Taking A Shower

Do you shower in the morning, or evening or both? If you shower at night do you go work without showering the next day?

by Anonymousreply 76October 12, 2025 4:46 PM

Morning. I'm a total morning person and I love when I step out of the shower and the sun is about to rise.

by Anonymousreply 1October 9, 2025 5:56 PM

I am a chonic alcoholic and bi-polar. I shower at night so I can sleep as late as possible before facing another awful day.

by Anonymousreply 2October 9, 2025 6:01 PM

Showers at night are more relaxing, but if I have a long day ahead or someone to meet, then a morning shower wakes me up and helps me feel fresh as a daisy.

by Anonymousreply 3October 9, 2025 6:09 PM

Shower in the late afternoon. I'm retired but do some volunteer work.

by Anonymousreply 4October 9, 2025 6:11 PM

Sometimes both. I always shower in the morning, but living in the humid and hot South, I often shower at night as well just to get the sweat off me. Additionally, I may take a shower to help me relax; I especially love taking a shower with just candlelight.

by Anonymousreply 5October 9, 2025 6:15 PM

Definitely in the morning, every morning, and occasionally again at night if either the weather or activity has made me a bit “ripe.”

by Anonymousreply 6October 9, 2025 6:18 PM

Morning and evening. I can't get into bed at night unless I've had a shower.

by Anonymousreply 7October 9, 2025 6:21 PM

Morning, unless illness or something prevents me from doing so. Only shower at night if I'm sweaty or have done something dirty, indoors or out.

by Anonymousreply 8October 9, 2025 6:29 PM

Always in the morning and if I go out or did sports or physical work, then also when I get home.

by Anonymousreply 9October 9, 2025 6:30 PM

Evening. I find it relaxing. I’m retired, so being “fresh” in the morning isn’t really an issue.

by Anonymousreply 10October 9, 2025 6:49 PM

What is this morning or night thing? I only shower whenever I feel like it. Sometimes it’s night, sometimes it’s noon, sometimes it’s 3am. Who is OCD enough to have a shower schedule?

by Anonymousreply 11October 9, 2025 6:51 PM

People who work for a living r11

by Anonymousreply 12October 9, 2025 6:54 PM

I don’t take showers because of my hair. I have dreads.

by Anonymousreply 13October 9, 2025 6:57 PM

R11 most normal people in developed nations?

by Anonymousreply 14October 9, 2025 6:59 PM

Night. I like getting into clean sheets with a clean body.

by Anonymousreply 15October 9, 2025 7:03 PM

Morning for me. I can't imagine leaving the house with the previous night's stank all over me.

by Anonymousreply 16October 9, 2025 7:40 PM

I shower 2x a day but the one at night is, like, 30 to 60 seconds long. It's just so if I've been outside, I can rinse any and all tree pollen/dust out of my hair.

I only started doing it at night too a few years ago but it has improved my allergies to the point that I no longer need an inhaler.

But the longer, proper shower is in the AM. I can't imagine showering at night. I have coworkers who do and they always have a cloud of stank around them.

by Anonymousreply 17October 9, 2025 7:45 PM

[quote]I can't imagine showering at night. I have coworkers who do and they always have a cloud of stank around them.

That's why you also need a morning shower.

by Anonymousreply 18October 9, 2025 8:29 PM

I do two showers a day. I always do a quick rinse in the morning. Your skin produces oils at night while you’re sleeping, and I find myself feeling gross throughout the day if I don’t. I will quickly wash my face in the shower too in the morning. It also helps wake me up.

I will take a more intensive shower in the evening where I really soap up and thoroughly wash my hair. My morning shower maybe lasts five minutes tops, but I’ll take 10-15 minutes in the evening. I’ve never understood people who can be in the shower for 30+ minutes. To me, that’s a waste of time (and water).

by Anonymousreply 19October 9, 2025 9:17 PM

I take a long shower in the morning because it helps wake me up and gives me a chance to think about the upcoming day. I'll also take a quick shower late at night to rise off the sweat from the gym.

by Anonymousreply 20October 9, 2025 10:06 PM

When working. I would also take a quick wake-up shower frequently although I may have showered the night before.

