Anthony Clark from "Yes, Dear"

Why didn't he ever come out?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 88April 3, 2019 2:45 AM

If he had come out, it would have ended his prolific TV and movie career.

by Anonymousreply 1June 23, 2010 3:54 AM

Don't forget all the commercial sponsorships, R1.

by Anonymousreply 2June 23, 2010 4:27 AM

And he wouldn't even be able to get booked at The Chuckle Hut in Bumfuck, Iowa.

by Anonymousreply 3June 23, 2010 4:34 AM

Rosie accidentally outed him on her radio show a few months ago. They were talking about Mike O'Malley from Glee and trying to recall the sitcom he was on, then tried to recall Anthony's name because he was on the same sitcom. "You know, he was a stand-up, the gay guy from the other show about Boston... you know, the gay guy!"

Once they named Anthony, someone piped up that he wasn't out, so they spit out some "allegedly"s. Whoops.

by Anonymousreply 4June 23, 2010 5:35 AM

It's funny that Rosie couldn't remember his name because I remember her interviewing him on her 90's/early 00's show.

Anyway, how can this queen not be out? It was always VERY obvious in both interviews and on his shitty sitcom that he's gay.

by Anonymousreply 5March 31, 2013 6:40 PM

Come out? Yech, put him in and nail the door shut.

by Anonymousreply 6March 31, 2013 6:42 PM

I will always dislike him for playing one of the ugliest stereotypical sissy-fags in movie history in "The Rock" (1996).

by Anonymousreply 7March 31, 2013 6:47 PM

IMDB says he's only had 3 roles since that shitty sitcom went off the air in 2006.

by Anonymousreply 8March 31, 2013 6:50 PM

He's legendary for being one of the meanest drunks in entertainment, and when I met him about ten years ago I found that reputation was well earned.

by Anonymousreply 9March 31, 2013 6:50 PM

he's not sexy so he doesn't have to come out; nobody is fantasizing about him they would say Hugh Jackman or Chris Potter or whoever else is masculine and hunky.

by Anonymousreply 10March 31, 2013 6:52 PM

The title of his recent Showtime special hints at this topic. Did anyone see it?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 11March 31, 2013 6:53 PM

I didn't know he's gay. But then again, I rarely watch regular network television, so I've barely heard of him.

by Anonymousreply 12March 31, 2013 6:55 PM

I remember a dozen or more years ago, a National Enquirer story outed him, and at the same time, said he was living like a hoarder.

by Anonymousreply 13March 31, 2013 6:56 PM

I read it on Datalounge years ago that during Yes, Dear he was moping around, because his military boyfriend was shipped off to Afghanistan or some other military operation that took place at that time.

by Anonymousreply 14March 31, 2013 6:56 PM

R12, you're only slightly less tedious than someone who "doesn't even own a TV."

by Anonymousreply 15March 31, 2013 7:16 PM

R9 Tell us more. Is that why he doesn't get much work now?

by Anonymousreply 16March 31, 2013 7:28 PM

I always thought he was cute. But then again I like tall and nerdy.

by Anonymousreply 17March 31, 2013 7:30 PM

So no one's had sex with this guy?

by Anonymousreply 18April 1, 2013 3:07 AM

He's not gay, just deal.

by Anonymousreply 19April 1, 2013 3:13 AM

He has a really big schlong.

by Anonymousreply 20April 1, 2013 3:18 AM

Lol r15.

by Anonymousreply 21April 1, 2013 3:23 AM

Wasnt there a blind item on here over a decade ago about him lashing out at a co star on his show for outing him in front of her friends

by Anonymousreply 22April 1, 2013 3:23 AM

Yes R22, and reportedly he used a racial slur.

by Anonymousreply 23April 1, 2013 3:28 AM

r23: If it was Boston Common, then the actress may be Tasha Smith

by Anonymousreply 24April 1, 2013 3:36 AM

It was before Yes, Dear if I remember correctly, which would mean Boston Common. And I do believe it was an actress and not an actor that he hurled the N-word at.

