What was Diane Keaton's greatest film performance?
I've been trying to take stock of her remarkable oeuvre. Obviously I can't list all her great films, so if I didn't name the one you wanted, just vote for "Other" and list the one you wanted.
I didn't list the first Godfather because other than the great final scene she really doesn't really have much to do in that movie--she got much more to do in The Godfather Part II. I also left off other films where she had supporting roles, like the Father of the Bride films. I wish i had had room to list Interiors, Love and Death (a huge favorite of mine), Baby Boom, and The First Wives' Club--feel free to vote for them under "Other" (or for any other film I didn;t have space to list).

I loved Reds and she was terrific in it.

It’s Annie Hall and we all know it.
I watched it again this weekend. I’ve seen it many times, and while I might not be able to recite the script, I always know what’s going to happen.
And yet Keaton still surprises me every time. It’s a performance that always has more to discover.

Hers was a career of under acknowledged range. We all know and love ‘Annie Hall,’ but she was devastating in ‘Shoot the Moon,’ opposite an equally impressive Albert Finney and Dana Hill. All three of them deserved Oscar nominations.

Then why isn't it currently in first place?
it's certainly her most ICONIC performance, but that's not necessarily the same thing.

How can Annie Hall be her greatest performance, when she's totally playing herself? Diane Hall is even her real name.
It's her most endearing character, but not much of a stretch.

Not you, OP, but the minimizing of her excellent work in The Godfather 1 on DL never ceases to amaze me. The most eccentric woman in Hollywood was a stand-in for the audience, curious about, attracted to, mistrustful of and ultimately humiliated by the glamour of organised crime’s grotesque human mask.

I loved her in The Little Dummer Girl r7. The reviews were very unfair, I feel. She was maybe 5-10 years at most, but her performance was excellent.

Have to disagree about Drummer Girl. If you read the novel you’d know she was completely miscast. She did pretty well anyway but that was a role that needed Judy Davis (LeCarre wanted Davis for the role, but she wasn’t enough of a name for the studio people).
Florence Pugh was also underwhelming in the same part in the miniseries.

"Playing yourself" is not as easy as it may seem.

She as great in Crimea Of The Heart but it suffers from mediocre direction from Bruce Beresford.
And she outdid Finney in SHOOT THE MOON for sure.
