Oh my God, would you people please pick a side and stay on it? I never even liked the woman in that USA Network show she was on (didn't watch her wedding; don't follow her). R13, all the more reason why she would have had to ask even though they text regularly. If she was not a Fashion Week regular, a designer would, I think, hesitate to invite a Duchess to fly to Europe to see his show (his first for Balenciaga, no?), believing that HE might be pushing the limits of the friendship.

Of course, this is also what he would say if trying to douse the rumours that Meghan more or less invaded his show. To be fair, he probably had more on his mind in the lead-up than to calculate the potential virality of his guests' behaviour.

What’s funny is Diana would have absolutely loved Meghan even if it were “put on”, initially. She would have forced herself to like Meghan simply because Meghan is black American and comes from a non rich household. She would have absolutely understood how that reads and the importance of Meghan being embraced. Fucking idiots.

In general I think if Diana were still living, Meghan would have had a mentor and ally as a mother in law and would have navigated her public life and PR better.

It was positive attention for Balenciaga. Despite what the designer said, this was arranged by her manager. Balenciaga provided the clothes, travel and accommodations, as well as an appearance fee.

Which other fashion show do you remember? Besides, Meghan is a huge draw among black and mixed-Hispanic elite women. And the money from the wives of dictators and assorted kleptocrats can afford couture. The management company did it well, just pictures of her entering and exist; she did not outshine the name Balenciaga.

At this point I feel positive she actively engineers situations where she can appear like an annoying arsehole.

Why would the designer go with that story rather than saying he invited her? If they had been texting for a few years, wouldn't it be natural for him to extend the invitation?
