Armie Hammer ends podcast, deletes most episodes

The podcast market is so saturated now and some of them are so fucking long. I have no idea how anyone has the time to listen to multiple podcasts a week.

I think he has BPD. He is so impulsive, almost destructively so. I wish him well.

Hammer is almost certainly bipolar (notably went from high to low when he didn't get an Oscar nomination for CMBYN) and also likely neurodivergent (ADHD bias). Not an easy combo.

I listened to two episodes of his podcast. He wasn't a very good interviewer. He has had a fascinating life so I thought he might have an interesting show but... nope. I agree with (5) that he is probably ADHD but with something else, darker and more serious, like BPD, too. Add to that his history of being sexually abused when young, and his abuser never having been brought to justice and... I hope he manages to find some peace.

If there were anything remotely special about him in terms of looks or talent he might have weathered the storm. Look how long Kevin Spacey managed to hang on to his career. Roman Polanski and Woody Allen never stopped making movies. R. Kelly and Diddy hung on to the bitter end.

I never listened to his podcast, but I did listen to the interview he did with Louis Theroux. He came off as an overly defensive douchebag, frankly. No sense of humor. There are way too many podcasts out there so I am not surprised that his off-putting personality didn't draw in more listeners.

I just find it fascinating that a tall, white, attractive, straight man from a wealthy background can be so down on his luck. It makes him even more sexy. He really would have had to have fucked up big time, because the world was handed to him on a silver plater. Very rarely are these types humbled in life to this degree.

Everyone is a podcaster nowadays. But it's no easy feat. You have to be (or should be) knowledgeable, informed, interesting and when called for, entertaining.

Not everyoine can keep up the pace or posseses the above qualities. I don't know about Hammer's podcast, but I suppose he felt he had to do something to stay in the game. Too bad it didn't work out for him if he wanted to remain a podcaster. I would imagine he would prefer to find work as an actor as his primary profession.

Not everyone is mentally ill. Some people, especially rich kids, grow up with a lot of douchey entitlement. Weirdos exist and they don’t have to have a diagnosis.

He got into the big time and couldn’t get a nut to save his butt except for one movie for which he was not nominated.

Now he is throwing anything at the wall that might stick to reclaim his birthright —Fame, attention and wealth.

When his wife (Dru Hammer) found out, she moved the family from LA to Dallas. So Michael moved the secretary to Dallas. When she found out about that, she moved the family to the Cayman Islands.

As best as I have pieced together, Armie tried to recreate this dynamic with Effie, including taking him to Armand Hammer’s favorite trysting spots. Effie I believe was a sex worker at a famous Beverly Hills elite sex club called SANCTUM or something. He met her there and took a fancy to her, and he moved her into an apartment near his home that he paid for.

So anyone who says they find it fascinating that a tall attractive white man from a Southern California oil family can turn out so twisted has clearly never read a Raymond Chandler novel or watched “Chinatown.”

R30, I never said "so twisted." It's a surprise to no one how deviant filthy rich people can be. I said it is fascinating that he is so down on his luck. Usually those types never really pay for their crimes. From the sounds of it, he was the least offensive of the men in his family but has probably paid the most for his actions.

Armie would have been so much better as Ed Gein in the new Monster series.

This isn’t an issue of luck. It’s an issue of Armie having poor impulse control. His entire misfortune was brought about by poor impulse control.

I think Armie has some personality disorders but Im not sure how serious. I think his main challenge is born with a silver spoon, rotten family, not educated, and, at best, middling IQ. Perhaps lower. I also wonder if he might be a tall handsome man with a 5 inch boner.
