Oh no. He had a great voice. RIP D'Angelo.

by Anonymousreply 1October 14, 2025 4:43 PM

Damn! Wow. Way too young. He was very, very talented.

And very, very beautiful.

Oh sad. I recall that video of his at R2. Naked and gorgeous. That must've been a quarter century ago.

RIP.

by Anonymousreply 3October 14, 2025 4:53 PM

He had a hot ass but he couldn't live forever

by Anonymousreply 4October 14, 2025 4:54 PM

[quote] He had a hot ass

He sure did!

by Anonymousreply 5October 14, 2025 4:59 PM

Any relation to Beverly?

by Anonymousreply 6October 14, 2025 5:38 PM

I didn't know (or remember, apparently) that he was involved with Angie Stone and they had a son together. She died earlier this year in a messy car accident, while on tour.

by Anonymousreply 7October 14, 2025 5:49 PM

Stop saying I'm dead, gays!

by Anonymousreply 8October 14, 2025 5:52 PM

Pancreatic Cancer is the worst- almost no one survives it.

RIP

by Anonymousreply 9October 14, 2025 5:55 PM

Sad. I feel so bad for the child he shares with Angie Stone. Losing both parents in the same year must be awful.

by Anonymousreply 10October 14, 2025 6:00 PM

Never heard of him

by Anonymousreply 11October 14, 2025 6:02 PM

He was hot af. Sad. 51 is too young to die.

by Anonymousreply 12October 14, 2025 6:02 PM

Thanks for letting us know, R11. I'll notify the family.

by Anonymousreply 13October 14, 2025 6:03 PM

He had a long history of severe alcohol abuse that could have been the cause of it.

by Anonymousreply 14October 14, 2025 6:06 PM

Another loss of some truly fine BBC.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE, please!

Condolences to his family and friends.

D'Angelo was a gifted artist, and it is disgraceful how his management team mishandled his and the now late Angie Stone's relationship.

These shocks to the entertainment world are coming too often and too swiftly; take a break, Fate, and do politics.

Rest In Peace, D'Angelo.

by Anonymousreply 17October 14, 2025 6:33 PM

I seem to recall gay rumors. Any truth?

by Anonymousreply 18October 14, 2025 6:56 PM

I saw him in concert in early 2000s. Very handsome and sounded great live.

by Anonymousreply 19October 14, 2025 7:19 PM

Now that's was an unexpected one.

I have an InStyle magazine where he's interviewed as the Man of Style of the month.

I remember that back in the day, the "Unititled" music video caused tons of controversy because straight black guys hated it.

by Anonymousreply 20October 14, 2025 7:25 PM

[quote]it is disgraceful how his management team mishandled his and the now late Angie Stone's relationship

What did they do?

by Anonymousreply 21October 14, 2025 7:30 PM

I get him in the Rockwell guy confused.

by Anonymousreply 22October 14, 2025 7:37 PM

Rockwell was very much an ‘80s artist. D’Angelo was a contemporary of Maxwell who came up in the mid-90s. They were considered “neo-soul” along with Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Angie Stone, etc. .

by Anonymousreply 23October 14, 2025 7:47 PM

Maxwell was hot, too

by Anonymousreply 24October 14, 2025 8:15 PM

Was he a good bitch or a bad bitch?

by Anonymousreply 25October 14, 2025 8:31 PM

I don’t know her.

by Anonymousreply 26October 14, 2025 8:33 PM

I wonder if the child (son?) of Angie Stone and D'Angelo can sing too. Poor kid, losing both parents in a 3-4 month span.

by Anonymousreply 27October 14, 2025 8:41 PM

^ well if he can, he’s got great material for an entire album.

by Anonymousreply 28October 14, 2025 8:46 PM

Rockwell was a one-hit wonder from the 80s. He's known for exactly one song which is pretty much a novelty song for Halloween. He has zero in common with D'Angelo. Their music couldn't be more different.

by Anonymousreply 29October 14, 2025 8:50 PM

[quote] What did they do?

