Former kept boys and male prostitutes

Rupert Everett, of course, has freely admitted prostituting when he was younger. We know Steven Antin (of THE GOONIES) used to be Joey Stefano's keptboy, and that Ted casblanca was Bruce Vilanch's when he was young. There are many rumors Robert Gant from QAF used to be a WeHo kept boy before he made it (sort of) big as an actor.

by Anonymousreply 352Yesterday at 12:42 PM

Jean Genet was a prostitute, and wrote about it.

by Anonymousreply 104/13/2010

Interesting Wikipedia about Steven Antin. I never knew any of that. I'm kind of looking forward to Burlesque (which he's directing). Why do you think he was a kept boy? It says he dated David Geffen for a year (and introduced him to Mom). Was that the "kept" situation or where there others?

by Anonymousreply 204/13/2010

Oh sorry OP. I misread about Joey Stefano. Interesting story.

by Anonymousreply 304/13/2010

You're right, r2: Antin was only attracted to David Geffen because David was such a hunky dreamboat and because the two of them had so much in common

by Anonymousreply 404/13/2010

Al Pacino Aaron Carter, but I dont think he's a former yet.

by Anonymousreply 504/13/2010
We know Steven Antin (of THE GOONIES) used to be Joey Stefano's keptboy

Are you sure you don't want to revise that sentence?

by Anonymousreply 604/13/2010

Fascinating interview with Joey Stefano. Was he the most gorgeous porn star ever?? He had such an innocent quality about him, and not some egomaniacal and arrogant personality that one might expect from such a beautiful guy. Seriously, what a waste. I could do without the creepy narrator, though.

by Anonymousreply 704/13/2010

J. Depp was N. Cage's "delivery boy"

Didn't B. Willis also have a blue collar home visit job?

by Anonymousreply 804/13/2010

Sorry: I meant David Geffen's keptboy, not Joey Stefano's. (genuinely hangs head in shame)

by Anonymousreply 904/13/2010

I wish I was pretty enough to be kept. I'm really over this whole 'work' thing.

by Anonymousreply 1104/13/2010

I was never cute enough to be kept, but now I have money so I keep one of my own. No games, no false pretense, it just is what it is.

by Anonymousreply 1304/13/2010

Clint Eastwood was the kept boy of director Arthur Lubin Lee Majors was Rock Hudson's kept boy

by Anonymousreply 1504/13/2010
There are many rumors Robert Gant from QAF used to be a WeHo kept boy before he made it (sort of) big as an actor.

Gant was an attorney before switching to acting.

by Anonymousreply 1604/13/2010

Joey Stefano was kept by William Ivey Long.

Robert Mitchum certainly hustled - he fucked Clifton Webb for a time.

Alain Delon was kept by Visconti.

by Anonymousreply 1704/13/2010

r16, he didn't make it big instantly after leaving the law. It took him a while to get good work. In that period, he (supposedly) was kept by a rich boyfriend. Or so rumor has had it on DL.

by Anonymousreply 1904/13/2010

Johnny Depp and Nick Cage? Never heard that one before. Nick is 1 yr older than Johnny, isn't the kept 'boy' significantly younger than their trick?

by Anonymousreply 2004/13/2010

Really, you can't just throw out the name "Al Pacino" and leave us hanging!

by Anonymousreply 2104/13/2010

Al Pacino admit he was a male prostitute in Sicily when he was a starving actor there in his 20s... BUT (and this is the highly unlikely part) he wants us to believe his only clients were older women.

by Anonymousreply 2204/13/2010

Wasn't Matt Nye kept by Jann Wenner until they decided Matt could be a fashion designer?

by Anonymousreply 2304/14/2010

R22, it wasn't only women. Pacino probably should have kept his mouth shut.

by Anonymousreply 2404/15/2010

Robert Gant has a J.D. from Georgetown University, arguably one of the best, and certainly one of the most exclusive law schools in the world. He began his legal career at Clifford Chance, an international law firm of staggering proportions.

I am certain his starting salary was at least 200K 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 2504/15/2010

I was a kept boy in my late 20's, early 30's. At first, it seemed very flattering that someone would find me attractive enough to just pay for everything and take me to many, many wonderful places. He was/is in the design field in Paris and had really exquisite taste and liked beautiful things. Then I realized that I was just another exotic possession for him. He made all the decisions and everything revolved around his schedule.

