Microdosing magic mushrooms--anyone else?

I've been taking thrice weekly microdoses of psilocybin for the last four weeks, and it's been life-changing. I never feel "high", just markedly more patient, tolerant, peaceful, and grounded. No more road rage, deep political anxiety and anger, wanting to bitch slap my co-workers, or privately seething at my partner's annoying habits. It's also calmed my eczema and lessened my joint pain (apparently it's also anti-inflammatory), and really boosted my libido. Zero side-effects. It feels like it's healing my frazzled brain and body.

I firmly believe if all Americans were secretly dosed with this stuff we would be a far less polarized, anxious, and violent people.

Any other fellow shroomers here?

by Anonymousreply 64October 14, 2025 3:52 AM

What’s your regimen, op? I’m interested in doing this, but also scared.

by Anonymousreply 1October 10, 2025 1:22 PM

Where do you source this from?

by Anonymousreply 2October 10, 2025 1:23 PM

I would do it but I done have a mushroom source.

by Anonymousreply 3October 10, 2025 1:55 PM

Shrooms / LSD are the only drugs I DON'T regret taking. And I regret a LOT. But as for taking them now? No, I think that ship has sailed.

by Anonymousreply 4October 10, 2025 2:09 PM

R1 I do 4 days on, 3 days off.

R2 I was getting them from a friend of a friend, but then I found this website which sells it in gummy and tea form and is perfectly dosed, so I've been ordering from there, since it was the same price anyway. I think it comes from Oregon, where it's legal.

^ Meant to say, 3 days on, 4 days off.

by Anonymousreply 6October 10, 2025 6:24 PM

Seems pricey.

by Anonymousreply 7October 10, 2025 6:29 PM

I"m intrigued. Calming and healing and a step toward inner peace sound great, but R5 does it make you less motivated/productive? I'd like to feel even a little more beatific on the inside but still capable of getting shit done.

by Anonymousreply 8October 10, 2025 6:32 PM

I just want to trip.

by Anonymousreply 9October 10, 2025 6:40 PM

R8 Not at all. I've actually been more productive because the anxiety and resentment that enormously contributed to procrastination for me has been softened so much. It also makes me care a lot less what people think (in a good way), so it's eased my perfectionism tremendously. I'm embracing opportunities I wouldn't have thought I had a chance at before, because I was just so hard on myself.

by Anonymousreply 10October 10, 2025 6:54 PM

R7 It does seem that way, but because you're taking such small doses, it only comes out to around $40 a month. I buy the 10 gram peach tea for $120, and that will last me a little over 3 months.

by Anonymousreply 11October 10, 2025 6:58 PM

I'm prone to severe panic attacks so if you secretly dosed me with hallucinogens you'd probably traumatize me for life. No thanks.

by Anonymousreply 12October 10, 2025 7:10 PM

R1 I'm a scaredy cat about drugs too, which is what stopped me from trying it for so long. I get super anxious and paranoid from weed, and the two times in my life I tried acid I basically wanted to jump out a window the whole time. Mushrooms are SO different though. It just makes you feel connected--to your self, to others, to nature. "Grounded" is the best word I can think to describe it. Whereas THC is, in my opinion, detaching.

Also, when you're microdosing, the goal is NOT to be high. If you're feeling high, you've had too much. It just feels like a really good day--one of those days where everything feels a bit easier and happier.

You know how the goal of meditation is not to try and prevent thoughts and feelings from coming, but instead to just notice them and let them flow by you like a river? That's what microdosing shrooms is like. I don't take things so personally that other people do or say, I don't get stuck in thought/anxiety loops or let frustrations or disappointments drag me down or spiral. I observe them, I'm curious about them, then I let them flow past me.

by Anonymousreply 13October 10, 2025 7:13 PM

[quote]Mushrooms are SO different though.

