Which period of culture that you lived through are you most nostalgic for now?
...by which I mean not nostlagic because of the events in your own life, but rather because of the movies, songs, TV shows, and even magazines of the time.
For example, I always am most nostalgic for the culture of the late 70s and very early 80s, when i was in junior high.

Tough. I’m in my late 30s and I enjoy the 80s which I really didn’t experience or live through too long.
But that also comes from growing up with 80s nostalgia in the 2000s. 80s revival and “I Love the 80s” on VH1 and 80s greatest hits commercials.
So I suppose that’s the answer. And that was high school.

I must say I really loved being an 80s kid. So many fun popcorn movies, amazing pop music and new wave - everything was so colorful, vibrant and exciting. Interesting fashion. 90s fashion was not great and while I loved a lot of the music, it felt darker and more nihilistic overall.

Coming of age in the 1990s. Things felt optimistic. Technology was still at a manageable level. The Clinton era felt prosperous and like a lite at the end of the tunnel from the Reagan/Bush/AIDS '80s.

I didn’t make much money for most of my twenties, but had more adventures. Plus, it was the 90s!

I turned 8 in 1980.
The politics of the time was fucking awful. Not as bad as now, but not far off - Thatcher, Reagan what a gruesome twosome. That whole greed is good ethos is totally at odds with my core values. Mainstream homophobia was out of control. AIDS loomed.
But there was great music. Television was limited to 4 channels in the UK and there was a feeling that the cool people were all watching and experiencing the same things at the same time.
I don't miss school. Anyone who says school days are the best days of your life, never grew up gay. But I loved the potential and anticipation of joining the gay world when I was old enough to.
Actually I think the thing I miss the most is my naivety and carefree times of youth before I became cynical.

I came of age in the 90s (graduated in 1998). I loved every minute. We were all angsty and depressed on the surface, but had big dreams and weren't afraid to chase them.
Loved the indie music scene. Loved the great movies being made. TV kinda sucked, but who watched that when we had books to read.
The internet was a tool not a lifestyle.
Clinton's economy was fantastic.
It was just a great time to be young.

The seventies. Things seemed to be getting better every year. And then came the eighties. The Disappointment Era. The Reagan Era. The AIDS Era. Can't believe people are kvelling about the eighties, the decade the worseness started.