I really loved him, still do, but I feel liberated in living my own life and going my own way.

by Anonymousreply 2604/15/2010

Hey when I was younger and cuter and someone older and not too bad looking wanted to buy me shiny things just to suck my cock, who am I to say no! Why give away what cha can sell!!!

by Anonymousreply 2704/15/2010

Who did Diller keep?

by Anonymousreply 2804/15/2010

I find it hard to believe that Joey Stefano ever had enough money to keep himself, much less anyone else. The boy was a drug fiend and he was certainly not wealthy by any imagination. What money he had went to the dope dealers.

by Anonymousreply 2904/15/2010

William Ivey Long did not keep Joey Stefano. In fact the only way he could afford Joey Stefano at the time was if a friend or friends paid for it. William put what money he had into real estate, not hustlers. He did have a thing for Joey Stefano and yes JS was gifted to William on a few occasions. What ever you can say about WIL, he is not dumb with money.

by Anonymousreply 3004/15/2010

Exactly, R29. And I don't ever remember him seeming at all innocent. Trashy bottom, more like it, but innocent? No.

by Anonymousreply 3104/15/2010

Thanks for that, Jude. What an earth shattering revelation.

by Anonymousreply 3204/15/2010

Google Clifford Chance please, R33, they dwarf Jones, Day.

by Anonymousreply 3404/15/2010

Did I say otherwise, R34? That doesn't mean they pay more. The top-tier firms pay starting associates the same amounts, and if any of them raises the rates, every other top-tier firm follows in lockstep.

by Anonymousreply 3504/15/2010

Oh, well, if Georgetown is ONLY currently ranked 14th, then its law school grads must NOT make anywhere near what the TOP schools' grads make.

I've never even been anywhere near Georgetown and I still think R33 is a pompous ass who doesn't know shit and has to have the last word about everything, even to the point of making stuff up.

by Anonymousreply 3704/15/2010

Lawyers consider Georgetown one of the best, and if you want to be a professor at any decent law school it's a good bet you will lose if your LLM is from someone else and your competition's is.

by Anonymousreply 3804/15/2010

Clifford Chance isn't a top tier US law firm. Google it again. It's number 2 or 3 in the world.

by Anonymousreply 3904/15/2010
Oh, well, if Georgetown is ONLY currently ranked 14th, then its law school grads must NOT make anywhere near what the TOP schools' grads make.

Sigh. First-year associate salaries are a matter of public record. Harvard & Yale are currently around $180K. Georgetown is around $160K. Google it if you don't believe me. I happen to know all this because my mother is an attorney and managing partner at her firm, and every year brings a new round of complaints about how they'll have to raise salaries yet again to bring in top talent.

R36, it's my understanding that Diller avoids dating or even one-time fucking actors or anyone under his employ out of fear of a lawsuit, either for sexual harassment or "palimony." Ditto David Geffen and the rest of the Velvet Mafia.

by Anonymousreply 4004/15/2010

r36, you mean Diller is friends with his own current BF or Hugh's BF (who is obviously friends with the velvet mafia)?

by Anonymousreply 4104/16/2010

r39, Georgetown ranks 14 of the top 14 every year. No big deal. I even go to a better school.

Clifford Chance is originally a British firm, but has a big presence internationally. Jones day is based in Ohio and has also grown internationally in recent years. I think the two are about equal in reputation, but well below the ranks of Cravath, Wachtell or Sullivan & Cromwell.

by Anonymousreply 4204/16/2010

That was Nicholas Ray, R18.

by Anonymousreply 4304/16/2010

Wasn't Steven Antin the hot, hetero jock in "The Last American Virgin"?

by Anonymousreply 4404/16/2010

The oft quoted example is Alexis, the Baron de Rede, who was working in an antique shop in L.A. when Arturo Lopez-Wilshaw gave him the enticement of a million dollars to join him in Europe. And that was in 1946 when a million truly was a king's ransom.

by Anonymousreply 4504/16/2010

Anyone read Charles Isherwood's Stefano bio?

by Anonymousreply 4704/16/2010

John Derek was kept by Spencer Tracy.

by Anonymousreply 4804/16/2010

Harold Acton's memoir of Nancy Mitford quotes an amusing letter of hers about some Parisan screamer who had unbuttoned his shirt at a society dinner party in the '50s to expose a ruby tassel running down his back with the words: "not bad for a working girl".

A Room In Chelsea Square, a roman a clef by Michael Nelson about his experience of being kept by Peter Watson, the arts philanthropist, is every entertaining. Watson could be Machiavellian, and it has some great moments.

by Anonymousreply 5004/16/2010

R25 - Just accept you're wrong about Gant's salary, R33 is absolutely correct. Starting salaries among the top 20 firms aren't vastly different.

And Georgetown Law is well respected, but it's not bow-worthy.

