R52, the food quality has taken a nose dive. I think people still go there because their memories allow the current food to taste like the food they remember.
I worked at a McDonald's in 1978. The food was actually cooked on grills. There were empty cartons of eggs in the garbage because the breakfast egg dishes were made from fresh ingredients. Now, other than the fries, nothing is cooked fresh. Burger patties come out of some warming drawer as do the buns. The chocolate shakes were made from cartons and put into the blender. Now, they are so sweet and there's not even a HINT of chocolate flavor in them.

Also, Bond No. 9 Soho. Their other perfumes are awesome. I didn’t care for this one. The swirly bottle design was offensive to the eye and the scent faded too soon. I went back to their Lafayette. It’s a friendly, optimistic, non-sexy scent. It has an original Lagerfeld vibe.

NYC winters. It's been decades since we've had a super heavy thick blanket of snow made by big fluffy Christmas-Card cotton-ball flakes. If we get any snow at all its little icy wet flakes and a thin snowfall that turns to grey slush in a day.
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, specifically the balloons. There were commercial character tie-ins from the start, but now nearly all the balloons are corporate logos.
If you attend it you will find there are huge empty stretches of boring between the bands and floats.

Food quality at American McDonalds has declined to the unsatisfying zone.
This becomes apparent when dining at McDonalds in a country with strict controls over ingredient quality. It can be almost tasty like the old days in USA. Still, the texture has become "mushier" as a marketing choice.

Ah, Babylon isn’t what it used to be. The temple boys these days don’t even speak proper Akkadian. Half of them can’t declaim a single hymn to Ishtar without checking their tablets. Back in the day you could find a proper temple youth, perfumed in cedar oil and quoting Gilgamesh. Now it’s all rough trade from the upper Tigris!