Only when you microdose, r13.

by Anonymousreply 14October 10, 2025 7:17 PM

R14 Well, yeah. That's what the post is about.

by Anonymousreply 15October 10, 2025 7:28 PM

It's important to stress that, r15.

by Anonymousreply 16October 10, 2025 7:58 PM

OP = Ayelet Waldman

by Anonymousreply 17October 10, 2025 8:09 PM

OP, do you take any anti-depressants, and if so, do you continue to do so while microdosing. This is an interesting option for me, as your situation sounds similar to mine, and anti-depressants haven't cut it for some time... Glad it's working for you.

by Anonymousreply 18October 11, 2025 7:55 PM

[quote] I buy the 10 gram peach tea for $120, and that will last me a little over 3 months.

I'm curious to try. But how do 5 tea bags last you three months? Do you only drink it once a week or something and the effect lasts for 2 weeks?

by Anonymousreply 19October 11, 2025 8:31 PM

I do not, R18, and from my understanding, they're best not mixed. It can either put you at risk for serotonin syndrome, or else just cancel each other out. For instance, I know Lexapro would prevent the mushrooms from taking effect.

by Anonymousreply 20October 11, 2025 8:40 PM

OP is it safe to do this if you take antidepressants?

by Anonymousreply 21October 11, 2025 8:43 PM

What about 20 mg of Prozac daily, r20?

by Anonymousreply 22October 11, 2025 8:46 PM

How about half a bottle of champagne a day?

by Anonymousreply 23October 11, 2025 8:50 PM

I had a bad mushroom trip as a lad, so I’m wary, but a friend of my brother swears by microdosing.

Unfortunately, the party scene in “The Studio” may cut the other way.

by Anonymousreply 24October 11, 2025 8:52 PM

Just ordered gummies OP, thanks for letting us know about this.

by Anonymousreply 25October 11, 2025 8:57 PM

I enjoyed tripping on acid and mushrooms and never had a bad trip.

Uh oh, watching r26's video of Lisa Simpson tripping brought me to a YouTube rabbit hole. This has nothing to do with shrooming, except that I took two gummies an hour ago.

This is a relevant clip for the day.

R22 The best thing to do if you're serious about starting a microdosing protocol for depression/anxiety would be to first titrate off the anti-depressants (safely, of course). You'd pretty much be flushing money down the drain by doing them both at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 28October 11, 2025 9:55 PM

R25 Let us know how it goes!

by Anonymousreply 29October 11, 2025 9:56 PM

R19 I brew it all in one batch along with honey and then freeze it into ice cubes which I measure out by 0.25 grams. I microdose in cycles of 3 days on/ 4 days off (other people do 4 days on/3 days off)

by Anonymousreply 30October 11, 2025 10:01 PM

I think you’d have to titrate off the antidepressant first for safety. For me that rules out microdosing shrooms for now since I finally found an effective antidepressant and going off of them is unpleasant.

by Anonymousreply 31October 11, 2025 10:03 PM

OP, I do take Lexapro to little effect, so I will get off them first and see how long it stays in one's system. Then start taking gummies, which I just ordered this afternoon.

by Anonymousreply 32October 11, 2025 10:14 PM

Op, I am interested in this. So, you are saying that each microdose should be 0.25 grams? Does height, age or weight go into the calculations? I am looking at the Peach Gummies at $35 per bag. They have 20 X 100mg in a bag. Does that mean 2-1/2 gummies per microdose? (Math has never been my strong point).

by Anonymousreply 33October 11, 2025 10:19 PM

I ate half of a mushroom bar and had a really bad trip. It put me off hallucinogens for life. I really regret messing up and taking so much.

by Anonymousreply 34October 12, 2025 12:05 AM

We had some great threads on here a few years back where I learned to grow them myself. Calling Mushie…

by Anonymousreply 35October 12, 2025 5:45 AM

r35, I was an active participant in that thread and grew two crops. It was a hassle. Since then, shrooms have been available legally in San Francisco and Berkeley shops. When I retired, I gave favorite staff members a bottle of gummies. Need to follow up on that.

by Anonymousreply 36October 12, 2025 8:12 AM

Isn't using this service a felony in many states, leading up to long prison terms?