And I thought that Gant was an attorney in LA - there is no Clifford Chance office in LA. I thought he worked for a 2nd tier firm.

by Anonymousreply 5204/16/2010

whoa!! what a thread.

by Anonymousreply 5304/16/2010

R49 "Wonder bread and Extacy" that was the title of the bio

by Anonymousreply 5404/16/2010

R25 - starting salaries TODAY at major law firms is around $160K and certainly wasn't $200K 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 5504/16/2010

Oh, shut up about law firms and lawyer's salaries. No one cares but you two idiots.

We want to know about kept boys.

by Anonymousreply 5704/16/2010

Christopher Atkins was a "trick du jour" until his beauty faded and Travolta's career was on the skids until he dated a well connected attorney. He got appearances on award shows, when he had done nothing for years, and out of the blue, landed Grease.

by Anonymousreply 5804/17/2010

"He got appearances on award shows, when he had done nothing for years, and out of the blue, landed Grease." Uh, Saturday Night Fever came out a year before Grease did so he hadn't been doing nothing for years

by Anonymousreply 5904/17/2010

Wasn't Travolta on a TV show not long before Saturday Night Fever?

by Anonymousreply 6004/17/2010

And he was the star of the incredibly popular Welcome Back Kotter in the 1970's, which was his stepping stone to Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 6104/17/2010

R56, he apparently fucked Barry Diller and other Hollywood execs as well before Hugh came along.

by Anonymousreply 6204/22/2010

Who else fucked Barry Diller?

by Anonymousreply 6304/22/2010

I'm sure plenty.

by Anonymousreply 6504/22/2010

r43, Nicholas Ray was fucking Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo. I can't imagine he had time to keep James Dean.

by Anonymousreply 6604/22/2010

Ray fucked underage boys, but when his own underage son got fucked (by Gloria Grahame, Ray's wife at the time), he was livid.

I have a headache trying to keep all these fuckings straight.

by Anonymousreply 6704/22/2010

Associates do not get paid according to what law school they graduated from. The law firms are run pretty much like monopolies. They almost all have the same salary steps within the same city or within the same region. Obviously top law school grads get into the top tier law firms but a first year associate is a first year associate.

Go visit abovethelaw web site and you'll see how petty and stingy BIG LAW can be.

No firm starts their first year associates at $200,000 today (probably not even if you include bonuses) let alone 20 years ago. Twenty years ago maybe $60,000 - $75,000 in the big cities but memory dims. The big law firms can be very creative with fabulous perks however. They may hire you as a higher year associate (e.g., third year) and that would put you higher on the salary/bonus scale.

Do not envy these young graduates. They earn every penny they make while working hellish hours. Of course, I'm not sure there's all that much work nowadays.

by Anonymousreply 6804/23/2010
I have a headache trying to keep all these fuckings straight.

Welcome to my world.

by Anonymousreply 6904/23/2010

by Anonymousreply 7004/23/2010
I met one of Diller's kept men once, and learned details about him via a mutual friend. He was stunningly attractive: Aryan god-like (tall, blond, very muscular), and also extremely sophisticated in areas such as fashion and fine dining. I don't know the exact details of their arrangement, but Diller provided him with a stunning condo and mainly only required his company on holidays. (Obviously Diller does not squire his kept men to events, since he has his, ahem, wife for that purpose.) Diller also didn't mind that he had a full-time, much younger (I think 19 or 20) boyfriend on the side, but Diller made it clear that his own needs took priority. When Diller ended things, he let the guy keep the condo as a parting gift, and also set him up with a senior-level job at one of his companies
Interesting story. About 10 years ago, I was at a private gay party in Santa Fe. There was a beautiful tall blonde guy flirting with me (I didn't go for it, sorry that I didn't), but at the same time, Barry Diller (he's very short, btw) was checking me out. I didn't go for Barry either, because I left early, wonder if this is the blonde guy that Barry hooked-up with?

by Anonymousreply 7304/23/2010

Is Diller generous? If you fuck him does he reward you?

by Anonymousreply 7404/23/2010

Yes, r74.

by Anonymousreply 7504/23/2010

Travolta got his start on "Welcome Back, Cotter".

by Anonymousreply 7604/23/2010

this whole thread was originated by that crazy Anti-Gant troll.

by Anonymousreply 8204/24/2010

John Palermo owns this thread.

'Harold Acton's memoir of Nancy Mitford quotes an amusing letter of hers about some Parisan screamer who had unbuttoned his shirt at a society dinner party in the '50s to expose a ruby tassel running down his back with the words: "not bad for a working girl".'

I'm trying to envision this. Was it a tattoo or a real tassel, and if the latter was it really made of rubies? Why a tassel? Did he say the words "not bad for a working girl" or was that part of the tattoo? And why was it on his back?

by Anonymousreply 9105/27/2010

R83 = straight frau

by Anonymousreply 9205/27/2010

I prefer the law scholl discussion to the more obvious and recurrent thread hijacking of whether Jake Gyllenalwhatever is gay.

