Blake Lively's 'It Ends With Us' proposed contract had bonus plan for Oscar, Golden Globe, and SAG award nods
Is this some sort of SOP with contract boilerplate that studios use for high name recognition actors or those with high box office or critical praise? Or is this yet another example of Reynolds-Lively hubris? I'm thinking it's the latter.
[QUOTE]In the proposed contract, Lively would have been paid $100,000 for an Academy Award nomination and $200,000 for a win, to be capped at $200,000 total. Lively would have been paid $75,000 for Golden Globe nomination and $100,000 for a win, and $50,000 for a SAG Award nomination and $75,000 for a win.
If it's SOP, I assume it's not to elicit great performances, but to insure actors comply with awards lobbying. Can you see the snotty, condescending Lively campaigning for an award? She'd make JLC look demure and reticent.

I just laughed out loud. Awards for a Colleen Hoover adaptation?!
She really thinks she’s something special doesn’t she? Oh my, I am so glad I have not been paying attention to this drama. It feels like it’s been going on for a decade.

In the contract negotiation world we call that an empty concession - one we knew we’d never have to fulfill.

Ah, you pointed out what I forgot to mention, r2 -- it's essentially a Hallmark production. What gives? I know actors are known for a stunning lack of self-awareness, but don't they know when the material stinks? It's not about them.

Are we all holding our breath for the inevitable Oscar nomination?

Do you think she’ll win for costume design since she insisted on wearing all her own bizarre, shitty clothes?

It’s like the lottery. If you don’t play you’ll never win.
R3 answered your question. Performative performance goals —nothing to see here.

If we give Blake the Jada Shut-up-the-Cunt Pinkett Oscar will this piece of work go away so we can hire Justin and enjoy him in sexy clothes?

There are tons of better looking women than Blake in Great Neck. She's not pretty, she just has long blonde hair. She's a shitty actress. Why is she a "star"?

So it's the case that inferior actors ask for these sorts of things on a regular basis, r3?

A-list asks for and gets much more.