After the sensation caused by the "Untitled" video they wanted to market him as a sex symbol. Record label and artist management did not want a full-figured, dark-skinned baby mama who was 10 years older getting in the way of this juggernaut. Stone said the relationship ended as a result.

by Anonymousreply 30October 14, 2025 9:08 PM

I’ve always loved his voice. This song he did with Lauryn Hill is gorgeous.

(And R29 is right. Don’t get why Rockwell would even be mentioned in this thread.)

This man and his voice were amazing.

by Anonymousreply 32October 14, 2025 9:11 PM

Love those Vacation movies.

by Anonymousreply 33October 14, 2025 9:19 PM

Wow, the photos of him in that People article are pretty hot.

He was a handsome guy.

On the DL?

by Anonymousreply 34October 14, 2025 9:20 PM

R34 Watch the video at R2. That will make you CUM!

by Anonymousreply 35October 14, 2025 9:30 PM

I like Metallica's S&M album with the San Francisco Symphony. You can tell Michael Kamen is loving his job.

Angie Stone was killed last year in a car accident, their kids are now orphans

by Anonymousreply 37October 14, 2025 9:34 PM

Oh man. I’m certain I jerked off to him when he first made it big. RIP sweet fountain of chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 38October 14, 2025 9:36 PM

Oops Metallica recommendation, wrong thread.

by Anonymousreply 39October 14, 2025 9:37 PM

Rockwell, Metallica.... can I throw in Mama Cass?

by Anonymousreply 40October 14, 2025 9:52 PM

No, just Debby Boone.

by Anonymousreply 41October 14, 2025 9:57 PM

I have a new movie out in theaters.

by Anonymousreply 42October 14, 2025 10:09 PM

The man could sing, was sexy AF and he put on an amazing show. RIP.

I'm also a big Angie Stone fan. It's very sad losing two neo soul icons within 5 months of each other. Let alone their history and son they shared.

by Anonymousreply 43October 14, 2025 10:27 PM

RIP. Sad. His kid has now lost both his parents in one year. His mom was Angie Stone.

by Anonymousreply 44October 14, 2025 10:54 PM

They would constantly play that naked song at my local bathhouse.

by Anonymousreply 45October 14, 2025 11:29 PM

He truly had a hot ass but he couldn’t live forever . RIP

by Anonymousreply 46October 14, 2025 11:35 PM

R2 I remember when that video came out. It stirred my gay loins.

by Anonymousreply 47October 14, 2025 11:44 PM

How Does It Feel is amazing, always loved that song.

by Anonymousreply 48October 15, 2025 12:21 AM

Poor Beverly

by Anonymousreply 49October 15, 2025 12:22 AM

R49 Signing your post as Rose would have been perfect.

by Anonymousreply 50October 15, 2025 12:25 AM

I loved Unshaken from the RDR2 soundtrack.

by Anonymousreply 51October 15, 2025 1:01 AM

That video really was amazing. I wanted to lick every inch of him.

I didn't know all of his music but I loved what I've heard.

by Anonymousreply 52October 15, 2025 1:04 AM

D'Angelo's song "Brown Sugar" is regarded as the alpha track of so-called 'neo-soul.'. Hits by Maxwell, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill followed in quick succession and all of the sudden soul music enjoyed a renaissance. D'Angelo was a huge part of that.

by Anonymousreply 53October 15, 2025 2:19 AM

It's a shame neo-soul wasn't bigger and didn't last longer. Real organic talent and great music. Unfortunately it was short-lived.

by Anonymousreply 54October 15, 2025 2:52 AM

The poster comparing him to Rockwell was either attempting and failing to be funny or is special needs

by Anonymousreply 55October 15, 2025 3:13 AM

Statement from his and Angie’s son, Michael Archer II:

“I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers during these very difficult times, as it has been a very rough and sad year for me,” Michael shared in a statement to Loren LaRosa. “I ask that you please continue to keep me in your thoughts as it will not be easy, but one thing that both my parents taught me was to be strong, and I intend to do just that.”

He’s 27. Poor guy.

Fuck cancer.

by Anonymousreply 56October 15, 2025 3:14 AM

Noooo!

by Anonymousreply 57October 15, 2025 3:38 AM

What a beautiful, talented guy. Sad to read this.
