Penn and Teller

Any dish on them?%0D %0D I've heard Teller is gay. I hope its true, he's so sexy.

by Anonymousreply 65November 3, 2019 9:53 PM

Teller is gay, as far as I know. I've met them both several times. Penn is the biggest asshole you will ever know. Asshole doesn't even begin to describe it. He's also disgusting and a pig. Teller is very nice and intelligent and cultured. But off stage, he will talk your fucking ear off.

by Anonymousreply 1December 20, 2010 1:42 AM

Exactly what r1 said (asshole, disgusting, pig), and you can add misogynist and chronic know-it-all to Penn's description. But - strangely - he's not homophobic. At all.

by Anonymousreply 2December 20, 2010 1:59 AM

Many rumors about Teller being gay. I've seen Penn out and about at a bar and a club - straight as hell - and a HUGE douche. He totally uses his size and his voice to intimidate people. I HATE guys like that. Extremely unlikeable - huge ego. The worst of the worst.

by Anonymousreply 3December 20, 2010 2:04 AM

Gross. Sexy? In what parallel universe? These guys are libertarian (read Republicans who want pot legalized) assholes. I wish they would go away.

by Anonymousreply 4December 20, 2010 2:05 AM

Teller is definitely gay. He only became closeted when they started becoming famous as Penn & Teller. Penn is straight.

by Anonymousreply 5March 15, 2012 3:13 AM

I started to like his show Bullshit on Showtime but then the republican asshole side started to show through. argh. Why doesn't Teller talk on stage? I could never figure that part of his shtick?

by Anonymousreply 6March 15, 2012 12:53 PM

Yep, Penn Jillette is a fucking douchebag. Teller is pretty douchey too. Big Douche and Little Douche.

by Anonymousreply 7March 15, 2012 12:57 PM

I too think Teller is VERY hot! If He really is gay He is welcome to my bed any time!

by Anonymousreply 8April 15, 2012 8:06 PM

They suck (especially Penn)....

by Anonymousreply 9April 15, 2012 8:23 PM

It's pretty obvious Penn is a huge douche from his tv appearances. I've always been turned off by him and never understood his popularity.

by Anonymousreply 10April 15, 2012 8:26 PM

I'm amazed at their longevity. I saw Penn guest star on "Miami Vice" nearly thirty years ago.

by Anonymousreply 11April 15, 2012 8:30 PM

Met Teller at the Ritch St. Baths in SF in 1979 or so. We chatted, that's all. Not my type.

by Anonymousreply 12April 15, 2012 8:34 PM

I hate Penn, he's one of those libertarian right wingers and he thinks he knows everything - an annoying blowhard.

by Anonymousreply 13April 15, 2012 8:37 PM

I wouldn't say Teller has gayvoice exactly, but having seen him interviewed I can understand why he and Penn worked out this sort of well-behaved Harpo Marx persona for him to play while Penn does his aggressive barking asshole bit. It's a classic magician's technique called misdirection.

I used to hang out on a Penn and Teller fan forum years ago and while the subject of Teller's sexuality was treated as taboo somebody once told a story about seeing Teller doing the Hokey Pokey with another man, which I guess says it all.

by Anonymousreply 14April 15, 2012 9:23 PM

I know they work well together, but they aren't really friends.

Penn is a huge jerk. I met him at a party in the 90s, and he is that typical "I'm smarter than everyone" libertarian/new atheist. I casually said that I am an agnostic because I don't believe in absolutes despite my rejection of organized religion. And rather than trying to argue against that in a reasonable way or find common ground - such as our mutual cynicism on organized religion - he just basically called me a pussy for refusing to be a hard core atheist.

by Anonymousreply 15April 15, 2012 9:33 PM

I met Teller at my boss' house when P&T were working in Pittsburgh. My boss and P&T had the same agent so he arranged it. I did not care for Teller at all. Something very off-putting about him.

by Anonymousreply 16April 15, 2012 9:43 PM

Penn is the asshole who named his kid Inspector Pilot or something like that. Very nasty thing to do to your own kid.

by Anonymousreply 17April 15, 2012 9:45 PM

Penn and Teller were both nice guys when I knew them in (gulp)1978 or so. I was managing the BO for their first show "Asparagus Valley Cultural Society". The venue was a dump on Bway in San Francisco. It was pretty well attended but not sold out. It only seated a couple of hundred at most.

by Anonymousreply 18April 16, 2012 3:32 PM

R17--no, he named his daughter Pixie Crimefighter. I'm not kidding.

by Anonymousreply 19April 16, 2012 3:40 PM

Pilot Inspektor (with a K, yet) is Jason Lee's son.

by Anonymousreply 20April 16, 2012 3:51 PM

I have met Penn a number of times, and found him to be VERY different from his on-stage blustery loud persona. He was quiet, gentle, kind, and had a unexpected depth of wisdom.