But please, more about Christopher Watkins!

by Anonymousreply 9305/27/2010

Please more about the salaries of first year associates. I'm fascinated. Any eligibles in Mass or D.C.?

We know all there is to know about kept boys and male prostitutes. After all, darling, we are all whores.

by Anonymousreply 9405/31/2010

by Anonymousreply 9505/31/2010

Ryan P. was a kept boy.

by Anonymousreply 9606/03/2010

Who is Ryan P., r96?

by Anonymousreply 9706/03/2010

I'd just like to say how laughable it is that once again Josh Kilmer-Purcell starts a thread hawking his book, he gets vilified, then obviously defends himself under various guises, then - yet again- the webmaster closes the thread immediately after he/she/it/josh gets a huffy defensive last word.

Obviously someone at Mediopolis knew Josh when he was a whore.

I know, wrong thread, but the cunt that runs this site closed that thread.

by Anonymousreply 9906/08/2010

Barry Diller is hot. I would fuck him just for the fun of it.

A very sexy man.

Ryan Seacrest was Merv Griffin's protege, but that's not like being a prostitute or anything.

by Anonymousreply 10306/08/2010

Teddy C used to be Bruce Vilanch's kept boy? That's pretty desperate.

by Anonymousreply 10406/08/2010

"Ryan Seacrest was Merv Griffin's protege, but that's not like being a prostitute or anything."

I assure you it isn't. It's worse.

"Al Pacino admit he was a male prostitute in Sicily when he was a starving actor there in his 20s... BUT (and this is the highly unlikely part) he wants us to believe his only clients were older women."

Highly unlikely?

Straight gigolos abound in areas of Europe where wealthy older women live and vacation, such as Sicily.

by Anonymousreply 11506/10/2010

James Lipton has all but admitted he was a young prostitute.

by Anonymousreply 11606/10/2010

Read between the lines in Anne Heche's autobiography. She intimates that Richard Burgi was putting out for Doug Marland and other powerful men in the soap opera world in order to get work as an actor while they were living together and engaged. I believe it although the woman is batshit crazy!

by Anonymousreply 11706/10/2010

"James Lipton has all but admitted he was a young prostitute."

Some things never change, they just get older.

by Anonymousreply 11806/10/2010

Stephen Dorff used to swing shopping bags around Athens, GA that had been stuffed to the brim with money from MICHAEL STIPE!

by Anonymousreply 12006/10/2010

For 109:

I was in Paris for Christmas vacation after spending a year abroad in Rome. We met at the IDM Baths of all places. We had a great time there and then continued on to his apartment. The next day I checked out of my hotel and spent the rest of my time with him. When my departure day arrived, he actually cried and asked me to stay -- which I did for the next three years.

He was very smart and well-connected in the Paris design world. We went out constantly and I was really just there for him to show off -- most of his friends didn't really talk to me. So, it was exciting to go to all of these nice restaurants and parties, but kind of lonely too.

He changed my outlook on life, my aesthetic, and when I got out on my own and started an art gallery and bought my own home, so much of their concept and collection were an extension of what I learned from him.

So yeah, I was with him because I had a beautiful face and body, with a nice big dick, but I got lots of things – other than money – in return too.

by Anonymousreply 12106/10/2010

Tony Danza, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel. Those I know for sure.

by Anonymousreply 12206/10/2010

Which other actors are bisexual or gay and formerly kept or male prostitutes?

by Anonymousreply 13106/03/2011

Why would Nicholas Cage ever be a prostitute? He is the son of one of the most wealthy and powerful producer/directors in Hollywood. Were the Rockefeller sons prostitutes too?

by Anonymousreply 13206/03/2011

r132, not that it might be the case with Nicolas Cage, but some guys from wealthy and powerful families escort just to spite their high class families or are at one point cut off from the lavish lifestyle they are used to and strapped for cash while not used to a moderate lifestyle.

by Anonymousreply 13306/03/2011

Nic Cage was also fucking ugly until he had plastic surgery after his first few years in show business. No one is going to pay for ugly.

by Anonymousreply 13406/03/2011

Behind closed doors and with a great deal of protection by men in power. But otherwise there's hunting season all year for gays and hustlers.

by Anonymousreply 13806/03/2011

How could Ted Casablanca be kept by Bruce Vilanch, when they are both the same age?

by Anonymousreply 13906/03/2011

The concept of "kept" isn't necessarily based on age. One partner is wealthy or successful and the other one is not wealthy (and looking for a generous provider) or looking for a chance to get his foot in the buiz.

by Anonymousreply 14006/03/2011

Ted Casablanca belonged to Harvey Fierstein, not Bruce Vilanche.