R37 Don't be a narc.

by Anonymousreply 40October 12, 2025 4:10 PM

R33 I’m pasting this from the website upthread. So it would seem to say start with half a gummy and the increase slowly up to 2.5 gummies until you hit the right point. I just ordered some and am very curious. Thanks to the OP for bringing this up… I need to find a different solution from Lexapro.

Microdosing is consuming small, sub-perceptible amounts of a psychedelic substance, typically in the range of 50-250mg. This dosage differs from a recreational dose as users are still able to function without any disruptive effects. In fact, many users report an increase in focus, clarity, creativity, and empathy among many other positive changes.

by Anonymousreply 41October 12, 2025 8:19 PM

[quote] Don't be a narc.

R40 I don't mean to be. It's just that I had some gummies in the cart and it asked me to check the box: [bold] [italic] I'm aware of the laws regarding purchase and possession of psilocybin in my state. [/bold] [/italic]

I live in Florida and had visions of my home being invaded by ICE agents and taking me away. I got totally paranoid and would rather do without than have fear of going to prison for microdosing mushrooms. What in heaven's name has Trump done to me?

by Anonymousreply 42October 12, 2025 9:13 PM

R32 There is a microdosing subreddit that could give you much more information about making the transition from SSRIs to microdosing mushrooms safely and quickly. From my understanding though, you don't have to wait until they're completely out of your system before it'll start to have an effect--just mostly.

by Anonymousreply 43October 12, 2025 9:43 PM

I've been doing this for over a year and have recommended it in many depression threads.

All of those upsides are what I felt too - but also did not 'spiral' with negative thoughts. They come in, I analyze the thought - and then call it bullshit and wipe it away.

Many studies have shown that it actually changes your brain - effortlessly. That's what you need to get out of depression and negative thinking.

Congrats to you - did you start because of something you read here?

by Anonymousreply 44October 12, 2025 9:47 PM

R33 0.25 grams is what I landed on after a bit of experimentation. I started with .1 grams which wasn't quite enough, nor was 1.5 grams. So I quickly moved up to .3 grams which was just a little bit too much. .25 was just right though. It will be different for everyone though.

I'm 5'10" and 170 if that matters, but I think it will have more to do with the way your body metabolizes individual psychedelics than anything else. I think I have a slightly higher tolerance for mushrooms but a VERY low tolerance for THC. One little puff of weed from a vape pen has me stoned off my tits for 6-7 hours.

by Anonymousreply 45October 12, 2025 9:50 PM

R44 Actually my sister in law turned me on to it. She uses it to treat PMDD (which is in her words "PMS on PCP") to great success and hasn't stopped talking about it for months. What she said it helped the most with was the irrational rage it would cause, and I was like, hey, that kinda speaks to me.

Ever since the 2024 election there has just been so much turmoil and fear and upheaval, I don't even know what's chemical or environmental anymore when it comes to my malaise, but frankly it doesn't much matter, because my environment can't be changed, but my brain can be. Mushrooms help and there's nothing about them that's unhealthy or addictive, so why not embrace them? A lot more people have turned to weed to deal with their anxiety, but that only further disconnects and dissociates--I want the opposite. I want more tolerance, more empathy, more peace. Mushrooms do that for me (and apparently lots of other people too).

by Anonymousreply 46October 12, 2025 9:59 PM

R44 Oh, and congratulations to you as well for finding mushrooms and healing through them. I'm hoping more and more of these online dispensaries pop up to make them more accessible to people. Everyone is walking around these days like frayed wires (for good reason), and anything that provides some relief from that is a godsent.

by Anonymousreply 47October 12, 2025 10:05 PM

Other question for those using. I get the “four days on three off” is to keep your body from building up a tolerance. But do you still feel good on the three days off?

by Anonymousreply 48October 12, 2025 11:16 PM

R48 - R44 here. Online there's a lot of talk about using that method.

I went through another therapist and I was taking some every day for 4 weeks with one week off in between.

The idea is to permanently bathe your brain in it on a frequent basis to make those changes in your brain permanent.