The opposite of a douche.

by Anonymousreply 21April 16, 2012 4:51 PM

A Dutch motherfucker is trying to get away with ripping off one of Teller's copyrighted magic tricks. Teller's having none of it.

by Anonymousreply 22April 17, 2012 12:52 AM

Penn and Teller think circumcision is Bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 23April 17, 2012 1:14 AM

I find it interesting that the call "Bullshit" on everything except the "closet". I wonder why? Teller? Speaking of bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 24April 19, 2012 3:29 PM

Teller used to hang out in gay bars in New York back in the '70s and '80s. I used to see him all the time. He tried hitting on me once but he was already in his late twenties, had long hair and wasn't my type. He was very nice and well-spoken. After that I would talk to him now and again. Next thing I knew he was a big star. I don't know why he's so closeted now. He could have been a role model for gay youth, but it's too late. You can't be a closet case and a gay role model in 2012.

by Anonymousreply 25May 18, 2012 2:10 PM

I saw them in NYC about 20 years ago. I was pulled from the audience to be a participant. Just from the way Penn treated me and talked to me offside to tell me what to do was off putting. I was a little nervous, but he was a big blistering asshole to me, even though I was part of his act. I've never watched them since.

by Anonymousreply 26May 18, 2012 2:18 PM

Penn and Teller are both nice guys. I don't know why Teller is closeted. It's a shame, because there's no need to be anymore. He's a victim of his own homophobia.

by Anonymousreply 27June 9, 2012 3:16 AM

Penn's daughter's name is Moxie Crimefighter Jillette. And. . so what?

by Anonymousreply 28July 16, 2013 5:07 PM

FALSE. Moxie CrimeFighter is her name, and she's Jillette's daughter. He's married (quite publicly) to a woman. Teller has been partnered for a long time, but it's not exactly anyone's business whether that partner is female, male, trans, or any other variation. He prefers his privacy very much in real life. They are both friends of mine and good people, though Penn certainly hams it up for the show.

by Anonymousreply 29September 3, 2013 1:21 AM

They're libertarian asswipes.

by Anonymousreply 30September 3, 2013 1:43 AM

[quote]I hate Penn, he's one of those libertarian right wingers and he thinks he knows everything - an annoying blowhard.

Yuck. On their show "Bullshit" they really tore into AA, because it must be destroying property, lives and souls. It was full of misinformation, as were many of the other episodes, however fun they could be. If you watched more than a few of them, you could easily see Penn Jillette's black heart, as well as his own phoniness. He's pretty revolting.

by Anonymousreply 31September 3, 2013 1:46 AM

[quote]On their show "Bullshit" they really tore into AA, because it must be destroying property, lives and souls.

It does.

[quote](the episode on AA) was full of misinformation...

Oh really? And what misinformation would that be, pray tell?

I'm quite sure you are a proponent (and member) of AA, and if it worked for you, that's great.

But it doesn't work for most people, many of whom are literally FORCED to attend meetings (or else go to jail or be fired).

Particularly for people who are NOT religulous, the whole "admit you are powerless over alcohol and give yourself over to God and let him control everything from now on" is more than a little offensive, not to mention just plain impossible to do!

by Anonymousreply 32September 3, 2013 7:02 AM

How are there THIS many people on the DL who know Penn and/or Teller?? Like 5 on this thread alone! Are they that social??

by Anonymousreply 33September 3, 2013 7:24 AM

"Teller has been partnered for a long time, but it's not exactly anyone's business whether that partner is female, male, trans, or any other variation."

Bitch, please.

by Anonymousreply 34September 3, 2013 7:30 AM

Is Teller a bottom or a top?

by Anonymousreply 35September 3, 2013 7:36 AM

[quote]Teller has been partnered for a long time, but it's not exactly anyone's business whether that partner is female, male, trans, or any other variation.

Who said anything about his partner being trans?

OMG you guys, Teller's partner is trans!

by Anonymousreply 36September 4, 2013 3:55 AM

Penn is known as a teetotaler, it's bullshit, he loves to drink, also is no stranger to coke and molly, he's notoriously cheap, he's REALLY INTO the nastiest porn I've ever seen, but likes/prefers very vanilla sex, he's also the asshole that others have said he was.

by Anonymousreply 37September 4, 2013 5:03 AM

[quote]Particularly for people who are NOT religulous, the whole "admit you are powerless over alcohol and give yourself over to God and let him control everything from now on" is more than a little offensive...