Since retiring, it most always at night, maybe one or two hours before getting to bed. I always shave and wash my face in the mornings.

by Anonymousreply 21October 9, 2025 10:12 PM

Morning, but also after my evening workout.

by Anonymousreply 22October 10, 2025 1:14 AM

It used to be morning and evening, but now it’s mostly just evening because like a couple of posters above, I can’t sleep without a bath or shower.

by Anonymousreply 23October 10, 2025 1:18 AM

[quote] the one at night is, like, 30 to 60 seconds long.

That is so gross. You’re just wetting the germs and bacteria so they can fester. You’re better off not showering.

by Anonymousreply 24October 10, 2025 1:18 AM

r13 There are shower caps for that.

by Anonymousreply 25October 10, 2025 1:22 AM

Usually, Tuesdays and Fridays. Time all depends on my events of the day. If I am going out of the house, I like to shower and put on clean clothes. If I am staying in, I like to go to bed with a clean body. My hair loves me for not washing it every day. My barber thinks I have the best hair she ever felt. It's because I use goat mild shampoo and conditioner.

by Anonymousreply 26October 10, 2025 1:23 AM

Only in the morning, every morning, even if I'm off or not planning to go out. I never take one at night. I hate the feeling of getting into bed damp.

by Anonymousreply 27October 10, 2025 1:24 AM

I shower at night. Growing up I showered in the morning, but i am not a morning person. I smell fine as I am not sweating much during my sleep. A shower at nigh is also relaxing.

by Anonymousreply 28October 10, 2025 1:24 AM

[quote] Usually, Tuesdays and Fridays.

Why do so many people shower on Fridays? Whenever I hear Friday I just roll my eyes. Wouldn’t you rather start your week fresh with a shower on Monday instead?

by Anonymousreply 29October 10, 2025 1:29 AM

Morning and night, and when I get home from work.

by Anonymousreply 30October 10, 2025 1:31 AM

I was never a morning person, but I always had to shower in the morning to wash my hair. As you all know, I'm Italian-American and when it comes to my hair and skin, I'm a greaseball. The skin is great because I'm not a wrinkled mess at 69, but my hair is a challenge. It gets greasy very easily.

But this is how DL has changed my life, at least for now. After reading and posting on a thread about heart health, I decided to go walking in the morning to improve my health. I now get up at 5:50 to go for my walk (3.25 miles). Getting up that early was anathema to me, and now I don't think twice about it. The men where I go for my walk are absolutely stunning, so the sightseeing is more incentive. I plan on starting a thread about it, but I want to make sure it's a permanent thing before I make that post.

Oh, and I shower when I get back from my walk.

by Anonymousreply 31October 10, 2025 1:43 AM

Morning before work and also before bed. In the summer I'll take one or more during the day.

by Anonymousreply 32October 10, 2025 1:53 AM

I am always happy in the shower and put off ending it for as long as possible.

by Anonymousreply 33October 10, 2025 3:15 AM

I like mine a bit on the hot side.

by Anonymousreply 34October 10, 2025 3:37 AM

No choice, I have to shower in the morning, my jewfro only goes down after a full blast of hot water, and my beard needs a good soak before I can even get a razor through it. I’ll also take a second shower before sex or after a workout at the gym.

by Anonymousreply 35October 10, 2025 3:41 AM

Morning and night .Like others,I refuse to get into bed with the filth of the day on my person. I have gotten to where I dont shower in the morning if im not going anywhere. But I would never leave the house unwashed .

by Anonymousreply 36October 10, 2025 3:42 AM

Same, r36. People who don't shower before leaving home in the morning are gross. And a shower at night before bed is mandatory for me as well. I can't stand being unwashed before bed.

by Anonymousreply 37October 10, 2025 3:49 AM

[quote] People who don't shower before leaving home in the morning are gross.

You have that backwards. People who don’t wash off the filth of the outside world when they get home are gross.

by Anonymousreply 38October 10, 2025 4:12 AM

r38 that's why a shower at night is good, too.

by Anonymousreply 39October 10, 2025 4:23 AM

If you sleep naked a thorough shower before bedtime keeps your mattress fresher longer. I scrub head to toe with a bath brush and body wash before bedtime.

by Anonymousreply 40October 10, 2025 4:37 AM

I do a morning shower every day, an evening one when it's hot.

