I agree, but nothing about network TV is the same. And kids who are home sick from school now stare at their other devices, not this hokey game show that looks to be from another time.

The biggest problem is that the contestants are dumb as bricks. I watched the whole show today and only one person won anything after the initial bid -- and he only won because he was a golfer with great putting skills.

But I still watch it, and I'm not sure why. I must find it amusing on some level.

I just was Jeopardy for the first time since that Ken guy took over.

He definitely doesn't have Alex T's charisma (nor reactions) down. And I was surprised at some of the stuff these contestants missed. They all looked like deer in headlights on some surprising things. I'm not giving examples.

I'm showing my age with this response. . .

I always liked the models in the 79s and 80s, Janet, Dian, Holly, and Kathleen. When the issues arise regarding Bob and Disn having an affair, it seemed like that the other women were dismissed shortly after Dian left. I got the impression that Bob was cold and treated these women like shit. The shoe replaced these women with a revolving door of attractive but nameless and bland women.

I lost interest in the show well before Bob retired... when I suspected he had been less than kind to the models who had been eith the show for years.

I heard that Bob Barker was homophobic and quite nasty to Rod Roddy, whom I met once and who seemed like the nicest and classiest of men. I guess it’s easier to be nice to dogs and cats.

Bob seemed like more of a slimy salesman who swindles old ladies out of their money for something that they don't need and doesn't work. He fit the show's vibe a little better than Drew.

Price is Right was ruined when most of the contestants became over-stimulated frat boys.

If you watch the 70's and 80s episodes on Pluto or YouTube, it is mostly older ladies who knew the price of a can of beans and got rewarded for it.

Then they just started choosing 20-year-olds who act like assholes for the camera.

I actually think Drew does a fine job. Bob was sort of stuck in an earlier time.

At least they eventually stopped having women reach in his pocket for the $100 bill if they got their bids right.

The people in Contestant's Row play the game as if they have no concept of what "bidding" is. I truly believe many of them think that's it's pure luck, and you're supposed to just call out a random number and hope it works out for you. Also, I can't stand it when the audience gets mad because someone bid one dollar over a previous bid. It's less than smart for the second or third bidder to do so, but it's idiotic for the last bidder NOT to do it. It's the best way to maximize your chance of winning, and it's not against the rules.

My complaint about Drew is the same one I've had since the day he started: I think he loves his job, he loves the show, he loves the people, but he has no love for the game itself. To him, TPIR is that dumb show you watch when you're at home sick, and any contestant who tries to apply strategy or common sense when playing a game gets mocked. When he was new, Drew got a lot of negativity from the autistic hardcore TPIR fans who were freaking out because Daddy Bob had left, and I think he gets nervous when someone plays the games competently because they might be one of "those" people. They adore him today, but he seems to be holding a grudge still.

I haven't watched the show in months. Did they have a new game for the season premiere? I really liked that penny game they started playing recently. Also like the "50 years ago" game, but I don't know if that was just for the fiftieth anniversary. I hope they keep it on.

I went to a taping of TPIR a few years before Bob retired. He was a cranky asshole. He kept telling the contestants to hurry up so he could get home and feed his dog.

Two of the first four people called down to contestant’s row were still there when the last item came up for bid, and he said “let’s hurry up so you two can make more bad bids.”

Compare current contestant selections to shows in the past. The main criteria today is that you are superanimated, whereas before you could just be a regular pleasant person who is a good game player that the audience could relate to. (Same goes for most of the game shows on now).

Janice Pennington looked like (with provocation) she would fuck you all the way up. The last time I watched it those prizes were cheap & ugly.

I love TPIR with Drew. I watch it everyday during the week practically. I have to use a VPN and paramount plus to get it even. I like all the models - Rachel, Manuela, Amber, Alexis, Devon and James. They all seem to get along and like each other. And I like Drew as well. Like me, he seems to only get disgruntled when people make ridiculous bids because I think he truly loves the game and wants to see people win. With PLINKO he always says down the center and the contestant will drop it from the corner. You can tell it drives him crazy.

I just WISH they would update their prizes to reflect the way people live. Who needs an air hockey table in their home, or a sauna or hot tub? An outdoor kitchen island? And those fucking KIA Souls! I call the red one the Clown Shoe. Here comes the Clown Shoe!

The worst contestants are those on Let's Make A Deal. They've obviously been told to act excited about anything - even a stupid Vespa scooter or a sauna.....

As soon as they're zonked, Wayne Brady practically kicks them in the ass to get them back to their seats. The prizes are bad and the games are so dumb. I guess Brady and that Mangum guy had some kind of relationship with they were first starting out.....and of course Tiffany Coyne says "Let's make a dill."

I usually watch Perry Mason on ME Tv instead. Makes TPIR look like Playhouse 90 in comparison.

They aren’t contestants as in the old LMAD. They are mostly out ofwork actors and online folks “hand-crafted” for the show.

The only shows that have “real” contestants are Jeopardy, WofF and (most of the time) Millionaire.

In regards to Bob Barker and the lawsuits, Holly said "I refused to give up and let that evil old bastard win".

Even as a kid, there was something I just liked about Holly. Reading how she fought against that old lech I love her even more.

I always thought Bob Barker was terrible. He never connected with the contestants--he just acted as if he was superior to everyone else. Now granted, these were price is Right contestants, who are hardly the smartest people in the world; but even so, a game show host should act less cold towards his or her contestants.