I would say gathering statistics from an impossible to count or categorize set of people results in false results. Self-reported surveys are notoriously unreliable. Plus, it was full of all the usual contempt for things they had no knowledge of which is pretty typical. They acted as if it were some mandatory thing, as do you, which of course it is not. Oh some well-meaning judge might send a druggie there for a bit, but they usually get no jail time if they agree, so I would say those instances are a good deal for all, and as a percentage, I think are quite small.

People who CAN'Y stop drinking ARE powerless over alcohol, or they wouldn't have any problem just stopping in the first place, no? Perhaps you are more like those people who prefer everyone to be miserable, because they should simply KNOW everything already, but none of it is working, but are so unteachable, change isn't possible. Not everyone is like that.

Of course anything that is involved with any sort of behavior modification takes great desire to change, which lots of people don't or choose not to maintain, but I wouldn't fault any method of assistance. Why does anyone diet? Why go to a therapist ever? You might lose interest and then your diet/therapy will have failed you! See the twisted logic.

by Anonymousreply 38September 4, 2013 5:06 AM

Is Teller a libertarian too, or is that just Penn? Teller won a copyright legal battle recently against a Belgian entertainer who copied one of Teller's tricks on youtube. I've seen some people criticize that as hypocritical for a libertarian, and I can see their point except I'm not sure if Teller is actually of the same stripe as his loudmouth politically active partner.

Teller is a lot more cultured and intellectual than Penn when he talks, he's gay, and I've never seen him show up with Penn to political talk shows. That seems like it could indicate different politics.

[quote] I don't know why Teller is closeted. It's a shame, because there's no need to be anymore.

I guess these days the fact Penn has been alienating liberal fans with his political activism wouldn't make it any easier professionally for Teller to come out, but there was all those years before Penn opened his trap when Teller didn't come out either.

He and his closet have been left well behind other gay, high profile, talented magician/debunkers. The UK's Derren Brown came out publicly years ago, after comparatively few years of fame and a struggle with his former evangelical christianity. And James Randi came out a while ago despite being an old guy who would have spent a lot of his life in more homophobic eras.

by Anonymousreply 39April 26, 2014 6:33 AM

An internationally famous, now deceased, parrot (google African Gray) was introduced to P &T. The off the record word (I know the person closest to the parrot) is that he was chill with Teller but averse to Penn. Animals don't lie or put up with the contradiction of people who act one way but feel otherwise. Animals call bullshit, and that parrot called bullshit on Penn.

by Anonymousreply 40April 26, 2014 6:53 AM

My hag friend roomed with them when they were going to school She pretty much said Penn was a total piece of shit. He was dating their other roommate & they'd constantly fight. She liked Teller though. Total mo & really smart. She didn't get why they were friends.

by Anonymousreply 41April 26, 2014 7:47 AM

I personally think Teller is not gay

Interesting! Penn boasts a lot that he doesn't introduce foreign substances into his body, etc. etc. He also had a sex dungeon built off his bedroom, but says it's now being used as a closet because he had kids.

(I would LOVE to see more posts by a Las Vegas call girl, by the way!)

by Anonymousreply 43June 4, 2014 4:51 PM

Teller is a family friend of mine and he had a partner for several years he is deffenetly not gay should it really matter anyway

by Anonymousreply 44June 6, 2014 5:28 PM

Fake response. They didn't go yo school together. Penn a HS grad, Teller was a Latin teacher in another state when they met. Both are nice guys, most woud prefer Penn's personality, not obnoxious at all. Teller quite talkative in person, both are 'a' types. Penn does a lot of the trick manufactory and planning. Teller is, you know...

by Anonymousreply 45June 6, 2014 5:38 PM

Love Teller, but think Penn is one of those "I'm bigger than everyone around me, so no one can do anything about me being an ass" guys. Did Teller ever publicly come out?

by Anonymousreply 46January 28, 2016 9:32 PM

Teller is gay and has had a long term partner called Gene. They look really happy in this picture!

by Anonymousreply 47February 8, 2019 3:51 PM

I'm glad Teller appears more relaxed about it now he is older. They both look happy.

by Anonymousreply 48March 16, 2019 10:04 PM

His partner has been an extra on their show 'BS' a few times as well as in their films 'Get Killed' and 'Invisible Thread' and thanked in Teller stage shows in the notes.

