She was estranged from her parents and siblings for several years. Her parents still remain Mormon and one of her siblings left the church for other reasons. There are some Mormons who are supportive of gay rights and marriage equality, but the anti-gay Mormons still wield a lot of power.

David probably does hate his father for some of his non-success. David was on the short lived Star Search reboot in 2003 or 2004. Daddy Archuleta was a huge pain in the ass and made enemies with some people in the industry. David's album was heavily promoted and he did have a strong fanbase of tween girls.
