BREAKING! Gloria Stuart, dead!
by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 7, 2021 5:36 AM |
She couldn't face living without Joan Crawford.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 27, 2010 4:55 PM |
She made it to 100.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 27, 2010 4:59 PM |
on her iPod - "in the Navy"
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 27, 2010 5:03 PM |
God bless her!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 27, 2010 5:04 PM |
She promised she'd never let go!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 27, 2010 5:05 PM |
Pity. She had so much more to live for.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 27, 2010 5:06 PM |
Who gives a shit?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 27, 2010 5:07 PM |
Who did she lose the Oscar to again? I remember being very upset when she lost. I was such a little faggot.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 27, 2010 5:08 PM |
Her heart will go on.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 27, 2010 5:08 PM |
She lost to Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential) when it should've been Joan Cusack (In & Out)
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 27, 2010 5:12 PM |
She would have been ideal to play Huguette Clark in the Lifetime movie.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 27, 2010 5:14 PM |
I'm going to watch THE OLD DARK HOUSE today in honor of her life!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 27, 2010 5:21 PM |
One of the last, if not the last, surviving actresses of 1930's Warner Brothers musical films.
She seemed like a cool lady, how great she was able to get a "second" career.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 27, 2010 5:22 PM |
Sorry R12. Kim all the way. She was fabulous in LA Confidential, a DVD I have re-watched at least 30 times.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 27, 2010 5:22 PM |
I didn't know she was still alive, but I'm saddened at hearing of her death. By the time one gets to 100 I'm sure the will to live forever may have seemed to be a fete acccompli.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 27, 2010 5:27 PM |
I loved Gaytanic.
In, out the pain makes me shout! I believe we need more lube. You slut, you live for my butt! And, my mouth is so open and wide!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 27, 2010 5:28 PM |
Hah!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 27, 2010 5:30 PM |
[quote]fete acccompli
Ah, mon dieu!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 27, 2010 5:35 PM |
"One of the last, if not the last, surviving actresses of 1930's Warner Brothers musical films."
But I was a bigger Warner"s 1930's star and I am STILL ALIVE DAMMIT!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 27, 2010 5:39 PM |
OMG! Titanic was on TV last night!
Do you suppose she watched it and croaked?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 27, 2010 5:40 PM |
Did she smoke?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 27, 2010 5:43 PM |
Before or after R23?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 27, 2010 5:46 PM |
[quote] Did she smoke?
Didn't everybody in Hollywood in the '30s and '40s?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 27, 2010 5:48 PM |
If I live to be 100, there will definitely be a fete accompli
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 27, 2010 5:53 PM |
Yes, and that damn smoking shortened her life.
Same as my dad. Smoked in the Pacific during WWII, then quit upon disharge.
Died prematurely at 89.
Tobacco kills every time. One ciggie or 1 million -- all the same.
P. S. NO ONE EVER GOT LUNG CANCER BEFORE CIGARETTES!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 27, 2010 5:54 PM |
If only she hadn't smoked she wouldn't have died so young. Let this be a lesson, smokers - if you don't quit you might only live to be 100.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 27, 2010 6:14 PM |
Has somebody broken the news to Glenn? They've known each other since they were children. I hope she'll be all right.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 27, 2010 6:16 PM |
I'm still the badest old bat on the block!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 27, 2010 6:23 PM |
I win!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 27, 2010 7:01 PM |
That hardly merits an exclamation mark.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 27, 2010 7:04 PM |
How did she die so quickly? She just had her 100th birthday party in June.
I guess when you're that old you can die of old age at any time?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 27, 2010 7:22 PM |
I assume she wasn't a heavy smoker if she lived to 100?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 27, 2010 7:23 PM |
The L.A. Times article said she had lung cancer. Was she a smoker?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 27, 2010 7:25 PM |
I'm going to fucking bawl when Joan and Olivia go. I'm not ready.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 27, 2010 7:28 PM |
If she didn't get lung cancer, she would have lived even longer.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 27, 2010 7:30 PM |
The L.A. Times reported that her last words were, "Please don't cancel "Ghost Whisperer""
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 27, 2010 7:35 PM |
She doesn't really rate a place in the galaxy of stars of Hollywood's Golden Age.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 27, 2010 8:12 PM |
She's fine! She sends her love!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 27, 2010 8:17 PM |
Has Shirley Temple commented?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 27, 2010 9:24 PM |
[quote]fete acccompli
"After the ball is over, After the break of morn – After the dancers' leaving; After the stars are gone; Many a heart is aching, If you could read them all; Many the hopes that have vanished After the ball."
