Went in expecting a limited series but it was a Hallmark quality script. Needed more time to develop characters and motives. I love Guy Pearce but this was not good. It felt like it was originally going to be more but maybe ran out of money?
Anyone else?

I saw the trailer for this yesterday when I was turning on Netflix to watch Poldark. At first, I thought it might be something to give a chance, but as the trailer went on, I decided I'd seen the entire premise of the movie and there would be nothing more revealing/entertaining to be gained by watching it. It looked just as unfulfilling as this post probably is.

I didn't know anything about the source material, but the movie was a dud. I always love a good mystery/whodunnit on a big boat, but this wasn't enjoyable.

Like I said, not enough back story for the characters. Why was the doctor being blackmailed? What was our main heroine's trauma aside from seeing a woman murdered but what was that story?
As I said, needed to be an 8-10 part series to flesh it out.

I read the book and forgot it immediately. It came out in the wake of “The Girl on the Train”.
The only thing I remember from it is that the rich guy/suspect is described as wearing a tiny swimsuit in a hot tub. I wanted to see that visualized.

It’s like an old 70’s made for TV movie (absurd plot, inexplicable character decisions and motivations) but with a bigger budget.