by Anonymousreply 14206/03/2011

My father was kept by a very wealthy gentleman while still married to my mother. It was huge scandal in our little New England village. This was in the late 60's and early 70's. My dad moved (during the week only, he came home on weekends) about an hour and half away to a larger city to attend graduate school and ended up living with a very flamboyant character in his very lavish apartment. Meanwhile my mother and all 4 of us kids stayed on the farm. The guy used to come home with my father on the weekends and bring us all presents and take my mother shopping. %0D %0D My parents later divorced and my father came out of the closet. Met someone and was with him for 36 years until he passed away a couple years ago.

by Anonymousreply 14306/03/2011

Yea, that Depp/Cage thingy doesnt make sense. Typically a "kept boy" is kept by someone older and much more successful. Both men's career starting picking up steam at the same time and they are virtually the same age.

by Anonymousreply 14406/03/2011

That's a fascinating family story, R143, How did affect you and your siblings? Did you kids know all along, or were certain proprieties observed?

Thanks for sharing.

by Anonymousreply 14706/03/2011

My parents never talked about it. My mother acted like she didn't know anything about it at the time. Although, she was having an affair with a co-worker around the same time, so maybe it suited her needs as well. %0D %0D Of course, not being idiots, my siblings and I knew exactly what was going on. I was age 9-11 during this time and was already pretty aware that I definitely liked boys better. So in some ways it helped to know that I wasn't alone although I couldn't imagine that I would ever end up like John - my father's "friend".%0D %0D It was interesting many years later (dad was in his 70's) when I took my dad to see some of his old friends from that city and they told me some pretty wild stories of just how popular my father was during his stay there. %0D %0D He just sat and listened with a goofy grin on his face while they revealed things I never thought I'd know about my father. %0D %0D He was always a very good looking man and apparently had a huge cock and "made the rounds" amongst the fellas there. It wasn't just John who was supporting him(and all of us). %0D %0D Apparently his friends considered me to be another member of the same tribe so nothing was too sacred.

by Anonymousreply 14806/03/2011

Suprised nobody mentioned Colin Farrell was kept by Kevin Spacey.

by Anonymousreply 14908/12/2011

I think the R121 squeeze was Jean Paul Gaultier

by Anonymousreply 15008/13/2011

No more proof needed, that the majority of DLers are senior citizens than this thread. I had to search up who most of these people were.

by Anonymousreply 15108/13/2011

R. 134 is right.

Nicholas Cage has had the work:

At least one bad nose job. Chin implant. Bad hair plugs. An eye job. And possibly more.

And he's still nothing to look at.

by Anonymousreply 15208/13/2011

Don Johnson and Jan Micheal Vincent were "kept" by half the queens in Malibu in the 70's

by Anonymousreply 15308/13/2011

So R143 did you inherit the good looks and huge cock?

by Anonymousreply 15408/13/2011

Ted Casablanca has always gotten by looking 15 year younger than he really is. I wonder if Bruce Vilanch knew how OLD he was at that time, or if it mattered.

by Anonymousreply 15508/13/2011

Who is this old guy with Jake G?
Btw you bitches continue to falsely conflate the concept of "kept men" versus simply dating older men who happen to be famous.

Yes, I'm sure hot muscular unknown young Bruce Bibby dated older fat famous Harvey Fierstein for his personality, not for his checkbook. And the same is true for David Geffen's and Barry Diller's many younthful studs. Good point!

by Anonymousreply 16008/13/2011

"Kept Boy" sound like they were living like Anna Nichol Smith.

Really if someone has money and helps their lover out that does not make them a prostitute.

Ruppert Everette was a prostitute, as that is what he called himself.

by Anonymousreply 16108/13/2011

Colin Ferrel was NOT kept by that old queen Kevin Spacey, moron.

by Anonymousreply 16208/13/2011
Btw you bitches continue to falsely conflate the concept of "kept men" versus simply dating older men who happen to be famous.
Lol, you sound like a delusional old queen.

These young guys are willing to essentially whore themselves out solely because of the benefits of their keepers wealth and power. Sure they might learn to like them in their own way but they are still kept man, don't delude yourself into thinking it is a normal relationship.

by Anonymousreply 16308/13/2011

Is Harley Rodriguez being kept by NKOTB Jonathan Knight?

by Anonymousreply 16408/13/2011

Lets talk about the prostitute of the moment, Colton Haynes. Who were his clients besides Zac Quinto?

by Anonymousreply 16508/13/2011

R161, what turnip truck did you fall out of? Of course it's prostitution. Grow a brain.