by Anonymousreply 25April 1, 2013 3:44 AM

I eat shit. Just deal.

by Anonymousreply 26April 1, 2013 3:45 AM

R25 Wow, he sounds like a nasty piece of work. No wonder he fell off the radar.

by Anonymousreply 27April 1, 2013 3:46 AM

I also remember reading a BI about a sitcom actor claiming that if his series ever hit #1 in the ratings (or just the top 10, I'm fuzzy on that detail), he'd come out of the closet. This was during the early years of Yes, Dear; it never made it into the top 10.

by Anonymousreply 28April 1, 2013 3:56 AM

That's why he's not currently a star.

by Anonymousreply 29April 1, 2013 3:57 AM

what?

by Anonymousreply 30March 17, 2015 10:08 PM

I think I caught an episode of that show once and I didn't laugh at all. It was stupid and if he was the husband he seemed wimpy.

by Anonymousreply 31March 17, 2015 10:43 PM

What moved the black lady to out him?

by Anonymousreply 32March 17, 2015 11:54 PM

[quote]if he was the husband he seemed wimpy

In a show called "Yes, Dear" -- go figure!

by Anonymousreply 33March 17, 2015 11:59 PM

I saw him doing his stand up on tv very early in his career and he was hysterical. He pinged then, too.

by Anonymousreply 34March 18, 2015 12:52 AM

I saw him live at Caroline's in NYC back during the time he was doing Yes Dear. I never laughed so hard in my life. I was also lucky enough to have Jim Gaffigan on the bill too. Both absolutely hysterical.

Anthony Clark cruised me at the bar/lounge at Caroline's after the show----really heavily. But I was there with cousins that night and couldn't break away for a quickie. : - (

by Anonymousreply 35March 18, 2015 1:00 AM

I thought he was the guy behind the blind item about a comedy lead bringing a "date" to the set who was an underage boy.

by Anonymousreply 36March 18, 2015 1:05 AM

I thought it was Grant Shaud, R36.

by Anonymousreply 37March 18, 2015 1:07 AM

I could have participated in his gangbang.

by Anonymousreply 38March 18, 2015 1:32 AM

It was Grant Shaud. You're right.

by Anonymousreply 39March 18, 2015 3:06 AM

I always wondered why he didn't come out. Did he die? I never see him anymore.

by Anonymousreply 40March 18, 2015 3:35 AM

He's the asshole in the movie theater in "Dogfight", the River Phoenix/Lily Taylor movie right?

by Anonymousreply 41March 18, 2015 3:49 AM

I always thought he was out. He said something along the lines of why he didnt win Last Comic Standing was because he was too gay. He was being cheeky of course.

by Anonymousreply 42March 18, 2015 3:56 AM

What is this about Grant Shaud and the underage boyfriend? I never knew he was gay. Didn't he used to date Jane Leeves?

by Anonymousreply 43March 18, 2015 3:57 AM

I met him in a gay bar in WeHo years ago. After hours, tweaker bar. He kept insisting he wasn't Anthony Clark and he wasn't on Boston Common. (Yeah, that's how long ago it was.)

by Anonymousreply 44March 18, 2015 3:59 AM

I thought he was adorkable as the dim-witted cowboy in Ellen's '90s sitcom. He guest-starred in four separated episodes during Season 3 as a member of Ellen's book club.

by Anonymousreply 45March 18, 2015 4:00 AM

R43 Think Leeves dated Jonathan Prince, also tiny. They worked on.."Throb?"

by Anonymousreply 46March 18, 2015 4:13 AM

Prince and Leeves

by Anonymousreply 47March 18, 2015 4:19 AM

"Boston Common" was fucking hilarious. Didn't last long though.

And anyone who couldn't tell he was gay from seeing THAT sit-com was blind and deaf.

by Anonymousreply 48March 18, 2015 4:21 AM

The Landsdowne Street dancing on the roof in Boston Common.

