So many of he scripts were very similar. It made sense to not introduce a Freddy cult into the mix; You already had FvJ.
I wish they'd made FvJvAsh. The treatment sounds like it could've been pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 559 | September 16, 2017 9:23 PM |
A Freddy cult? Hmm...that premise sounds eerily similar to a Hellraiser sequel. Forgot which one but I think one of them surrounded around a Pinhead cult. I saw all of them, even the dreadful Revelations.

R559, I agree. It does get tedious to slog through the summaries of each of the drafts. I skipped ahead to the filming of the final film. I wish they went more into the Renfro drama on the set, since that seems just as interesting as all of the other conflicts on the movie, but perhaps they'll go into further depth later in the book.

My post got lost ??
Anywhoooo .............. Todd Farmer, who wrote Jason X (and other horror screenplays) wrote an essay about 'faking it in Hollywood' and about how he was pretty much homeless after those jobs and was couch surfing and living in his car *near* L.A. while trying to get 'Hollywood' work, working a regular Joe job and trying to support his wife and daughter who had already moved back south. I think he relocated to try to work from that state and keep in the Hollywood loop.
Checked imdb and it seems he's had a couple jobs over the last few years, so I guess things are better.
I'll find the article I tried to post originally and re-post it .........
In the meantime, here is Todd's hot body and ass from his role in the remake of My Bloody Valentine, where he played the trucker who got the pickaxe in the noggin.
If I lived in L.A., I would've given him a place to stay ...........
by Anonymous | reply 563 | September 17, 2017 7:30 PM |
Here's the article about Todd Farmer's homeless ................. good read. Let me know if you think it is more of a 'story to sell a screenplay about it' kind of deal. Seemed legit to me.
And NO, R561 ,,,,,,, there is never another mention about Brad Renfro in the book. It seems more about the process of getting the movie made vs. a gossip about the making of.
