Pixies!
Any fans? There is nothing especially gay about them but their lyrics and harmonies and damn catchy cacophony had me as a big fan in the very early 90s. There is no “The” in the name.
I saw them in concert Thanksgiving weekend in 1990 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Kim Deal said maybe two things, the rest just played and made no eye contact. And Joey Santiago was from the town right next door (Longmeadow).

You are do not alone, though I didn't appreciate them as much at the time as I do now Always loved Frank's Brian Wilson cover to bits too. Kinda meh on The Breeders aside from the hits.

Love The Pixies-- one of my all time favorites along with Jesus and Mary Chain and The Smiths. I saw The Pixies a few weeks ago in Houston. They played all their great sounds and some surprise b sides like The Lady in the Radiator song from Eraserhead.

I liked Kim Deal’s first Breeders album as it was an entire humid Kim Deal. As the albums go by, she’s contributing less and less until she finally left.

I had just transferred into UMASS/Amherst the month they came out with “Trompe Le Monde” with the song “U-MASS”. I thought it was so cool and was disappointed that it didn’t become a campus anthem.

I think their 2014 album “Indie Cindy” has some good songs but nothing matches the output from 1986-1991. Completely unmatched.

Was a huge fan in the early 90s but can’t listen to them anymore. It’s great rock, but feels dated to me for personal reasons.

Their lyrics are amazingly weird.