He has also appeared as an extra in 'The Big Bang Theory' a couple episodes before Teller character came in.

by Anonymousreply 49March 16, 2019 10:12 PM

Thanks r47 for that instagram find. Finally some definitive proof that Teller is gay and partnered. I initially thought Teller might have been asexual (lol who is), him being gay is not a surprise.

Teller's partner looks cute and age-appropriate.

For decades Teller was DL "I look 15 years younger than I am". But he aged quickly in recent 3-5 years. He's 71 now in this Fallon video.

By all accounts a nice, intelligent and talkative guy. šŸ˜

by Anonymousreply 51August 18, 2019 3:17 PM

R49 hard to believe but awesome Teller has been with his partner since at least the late 80s. He is rich, famous, talented, smart etc.

Anyone who lines up to meet Teller after each Vegas show can see he is gay from space. He only "plays the straight man" while on stage.

Teller is in a glass closet that everyone respects not to pry open. But the real magic is how loudmouth Penn never once let slip about Teller's sexuality over 40 years.

by Anonymousreply 52August 22, 2019 1:41 AM

r32 is still rage drinking AT AA.

That "Bullshit" episode was pure bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 53August 22, 2019 1:54 AM

Penn voted for Hillary, and has been very outspoken about his disdain for all things Trump. He also lost a lot of weight on a diet that requires you to eat nothing but plain potatoes during the first stage. Sounds fun, huh?

by Anonymousreply 54August 22, 2019 2:06 AM

I guess he and Teller have a good thing going, but I wouldn't want my colleague/work partner to talk about me in such impersonal terms after so long. Some quotes.

[Quote] Interviewer: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that part of your success in your working relationship with Teller is that the two of you aren't super-close in your personal life.

"Not at all. Teller and I probably socialize maybe three times a year. Maybe three times a year we actually go out and have dinner and see a movie. There's a few reasons for that. Our relationship is very much based around the show rather than based around affections. Some people you love and just want to hug them when you see them. Teller and I work together because we do better work together. Guys like Lennon and McCartney really did have that love, and that can get in the way of the work. Teller and I are a lot like two guys running a dry cleaning business. It turns out that respect is more enduring than affection."

[Quote] I believe that the volatile groups Lennon and McCartney, Martin and Lewis, Gilbert and Sullivanā€¦ We donā€™t have teams nowadays, we have to go back in time, but um, Martin and Lewis, and specially Lennon and McCartney - those two groups.. were love affairs, those were two people who fell in love; Lennon and McCartney were certainly in love. And then when things start to not go right, love is heartbreaking.

Teller and I started without any natural affection at all. I didnā€™t have that, you know- that feeling you have you want to hug somebody somebody or want to be around them, or really feel affectionate toward them, which I feel toward a lot of people, I never felt toward Teller. Our relationship was essentially an e-mail relationship before e-mail. It was very, very sterile, very cold.ā€

[Quote] ā€œMy relationship with Teller has always been what would feel like an e-mail relationship,ā€ says Jillette. ā€œItā€™s entirely intellectual and is not in any way cuddly or friendly. That having been said, over 39 years, heā€™s clearly my best friend. And for any important thing that happens, like the birth of my children, the death of our parents, any sort of real problem, we go to each other.ā€

As an aside, the Martin and Lewis partnership was way before my time but this prompted me to look them up. The comedy was lame, but the chemistry was not! I won't touch Lennon and Mccartney as I remember the Beatles were bi threads.

by Anonymousreply 55August 22, 2019 2:45 AM

Penn is weirdly adamant in interviews that they hardly socialize, yet they eat dinner together after each show in their backstage green room (along with friends/invited guests).

Some of you Vegas bitches have probably hung out with P&T, because they seem to know everyone in Vegas.

by Anonymousreply 56August 24, 2019 1:21 AM

He's what every future eldergay dreams of becoming.

by Anonymousreply 58August 30, 2019 11:21 PM

I can't believe no one here has had Teller! Someone on reddit posted recently that poster's sister lives close to Teller. Hot men often seen entering his home, even though Teller has a long term partner.

by Anonymousreply 59November 3, 2019 12:56 AM

Penn Jillette is a MAJOR asshole, faux Libertarian know-it-all!

He is a nasty person which you can tell after observing him for awhile. I'm sure he's a huge Trump fan.

by Anonymousreply 60November 3, 2019 1:01 AM

I would love to see Teller's Las Vegas home. It has to be fabulous.

by Anonymousreply 63November 3, 2019 3:49 AM

Well r61, do you have a hot, tight body? This video of Teller's house is 20 years old.

I'm surprised they each only have 1 property (their Vegas house. No known homes in LA or anywhere else), given their individual net worth is an estimated $180mil (EACH!)