I remember they cancelled it out of the blue, and the series ended with a cliffhanger (about the black lady actress' character getting fired.)

by Anonymousreply 49March 18, 2015 4:27 AM

R20 is VERY wrong. He sucked me off in the steam at Equinox and his cock was hard as a rock, not large.

I came in his mouth.

by Anonymousreply 50March 18, 2015 1:27 PM

He was in that terribly awful Peter Paige movie, "Say Uncle", and played Paige's gay best friend. I think there was a kiss in there as well.

"Say Uncle" is a great "hate watching" movie.

by Anonymousreply 51March 18, 2015 2:20 PM

my friend went to high school with him. said he was horrible even back then. nasty piece of work.

by Anonymousreply 52March 18, 2015 2:37 PM

Notorious pussyhound and a big Bush supporter.

by Anonymousreply 53March 18, 2015 2:47 PM

He sounds like Aaron Rodgers which is kind of hot

by Anonymousreply 54March 18, 2015 2:50 PM

He sucked me off in Nashville back when I was a teenager (he was filming Dogfight). I just wanted to meet River Phoenix.

by Anonymousreply 55March 18, 2015 3:24 PM

I loved Boston Common back in the day. I was a kid and to me he pinged. I thought he was hilarious. Thought he'd do more.

These rumors are all over the place. He's huge, not huge, a huge asshole, a cum guzzler, a pussy bound. Any truth to being outed at work and losing his temper? If that happened in 2016... watch out!

by Anonymousreply 56November 18, 2016 4:10 AM

I always thouhe was cute.

by Anonymousreply 57November 18, 2016 4:26 AM

He looks like a young Rock Hudson. I know a bunch of you are about to attack me, but he does just more goofy looking.

by Anonymousreply 58November 18, 2016 4:39 AM

He dated a guy in the gay and lesbian student association at my college way back in 1991. Guy's name was Mark. That's all I can remember 25 years later. The group wanted him to do a fundraiser comedy show on campus. It never happened and I got bored with the gay and lesbian student association and just started going to bars and never saw him or his boyfriend again.

by Anonymousreply 59November 18, 2016 4:57 AM

WHET this guy?

Never came out, HORRIBLE stories about him, complete career stall. I really liked Boston Common, and when I just looked it up, I noticed it's actually from the Will & Grace creators. When "Zandra" (Eileen Brennan) started on W&G, it reminded me of how Boston Common had used Margot Kidder, which I think was very quickly after her breakdown. I do not know why I remember any of this.

I was also reminded how much I fucking hate Traylor Howard. What kind of network-tv-milquetoast-lab cooked her up? And she got so many chances! She was the poor man's Tea Leoni, who herself was the poor man's Annette Bening, who was the poor man's Jill Clayburgh. Just a thought.

by Anonymousreply 60April 2, 2019 12:40 AM

I never watched any of the shows he was on but saw him on some talk show way back when and thought he had an “aw, shucks” humble Southern demeanor. Surprised at the nasty piece of work stories. He looked kind of like me and I thought he was tall like me but apparently only 5 foot 9. Anyway, no credits at all since 2012 and a drought from 2006 until then before that. He turns 55 this week. Retired to Palm Springs?

by Anonymousreply 61April 2, 2019 12:58 AM

It was told to me that Anthony Clark is a first cousin to the original Jerry Falwell.

Fundy high profile Baptist family and he is the requisite closet case.

He'd rather kill his career than come out as gay.