But I also do an evening shower, no matter the time of year, when I change the sheets every week.

No bringing a less than clean body to clean cool sheets. Same rule for husband.

Not a full wash. A nice hot rinse that gives that funny cool feeling in the head and spinal column.

by Anonymousreply 41October 10, 2025 4:38 AM

[quote] Not a full wash. A nice hot rinse

If you just rinse off instead of wash with soap, that’s worse than not washing.

by Anonymousreply 42October 10, 2025 4:55 AM

Before Covid, when I also went to the gym regularly, I would shower up to 3 times a day.

Once Covid happened, I showered every other day, then every third day, then, ya know, when it occurred to me.

Once Covid ended, I never rejoined my gym. I had intended to, but I got used to my home-built gym in my living room. I also started doing workouts at the nearest public park. I'd try to get there an hour before sunset. Do sets of pushups on the bleachers. Outdoors, hanging with normal, regular people and really, really handsome dogs. Lots of great puppies, running around playing. I much preferred that to the new culture that had taken over my gym: Major attitude. Do a set, take a selfie. Do a set, take a selfie. I found I didn't miss the gym at all.

Now, I still shower when it occurs to me.

And don't anyone dare ask me how often I change my sheets!

by Anonymousreply 43October 10, 2025 7:17 AM

Shower?

by Anonymousreply 44October 10, 2025 7:26 AM

When the mood strikes me. Day or night if it's a shower, but I often like an early evening bath.

Who are these people who wake up in pools and clouds of sweat and "stank"? I can't remember waking in a sweat or reaching a state of stink multiple times in a day, certainly not it's a rare thing if I do. Once a day is plenty with the odd exceptions for the twice a day cleanse or the odd skipped day.

Chopping wood, moving boulders, orgy pig, dusty music festival... there are obvious triggers for a shower. showering upon waking up or before going to bed are shower habits, for me it's more "pick one each day" than a rigid routine. Sometimes my personal cleaning for 24-hours is a long afternoon bath.

by Anonymousreply 45October 10, 2025 7:34 AM

" Who are these people who wake up in pools and clouds of sweat and "stank"? "

I reckon they're people from lands on the Mediterranean Sea.

by Anonymousreply 46October 10, 2025 8:52 AM

I look forward to the occasional shower thought. They can be quite brilliant, like a bolt of lightning. It's like the unconscious shoots information or insight through it's been trying to tell you for awhile.

by Anonymousreply 47October 10, 2025 10:20 AM

I shower at night because I go to the gym in the evening.

by Anonymousreply 48October 10, 2025 10:55 AM

A golden shower

by Anonymousreply 49October 10, 2025 11:14 AM

[quote]Evening. I find it relaxing. I’m retired, so being “fresh” in the morning isn’t really an issue.

Same. I shower and shave before dinner while the oven preheats or is cooking dinner. When I worked it was a morning thing. Now it's more relaxing to come down, pour coffee, and see what horrors have happened overnight in the world.

Or, for that matter, on our dear Datalounge.

by Anonymousreply 50October 10, 2025 11:14 AM

My skin is incredibly dry, so two showers a day for me would have me itching so badly, I wouldn't be able to stand it.

by Anonymousreply 51October 10, 2025 11:23 AM

I am not a creature of habit so take a shower whenever.

If I dont take a shower in the morning I do a whores bath. I keep stacks of large microfibre cloths in my bathroom and every morning I do not take a shower I wash my face, then neck, then pits with warm water and no soap. As it is microfibre not much water is left on my body. Then I'll rinse the cloth and wash my naughty bits with the same cloth. I hang the cloth and it's dry when I come home from work and throw it into the laundry bin. New one everyday. My dermatologist told me not to use a lot of soap on my body rather rinse it often and soap only sometimes. Microfibres is great because it picks up lots of dead skin and of course all the other shit on the skin.

by Anonymousreply 52October 10, 2025 11:48 AM

R62 that doesn’t wash away your body oils. You’re still gonna smell.

