Ride the NYC Subway, Get Beaten to Death

Fucking outrageous. Everyone knew this murderer/"struggling artist" was trouble, but they kept letting him off. A 64 year old, Brooklyn native, survivor of both islamic terror attacks on the WTC gets beaten to death. The legal aide lawyer, Gretchen Reeser says he's not a flight risk but she doesn't give a shit about the safety of law-abiding citizens. The prosecutors and judges are totally useless and act helpless every time this violent criminal is before the court. Elected officials remain silent as criminals are released.

(Sorry about the NYPost link. I couldn't remember how to post the paywalled NYTs article.)

Violence is a social construct.

that's fucked up

The murderer was in and out of jail for various crimes, OP. Are you mad that they didn't execute him after his second or third offense? It's a disgusting crime but you can't really blame anyone except the scumbag who did it.

Thank you for bringing this awful even to our attention. Trust that DL's eldergays are the key stakeholder who will finally achieve some policy changes to right these wrongs in our justice system and civil society. You are doing important work, OP, and we thank you for it.

Toss him in the East River.

This story is horrible. The murderer belonged in jail not on the streets. Don’t minimize the incident and pretend it doesn’t stem from changes in policy.

Enjoy Mamdani!

by Anonymousreply 8October 12, 2025 11:51 AM

The sociopathic killer should run for mayor of NYC because why the hell not?

by Anonymousreply 9October 12, 2025 11:59 AM

Oh my gosh, the New York Post has never run a story like this before.

by Anonymousreply 10October 12, 2025 12:02 PM

R8 - Eric Adams is still the mayor

by Anonymousreply 11October 12, 2025 12:04 PM

R10, it's in the NYTs, too.

by Anonymousreply 12October 12, 2025 12:04 PM

R10 - R8 doesn't care. It's all Mamdani's fault according to R8.

In the absence of a nurturing family and stable work, the perp belonged in a jail or insane asylum. But I guess we can't have any of those four conditions.

Basically isn't that because the rich must get much much richer?

It is a terrible story, but keep it in perspective. Millions of people ride the NYC subway everyday without getting their heads bashed in.

The alternative to living in a free society that recognizes and sadly accepts that there are some dangerous people out there who will act out is a police state where the government is the predator. No thank you.

The problem of the mentally ill criminal is real and the criminal justice system has long had a difficult time handling it. Our justice system is designed to react to specific criminal acts, not to resolve the problem of the rare lunatic. Declaring someone criminally insane, a threat to public safety, and locking them up forever (assuming there is some place to send them) is a draconian act. I’d rather live in a society where that is harder than it should be to accomplish than easier. The authoritarian world is full of political prisoners declared insane and threats to public safety.

It is a difficult problem, and the right exploits it to justify a crackdown on us all.