I believe in the daily dosage for several weeks on for a few months. It does get a bit old to do it every day, but I do believe you need to have to it consistently to see any permanent change.

by Anonymousreply 49October 13, 2025 12:01 AM

R48 OP here, yes, I definitely still feel good on the days off. The day or two immediately following there's an "afterglow" of sorts--kind of the opposite of what happens with MDMA. And yes, per R49, I believe the reason it's done like this is to avoid building a tolerance.

Oh, and btw, for anyone who is worried about accidentally tripping and wants to stop it in its tracks--booze. Just take a few slugs of whiskey or your spirit of choice and it will quickly blunt the effects. I imagine a Xanax would work on the same principle, but booze is faster and more easily accessible. I learned this on my second terrible acid trip. My brother came over to find me losing my shit and he ran down the street to a liquor store and brought me back a bottle of wine and just said, "chug!".

I looked it up and it works the same for mushrooms.

R50 Does booze counteract the microdosing also?

by Anonymousreply 53October 13, 2025 7:26 PM

R53 I've been drinking as much as I usually have, which is not a ton, but moderately, and I've still been feeling the benefits of microdosing. I think it's just that benzos (which alcohol is very similar to chemically) help with dampening the panic/anxiety that come with a bad trip.

by Anonymousreply 54October 13, 2025 8:25 PM

I love this thread, and I love that I trust the Datalounge for medical advice more than I trust the CDC these days.

Then again, I am circumcised, so it may be my Autism speaking.

by Anonymousreply 55October 13, 2025 8:33 PM

This mushroom chocolate bar they're selling for $65 has 15 pieces and each piece has 330mg. So if you take 1/2 of a piece for 4 days on/3 days off, one of these bars would last nearly 2 months, right? That comes to about $40 a month. If you do 3 days on/4 days off it's about $33 a month. That's not bad at all.

So on the legality issue… it seems these are still broadly illegal, even in CA. Yet this company is selling them openly and shipping them across state lines and even accepting credit cards. At a dispensary in CA there are still all sorts of restrictions like no credit cards and it is legal in the state.

I’m certainly thrilled this company is there, but how does that work?

by Anonymousreply 57October 13, 2025 11:07 PM

R57 All I know is I've been ordering them for a month and they arrive on time, in cute packaging, and in great shape and nothing feels weird about it. I've felt far more wary ordering Cialis from online Indian pharmacies.

They're the most highly recommended online dispensary on the microdosing subreddits, which is why I went with them. These don't come from CA, they come from Portland (if that makes a difference).

Mushrooms are among the safest Illegal drugs to distribute over state lines. It's just incredibly low on the priority list for the DEA, and pretty much always has been. Between 2018 and 2023, it accounted for less than 1% of the DEA's total investigations. So much so that most drug dogs are not even trained to identify them.

by Anonymousreply 58October 14, 2025 12:10 AM

I hope OP will bail me out when me delivery arrives next week.

by Anonymousreply 59October 14, 2025 1:34 AM

R58 - I buy capsules. Once it's ground up and in capsule form, it's almost impossible to detect.

Sending actual shrooms - that would make me nervous.

But if they're in gummies or chocolate or in capsules - they can't be detected.

by Anonymousreply 60October 14, 2025 2:05 AM

psilocybin does nothing for me. is it because i used to do a lot of blow?

by Anonymousreply 61October 14, 2025 2:12 AM

I don't know why one would have an effect on the other, r61.

by Anonymousreply 62October 14, 2025 2:16 AM

R61 - bull. There are tons of different strains. Just because you tried it once years ago and didn't feel anything doesn't mean it doesn't work on you.

by Anonymousreply 63October 14, 2025 2:32 AM

R63 Way harsh, Tai.

R61 How many times have you tried them, and under what circumstances? Are you sure what you did was the real deal? Honestly, I've never heard of anyone just not responding to mushrooms at ALL. That would be like someone saying acid or THC just doesn't affect them. I'm just not sure that's actually biologically possible.