by Anonymousreply 53October 10, 2025 11:58 AM

R52 that doesn’t wash away your body oils. You’re still gonna smell.

by Anonymousreply 54October 10, 2025 12:05 PM

You'd be surprised. Anyway, I use soap when I shower. I just don't use soap every time I "wash" myself each day.

by Anonymousreply 55October 10, 2025 12:21 PM

Can we ask your friends R55?

by Anonymousreply 56October 10, 2025 12:45 PM

I'll take dermatologist's knowledge over a crank on social media.

by Anonymousreply 57October 10, 2025 1:54 PM

If I’m not leaving my home, which is most days, I don’t do either. I probably bathe about twice a week.

by Anonymousreply 58October 10, 2025 2:18 PM

Retired - shower every evening - getting into a clean bed after bathing is the only way to sleep. On those cold Winter days when I'm not very active I usually hit the 'Hot Spots' and sprinkle a dash of powder here and there to prevent feeling sticky.

For those who bathe (shower or bath) on an irregular basis - good for you.

Here's a snappy little tune that may put one in the mood to bathe (or not) no matter your bathing frequency.

Do people just get sticky and wet everyday? Are you all big fat people with folds? Normal people can just be fine without becoming a sticky caramel apple at the end of the day.

by Anonymousreply 60October 10, 2025 4:46 PM

Some of you are dirty, filthy little piggies.

by Anonymousreply 61October 10, 2025 4:56 PM

I just prefer a nice warm enema

by Anonymousreply 62October 10, 2025 5:50 PM

2x a day but generally never on Sundays.

by Anonymousreply 63October 10, 2025 6:19 PM

Im sorry but those "I take a shower whenever and dont stink"types are fucking delusional at best. You bitches stink. Believe that . Why no one has told you tells me you either have zero friends or work from home and dont even have co workers to tell you how musty your funky asses really are. I would never date a man that didnt bathe every day . The thought horrifies.

by Anonymousreply 64October 10, 2025 7:24 PM

I'm actually not surprised about the posters who shower infrequently since this is DL and all, they're most likely shut-ins who never have sex or work out.

by Anonymousreply 65October 10, 2025 8:08 PM

[quote] Im sorry but those "I take a shower whenever and dont stink"types are fucking delusional at best. You bitches stink.

I bathe only occasionally, and I know that sometimes it ripens. The underarm stench can be overpowering, but your nose gets used to it.

by Anonymousreply 66October 10, 2025 8:19 PM

What are you trying to prove R66?

by Anonymousreply 67October 10, 2025 11:11 PM

[quote] What are you trying to prove [R66]?

I don’t think it has to be proven that infrequent bathing results in a pungent stench.

by Anonymousreply 68October 10, 2025 11:33 PM

I only take a bath once a week. The human body is a self cleansing system.

by Anonymousreply 69October 10, 2025 11:50 PM

I shower in the mornings after the gentleman callers have left hours earlier. I want my lady poosie feeling fresh for the day.

by Anonymousreply 70October 11, 2025 12:23 AM

[quote]Why no one has told you tells me you either have zero friends or work from home and dont even have co workers to tell you how musty your funky asses really are. I would never date a man that didnt bathe every day . The thought horrifies.

I'm happy enough with people who shower or bath most days, provided they know how to wipe and clean their asses.

75% puts Spain in the better range of Europe.

Italy, Brazil, and Colombia win the prize of a bar of soap. Residnets of Portugal, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama, and Mexico are more frequent showers/bathers than Americans.

Morning. Sometimes both.

by Anonymousreply 72October 12, 2025 1:17 PM

Do you guys shower before the gym or after the gym?

by Anonymousreply 73October 12, 2025 1:37 PM

[quote]Do you shower in the morning, or evening or both? If you shower at night do you go work without showering the next day?

We had a shower for five minutes in 2017, I have been told. A real rain.

It must have been wonderful.

by Anonymousreply 74October 12, 2025 1:42 PM

Both

by Anonymousreply 75October 12, 2025 3:33 PM

Morning and after work. An interesting twist is when I have a bad migraine is to get into bed dripping wet and the resultant extreme shivering is enough to catapult me from agony to a deep long sleep.
