Sex and the City (1998-2004)

I tried to search, but couldn't find a thread on this New York City–based HBO juggernaut.

The series follows four inseparable Manhattan gals: a horseface with god-awful fashion sense, a voluptuous libertine, a WASP princess, and a dykey redhead.

Thoughts?

And just like that Sarah Jessica Parker found the Datalounge

So I searched and MANY threads popped up. SATC threads, SJP threads, AJLT threads….

And you’re on the AJLT threads and SJP threads. Hmmm

I loved the first three seasons, I checked out after that

I was in a coma from 1994 to 2005. Never heard of it. What's it about? Also hearing a lot about a sit-com called Friends. So much to catch up on. I've been trying to get online. But you know AOL & dial-up ...

R5 See above:

"A horseface with god-awful fashion sense, a voluptuous libertine, a WASP princess, and a dykey redhead."

It peaked with Season 2 and went downhill when Big got married and Carrie met Aiden. After that it became all about over the top fashion and selfish Carrie.

by Anonymousreply 7October 9, 2025 2:13 AM

R7 Agreed. There is a scene in season 1 or 2 where the girls are eating Chinese food and drinking wine in sweats at Carrie's apartment just talking about life.

By season 3 they are all in design labels and eating at high end NYC restaurants.

I don’t believe for a second you couldn’t find a previous thread on this show, sorry.

OP is just being whimsical and fey, much like Carrie Bradshaw herself!

by Anonymousreply 10October 9, 2025 3:18 PM

OP is talking to himself—he’s added the first, sixth and eighth responses.

by Anonymousreply 11October 9, 2025 3:20 PM

OP was frozen in a block of ice for 25 years. I envy him; he gets to discover all these great TV shows such as "The Swan", "The Anna Nicole Show", etc.

A minor quibble would be that Kim Cattrall wasn’t actually voluptuous at all during the original run of the show - her body type is actually quite straight and square for a woman (she has great long-limbed lines and a very sexy flamboyant presence).

For all the horse face jokes, it was SJP who was the conventional hot bod of the group.

Sure, Jan.

I love that OP quotes himself at r6, as if his comment was so hilarious and original it deserved to be repeated.

R15 no, just relaying facts.