Who do you think Keanu sucked to get ahead? Or do you think all his millions came form his superior acting ability?

by Anonymousreply 17108/13/2011

Nick Cage did not have the money to keep Johnny Depp, so don't be ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 17208/13/2011

by Anonymousreply 17308/13/2011

Thank you r162. Obviously Spacey only introduced Farrell to Joel Schumacher out of the goodness of his heart, and Schumacher gave him top-billing in Tigerland because he had such a large... resume. That Spacey is such a tender heart, always charitably looking out for the younger men. I can't believe such a catch hasn't found the right woman yet, LOL, but he does have such high standards and/or has had his heart broken by [INSERT VAGUE EVENT HERE]. Horrible Bosses, in theaters now!! SO FUNNY!!

by Anonymousreply 17408/13/2011

R161 and R163, I think "kept boy" is somewhere in the middle between "prostitute" and "guy with rich lover".%0D %0D I think of prostitutes / escorts as doing everything transaction by transaction, for cash or easily sold gifts - sleep with you for a night, get paid in return.%0D %0D Guys who happen to have rich lovers have a romantic relationship first and foremost (even if the relationship isn't necessarily one of equals), and the career and monetary benefits are secondary to that. In those cases, there'd never be a case where the guy would be "paid" (in money or gifts) in exchange for having sex.%0D %0D Kept boys straddle the two categories. There's a shared underlying understanding that the relationship really isn't romantic. But at the same time, "payment" isn't as straightforward and transactional - it's longer-term, and includes things like favors in addition to gifts and "spending money" (instead of direct payment for sex).

by Anonymousreply 17508/13/2011

Some of the most obvious kept boys can be seen standing alongside elderly queeny fashion designers.

by Anonymousreply 17608/14/2011

Gant isn't gay, was never kept and has never had sex with a man.

by Anonymousreply 17708/14/2011

The best kept boy story was told to me by the elderly boy himself. He was kept by a Swedish baron, and used to yacht with the Swedish Royal Family who called him 'The Little Baron'. But the baron had tin mines in South America, and used to go away for months at a time. One night the boy was sitting on the terrace of the chateau "in one of those endless Swedish twilights, when I saw these animals in the estate Park. I called for one of the servants, and said Erik "What are those cattle?" and he said "Those aren't cattle sir. Those are reindeer." I said "Reindeer?!!! I'm 18, beautiful, and rotting in fucking Lapland!" He packed his bags and fled to London the next day. King Umberto of Italy also tried to pick him up on the Lido. "Such a gentleman. I was later formally introduced to him in the Savoy Grill. He said, "I believe young man we have met before." I bowed very low, and said 'Yes, Your Majesty, I believe we have!"

by Anonymousreply 17808/14/2011

"Obviously Spacey only introduced Farrell to Joel Schumacher out of the goodness of his heart, and Schumacher gave him top-billing in Tigerland because he had such a large... resume"%0D %0D %0D %0D Seriously.%0D %0D %0D Spacey is such a sleaze, he doesn't bother helping guys who don't put out.

I know a woman who hung out with Kurt's crowd. She told me the love of his life was a guy named "Marty" and that when Nirvana started getting traction in the industry, Courtney Love moved in. She was known as a fag hag with an agenda. And she knew where to score.

by Anonymousreply 18604/13/2012

When Nic Cage cast James Franco in the titular role of Sonny, the story of a male prostitute, I understand a lot of research was done, separately and together, by director and actor.

by Anonymousreply 18704/13/2012

why is it that guys named Marty are always edgy and twitchy?

by Anonymousreply 18804/13/2012

"happen to be famous"???

Honey, buy a clue.

No hot young guy like the young Bruce Bibby @1990 is going to date Harvey Fierstein because the latter's fame in incidental. He's going to date Harvey Fierstein because he's rich and famous and can help his career.

If you have trouble understanding that, may I suggest you have a brain transplanted into the empty cavity in your skull.

Oh R162, thanks for throwing in "sod off" so we know you're British.

Are you really this wound up over the distinction between "kept boy", "prostitute" and someone you're conceding may well have whored himself out to get role, or two, or more?

And for someone denouncing the conflation of terms, you should know the difference between a role and a roll.

by Anonymousreply 21910/20/2012

I get the impression that the average former male prostitute is kind of like an old football player/whore considering all the stuff he's put himself through; maybe the wide open shirt with the gaunt aging face with a vague "please fuck me one more time, I won't charge you" look on it; the flattened ass with the cheeks spread too far apart, the only thing he's good for is for young cowboy tops to practice on his well busted-in ass. Is that the image you were looking for OP?

by Anonymousreply 23909/21/2013

bumping this thread up for important reasons.

