It’s White rule forever now. The South won the war, it seems. What a disaster.
They haven’t ruled yet.
They just heard arguments.

This should work out well for them.

R1, c’mon. You know where this is going.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 16, 2025 11:08 PM |
Sure, but it has not happened yet.

Thank God I'm white.

I have completely given up on this country. Redistricting, the partisan ownership of voting machines, the inability of Republicans in Congress to stand up to the Imperial President, a probably invoking of the Insurrection Act and a completely neutered Democratic opposition are just too much. We've fallen. I don't see a way out of this in my lifetime short of a military coup or our defeat in a more traditional type World War with a subsequent war crimes tribunal.
At this point we are actively seeking foreign residency and packing our bags. We will be out of here by the "next scheduled" election in November 2026.

Let’s face it, the vast majority of the country wants this. They would still vote for Trump if he was on the ballot and the election was held tomorrow. The country is gone.

The passivity on this thread is amazing.
SURRENDER DOROTHY
"Oh, okay."

As always, Americans took their prosperity and freedoms for granted. Most of the electorate assumed it would be status quo with more Trump stimulus checks and handouts to MAGA. That's why we didnt get the 80 million Biden voters. Some people still believed Trump despite knowing he is a liar. There was racism, misogyny and preservation of white privilege at play but I don't think all Trump voters would trade away their livelihood, healthcare and financial security for white Christian nationalist serfdom. If an election were held today, Trump would lose...but the election is not today. I hate the government shutdown but I think it might just unmask the cruelty and inhumanity of the MAGA government.

And wouldn't you know that CT was the biggest proponent of this bull shit!

John Roberts has been after the Voting Rights Act his entire professional life, dating from his early years in the Reagan administration.

Thank you for that comment, R12. I don't mind correction by someone more knowledgeable.

Not meant as a correction. Clarence too.
From an outsider’s perspective, it sure looks like the Republican Justices have been engaged in a decades-long mission to increase Republican power by any and all means in cooperation with various outside Republican think tanks like The Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation, all funded by right-wing billionaires.
They have eliminated campaign finance reform, allowed extreme gerrymandering, even mid-census , and now they are systematically destroying the Voting Rights Act piece by piece.
On a parallel track, they are determined to elevate the power of the Presidency and destroy independent regulatory agencies, bring them under the total control of the President even though they had been established by Congress to be quasi-executive and quasi-judicial and therefore properly partially insulated from the President’s control.
I believe they want to increase the power of the Presidency because they realize that they will never get the billionaires’ agenda through Congress, which has its own relationships with the agencies through budget and oversight, but if one sympathetic President can act unilaterally, they can tear whatever agencies and programs they don’t like by fiat. It’s much easier to destroy agencies and programs than it is to create and build them.

Hypocritically, they are going to exempt the Federal Reserve Board from the control of their imagined “unitary executive “ because the billionaires do not want the Fed to be under political control. So they’ll say it’s “special.”