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 27, 2010 9:38 PM |
This really makes you think. It's very troubling.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 27, 2010 9:57 PM |
So young. So young!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 27, 2010 10:12 PM |
I think it's great that she found stardom at such a late age.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 27, 2010 10:27 PM |
Even she commented about the fact that she had to deal with not being Greta Garbo.
I don't think she had a problem with not being on top. By any measure, she had a pretty great life. God bless the old dame!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 27, 2010 10:29 PM |
She was too young to go.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 27, 2010 10:32 PM |
A life tragically cut short.
r22, I thought the same thing.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 27, 2010 10:39 PM |
r43 your post is the only one that is strangely poignant. The ONLY one. Those lyrics I suppose.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 27, 2010 11:03 PM |
In the 30s Gloria was a stunningly beautiful woman. Luise Ranier was an ogre compared to her.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 27, 2010 11:48 PM |
Damnit. Who will change my diaper now?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 27, 2010 11:57 PM |
I made it to almost 102, so fuckyas all!
AND while smothered in diamonds, feet up, knocking back Johnnie Walker, having a flutter on the gee-gees in front of the telly, with hot and cold running staff, and an overdraft that would choke your little whining purse-filled mouths.
THAT'S how to do it properly.
Jealous, peasant bitches?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 28, 2010 1:39 AM |
Her daughter is about 75 years old. I wonder if she's still alive.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 28, 2010 2:28 AM |
I will never forgive her for playing the role in TITANIC that should have gone to Olivia DeHavilland. It would have been the perfect bookend to GWTW for her, each the mammoth blockbuster of its time. Instead, James Cameron foisted this wooden, amateurish 1930s B-movie nobody on us as if she were some silver screen goddess just waiting for her film comeback. It was sheer ludicrousness.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 28, 2010 2:30 AM |
What will happen to all the dust mites on her pussy?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 28, 2010 2:32 AM |
Will she be buried at sea?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 28, 2010 2:36 AM |
My, R57, but that's a lovely matching caftan and turban ensemble you're wearing! Have another Cosmo, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 28, 2010 3:28 AM |
R57 is right that Stuart was never a great actress in her heyday, but neither were many of the other B-level stars of the day. Stuart was hired for her Old Hollywood cred and, in "Titanic", she did admirably.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 28, 2010 5:13 AM |
Was she pleasuring herself at the time?
When she wrote her memoirs after TITANIC came out - and she was close to 90 - she wrote a whole long chapter about the joys of masturbation at her age - and any age.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 28, 2010 5:28 AM |
Was she not one of the original founders of SAG? That alone she should be honored for.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 28, 2010 5:51 AM |
"I will never forgive her for playing the role in TITANIC that should have gone to Olivia DeHavilland."
Why is that Stuart's fault? And how do we know Olivia even wanted it?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | September 28, 2010 5:59 AM |
Hollywood's Last Flapper Goes Down the Crapper.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | September 28, 2010 6:30 AM |
Did someone call Mary Kate Olsen?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 28, 2010 11:34 AM |
In the 30s Gloria was a stunningly beautiful woman. Luise Ranier was an ogre compared to her.
An ogre with TWO Academy Awards!
But I'm sure Gloria's Academy nomination certificate kept her warm at night.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | September 28, 2010 12:59 PM |
I still can't believe she lost the Oscar to Kim Basinger!
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 19, 2015 5:16 PM |
Kim Bass in jer was very good in Confidential.
Stuart was sweet and effective in Titanic. But she didn't deserve an award for her performance.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 19, 2015 5:27 PM |
I read her autobiography some time back. She was a fascinating woman—a true bohemian, and a true artist. She was also very dedicated to political causes, and helped co-found SAG and was part of the Anti-Nazi League in the '30s. Her life was something for the storybooks.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | July 9, 2019 9:18 AM |
Did she od?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | July 9, 2019 9:22 AM |
How the heck was a thread from 2010 still open?
by Anonymous | reply 72 | July 9, 2019 9:25 AM |
So insulting to be ashes to play 101 when you're only 87
by Anonymous | reply 73 | July 9, 2019 9:32 AM |
[quote] and helped co-found SAG
Ahh, so that's why she was nominated for Titanic.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 9, 2019 9:58 AM |
Block of wood
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 11, 2021 5:30 AM |
R75 That film required a old woman who WASN'T a termagant.
If Kate Hepburn played the role there'd be a thousand waspy memes on how young big Kate turned into old quivering Kate.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 11, 2021 5:34 AM |
Why is this shit being dredged back up?

by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 11, 2021 6:06 AM |
R70 is correct about her.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 11, 2021 6:23 AM |
RIP.
I didn't know she died.
Just kidding.
I forgot.
And, then I wasn't sure.
RIP.