Met David Geffen. He's a really nice guy, arrogant and cocky, but he has every reason to be. Amazing penthouse apartment on 5th ave. Seriously one of the most incredible apartments in NYC. He e-mailed me online and when we first started talking I had no idea who he was. After a few e-mail exchanges he said "Google me! My name is David Geffen." He propositioned me and told me he wouldn't mind compensating me for my time. Unfortunately I just couldn't do it-the man is old enough to be my father x2. He told me he was into hot younger guys with big dicks. Also just to inform you(and this is relating to previous comments about the boys he likes)I am not white and I don't have a twink-like body.

But then again I could be making all this up just for the hell of what you want!

by Anonymousreply 25006/14/2014

So who else was/is kept?

by Anonymousreply 25108/05/2014

Kevin Lanflisi

I know he's straight, but you know who I always thought looked like he could've been a kept boy? Michael Biehn circa late 70s/80s. I wouldn't be surprised if he did things to break into the business. It would also explain the problems with drugs/alcohol that he had.

by Anonymousreply 25308/05/2014

Gant was on an ep of FRIENDS--that is the first I ever saw him.

Aren't two of the producers of FRIENDS "friends?"

Then he went to CAROLINE IN THE CITY, which I never saw and know nothing about who made it.

Handsome man.

More about Eastwood and Lee Majors please.

Michael Easton was apparently quite in demand in the mid - to - late eighties.

by Anonymousreply 26008/05/2014

R260, I guess his dick is as big IRL as it was on "Ally McBeal."

by Anonymousreply 26108/05/2014

Michael Easton was hot. He has the most monotonous voice, though. How did he get to be one of Llanview's few survivors?

by Anonymousreply 26208/05/2014

Grant Goodeve used to hustle.

by Anonymousreply 26608/05/2014

Thomas Jane admitted that he turned tricks when he first came to Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 26708/05/2014

Gant does a lot of commercial work. Last seen in the volkswagon cc commercial where he is driving through words..

by Anonymousreply 26808/05/2014

Gant plays a lawyer now on "Young & the Restless."

by Anonymousreply 26908/05/2014

Channing Tatum was one. That's an open secret.

by Anonymousreply 27008/06/2014

R267 yeah but he later claimed that he just used his sex appeal to get men just to pay for his meals in restaurants, and then never had sex with them.

by Anonymousreply 27108/06/2014

R256 there is a creepy passivity in "kept," no sane person would describe himself that way.

Any young unemployed frau is technically "kept" but she is called a housewife.

by Anonymousreply 27208/06/2014

So, about Adam Lambert, is it true that he was a kept Boy of Val Kilmer(eeewww! Poor Adam)

by Anonymousreply 28408/07/2014

by Anonymousreply 28508/07/2014

by Anonymousreply 28708/07/2014

Wait a minute!!! Can we back up to the part about Stephen Dorff being kept?!

by Anonymousreply 28808/07/2014

Val Kilmer can't be gay. He dated Cher.

by Anonymousreply 31008/20/2014

by Anonymousreply 31108/20/2014

R309, you're correct; it's not innocent (though does that mean Brad is 'guilty?')

My line of work involves interacting with a LOT of actors in Hollywood, both wanna-bees and established actors.

Many seem to have no problem flirting with men for the attention.

I don't get it though. If they're not gay, there has to be some special word for it that doesn't apply to most straight guys.

I suppose 'self-involved bi-sexual' is apt.

by Anonymousreply 31208/20/2014
I don't get it though. If they're not gay, there has to be some special word for it that doesn't apply to most straight guys.

Ambitious. Narcissistic. If you want to network as an actor you have to learn to be charming and work your good looks. You'd be an idiot to go into the entertainment industry and not realize that includes a lot of gay men.

by Anonymousreply 31308/20/2014
[R309], you're correct; it's not innocent (though does that mean Brad is 'guilty?')

Innocent as in pure and virginal in both thought and deed. You know, like a Ivory Soap, a baby lamb, or a Catholic Priest.

by Anonymousreply 31408/20/2014

"I don't get it though. If they're not gay, there has to be some special word for it that doesn't apply to most straight guys."

The word is "Ambitiosexual": A person whose primary sexual attraction is to people who can help their career.

William Ivey Long kept actor Matt Crabtree

by Anonymousreply 32908/22/2014

R328, "Very few woman pay for sex"

That's not entirely true. I've know a few pro gigolos. Usually they're hired by couples, where the older man will hide in the closet. Or he'll get off by watching in the same room, as the paid escort goes down on her.

More likely it's a reversal of the standard roles. A woman with money wants a fab looking, extremely charming man on her arm, which her looks and or weight and personality would not otherwise enable her to possess.

by Anonymousreply 33008/22/2014

Bullshit, R330. Link to some examples of females outright paying for it (with no involvement of a creepy husband hiding in the closet). It just doesn't happen. Women are nothing like men. They want to be genuinely adored and desired. They'd rather be alone than have to pay someone to pretend.