Fuck her.

by Anonymousreply 62April 2, 2019 1:33 AM

Even though they look nothing alike, I always confuse him with the "Ed" show guy. Don't know why. Maybe the shows were around the same time and he's another rumored closet case?

by Anonymousreply 63April 2, 2019 1:39 AM

R60 Traylor Howard did get a lot of chances. It seems like she did one more pilot after Monk and just retired to be a mom, thank god.

by Anonymousreply 64April 2, 2019 4:18 AM

Did Anthony Clark ever try to put a move on his BC co-star Vincent Ventresca?

by Anonymousreply 65April 2, 2019 4:32 AM

[quote] I always thought he was cute. But then again I like tall and nerdy.

he's only 5'9", according to imdb

by Anonymousreply 66April 2, 2019 4:37 AM

A friend of mine from LA told me he was a friend of his ex-boyfriend, and verified he was a nasty mean drunk, given to shouting obscenities and slurs on the street when he had been drinking..

by Anonymousreply 67April 2, 2019 4:38 AM

R62 According to this article, his uncle by marriage was the co-pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church with Falwell, he lived with them to attend a better high school. He does say, however, that his entire family is very religious.

Played a really bad 'mo stereotype in "The Rock." But then, It's Michael Bay and he's a shithead.

by Anonymousreply 69April 2, 2019 4:43 AM

Thank G-d R60 rebooted this thread nearly 4 years later.

by Anonymousreply 70April 2, 2019 4:54 AM

Seems a little long in the tooth to be working the frat-douche look.

by Anonymousreply 71April 2, 2019 5:14 AM

Why have you posted a pic of Margo Martindale, r71?

by Anonymousreply 72April 2, 2019 8:26 AM

R71 wow, that was painful to watch - only made it through about 1 minute - bless his heart.

by Anonymousreply 73April 2, 2019 8:49 AM

OP, how can we ever thank you appropriately for instigating this thread?

by Anonymousreply 74April 2, 2019 9:19 AM

Or R60 for exhuming it...

by Anonymousreply 75April 2, 2019 9:22 AM

R60 Margot Kidder was fucking hilarious in that guest spot. It was after her recovery from the breakdown and her first big reappearance. She did her part from a motorized wheelchair and the writers had her terrorizing the other characters with it.

And yes--Zandra was a lot like her. Lots.

by Anonymousreply 76April 2, 2019 9:48 AM

Yeah, she was such a kidder...

by Anonymousreply 77April 2, 2019 10:00 AM

Traylor Howard, Jenna Elfman, Tea Leoni, Christina Applegate, Portia Di Rossi, Holland Taylor, and the girl from Duet, all have about 30 shows amongst them, but only about one hit per actress.

by Anonymousreply 78April 2, 2019 10:06 AM

[quote] Anthony Clark cruised me at the bar/lounge at Caroline's after the show----really heavily. But I was there with cousins that night and couldn't break away for a quickie.

No, he didn't. Liar.

by Anonymousreply 79April 2, 2019 10:49 AM

I think Clark's accent has been a major factor in his lack of work. He sounds rather hicky and he doesn't seem to want to get rid of the drawl so that, and his lack of range, limits him immensely in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 80April 2, 2019 10:56 AM

But he was cute back in the day. This is from 1995.

by Anonymousreply 81April 2, 2019 10:58 AM

By 2010 he was looking conspicuously like KD Lang.

by Anonymousreply 82April 2, 2019 11:02 AM

Looks as tho he’s making money flipping houses.

by Anonymousreply 83April 2, 2019 11:08 AM

Not a single credit since 2012. Oh well, if his net worth assessment of $17 million is anywhere close to being real he'll want for nothing from now on.

by Anonymousreply 84April 2, 2019 11:08 AM

[quote] He does say, however, that his entire family is very religious.

Well that explains why he turned into a nasty drunk. I've never met a preacher's kid that didn't turn out a human wreck.

by Anonymousreply 85April 2, 2019 11:30 AM

R85 - tell me about it.

by Anonymousreply 86April 2, 2019 11:43 AM

He probably auditioned for a bunch of Country & Western-type TV shows, like being Reba McIntire's husband or something. But they thought he was too fey.

by Anonymousreply 87April 2, 2019 1:25 PM

I liked that he had a Miata in Yes Dear.