Even someone like Madonna, or other wealthy, powerful women who date younger men, there is some part of them that knows they're buying love and sex, but their giant egos allow them to fool themselves into thinking they are desired as well.

R331, How could I link you to some examples of females paying for men if they're not famous? My former roomie was a professional model, 20's, originally from the Mid West, and extremely charming. He signed up with a Vegas agency that sent men out to entertain ladies and couples for the evening.

I also wrote about Nico Santucci in the Clooney thread. We had an agreement to write a book, "$10,000 a Weekend, The True Story of an American Gigolo." He didn't want to give up his lifestyle, so the book was never completed. His current pics are nothing like he looked when I knew him, by the way.

In Hollywood I attended a talk given by a casting director, and former secretary, of how to get into the business. B.S., said my Latin friend, and former gigolo. She gave me the same offer she gave to (listed the major male and female stars she had helped get careers.) I couldn't "do her" as she was too heavy set and masculine for my taste.

That's very rare R332. If it wasn't there would be tons of escort sites aimed at women. There are none. All cater to men--gay and straight.

[You do realize that this is a troll, right? It just craves attention. You might want to stop talking to it.]

I'll bet that much of what's called Camp Podwall are kept boys or were at one time.

I'd really like to see links to these claims, just for proof.

R333, R334, The very wealthy woman who wants a gigolo, possibly because her boyfriend or husband is cheating and/or has left, won't go to an agency. Neither will the plainer lady with a now successful career, who wants a very attractive escort without having to compete.

Most upscale mistresses make the man look and feel better about himself. Extremely charming men, who are very well groomed, well spoken, even flirtatious, and highly complimentary of everyone no matter how unlikable the person, and who work in jobs catering to elite women, are often in essence part-time gigolos if they're single and straight.

Think of the top salesman at a pricey boutique, or at an expensive shoe store, a successful bartender at a restaurant with a mostly female clientele, a straight hairdresser or masseur, or an employee at a country club. Golf pros, kids' private swimming instructors, or those in the luxury industries also rely on repeat business from wealthy ladies.

The gigolos I've known say it usually starts with a "thank you" lunch in an expensive restaurant, or cocktails after the man's work day. Or perhaps the lady buys him an expensive gift, and then gives him a bigger offer.

If the young gentlemen is very flirtatious, he may get a subtle invitation to escort the lady to a fancy social event, when her ex or her friends are in attendance. Of course the woman will pay for everything, and the savvy man may receive "carfare" after the event. Or she might start buying him appropriate clothes to wear to her events, as a guarantee he'll show.

Seduction, slow dancing at a very formal party, sexual teasing after a few drinks, a shoulder or back massage afterwards, are how it all starts. It's not necessarily penetrative sex. He is there to meet her desires, do things her less physically attractive ex wouldn't do for her in bed. That's after making her look good to her social set, so her friends suggest she invite him to their next party.

Perhaps later on he'll be taken on a luxury trip, after she's covered his loss of wages for the week.

Mr. Pitt was Tom Racina's "roommate" or "house boy".

Geffen used to go for rentboys. He sometimes gave them jobs in his businesses, but he also tended to be verbally abusive and demeaning to them.

The number of women who pay for sex is really miniscule. If a large number of women were willing to pay for sex the gay for pay phenomenon would not exist, straight guys could just sell themselves to the ladies.

Fabian , Frankie Avalon and Lou Christie lived in the same home in the Hollywood Hills, They had the same manager , What a party!!!!

by Anonymousreply 34312/06/2014

R342 gay for pay is a myth, if a guy is really hetero/straight he's not going to sell his dick, mouth, or ass to gay and bi men for any amount of cash, and he'll just find other ways to get it instead.

But this is datalounge and many queens here need the "ALL men are bisexual!" fantasy.

About Robert Gant (without engaging in a battle over Georgetown grad salaries):

Having a decent income means you acquire an expensive livelihood and have tons of bills to pay. Switching to a high-risk, low paying career at a young age can be done only if a) you maintain another source of high income on the side b) you abandon your expenses c) you have a trust fund. Gorgeous Gant could have easily opted for a) by choosing to have a "mentor."

So saying that he used to be an expensive lawyer is no argument against the possibility of having been a hooker but if anything, supports the idea.

by Anonymousreply 34501/01/2015

But what's the line R345 between being a "kept boy" and having an older, wealthier boyfriend that you're actually into? [no idea who Gant's boyfriend was or if he even had one. Just asking. And his real last name is Gonzalez or something equally Hispanic.)

Isn't he with the president of NBC now too? Can't imagine they bring in anywhere close to the same amount of money, though they are close to the same age.

R344, "gay for pay" is not the same thing as bisexual
